Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Mr. Stenzel died Monday (May 24, 1971) in Mount St. Mary Hospital, Lewiston, after a long illness. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the St. Johnsburg Fire Co., was a former welfare officer of the Town of Wheatfield for 25 years, and had operated the Uncle Bill Roller Rink in St. Johnsburg. He is survived by his widow, Elsie (lngwersen) Stenzel; five daughters, Mrs. Lewis Werth of the Town of Wheatfield; Mrs. Alfred Schimschack of California, and Mrs. Walter Newmann, Mrs. Robert Schoenfeldt and Mrs. Howard Sahr, all of North Tonawanda; a son, Howard G. Thorn, Jr. Died: February 08, 2016 Send Flowers William Clifford Thorn, Jr., 65, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Andover, Ohio on February 8, 2016. Born in Charlotte, NC, he was the loving son of the late William, Sr. and Clara (Pulvino) Thorn. William moved to the Niagara Falls area with his family as a child and attended the former St. Mary’s of the Cataract School. He was a graduate of the former Trott Vocational High School, where he studied Culinary Arts and began working as a Chef. He also attended Cosmetology school and worked at locally at various studios for many years. William was later employed as a social worker with Niagara Cerebral Palsy. In his leisure time, he enjoyed traveling to Europe and South America. Mr. Thorn is survived by his brother Wayne Thorn and was predeceased by his sister, Dianne Thorn. He is also survived by his Uncles John and Russel Pulvino; one niece Lisa Harless; cousins Mary Ellen (Richard) Olka, Kelly (Bryan) Brooks, Theresa (Larry) Pinghera and John Scott. A memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s of the Cataract Church in Niagara Falls at a later date. Vincent August 9, 1937 - February 22, 2019 It was first said, I believe, by Frank Morgan, that “A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others.” This could not be more true in the case of my dad, William Clifford Vincent, 81, of Middleport, NY who entered into rest at home om February, 22nd, 2019. Born on August 9th, 1937 in Vancouver, Canada to Army Brigadier General and NATO Officer, Gordon Vincent and wife Dorothy (Redding) Vincent, Bill’s upbringing steered him toward college and then into the Canadian Royal Navy. After years traveling abroad, he then pursued a career in music as a gifted session guitarist and singer in the 50’s and 60’s, meeting and playing alongside of industry greats, such as Jimi Hendrix at Electric Lady Land Studios in NYC and featured player on the original classic, “The Locomotion” by Little Eva. From NY to Detroit to LA, he lived the life of a troubadour, making little money, sleeping on various floors and relishing every moment! After a brief and uneventful first marriage, his second marriage to my mother, Paula (Corrallo) made him a parent. With a new family to provide for, Bill left LA session work and settled for some time in Lockport, NY in 1970 garnering himself a “real job” at General Motors’ Harrison Radiator Division (where he eventually retired in 1997). Forever the consummate musician, he continued to play in local groups and teach guitar to future WNY greats, Such as Dave Stoll of “The Stoll Brothers” fame. It was at Harrison’s (after a second child, subsequent divorce and brief marriage/divorce to Bonnie) where he, at long last, had found his soulmate, Linda L. (nee Jakabowski), Vincent who’s unyielding devotion and love nurtured Bill through his difficult last few years of failing health. They were married on June, 18th, 1990 in Barker, NY and settled in Middleport, NY where they have resided for 30 years in his beloved log cabin. As an avid outdoorsman, he spent his retirement hunting, fishing, making lures, wine and music, traveling and enjoying his family and loving Linda’s children and grandchildren as much as he loved his own. He overcame many health-related obstacles over the past decade or so, surviving multiple bouts of skin cancer, heart attacks, dual hip replacements and fatigue brought on by a combination of a quarter century of hard work and a lifetime of hard livin’, none of which dampened his spirit quick sense of humor and lust for life. His last few years were spent loving his partner and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whenever time and circumstance would allow. He passed from this life to join his beloved father and mother as a Christian, realizing that he was valued, appreciated and loved without measure by the people he had bestowed his wisdom and his devotion upon. We, his family and friends, will carry his love with us wherever we go and empart his lust for life to all we encounter, cementing his legacy as a man who lived life on his own terms, never apologizing for a life well lived. William Edward Weiss, 63, of Titusville, died on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at the Merritt Island Health Care facility in Merritt Island, Fla. He was a retired computer programmer for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles in Albany, before moving to Florida seven years ago to escape the cold weather. Born on September 14, 1951, in Buffalo, he was the first child of Alton M. Weiss and the late Naomi J. Weiss. He was a 1969 graduate of Margaretville Central School and went on for two years to attend Albany State University. After school and several fill-in jobs, he started with the DMV as a computer punch card processor, moving up the ladder until he eventually became a programmer. He was instrumental in the development of computer programs that tied the DMV records together with other states, and eventually with some other countries. As a youth, Bill was a Boy Scout and earned his God and Country award. He very much enjoyed being on the camp staff at Beach Mountain Scout Camp in Sullivan County for several summers. What started out as a Cub Scout project to put together a stamp collection turned out to be a lifelong interest for Bill. He has a vast stamp collection from all parts of the globe and spent many hours working on his collection. Mr. Weiss is survived by his father, Alton M. Weiss of Margaretville; one brother, Donald P. Weiss of Margaretville; three sisters, Ruth C. (Stephen L.) Haffly of Wake Forest, N.C., Lisa K. (Thomas P.) Ruane of Peoria, Ariz., and Marta B. Weiss (Dan Kilmer) of Wassaic. Also surviving are his aunt Ann Kircher of Scotch Plains, N.J.; three nephews, two nieces, three great-nephews and three great-nieces. He was predeceased by his mother, Naomi (Kircher) Weiss. | 27723 | William G. Lange, age 94 of Wheatfield, NY, was called to his heavenly home on November 16, 2019 at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY. Born in the Walmore area of Niagara County, NY, he was the son of the late William F. and Esther (Walck) Lange. Bill graduated from St. Peter's Lutheran School in Walmore, Trott Vocational High School in Niagara Falls, and Valparaiso Technical Institute in Indiana, where he received a degree in electrical engineering. Bill began work at Colonial Radio in Buffalo, NY, followed by employment at Bell Aerospace Textron in Wheatfield, for 40 years as an electrical engineer, and he designed the microgravity accelerometer. After retirement at Bell, he became president of Canopus Products in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he worked for five years developing the microgravity accelerometer used on the Space Shuttle, and the International Space Station. Later, Bill served as a consultant to Spectrum Astro in Gilbert, Arizona for several years. He was inducted into the Niagara Frontier Aviation and Space Hall of Fame in May 2012. After retirement, Bill enjoyed building and flying radio controlled airplanes, with his son David. He also collected models of military planes, enjoyed reading history novels, watching the History Channel, and cheering for the Pirates and Steelers. Bill was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Walmore, and served his church as Sunday School Superintendent, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Elder, and Co-Chairman of the church's new entrance building committee. Bill married Shirley Walck in 1949, and she preceded him in death in March 1989. They were blessed with four children, Kathleen (Rev. David) Beutel, David (Barbara) Lange, Steven (Sandra) Lange, and Brian (Leslie) Lange. Survivors also include his wife, Nancy I. (Mueller-Baum) Lange; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Alice Lange. He was also preceeded in death by an infant son, Bradley; a brother, Norbert, and two sisters, Gertrude (Elwood) Krull, and Eleanore (Norman) Moll. Visitation will take place in St. Peter's Ev. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Daniel and Gertrude (Downey) Grace and the beloved husband of Mary Lou (Holmes) Grace, who he married on August 25, 1956. Bill graduated from Bishop Duffy High School where he excelled in football. He then went on to serve in the National Guard. He worked at Nabisco Shredded Wheat in Niagara Falls in the Maintenance Department for over 35 years. Bill was a Member of the Moose Lodge and was involved with the Moose Lodge Travel Baseball, as well as having coached for LaSalle Little League Zone 6 for many years. One of his biggest passions, however, was Notre Dame Football. He loved to go watch them play, and made countless trips there through the years with his family and friends. | 27729 | William H. "Buddy" Brydges, age 74, passed away at his home in Naples, FL, on Tuesday May 2, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. He was born on October 21, 1943 in Niagara Falls, NY, to Earl W. Brydges and Eleanor (Mahoney) Brydges. He attended high school in Wilson, NY. Upon graduation he attended St. John Fisher in Rochester, NY. He was faithfully called to serve with the Edmundite Missions in Selma, AL. He proudly served in the Army National Guard. He received his degree from the State University of New York at Albany. He had a long and distinguished career as the Deputy Chief Clerk of the New York State Court of Claims. On October 11, 1968, he married the love of his life Barbara Ann Dumas. Together they have four daughters and one son. Buddy lived life to its fullest. He loved the horses at Saratoga Racetrack, the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. His greatest talent, however, was as a storyteller. His humor, wit and charm were undeniable. To his children's chagrin, he never missed an opportunity to grab a microphone, the center of the stage, and entertain the crowd. The only thing he loved more than sinking a putt to beat one of his brothers or his cousin in golf was to talk about it after. He was incredibly generous to family, friends and strangers alike. Nothing gave him more joy than to start a day getting his grandchildren dozens of Dunkin' Donuts and end it cooking family and friends his famed seafood pescatore. A true family man, Uncle Bud was beloved by his nieces and nephews. He was a man of great faith and attended Mass regularly. He will be missed by all who had the great fortune to know him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Jerry. Born on May 4, 1944 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Harry and Rose (Caccamise) Robins. William attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School. He worked for General Motors in Lockport, NY as an assembler, and retired in 1999, and later worked for Car Star. He was the co-founder of the Eastern Bicycle Association (EBA) and ran a local BMX track. He enjoyed Corvettes, detailing cars and going to car shows. William loved carpentry and was always busy helping others with projects. William was also a model train enthusiast who enjoyed going to train shows, and was also a member of the Western New York Garden Railroad Society. He enjoyed referring to himself as Mick Jagger and seeing people’s responses. William is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Mary Ann (Cramb) Robins, four children, Rose Ann (Joseph) Rawleigh, Joseph Robins, Kevin (Karen) Robins, and William (Dawn) Robins; seven grandchildren, Joann (Jeremy) Pollow, Elizabeth Rawleigh, Michelle Rawleigh, Kristin Robins, Samantha Robins, Victoria Robins, and Andrew Robins; three great grandchildren, Aaron Rawleigh, Gered Welker and Dominick Zientara. He was an avid Purdue basketball fan for many years; after both children graduated from Indiana University, Bill transitioned to a die-hard IU basketball supporter. Bill was the son of the late Albert and Clara Strasburg, also of Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY. A veteran, Bill served in the US Army during World War II. In 1952 he married Shirley Alcorn, also a native of Niagara Falls, now residing in Mobile, AL. They were happily married for 55 years. In addition to serving in the military, Bill worked on the Niagara Power Project and then for Pittsburgh Metallurgical (later called Airco Alloys and then Macalloy). In 1971 he was transferred to Mobile, AL as the company's traffic manager and then later to Charleston, SC, where he retired. He and Shirley returned to Mobile, AL last year in order to live closer to their children. Bill, a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle, is survived by his four children, Kathy Gresh, Maryland, Karen McNeal, GA, William Strasburg, FL and Charles Strasburg, AL; 12 grandchildren; four brothers, Robert, Niagara Falls, Richard, AZ, Albert, FL, Jack, Niagara Falls; one sister, Joanne Millville, Niagara Falls and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brothers, Donald and Charles. Although Bill left the Niagara area in the 1970s, he remained a loyal Buffalo Bills fan and always enjoyed his visits to the area. He often said that he didn't miss the snow, but he did miss the people and the food. He lived for extended periods of time in Erie, PA, Alexandria, VA, Toronto, Canada, and Derby, NY before his final residence in The Villages. Bill had a lifelong interest in sailing enjoying many hours on Lake Erie. Other interests included reading and collecting books as well as traveling. Born in Howesville, WV on July 29, 1929 to the late Albine and Eva (Lewis) Syruws. Bill moved to the Western NY area in 1948 and on December 2, 1949, he was united in marriage to Mary C. (Garlitz) Syruws. He was employed for many years at the Occidental Chemical Company in Niagara Falls, until his retirement. Hobbies and interest included hunting, fishing, gardening and in the 1990s, he and his wife owned five race horses. He was born in Niagara Falls on February 17, 1939, a son of the late Frederick and Lillian (Wright) Bridgeman. He attended local schools and then graduated from the Bradley School of Music in Niagara Falls, Ontario. John played the organ in every church in Niagara Falls and was the organist and choir director at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Niagara Falls for over 30 years. He also taught music and was the organist for Prince of Peace Church for 15 years. John loved people and had a passion for physical fitness and would routinely visit several gyms in the area to excercise. He is survived by his niece Robyn (Dennis) Toth of Pendleton, nephew Robert “Bobby” Bridgeman of Sanborn and niece Lynn (Christopher) Coleman of Lockport. Born June 10, 1924 in Niagara Falls, oldest son of William and Geraldine (Roberts) McCabe. He was the loving husband of Christine (Oliver), who he married August 2, 1947. He was a WWII US Navy Veteran who served three years in the South Pacific. Following the war he entered the electrical business, eventually becoming owner/President of McCabe-Corcoran Electric. He was past President and Governor of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), and upon his death was the oldest living member of IBEW LU.237. He pursued his love of flying, owning his own private plane for over 40 years. He was an avid golfer and long-time member of the Niagara Falls Country Club. He was also a past member of the Niagara Club and Kiwanis Club. | 27748 | William P. Blanchard, 83, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Thursday, December 8, 2016 in Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Born in Tupper Lake, NY, William was the son of the late Edward C. and Veronica (Bedore) Blanchard. Mr. Blanchard was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. In 1951, he graduated from the former LaSalle High School. Following his graduation until 1953, William attended both Cortland State and Buffalo State College. He then enlisted and proudly served as a Sargent, in the United States Marine Corps, during the Korean War, from August 10, 1953, until his honorable discharge on August 9, 1956. Later that month, on August 25, 1956, Mr. Blanchard married the former Irene Gandt and was married for 42 years. She predeceased him on January 24, 1999. Following his service and marriage, Mr. Blanchard returned to his studies at Buffalo State College, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1960, all while working at International Paper. William then went on to receive his Masters of Science Degree, from Buffalo State College, in 1970, while also studying at Albany State College and the University at Buffalo. From 1960, until his first retirement in 1978, he was employed as a teacher for various local schools, spending most of career at the former Pacific Avenue School. While teaching, Mr. Blanchard became the founder and served as the first president of the Niagara Falls Teachers Union #801, where he acted as coordinator of the first Niagara Falls teacher strike and in 1975, William lead their second strike. From 1975 until 1978, he served as the NYSUT District #3 Election Director. He then served as a Labor Relations Specialist for the NYSUT, until his second retirement in 1993. Mr. Blanchard was a member of Tan Tara Golf Club, achieving 2 holes-in-one, both on the the 10th hole. William also bowled on the School Master Bowling League for 50 years. He was proud of his service in the Marine Corp and was a life-member of the Conrad F. Kania Detachment #230, Department of New York Marine Corps League, North Tonawanda, New York. In his spare time, Mr. Blanchard enjoyed following the New York Yankees and woodworking. Mr. Blanchard is survived by one son, Michael (Cathy) Blanchard; two daughters, Patti-Anne (Barry) Mitchell and Wendy (Craig) Blanchard-Hastings; six grandchildren, Shannon and Stacey Hazlett, Stephanie (Floyd) Clinard, Phillip (Adrienne) Mitchell, Jennifer Mitchell and Jeffery (fiancé, Stephanie Falvo) Mitchell and six great-grandchildren, David Wilson, III, Ryan and Bradley Clinard, Raelyn Benson, Lilly Bennett and Violet Mitchell; William is also survived by three brothers, Thomas (Barbara) Blanchard, Terry ( Michaele) Blanchard and Robert (Terri) Blanchard; his longtime companion, Patricia Kilbury and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. (Clark) Janese and the late Frank C. Janese; and the beloved husband of Sharon A. (Renda) Janese, who he married on June 25, 2010. William moved to Niagara Falls as a child with his family and graduated from the former LaSalle Senior High School. For over 30 years, he was employed as a millwright at Great Lakes Carbon prior to his retirement in 2002. William was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved watching the New York Yankees, Fox News, the Food Network, Outlaw Josey Wales, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. William enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Wellsville that he built with his own two hands. He would host numerous wild game parties with family and friends. William was a jack of all trades and could fix or build anything. He loved dancing, as well as ordering from Amazon and QVC. Above all, William loved spending time with his family, and cherished the time spent with his children in Bobcaygeon, Ontario, every summer. He will be deeply missed. In addition to his mother, Rosalie and his wife, Sharon, he is survived by his daughter, Carla (Benjamin) Reynolds, William Janese, Jr. (fiancé Jamie Monihan), Jennifer Janese (Ron), his stepson, Shaun Frantz; his granddaughter, Kaylee Ann Woodruff; two siblings, James (Barbara) Janese and Debra (Robert) Forgione; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
