27002 | Utica NY Observer - 2/21/1928 Rome, Feb. 21—Mrs. Anna Annis. 71. widow of Atwell Annls and for many years a resident of North Bay, died at the James A. Murphy Memorial Hospital this morning after an illness of several days, pneumonia being the cause of death. Mrs. Annia was formerly Miss Anna Stratton and was born at Jewell (West Vienna). She married Mr. Annis of North Bay more than 50 years ago and most of their lives were passed there. Mr. Annis died in this city three months ago and since then Mrs. annis had resided with relatives here. She was a sister of the late James Flanagan, formerly treasurer of Oneida county and a former mem- ber of Assembly. Surviving are three children, Mrs. J. D. Wellman and Mrs. Guy Bowman, Rome; Mrs. William Hemmingway, Westmore- land; one sister, Mrs. W. B. Graves, and one brother, John F. Flana- gan, both of this city. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and of the North Bay Lodge of Rebekahs. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Friday at the late home in North Bay. In Rome, son of Anthony and Amelia Stimmer Beasock. In Rome 57 years ago,'he mar- ried'Margaret Holman, who died Oct. 28, 1957 Mr. Beasock had resided in Oriskany for the past two years and in Tonawanda for two years prior to that. Barringer, 76, who had been town clerk, highway superintendent and justice of the peace fov Town of Ava, died suddenly at his home, 103 South St.. here', 'at noon March 11, 1956. Oneida County Coroner Preston Clark pronounced death due to cor- onary occlusion. Mr. Barringer was also a wel- fare officer for several years and served as trustee of School Dis-. trict 6, Town of Ava, for many years. He was born in Town of Lee on May 6, 1879, a son of C. Ham- ilton and Martha Haynes Bar- ringer. He was twice married. He married Etta Tuttle on March 18, 1903 in Ava, by the Rev. George Dermont. She died May 23, 1916. He married Edna Brandis on Feb. 26, 1949, at the clinton Methodist Church, by the Rev. Alden Smith. He spent his early life in Town of Ava, where he owned a farm at Flint town. Since moving here in 1942, Mr. Barringer had worked for Oneida County Reforestation and had worked at the Elsasser Loom Works here the last several years. Mr. Barringer was a member of Ava Methodist Church, Boon- ville grange 1547, a charter member of the Maccabees of West Leyden and Summit Lodge IOOF, Boonville. He leaves his wife; four daugh- ters, Mrs. Herbert Ringwald of Ava, Mrs. Samuel Spinelli of Six, Mrs. Stuart Gieseman of Clinton, Mrs. Harry Hartson of West Branch; a son, Wallace Barringer of Ava; a step-daugh- ter, Judith Brandis, at home; 13 grandchildren; three great grand- children; a sister, Mrs. Burton Hurlbut of Boonville; several nieces and nephews. Luke Gallagher officiated. The couple was attended by Miss Patricia A. Brennan, the bride's sister and Richard E. Bamberger, the bridegroom's brother. The ushers were Earl W. Davis, the bridegroom's brother-in-law, and Raymond Whitton. Edward Solan sang "Ave Maria^ _"0 Lord I Am Not Worthy," and "Panls Angelicus," accompanied by William Walters. The bride was gowned in White nylon taffeta styled with a square neckline, fitted bodice, long sleeves which were pointed at the wrists and a full skirt which ended in a long train. Her fingertip veil was edged with lace and caught to a tiara of seed pearls. She carried a white'Missal with a white orchid and streamers of shattered carnations. Her attendant chose a blue moire gown fashioned with a round neckline, cap sleeves, and full skirt. She wore a headband and carried spring flowers. After breakfast in- the Town House-and a reception in the Catholic-Women's Club from 2 p. m to 4 p.m., the couple left for a trip through the New Eng land States and Canada. The bride's mother wore a blue print dress-with white accessories and the bridegroom's mother was attired in a black print dress with matching accessories. Both had orchid corsages. The bride, a graduate- of Proctor High School, la employed by the New York-Telephone. Company. 27027 | Utica NY Observer - 7/28/1962 LEICHTY was killed in a fall from a farm trailer at Route 12 and Dayton Road about 9:30 a. m. Trooper h. g. Fox of the Remsen State Police substation said Leichty was riding on the rear of a two-wheel trailer being towed on Dayton Road by a tractor driven, by his farmhand, Gordon Thomas, 33. As the, vehicles crossed Route 12, the pole on the trailer broke and Leichty fell forward to the road, Fox said. He was pronounced dead at the scene bv Dr. Robert Smith of Boonville. Dr. T. W. Piekielniak. coroner, said death was accidental and caused by fractures of the neck and skull. Fox said L e i c h t y and Thomas-were-on their way-to carry water to a neighboring farm for livestock. The other farm was without water, but not because of the drought, the trooper said. The body was taken to the Ackley Funeral Home in Remsen by the Prospect- Ambulance S e r v i c e. 27046 | Utica Observer Norwich-Allen E. McNitt, 58, or 31 Brown Ave., chief engineer at the Chenango Memorial Hospital, died Sun day at the hospital following a short illness. McNitt was born Oct. 19, 1901 in Borwich, son of Brad- ford J. and Laura A. Shelton McNitt. He attended local schools. On Oct. 31, 1922, he married Ethel Crandall. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Nor- wich Chapter 364, and was a past governor of the lodge. He had been employed for over 15 years as chief engineer at the Chenango Me- morial Hospital and pre- viously had worked with precision instruments with the Utica Drop Forge and Tool Co. and at Savage Arms. For several years he was with O & W at its tool shop in Norwich. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Allen J. McNitt of Keene, N.H., two daughter, Mrs. Lorin F. Treichler of North Plain field, N.H.; seven grandchildren, several cousins; an uncle. The funeral will be at 2 to- morrow from the Devine funeral home, the Rev. 27047 | Utica Observer - 2/23/1960 Waterville -David Rowley, 43, maintainance welder at the Rome Copper and Brass Co. in Rome, died yesterday in his home here after a short illness. He was born in Syracuse; Nov/ 8, 1916,. son of Ernest and Lulu Johnson Rowley. In June, 1952, he married Bertha Beha in St. Bernard's Church in this village. He .was a mem- ber of St. Bernard's Church and its Holly Name Society. He leaves his wife, three daughters, Patricia, Kathleen and Mary Margaret Rowley, all at home; his parents in Rochester; a brother, Charles Rowley of the" Army; three sisters, Mrs.,Ernestine Sassran, Mrs. Helen Bridge and Mrs. Dorothy Scherchel, all of Rochester. The funeral will be at 8:45 Thursday from the Harry Northrup Jr: funeral Home, and at 9 from St. Bernard's Church with the Rt. Rev. Msgr John L. Powers officiating.
