2753 | ames Robert Seitz, of Denver, N.C., beloved husband of Elizabeth (Goldman) Seitz and cherished father of Carter James Seitz and Peyton Elizabeth Seitz, passed away Sunday, Dec. 27 after a monthlong battle with pneumonia and COVID-19. Seitz, 51, was born on April 12, 1969 in Newfane, New York, to Dennis Roger (Debra) Seitz and the late Janice Miriam (Gow) Seitz. Jamie graduated from Williamsville (N.Y.) North High School in 1987, earned a Bachelors degree from Daeman College (Buffalo, N.Y.) in 1993 and obtained a Masters degree from SUNY Brockport in 2001. After more than a decade as a teacher and administrator in New York, Seitz moved to North Carolina and taught for 14 years, the last 12 at Lincoln Charter School where he earned acclaim as the school’s first coach to be a part of two state championships. Seitz was head basketball coach for six years at Lincoln Charter School, guiding the Eagles to the school’s first basketball conference championship. After taking a year off from coaching, he returned as an assistant coach and was instrumental in the Eagles’ current run of six consecutive conference titles. Included in that run was the school’s first-ever team state crown in 2017. That same year, he was head coach of the Eagles’ state championship golf team. His easy smile and upbeat attitude while teaching at Lincoln Charter Elementary School endeared him to the students, who were called to rapt attention daily by repeating Seitz’s favorite chant: “Let’s Go Buffalo.” Seitz grew up in a sports-oriented family. He was a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan. He also was a star baseball and basketball player at Williamsville North, earning All-Western New York acclaim in both. He, along with his father, Dennis, who was the coach at Williamsville North, were inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame together in February 2020. Seitz wasn’t just a star on the athletic field, he was a hero to his family, and in his community, too. He earned a medal for heroism from the Carnegie Hero Fund in 1999 after saving a young woman and her son from a knife attack in Corning, New York. It’s something he rarely spoke about. He was not shy at all, however, to speak about his greatest love — his family. Jamie adored his wife, Liz, whom he married Aug. 3, 2001, and his kids, Carter, 17, and Peyton, 13. And he was a favorite of hundreds of “adopted kids” — his students. In addition to his wife and children, and his father, he is survived by siblings Dennis Richard Seitz (Barbara) of Huntersville, N.C., Darcie Jean (Seitz) LaFever (Chad) of Olcott, N.Y. and Julie Marie (Seitz) Brummer (Henry) of Newfane, N.Y., in-laws, Joel and Jane (Stalker) Goldman and Becky Goldman (Eric Young) and many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. | SEITZ, James Robert (I130435)

2769 | An e-mail from calledone2@verizon.net on 5/18/2006 Dear Charlene: I noticed that your name and email address was at the top of the Widmeyer family line. I would like to clear up the name of Frank Widmeyer's first wife's name. Frank married my great-grandmother, Rachel Drucille Bandy. She was born to Richard Hasten Bandy and Mary Elizabeth Williams in Springfield on 24 Jan 1873. My documentation is their divorce papers from 1926 and a letter that my grandmother, Grace Widmeyer Schaller had from Mary to Rachel stating her parents birthdays. My grandmother was born to Frank and Rachel in 1910. I found them in the 1910 census. If you could update the site that would be great. I am not connected with that site. Thank you, Arleen Clark | WIDMEYER, Grace (I41283)

2770 | An early form of the Family Register was found in the 2nd microfilm of Mundingen. In it is shown all the surviving children of Anna Elisabetha Blifers first m. to Jacob Breymayer and her 2nd m. to Elias Fischer. On it appears Elias' date of birth and place of birth. The latter is not thus far decipherable. It is NOT Weilheim. It appears to be: Közgrs which makes no sense in the German language. In this FR, info is revealed as to the outcome of 5 sons of these two marriages. Those will appear in the Notes for each of them. Nothing was noted fro Maria Veronika b. 1779, but that I have traced and documented. | FISCHER, Elias (I4583)

2771 | Ananias "Nias" Bryant was a prominent farmer in the Lower English Creek Community at the turn of the century (end of 19th, beginning of 20th). His farm, which straddled the creek, was part of a larger tract purchased in the early 1800s by his grandfather, Tarlton Bryant, who came to Cocke County from South Carolina soon after the turn of that previous century. Bryant-Sisk Cemetery, where Ananias and many members of his family and descendants are buried, was originally part of that property. In 1867 Nias married Sarah Sisk, a granddaughter of Revolutionary War veteran Bartlett Sisk. Nias and Sarah were parents of a dozen children (7 buried near them in Bryant-Sisk). Three of their sons (Add, Judd and Lee) moved to Missouri, where they raised families. "Ananias" is a biblical name, with 3 characters in the Bible named Ananias, including a disciple of Jesus Christ. The initial "S." was for "Sodie" (Sodi), an Old Testament name. Nias considered himself a follower of Christ. (See cutline under the PB hymnal photo to the right). Nias was an active Primitive Baptist at the time his denomination was beginning to consider less rigid interpretations of the Scriptures. His uncle Brummit Bryant had been a Primitive Baptist minister. Two of Nias's sons, Joe and Lee, became Primitive Baptist ministers. His grandson Dan Clevenger (son of Lucinda) became a founder of a spin-off congregation of the Big Pigeon Primitive Baptist Church. Nias died at age 66 in 1916. Listed on his death certificate as undertaker was James Breeden, a son-in-law (husband of Cordelia). After Nias's death, James and Cordelia Breeden became owners his farm. Nias had 7 siblings. His brothers were Aaron, Judd and Thomas. His sisters were Martha (died as a teenager), Emma (Mrs. Sam McNabb of Ark.), Julia (Mrs. Clinton Holloway) and Mary (Mrs. J.A. Clevenger). BRYANT-SISK CEMETERY: In the late 1800s there were two Bryant cemeteries in the English Creek Community, both on Tarlton Bryant properties (about a mile apart). Tarlton had owned an Upper English Creek farm, his homesite left to son Brummit, and a Lower English Creek farm, left to son Hardy. The "Old Bryant Cemetery," the Tarlton Bryant Family Cemetery, was on the upper tract; the "New Bryant Cemetery" was created on the lower tract. The first burials in the new cemetery may have been a few slaves from the area. Sisk family burials may have preceded Bryants. These earliest graves were marked with fieldstones. The first chiseled inscription on a fieldstone was in 1878. The first incised lettering on a cut stone was in 1888. There is an engraved stone for Revolutionary War veteran Bartlett Sisk, who died in 1840, but his stone was placed there decades later, after his body was exhumed from the old Big Pigeon Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery and reburied in Bryant-Sisk. Hardy's sons Aaron and Ananias are buried there. A third son, Judd, is buried across the road in the Click-Hannon Cemetery. A third and more recent Bryant cemetery is the Will Tarlton Bryant Family Cemetery, also on the Upper English Creek tract. [Research by Gene Bryant, whose father, James ANANIAS Bryant, was a grandson of Nias. Thomas Nelson Bryant, one of Nias's sons and James's father, was living at Nias Bryant's old home place when James was born.] | BRYANT, Ananias Sodie (I179650)
