26506 | North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 9/2/2967 Mr. and Mrs. Howard J. Arenz of 292 Delaware St., Tonawanda, will be honored on their golden wedding anniversary tomorrow. Hosts of a special dinner party at the Downtowner Motor Inn will be sons, Walter and David, and their wives. Mr. Arenz and the former Carrie B. Lindemann were married Sept. 3,1917, in First Presbyterian Church, Syracuse, N.Y., by the Rev. David R. Jones. Their honor attendants were Mrs. Oscar R. Clayton, who will arrive from Syracuse to attend the party, and the late Dr. Clayton. Mr. and Mrs. Arenz have been lifelong residents of the Tonawandas except for two short periods when they lived in Newark, N.J. and Harbor Springs, Mich. Mr. Arenz was a shipbuilder during World War I, interior decorator in Harbor Springs, employe of Roy Arenz Motors in North Tonawanda, and upon retirement in 1959, had worked many years in the service sales department of Twin City Auto Co., Buffalo. Mrs. Arenz is an accomplished organist and was organist-choir director of the Broad Street Baptist Church many years. They take great pride in their home, which is over 100 years old and have done all the remodeling work inside. Great enthusiasts of water, they do much boating on the Niagara River and Erie Canal in a cruiser. Mr. Arenz has made dozens of beautiful needlepoint articles, "while watching television in the winter," including five organ bench covers. Mrs. Arenz knits for her family. Each year, they travel to Connecticut to visit David and his family in Milford. They also have taken tripe to Florida, California and Oregon. Walter resides in Kenmore. 26507 | North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 9/20/1951 Vases of white gladioli decorated the altar of St. Francis Church Saturday Aug. 11 for the wedding of Miss Florence Schultz, daughter of Mrs. Matilda Reser of Tonawanda and Anthony Zipp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Zipp. The ceremony was performed by The Right Rev. Msgr. John A. Weismantel. The bride was given in marriage by her uncle Mr. Herman Lintner. During the ceremony Miss Bacon sang "Mother At Thy Feet is Kneeling," "Pontis Angilico," land Schubert's "Ave Maria." The bride wore a gown of ny- Ion tulle and Chantilly lace. The fitted bodice was fashioned with a sweetheart neckline, long sleeves pointing over the wrists, a short ruffled peplum and bouf- fant skirt over which lace flowers were scattered. Her fin- ger tip veil of illusion was held in place by a matching lace bonnet. She carried a colonial bouquet of white roses, baby mums and lily of the valley. The maid-of-honor, Miss Helen Dzuglo wore a gown of white eyelet organdy over pastel green. It was fashioned with.a sweetheart neddine and short peplum both outlined with organdy flowers. Her headpiece was a bonnet effect, and she caried a colonial bouquet of summer flowers. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Frederick Lindaman and Mrs. William Schreck. Their gowns and bouquets were similar to the maid-of-honor, one over aqua and the othe'r over yellow. Mr. Paul Zipp, brother of the groom, was best man. Messrs. Frank Wenske and George Zitzka, cousins of the groom, were ushers. The mother of the bride wore a dress of pale pink shadow lace and a corsage of roses. The groom's mother chose a light blue print crepe dress and wore a corsage of roses. The breakfast, immediately af- ter the ceremony was given at the bridegroom's home. The dinner was at the Kathryn Lawrence Tea Room and a reception followed at the American Legion. For a motor trip thru Canada the bride chose an aqua two piece dress with white accessories. Martin Brachmann was solemnized Sept. 12 in Ascension Church. The Rev. F r a n c i s A. Hunt officiated. Palms and assorted white flowers enhanced the altar for the ceremony and red roses were placed on the Virgin Mary's altar by the couple. White satin ribbon marked the family pews. Miss Clair Bachmann, niece of the bridegroom was the soloist. The bride's gown of velva-ray embossed lace over satin was fashioned with a fitted bodice, long sleeves, sabrina neckline and a full, tiered skirt. Her scalloped chapel l e n g t h veil was caught to a crown of seed pearls and rhinestones. She carried a cascade of white roses and shasta pompons centered with white orchids. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Samuel Saulter Mrs. John Wegrzyn, matron of honor, wore a white lace and tulle gown over yellow with a sabrina neckline and full skirt. White lace formed the bodice and a front panel in the skirt. She carried Talisman roses combined with yellow shasta pompons. Wearing identical dresses over b l u e w e r e t h e b r i d e s m a i ds, Mrs. Melvin Boeheim, Mrs. John Ha- ley, Mrs. Michael Vona Jr attired in the lace and tulle over blue were junior bridesmaids Nancy Brachmann and Sharon Verhague whose gowns were accented with hip ruffles. They carried yellow roses with white shasta pompons. Mary Brachmann carried similar flowers and wore a white frock over yellow. Robert Brachmann attended his brother as best man. Ushers were Gerald Peale, Melvin Boeheim and Alfred Ball. Michael Brach mann was the ring bearer. The bride's mother wore an apricot silk organza dress trimmed with beige and a picture hat to match the dress. A reception was given in VFW Hall for 500 guests. White flowers flanked the wedding cake at the bridal table. Guests attended from Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Detroit, Toronto and the Adirondacks. Also present were Sister Clarence, an aunt of the bridegroom, and Sis- ter Madeine from Father Baker's home, Lackawanna. Mr. and Mrs. Brachmann traveled to California for their wedding trip where they planned to visit Los Angeles, Monterey Park and Hollywood. They will be at home after Oct. 2 in 532 Walck Rd. Theodore Schroeder officiated in a double ring service. The altar of the church was decorated with white gladioli and palms for the occasion- Sherwood Lorenz, guest organist, played traditional music and accompanied Miss Marian Van Hise who sang "Because" and "The Lord's Prayer". The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white taffeta with sweetheart neckline outlined with rhinestones, long sleeves and full skirt with cathedral length train. Her fingertip veil of illusion was fastened to a tiara of rhinestones and she carrired a bridal bouquet of white gladioli Miss Joan Buckhout, maid honor, wore an orchid taffeta col ^nial gown with off-shoulder neck line, short sleeves and full skirt with bustle. She wore mitts to match her gown and flowers in her hair, and carried a bouquet of yellow gladioli. Miss Cecelia Burngasser and Mrs. Carlton Grobe, bridesmaids wore similar costumes of green and yellow taffeta and carried gladioli to contrast with their gowns. The Junior bridesmaid, Miss Nancy Liebeck, wora yellow taffeta and carried a colonial bouquet. Eugene Meyer attended the bridegroom as best man and the ushers were Ronald Helwig and Carlton Grobe. Richard Busch Jr. was the groomsman. A smoke gray dress with black accessories was worn by the mother of the bride, Mrs. Busch. Mrs. Allard, mother of the bridegroom, wore cocoa brown with brown accessories. Both wore corsages of mixed flowers. Dinner for the bridal party and immediate families was held in Fanger's Restaurant where the tables were covered with imported linen cloths used at the weddings of the bride's grandmother and mother. The tables were centered with flowers. Later a reception was given in Cleveland Hall. For her wedding trip to Rice Lake. Ontario, the bride chose a two piece dress with plaid top and brown skirt. The bride wore a hoop skirted gown fashioned with a lace bodice coming to points into the full skirt of marquisette, small cape sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. Her scalloped veil of illusion fell from a pearl tiara. She wore short lace mitts and carried an arch of white roses centered with an orchid. A string of pearls completed her ensemble. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Mrs. Jane Krupp, sister of the bride,, as matron-of-bonor, wore ° gown of light green taffeta, buttoned at the back, with sweetheart neckline, short sleeves and a hooped skirt. She wore taffeta mitts and a net hat to match her gown and carried a colonial bouquet of yellow roses. Another sister, Miss Mildred Wickham, bridesmaid, wore a similar costume of yellow and carried a colonial bouquet of red roses. Joseph Fallon of Great Neck, L. I., was the best man. His brotherin- law, Robert Batt, was groomsman and the ushers were William Krupp, brother-in-law of the bride and Kermit Behm, the groom's brother. The bride's mother chose a royal blue crepe gown with feathered hat to match. Her corsage was of pink roses. The groom's mother selected a steel blue crepe gown with matching hat and a corsage of red roses. After the ceremony a reception and dinner were held in the George F. Lamm Post in Williamsville for 200 guests. The bride's table was centered witth a tiered wedding cake flanked with bouquets of narcissus and tulips. Out-of-town guests were present from Dunkirk, Olcott, Lockport, Wilson, Long Island, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and the Tonawandas. For traveling the bride chose a navy blue gabardine suit with pink accessories and an orchid corsage. Wolansky, 37 years old, a former resident of the Tonawandas, at his home in Chicago, Saturday. He was born in North Tonawanda. He had resided In Chicago for the past 10 years. He is survived by his wife, Esther; two sons, Ernest, Jr., and A. Nelson; a mother, Mrs. Anna Stoecker, all of Chicago; three brothers, Albert, Benjamin and LeGrand, all of North Tonawanda, and three sisters, Mrs. Ray Smidth and Mrs. William Barrett, North Tonawanda. and Mrs. Martin Spencer, Buffalo.
