Of Silver Creek, New York, formerly of North Tonawanda, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2024, surrounded by family members. He is predeceased by his wife, Joyce R. Vona, parents, John R Vona Sr and Ruth Vona, and his beloved son, John R Vona III. Dr. Vona lived life for his family, "La Familia." Nothing gave him more joy than spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild Tony. He completed school at the University of Buffalo's Dental School in 1961 and immediately entered the US Army Reserve Dental division at Ft Riley, Kansas. After an honorable discharge, "Doc" set down roots in Silver Creek, NY. He had a thriving dental practice for over 45 years and continued to work well into his mid-80s for the Resource Center in Dunkirk, NY, where he retired after working 61 years as an area dentist. He prided himself on building relationships and patient care with a splash of humor. Besides his dental talents, he was also an athlete and musician. He played on UB's basketball and baseball teams, for which he was recently inducted into the Western New York Baseball Hall of Fame. A fifty-year member of Tri-County Country Club, "Doc" loved his golf, always looking forward to his annual outing with his Ganson Street boys and trips to Hershey, Pennsylvania. His musical prowess on his saxophone was remarkable, constantly filling the house with his smooth jazz sounds. For several years, he played with the New Horizon Band of WNY, performing in their seasonal concerts at Fredonia SUNY's Mason Hall. Dr. Vona is survived by his four children, sons Dr. David Vona (wife Judy), and Daniel Vona (Karin Scott) and two daughters, Linda Hart (husband Chris), Sandy Stewart (husband Randy); Granddaughters, Kimberly Tomasik (husband Zach), Haley Hart, Samantha Stewart, grandsons Brandon Hart and Matthew Vona, great-grandchild Anthony (Tony) and sisters, Carol Robek and Janet Remzi. His family and friends will forever cherish his memory. Although his presence will be deeply missed, he will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 20  at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 165 Central Ave., Silver Creek, NY at 1:00 pm and a reception will immediately follow at the family's residence, 12202 Ludeman Dr., Silver Creek, NY. A private family graveside service will be observed at Mt. William E Milleville, a lifelong resident of the Town of Wheatfield, died today (May 22, 1961) at Mt. St. Mary's Hospita1 after a month's illness. Mr. Milleville, who resided at 2808 Niagara Falls Blvd., was employed for 30 years at the Milleville Dairy. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Hilda Milleville; three sons, Kent, Dennis and Dean Milleville, all at home; two sisters, Mrs. Carl Geltz and Mrs. George Meyers, this city, and five brothers, Rudolph Milleville, this city; Herbert Milleville, North Tonawanda; Theodore, Edward and Phillip Milleville, Town of Wheatfield. NORTH TONAWANDA - William F. Kroening; 80 years old died yesterday afternoon at his home in the Shawnee road, town of Wheatfield, where he had resided all his life. He was a retired painter. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Minnie Kroening; two daughters, Mrs. William Redner, of Tonawanda, and Mrs. Edward Bugenhagen, of Wheatfield; a son, George W., of North Tonawanda, and a brother, August, of Wheatfield, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Last rites will be held Monday at 4 pm, at the home. The Rev. B. A. Hinners will officiate and interment will be in Shawnee cemetery.

27156 W. Lincoln Smith, age 96, of Wilson, entered into rest on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Newfane. Born February 12, 1913 in Cambria, he was the son of the late Warren and Elizabeth (nee Fitzgerald) Smith.Lincoln was married to Ruth Myers November 11, 1939 at Our Lady of the Rosary R.C. Church in Wilson. Mrs. Smith died January 7, 1999. Lincoln had worked in the maintenance department at Wilson Central Schools, retiring in 1976 after 10 years. He had previously worked for Hill-Shardon Oil in Lockport delivering oil during the 50's and 60's. Lincoln was a charter member of the Wilson Conservation Club. He was a member of the Wilson Fire Company and their Fire Police, the Newfane Golden Agers and the Wilson Golden Agers. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and bowler. Lincoln enjoyed playing Euchre with his many friends.Lincoln is survived by his children, Karen (the late James) Welch of Wilson, Charolette (Robert) Hartis of Charlotte, NC, Lois Connor of Newfane and Wayne (Jeanne) Smith of Chandler, AZ. Brother of Wilfred (Helen) Smith of Sanborn and the late Gerald, Harold, Harvey, Leroy Smith and Winifred Fritton; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive him.Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Kenneth H. 27157 W. Roger Wendt, 97, passed away surrounded by his children, Sunday, January 29, 2023. Born in Pekin, NY on November 8, 1925, he was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Sanborn, NY.
He retired as a pipefitter from Harrison Radiator, Lockport, NY in 1988. He and his predeceased wife, Betty Fay (Lymburner) lived primarily in central Florida in a home on Oakwood Golf Course, Lake Wales. He was an avid golfer, gardener, enjoyed investing and was a loyal fan of the Buffalo Bills and Orlando Magic.
He is survived by his five children: Linda J. Miller (Thomas) of Williamsburg, VA, Douglas R. Wendt (Debra) of Pendleton, NY, Nadine A. Stom (Glenn)of Indian Lake Estates, FL, Gregg D. Wendt (Susan) of Sanborn, NY, Rodney J. Wendt (Karen) of North Tonawanda, NY; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He is loved, was loved and will always be loved by family and friends as we celebrate his life. We should follow his example and enjoy life as he did, one day at a time. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

She lived an active and independent life. Born in North Tonawanda to William “Pop” and Mildred (nee Zimmerman) Ramsay, she was the youngest of five children. Predeceased by her loving husband and High School sweetheart, John Wactawski who died in 2008. Beloved “mum” of daughters Barbara Julien (Steven Drimmer), Dr. Jean (Dr. Karl Wende) Wactawski-Wende and Gail (John) Tylec, proud and adoring grandmother of Aidan, Austin and Jordan Tylec, Alexandra and Marilyn Wende, sister of Charles (Dianne) Ramsay and sister in law of Antoinette “Toni” (late Joseph) Midzinski, sister of the late William (late Geraldine) Ramsay, Mary (late Kenneth) Hering and Vera (late James) Oldenburg. Also survived by numerous close and loving nieces and nephews and many lifelong and devoted friends. Betty enjoyed glorious Summers for over 70 years at Long Beach, Canada with friends and family. She was a 75 year member of North Presbyterian Church in North Tonawanda. She was also a dedicated 25 year participant in the Women’s Health Initiative study and an avid scrabble enthusiast, volunteer and traveler. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. WHEATFIELD - Agnes V. Walck, of Wheatfield, died Friday in Elderwood Health Care Center at CrestWood. She was 95.
Born Agnes Pfohl in the Town of Wheatfield, she attended local schools. She was a devoted homemaker and a lifelong, active member of St. Peter's Evangelical
Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Women of the Church.
She also was a member of the Sanbornite Senior Citizens and enjoyed many trips with the group.
Her husband of 52 years, Theodore J., died in 1983.
Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Hildebrandt of Sanborn; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 A.M. today in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walmore Road. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

She enjoyed cooking and canning and was a Sabres hockey fan.

SANBORN - Esther N. (Beutel) Walck, formerly of Sanborn, died in Northgate Manor Nursing Home, Wheatfield, Tuesday (Aug. 11, 1987). She was 93. Mrs. Walck was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Joy Circle group. She enjoyed sewing. She was the wife of the late Emil Walck. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Al (Agnes) Turner and Ella Durkee of North Tonawanda, Minnie Zobrist of Las Vegas, Nev.; a son, the Rev. Bernhard Walck of Simi Valley, Calif., nine grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Walck is engaged in farming and has been thirty years on the present farm, being very successful in his business. He is also popular politically and has been excise commissioner and has been supported by a large majority in the Republican party for other offices. May 2, 1872, he married Mary Thiele, and they have five children: George, Annie (married Charles Doering), Esther, Ellen and Adelaide.

Robert Lester Walck, born May 8,1957, died November 6, 2004 from a motorcycle accident, while riding in Bandera county of the hill country, northwest of San Antonio, Texas. He is survived by his fiancee, Jennifer Mason of Houston, Texas; brother, James H. Walck of Endwell, NY, his wife Lynne Diane; one nephew, John Andrew; two nieces, Ann Elizabeth and Sarah Magdalene; his father, Lester Walck and stepmother, Patti of Sanborn; grandmother, Arline Walck of Sanborn; deceased mother, Sally Ann Walck and deceased grandfather, Hubert Walck; and several cousins and relatives. Bob was an active member of House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Webster, Texas. His schooling includes a 1982 Bachelor of Arts Degree Magna Cum Laude in Communications Studies from Niagara University, a 1986 Bachelor of Science Degree in Imagining (sic) and Technical Photography from the Rochester Institute on Technology. His work experience includes a position on the staff photography team at the Johnson Space Center In Houston (NASA) where he documented NASA activities, including astronaut training and studio photos, and his current work for Southwest Bell Communications, where he was a data line technician. His hobbies included biking, music, working on cars, travelling (sic), and reading. Bob was a person of great empathy and love, and will be greatly missed by those who loved him and him and knew him best! While attending LaSalle High School, Wally served in the “Aircraft Warning Service” from late 1943 to early 1944. His observation post was a small hut located on top of the Sanborn Fire Hall. In August 1944, Wally enlisted in the Navy at the old post office building in downtown Buffalo, followed by Boot Camp at Sampson Naval Training Station atSeneca Lake, NY and a 12 week Radio School at Bainbridge MD. He served in thePacific Theater aboard the USS Arkansas BB33 and the USS Baldwin DD 624. In June1946, Wally returned to Niagara Falls, graduated from LaSalle High School andwent to work as a Mail Boy for American Salesbook Co. (later became MooreBusiness Forms). Spring 1947, he transferred to the NY National Guard and drilledat the Armory on Main Street. After his discharge from the National Guard, Wallygraduated from the Detroit College of Traffic Management and worked at Autolitewhere he met, then married the love of his life, Margaret Jean MacAllister.Following Autolite, he worked in the traffic departments at Hooker Chemical andThe Upson Company in Lockport. While at Upson, Wally was hired part-timeby Franklin Traffic Service (FTS) in Sanborn. After Upson closed he worked at FTS full time. Where he retired after working for many years. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran church in Niagara Falls. Wally enjoyed hunting with his family. In his later years if he shot a deer, over the two-way radio he’d say, “Boys I have work for you, but first, bring me a sandwich and beer”. He and Jean spent summers with family and friends at their homes in Saranac Lake and later on Lake Ontario. In his retirement Wally enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and a few weeklong fishing trips in Canada. Neubauer, formerly of Cayuga road, Route No. 1, this city, was killed in action on Mindanao, Philippine Islands, June 19, according to information received by his mother, Mrs. Mildred Neubauer Bender, of 710 101st street. He was a member of the Coast Artillery Corps of the U. S. Army. He was inducted January, 1942. A graduate of Trott Vocational school, he was employed by Buffalo Bolt company, North Tonawanda, before his army service. One brother, Private First Class Lawrence E. 27173 Walter (Sulc) Schultz, age 94 of Lewiston, New York, was called home to God on November 24, 2024. Born in Niagara Falls on January 20, 1930, Walter was the son of the late Justin Joseph (Sulc) Schultz and Anna Teresa [Petrash] Krizan Schultz.
He graduated from La Salle Senior High School in 1948, and continued his studies at the University of Buffalo, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry in 1962 and his Master of Science Degree in Chemistry from Niagara University in 1973. Walter served in the US Military in the Air National Guard at the Niagara Falls Air Force Base, and was honorably discharged in 1952. 
Walter was employed as an analytical chemist with E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Company Niagara Plant, Electronics Materials Group where he eventually ran the Quality Assurance Chemistry 'wet lab' and retired after 44 years in 1993 e was honored by Du Pont for "Environmental Excellence" for 'Copper Process Waste Reduction' to eliminate the largest hazardous waste stream from EMG's copper manufacturing process. 
Walter enjoyed bowling in many local leagues, and was an avid fan of local sports, as a long-time season ticket holder for the Buffalo Bills and attended countless local Niagara University and Canisius College basketball games; as well as many high school sporting events for his grandchildren and nephews. In addition, he was a prolific reader of a wide variety of topics and a 'perpetual student' including a keen interest in chess. Walter was very active at the former St. George's Roman Catholic Church, Niagara Falls, and served as a lector, sang in the choir, was a Trustee, and co-chaired the '125 Club" fund-raising efforts for the church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59-1/2 years, Patricia J. [Lauzonis], his twin son and daughter, Hon. Eric (Jennifer) Schultz, USIJ, and Maryanne (Christopher) Schultz-Barrick, PhD, his grandchildren, Justin Schultz, Lydia Schultz, and Eliana Barrick, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings Ferdinand "Fred" (Clara) Krizan, Anna (Bernard) Martin, Marya Krizan, Joseph Krizan, Jennie (Duane) Schmidli, Justine "Chris" (Ralph) Whitbeck, George Schultz, Josephine (Herman) Camp and Pauline "Polly" (James) McClellan.  He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He always took interest in all of the activities of his immediate family and extended family and was supportive in any way he could. His memory will be cherished forever.
His family will be present on Friday from 3-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY. Everyone is invited to attend his mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY.

Walter E. Strasburg, who received a Purple Heart while serving in the U.S. Army during World War I, died in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Monday (Feb. 24, 1986). He was 89. A resident of Cayuga Drive, he was born in Niagara Falls' LaSalle area. Strasburg was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Bergholz and a charter member of the John J. Welch Post 381 American Legion. He worked at the Nabisco Co. for 49 years as a supervisor until retiring in 1966. He is survived by his wife, Dollie L. (Hartman} Strasburg and many nieces and nephews. Three sisters and five brothers died earlier. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Hamp Funeral Home, Adam and Seymour streets, Tonawanda, with the Rev. Lyle E. Larson of St. James Lutheran Church officiating. 27175 Walter E. Toellner age 88, of the Town of Wheatfield, April 9, 2009 in Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a brief illness.Walter was a WWII veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a survivor of the HMS Rohna which was sunk on Thanksgiving 1943 resulting in the largest loss ever of American life at sea. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1451, the V.F.W. and was a 69-year member of the Adams Fire Co. Walter was active in Wheatfield politics, serving as an Assessor for 8 years and serving on the Town of Wheatfield Planning Board. LOCKPORT - A Middleport man was fatally injured when he fell 15 feet onto a cement floor in a steam plant here about midnight Wednesday. Walter F. Mietz, 58, of 6361 Meadville Road, Middleport, was taken to Lockport Memorial Hospital by ambulance and immediately transferred to Sisters Hospital at Buffalo, where he died about 3:15 a.m. today. At the Buffalo hospital, he had been taken into surgery and died in the intensive care unit.
Had Climbed Ladder
The accident occurred at the South Street plant of the New York State Gas and Electric Corp. A spokesman for the utility said Mietz, who was working the late shift, had apparently climbed a metal stationary ladder to read the gauges, which tell the amount of coal being used and other data necessary in his job as stoker fireman. He had been employed at the plant since 1952. The spokesman said there were one or two other men in the plant at the time who summoned the rescue squad of the fire department. The utility, according to the spokesman, is conducting an investigation into the accident, the first of its kind. Native of Royalton Mietz was born in the Town of Royalton, April 30, 1910, the son of Herman and Christina Krebs Mietz. He is survived by his wife,, the former Irene Smith; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Hellert of Middleport, and two grandchildren, Mrs. Charles (Linda) Peterson of Columbus, Ohio; and John Hellert of Middleport. Friends may call at the Bernhardt Funeral Home, Akron. Services wil be held at St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Wolcottsville at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The Rev. Hilbert J. Huth will officiate. 27177 Walter F. Smolen III of the Town of Wheatfield, entered into rest on January 23, 2022 at the age of 74. Walt was born on May 1, 1947, in North Tonawanda New York. He was the cherished son of the late Helen and Anthony Smolen Sr. Walt is survived by a brother, Anthony (Christine) Smolen and a sister, Marie (late Robert) Fleischman. He was a loving husband to the late Catherine Smolen.

Walt was the father of Walter Smolen IV, Marc Smolen, Sharon (Joseph) Kramer and Elizabeth (Casey Becker) Fedeson. Walt was an adoring grandpa and papa to Meaghan, Ryan, Zachary, Kayleigh, Cararain, Audramoon, Grant, Amanda, Aiden, Annessa, Joey, Cecilia and Sienna. He was the great-grandpa of Aubrianna, Felix, Reyna, and Dominic. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Walt attended North Tonawanda High School and Niagara County Community College.
He worked as a millwright at the General Motors Tonawanda Powertrain Plant and was a member of the UAW Local 774.

Walt was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, the La Salle Sportsmen’s Club and the North Tonawanda Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 2163. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved travel, camping, kayaking and the outdoors. His many talents included wine making, photography, woodworking and home renovation.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m.- 6 p.m. on Saturday January 29th at Fretthold Funeral Home, 1241 Oliver Street, North Tonawanda. A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Private interment at White Chapel Memorial Park.

27178 Walter G. Belling, age 85, of Pendleton, passed away Friday November 6, 2009 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. Mr. Belling was born March 16, 1924, son of the late Henry and Auguste (nee Ewald) Belling. Mr. Belling attended Tonawanda High School, he served in the United States Army during WWII, he was a PFC with the 511th Airborne Signal Corps, serving from January 23, 1943 until his discharge on February 17, 1946. Mr. Belling was a self employed contractor, he was the Town of Pendleton Building Inspector, he also had worked in the display department for Sears and Roebuck. Mr. Belling was a active life time member of St. Martin Evangelical Lutheran Church, he was chairman of the renovation committee, in 1985 remodeling St. Martin Church, he designed and made the wooden cross for the church's altar. He headed the committee to build the addition to Pendleton's Historical Society where he also taught wood carving classes. He was a member of the Niagara Frontier all Airborne Chapter and it's Honor Guard. Mr. Belling was a expert wood carver, specializing in birds, he had built two homes and most of the furniture in them. 27180 Walter Glenwood Wade, formerly of Munson Avenue and currently of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at his home. He was 92. He was born in West Decatur, Pennsylvania on December 1, 1923, a son of the late Herschel and Mary (Myers) Wade. He attended Pennsylvania schools and then served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Wade moved to Niagara Falls and worked at Stauffer Chemical for 25 years and then at Olin Chemical from where he retired as a chemical operator.

Mr. Wade was a longtime member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.

He is survived by two children: John R. (Donna) Cooper of Virginia and Sharon Docteur of Minnesota, 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by 5 siblings: Josephine (Jack) Lengen, Robert (Donna) Wade, Lois (Irvin) Brydges, John (Helga) Wade and Alice (James) Helton.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Mary Louise Wade (2015) and his brother Herschel Wade.

Of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away while under the compassionate care of Niagara Hospice on December 22, 2018 at the age of 91. Loving husband to Bernice (nee Vogt) for 68 years; devoted father to Deborah (Thomas) McCauley, John (Donna Licata) Demler, Margaret (John) Pasiak, Maryalice Demler and Elizabeth Demler. Walter was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda and retired from the City of North Tonawanda's Wastewater Treatment Plant in 1993 after 25 years of service. 
He was a World War 2 veteran having enlisted in the U.S. Navy when he was just 17 years old. He served aboard the USS Thurston in the South Pacific during the key battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. 
Walter's passion and pride was his wife and family. He enjoyed camping, hunting, tending his backyard garden and cheering on the Buffalo Bills and Sabres.

He was a life-long resident of this city and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Mr. Fritz, a World War I Army veteran, was a member of Stephen Sikora Post 1522 American Legion, the Rescue Fire Company, the Firemen's Benevolent Association and the New York State Retirement Association. 27183 Walter J. Bos, 74, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 18th, 2018 at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Joseph M. and Margaret (Ryan) Bos.
Walter attended local schools and graduated from Bishop Duffy High School. He married his beloved wife, Carol A. (Farbo) Bos on April 4, 1964 at the former Our Lady of Rosary Church. Mr. Bos worked over 35 years in the retail industry including 12 years with the Peter J. Schmidt Wholesale Company where he achieved the level of Vice President of Operations. He was also a local professional wrestler, wrestling under the names as the “Executioner,” the “Crusher” and the “Polish Peacock.”  In his leisure time, he enjoyed reading, attending his children and grandchildren’s school and sporting events, playing Words with Friends, cheering on his favorite professional sports teams and collecting Michael Jordan paraphernalia. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his loving family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bos is survived by his children, Christopher (Amy) Bos, Kevin (Diane) Bos, Lisa Marie Bos; grandchildren, Peter, Brandi, Caitlyn and Danielle. He is also survived by one sister and one brother, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Walter served in the US Navy from 1963 to 1965. He worked for Harrison Radiator as a Flux Room Attendant. Walt enjoyed bowling, which he had bowled a 300 Game and an 800 Series; he also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and watching his son and grandchildren play sports. 27185 Walter J. Wiatr, Jr. passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016 at his home while under the care of his loving family and Niagara Hospice. He was born in Niagara Falls on May 28, 1940, the son of the late Walter and Sophie (Ciesielski) Wiatr, Sr.
Mr. Wiatr attended local schools and worked for the New York Central Railroad for 16 years. He then worked as an inspector at Harrison Radiator for 37 years and retired in 1999. On July 7, 1962 he was married to the former Dorothy Trzeciak at Holy Trinity Church. He was a great outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing and walking Hyde Park Golf Course. He enjoyed going to the casino, horse racing and was an avid Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan. Mr. Wiatr especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter and was a helpful friend to all his neighbors.
Mr. Wiatr is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy (Trzeciak) Wiatr; his children, Thomas (Diane) Wiatr of Niagara Falls, David (Anita) Wiatr of Las Vegas, NV, Kathleen (Mark) Becker of Niagara Falls and Michelle (Joseph) Holody of Erie, PA; his grandchildren, Michelle, David, Julia and Mary; great-granddaughter, Isabella; 7 step-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his brothers, Anthony Wiatr and John Wiatr; and his sisters, Rita Wylucki and Elizabeth Jaroszewski. He was predeceased by his sisters, Aline Pokoj and Adele Bateman.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 3 until 7 pm at the LABUDA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 356 Portage Road where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am with Rev. Jacek P. Mazur officiating. 27186 Walter Joseph Promowicz II, age 39 of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into rest on November 25, 2018 at his residence. Born February 9, 1979 in Brindisi, Italy; son of Robin (Ferris) Rohring and the late Roger A. Promowicz. Walter was a graduate of Buffalo State College, where he earned his bachelor's degree in computer science. He served in the United States Air Force, from 2002-2008. Walter was employed at Tops, on Grand Island, and presently at Walmart, in Niagara Falls. He enjoyed computers, gaming, hockey, and refereed children's hockey, when he lived in Florida.
Survivors include two children, Carolina Titer and Maxton Promowicz both of Niagara Falls; his mother, Robin Rohring; step-father, William Rohring; two sisters, Casandra (Michael) Korosi of FL and Alexis (Rob) Wrobel or Grand Island; a brother, Cory (Elizabeth) Promowicz of Buffalo; a nephew, Aiden Wrobel; and two nieces, Grace Promowicz and Viviane Wrobel.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday (November 30) at 7:00 p.m. in the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, with the Rev. Michael A. Keicher, officiating.

27187 Walter L. Ganshaw, age 88, of Wilson, entered into rest on Friday, February 12, 2010 in the family homestead on the Cambria-Wilson Road, Wilson. Born on Sept. 7, 1921, he was the son of the late Herman and Rose (Koeppen) Ganshaw and the 10th in their family of 12 children. Walter graduated from Wilson High School in 1938. When he joined the 4-H in its second year at the Wilson District 13 Schoolhouse, he had no idea it would afford him the opportunity to attend college. A $150 scholarship won by Walt for his 4-H record of achievement proved to be one of the most important events in his life. The scholarship not only prompted him to go to Cornell University in Ithaca, but also resulted in his career and passion as a 4-H executive dedicated to 4-H youth work. Once at college, he worked his way through by serving as a counterman in a cafeteria. He spent summers working as an assistant in the 4-H and on the family farm. In 1966, Walt was one of six 4-H Agents in the U.S. to receive a National "Distinguished Service Award." He was recognized for developing one of the state's outstanding county programs and his special efforts to grow the 4-H program in urban centers. Walt earned a Master's Degree from Michigan State University. Later in life, he enjoyed a second career at his friend, Don Luff's greenhouses.Walt was a lifelong member of North Ridge United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the Wilson Conservation Club. He also enjoyed membership in the Wilson Fire Company, the Wilson Historical Society, American Legion Post #531, and the Bargemen Barbershop Quartet. Walt's green thumb was evident in his lush gardens. He made weekly trips to the Clinton-Bailey Market in Buffalo to sell his produce through 2002. Walt's love of the outdoors literally proceeded him. He traveled in his pickup truck, the "Southern Tier Express," always looking forward to the next trip down the 219 and to his beloved hunting cabin. He celebrated patriotism. He enjoyed most sports (except the Yankees), fishing trips to the French River in Canada, bird watching, cooking and spending time with loved ones. Walter is survived by his brother, William Ganshaw of Cape Cod, MA and two sisters-in-law, Jackie and Elaine Ganshaw. Nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by six brothers, Fred, Herman, John, Harold, Ernest and Kelly; and four sisters, Anabell Freatman, Bertha Burns, Florence Jacobs and Lorena McDonough. Laur passed away September 22, 2021 in Ascension Living Our Lady of Peace, Lewiston.  Born September 14, 1931 in Niagara Falls he was the son of Christian and Marion (Schul) Laur.  Walter worked in production for Manpower in Niagara Falls.  He enjoyed woodworking and was a Buffalo Bills fan.
Walter is survived by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his siblings Al Laur, Clarence Laur, Helen Budde, Edna Robbins, Louise Tickett, and Dorothy Laur.

27189 Walter R. Hartman, Sr., just had celebrated his 95th birthday, passed away, unexpectedly, on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at his residence. Born on March 3, 1920, in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Edward and Emily (Hooper) Hartman. Mr. Hartman was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. Walter proudly served in the Merchant Marines, during World War II and was honorably discharged on August 15, 1945. On March 18, 1945, Walter married the former Marilyn Martin. For 43 years, he was employed by Union Carbide, until his re-tirement in 1982. Mr. Hartman was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Walter loved to walk. In addition to his beloved wife of 70 years on March 18th, Mr. Hartman is survived by one son, Walter R. (Carolee) Hartman, Jr. of Colorado; one grand-daughter, Emily Hartman of Utah; one adopted grandson, David Winters; one sister, Joann (William) Fearn of North Tonawanda, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Walter was predeceased by one grandson, Christopher Hartman and five siblings, Ethel Crawford, Evelyn, David, Donald and William Hartman. 27190 Walter R. Hyla, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at his son’s residence under hospice care in California. Born in Nanticoke, PA, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Lotnik) Hyla; and the beloved husband of the late Frances (Fitt) Hyla.
Walter moved to Niagara Falls in 1951 and earned his Associate’s degree in Mechanical Technology from Erie County Community College. On April 22, 1953. He enlisted in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1955.
Walter was employed by the Niagara Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant for over 27 years as an Instrument Technician. He was a devout Catholic and parishioner of the former Holy Trinity Church, as well as their senior group. Walter was also a longtime member of the American Legion Portage Post 1465 and several local pinochle clubs throughout Lewiston, NY and N. Tonawanda, NY.
Mr. Hyla is survived by his son Robert (Rebecca) Hyla; two grandchildren, Robert Hyla Jr. and Lauren Hyla; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife France, his daughter Lynn Marie, three brothers, Henry, Chester and Joseph Hyla, and his five sisters, Lottie Soldon, Jean Langley, Stella Ziolkowski, Loretta Labus and Sophie Ciszek.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 6 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Walter’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 7 at 10:00 AM in Divine Mercy Parish, 2437 Niagara Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14303. 27191 Walter R. Krause, age 98, of North Tonawanda, passed away February 10, 2011. Mr. Krause was born December 24, 1912 in North Tonawanda, son of the late William and Ida ( nee Wittkowsky) Krause. Mr. Krause was a life long member of Friedens United Church of Christ and a 57 year member of Columbia Hook and Ladder #1. Mr. Krause along with his late wife Joan had been Niagara County Foster Parents for over twenty years having over 20 children. Husband of the late Joan Krause who passed away in 2002; beloved father of Keith ( Christine) Krause of Liverpool NY, Terry ( late Maryann) Krause of Lyons NY, Rev. 27192 Walter S. Buchalski, age 91, of North Tonawanda, May 31, 2018 in Elderwood at Grand Island. Walter was the owner and operator of Walt’s Barber Shop in North Tonawanda, he had worked as a barber from 1948-2008. He was a WWII Marine Corp Veteran and was a member of the Marine Corps League, the American Legion Sikora Post and Portage Post, and the Amvets Post #26.
He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Sautkus) Buchalski. Beloved father of Martin (Robin) Buchalski. Grandfather of Lauren and Ian Buchalski. Brother of Henry (Carol) Buchalski and the late Stella Maurer, Felix, John, Matt, Leo, Chester, and Teddy Buchalski. Uncle of many nieces and nephews.

27193 Walter T. “Tom” Philbrick,  CCM, (78) of Vero Beach, FL, was summoned unexpectedly to his eternal resting place on January 12, 2019 following a brief illness. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Guy S. Philbrick.
 
Tom graduated from LaSalle Sr. High School in Niagara Falls in 1958 lettering in football and basketball.  Following high school, Tom served in the United States Marine Corp from May 5, 1959 until his honorable discharge on April 30, 1963.  After his tour of duty in the Marines, he graduated in 1967 from the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado with a BSBA degree in Business Administration.  For 33 years he worked in senior management positions in the private country club industry, notably the Belleair Country Club in Belleair, FL as General Manager and Assistant Secretary.  He retired from professional life in 2005, then worked briefly in real estate and property management. Over the years he developed a passion for the culinary arts, enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and visiting his childhood home in Niagara Falls, NY. He was committed to his Catholic faith servicing as a Eucharistic Minister and Usher at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Vero Beach, Above all, Tom was a devoted husband and father who gave all he had to those he loved.
 
Tom is survived by his wife and childhood sweetheart, Joanne (Cappello) Philbrick, one daughter, Leigh Ann (Philbrick) Valente of Mt. Dora, FL, two sons, Christopher John Philbrick of Naples, FL and Thomas Sterling Philbrick of Chesapeake, VA; one sister, Barbara L. Christian of Estes Park, CO; five grandchildren, Nicole, Madison, Thomas, Olivia, Drew Spurlock and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers Robert Miller Philbrick and Guy Sterling Philbrick;

TOWN OF WILSON - Walter J. Kraatz, 89, of 2324 Maple Rd., Town of Wilson, operator of a grocery store in Ransomville for 21 years, died yesterday (Nov. 7, 1983) in Inter-Community Memorial Hospital in Newfane after a short illness. Born in Lockport, he lived in Wilson for the past 13 years and before that in Ransomville. He was owner of the Kraatz Red and White Store in Ransomville, retiring in 1966, and had been associated with the food industry most of his life. A member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Ridge for 59 years, he was also a past chairman of the congregation of the church and was chairman of the dedication committee when the new church was built. He was also a member of the Ransomville Retirees. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude (Housmann); a son, Gerald W. Kraatz of Niagara Falls; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was the son of the late Charles and Louise (Galbraich) Kraatz. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Peter Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Musall officiating. She was born in Royalton, NY on July 20, 1935, the daughter of the late Herbert and Margaret Tanner Berndt. Wanda retired in 2005 from ICMH Newfane as a Registered Nurse. She enjoyed deer hunting and was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Newfane.
Mother of Beverly (Kent Geanangel) Anderson, Barbara (Earl "Pat") Garlock and Christian (Barbara) Bobzien. Grandmother of Brianna, Coby, Dylan, Jordan, Andrew and the late Alisha. 27198 Wanda M. (Juzwicki) Cutini, 96, of Lewiston, NY, died July 19, 2020 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Home. Born February 14, 1924 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Jozefa (Gorczynski) Juzwicki.
Wanda graduated from Niagara Falls High School and the International Academy of Beauty Culture. On February 15, 1947 Wanda married Michael Louis Cutini at Sacred Heart RC Church in Niagara Falls.
Wanda and Michael made their home in Lewiston, NY, where they raised their beloved three sons, Michael M. (Kristina) Cutini of Grand Island, NY, James G. (Melanie) Cutini of Bradenton, FL, and Jan Brian (Wanda) Cutini of Roswell, GA; grandchildren, Kristin Cutini of Cheektowaga, Michael G.Cutini of Pleasantville, NY, Ashley Cutini of Atlanta, GA, Alyssa Cutini-McLain of Canton, GA, Libby Cutini-Dobson of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Jacob Wawreniec and Ryan Wawreniec of Cheektowaga, NY, Michael Cutini and Sebastian Cutini of Pleasantville, NY, Katelyn Dobson of Atlanta, GA, Madeline Dobson of Macon, GA, Hannah McLain, Hayley McLain, Nick McLain of Canton, GA. Wanda is also survived by many nieces and nephews of the Cutini, Ferguson, Juzwicki and Toponak families.
A lifelong advocate of community service, Wanda volunteered for the Board of Elections Voting Committee, U.S. Census, Upper Mountain Fire Company's Exempts and Sacred Heart RC Church and St. Peter's RC Church Mother's Club. She was also a lifetime member of the Charles N. De Glopper Memorial VFW Post 9249 Auxiliary and the Lewiston Senior Club.
Wanda was predeceased by her husband, Michael L. Cutini, in 1983; and her brothers and sisters, Genevieve Ferguson, John Juzwicki, Stephen Juzwicki, Benjamin Juzwicki and Judith Toponak.
Wanda's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Brookdale Niagara, Our Lady of Peace Nursing Home and her niece, Tanis Toponak, for their loving care of Wanda, as well as Dr. Todd M. Orszulak and Dr. Sachin Wadawan.
Wanda donated her body to the University of Buffalo Medical School.
A celebration of life memorial service will be announced at a future date.

27199 WARBLOW - Robert Glenwood 82, of Etowah, NC, passed away June 20, 2014, after a lengthy illness. He was born on December 23, 1931 in North Tonawanda, NY to the late Glenwood and Edna Schroeder Warblow. He was the brother of the late James Warblow of North Tonawanda, NY. Robert is survived by his wife Dorothy Ann Keenan Warblow of Etowah, NC; a nephew, Robert Snyder; a great-nephew, Daniel Snyder and a great-niece Renee Snyder all of Tonawanda, NY. After graduating North Tonawanda High School, Robert received a degree in Interior Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. He then joined the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After the service he attended the University of Colorado at Denver and received a Masters Degree in Design. Interior Design was not just a job to Robert, it was something he loved. His clients were not just customers, but friends. He worked in interior design for 50 years before retiring. His work took him all over the United States and Canada. Robert loved to travel and meet new people. He loved the theater and classical music. Robert was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville, NC, where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on July 16, 2014 to celebrate his life. Age 65, of Lutz, Florida. Passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020. Mrs. Ward was born Denise Marie Meisenberg on August 14, 1954, in North Tonawanda, New York, and moved to Lutz, Florida in 2004. Before relocating to Florida, she was a longtime resident of Fairport Rochester, NY. Mrs. Ward was a dedicated Registered Nurse and Geriatric Nurse Practitioner for thirty years, providing love and care to Hospital and Hospice Patients in both NY and FL. She loved cooking, gardening, traveling and interior decorating, but most of all she loved Mark, her husband of thirty-five years, their sweet Scotties, Lenny and Lucy, and her Church where she was an active participant in Sunday services, bible studies and outreach programs. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lutz, FL. Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her mother Ruth; her father, Franklin; and her brother, Frankie (Louise). She is survived by her husband Mark; as well as her sisters, Caro Bowerman (Ernie), Lori Hinman (Mark) and Beth Thompson (Dennis); her brother David Meisenberg (Patti); loving in-laws, Trudy Newman (Roderick) and Lance Ward (Lynn); as well as twenty-one nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Ward will be held on her birthday, August 14, 2020, in Lutz, Florida, at the First United Methodist Church of Lutz.
