Alice M. Berner, formerly of Gasport, passed away Friday, January 28, 2011 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Medina, NY. Mrs. Berner was born in Newfane, NY on August 19, 1917, daughter of the late John and Kathleen (Heck) Klumpp. Mrs. Berner had lived in the Gasport area most of her life and was employed at W.T. Grant in Lockport, NY, and also worked in the cafeteria at the Gasport Elementary School. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Middleport and she enjoyed her family, gardening, cooking and baking. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth J. Berner in l996; and by her siblings, Lillian Heckel, Elmer Klumpp, Ruth Ferguson, Kay Kaufman, Frieda Klumpp and Walter Klumpp. She is survived by two sons and one daughter, Beverly Craig of North Tonawanda, Buddy Berner of Holley, NY and Brian (Susan) Berner of Gasport; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may all Tuesday from 3 to 7 PM at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport, and Wednesday from 10 to 11 AM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Rt. 31, Middleport, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. David Triplett officiating. Burial will be in Orangeport Cemetery. Anthony F. Borgese, 63, of Lexington, KY, formerly of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2016 in his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Niagara Falls on June 8, 1952 to Frank and the late Marie (nee Paradise) Borgese.

A Niagara Falls native, Anthony was a graduate of Bishop Duffy High School and a proud graduate of Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. On October 22, 1988, the former Sharon Spendio married Anthony in St. Joseph Church. She passed away in 2008. Tony was a retired Sales Executive with Brown & Williamson and was a member of Pax Christi Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and Xavier basketball fan. He also loved oldies music, classic cars, drinking coffee at all hours during the day and night, food and traveling to visit his family and friends.

He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Borgese of Dallas, TX and Mary Borgese of Lexington, KY; his father, Frank A. (Jennie) Borgese of Niagara Falls; three sisters, Alberta (Murray) DeMartino of Grand Island, NY, Irene (Frank) Felicetti of Lewiston, NY and Marie (James) Massaro of Grand Island, NY; three sisters-in-law, Rita (James) Mijka of Niagara Falls, NY, Diane (Joseph) Cimino of Lewiston, NY and Christine (David) Rulli of Niagara Falls, NY; his special aunt, Connie Borgese of Niagara Falls, NY; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Anthony was predeceased by his mother and his wife of 20 years, the late Sharon (nee Spendio) Borgese and his mother and father-in-law, the late Mary and Frank Spendio.

There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. Norman "Norm" Reichert passed into the Lord's hands on January 29 at Schoellkopt Health Center after a brief illness. Norm was born of the late Edward and Sophia (Sodke) Reichert at home on the family homestead in The Town of Wheatfield in 1926. Norm was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. He and his wife Betty (Courtier) were married in 1957. They were married for 38 years until Betty's passing in 1995. Norm and Betty enjoyed local travel, sightseeing and camping.

Norman Served in the US Army from 1946 - 1950 winning the Combat Infantry Badge, American Campaign Ribbon, WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon. Norm also served in the Army National Guard, Artillery, from 1955-1957.

Following his military service Norm worked at the Herschell Carrousel Factory, drove truck and concrete mixer and was the maintenance

the maintenance superintendent at Niagara County Sewer District 1 from where he retired. Norm enjoyed road rallying and sportscar activities with many car clubs including the Lockport Sportscar Club. Norm was also very active with the Western New York Gas & Steam Engine Association as well as numerous historical societies. Antique tractors, gas engines and farm equipment was a favorite hobby of his. Almost any time you stopped by the farm you could hear an antique hit & miss engine running. Norm was also a member of The American Legion Post 1451.

Norm is survived by his son Wayne, daughter-in-law Nancy (Genet), sister Irene Gresock, grandson Jeffery Flach, grand- daughter Dawn Windnagle and numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. Norm was predeceased by his daughter Marley Waterstram.

There will be a service of worship and remembrance for Norman on Sunday February 8 at 12:30 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 453 Old Falls Blvd. North Tonawanda NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Niagara County Hospice. Arrangements were with the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME (731-3234).

Dorothy I. Beseth-Woodruff, 90, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2016 at Mt. St Mary's Hospital. She was born on February 19, 1925, in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Harry and Susie (Brukacker) Humphrey.

Dorothy grew up in Niagara Falls, NY, where she attended local schools and later became a long time resident of Lewiston.

She was employed at John's Flaming Hearth, retiring after 40+ years of service. Dorothy developed very special lifelong relationships with friends and regular customers. Prior to working at John's she was employed at the Unique Coffee Shop on Old Falls Street where she met and fell in Love with Bud Beseth. Later she was employed at the Around the Clock and Hotel Niagara's Indian Room.

Dorothy enjoyed interior decorating, fashion and fine dining. Above all she enjoyed spending time with family and loved ones. She spent a life serving others always with a smile and all that knew her will cherish her memory. " You now dwell amongst the Angels."

Dorothy was the wife of the late Charles 'Bud' Beseth and late Joseph Woodruff. She is survived by her son, Daniel C. Beseth; daughters, Cindy Beseth-Shomers and Diane (Doug) Snelling; grandchildren ,John Shomers, Ryan (Stephanie) Shomers, Shannon Beseth, Scott (Charlene) Beseth and Claire Woodruff; great-grandchildren, Charlie and Anna Shomers; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Woodruff. She was the sister of the late Hector, Roy and Frank Humphrey, Hazel (Bob) Davis, Florence (Clifford) Wilson and Mabel Humphrey.

The family will be present on Saturday, January 16 from 12-4 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga St, LEWISTON, NY, with services at 4:00 PM.

Patricia (Amendola) Custode passed away on Friday, June 5, while surrounded by loved ones at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She was 77 years of age. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on March 5, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Rose (Moretti) Amendola and was a life-long resident of Niagara Falls, NY. On September 7, 1957, she married the love of her life, Lewis D. Custode, Sr. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and was predeceased by him on April 1, 1993.

With her husband, Patricia owned and operated Amendola Printing on Pine Avenue. She loved to knit, play bingo and make crafts with ceramics, but her true passion was cooking. Those who knew her will forever remember her famous Sunday dinners, where she would lay out an Italian feast for her family and friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who took pride in each of the many accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. To Patricia, nothing was more important than family.

Patricia is survived by her brother, John (Judy) Amendola of Las Vegas, NV; her children, Ann Marie (Glenn) Waud, Lewis (Maria) Custode, Jr. and Anthony M. Custode, Sr.; grandchildren, Barbara Casavant, Laura (Patrick) Keiper, Anthony M. Custode, Jr., Kelly Custode, Christina Custode and Patrick Custode; great-grandchildren, Trynity Keiper, Patrick Keiper II, Devin Custode, and Gavin Miller, all of Niagara Falls; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth A. Amendola (Sister Rosetta, OSF).

Kenneth D. Luzak, a longtime Niagara Falls resident died on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 peacefully at home. He was born in the Town of Lockport on March 8, 1934, the son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Mietlicki) Luzak.

Kenneth attended Fifth Street School and was a graduate of the former LaSalle Jr./Sr. High School. A veteran of the US Navy, he served during the Korean War aboard the USS Laffey. Following his service time he worked for Niagara Junction Railroad for several years before being inducted as a policeman for the Niagara Falls Police Department. Kenneth retired in 1984 after 23 years of service.

He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly (Wills) Luzak in 1994; a daughter, Kelly Luzak; and sister, Patricia (Kozlowski) Luzak. He is survived by his children, Kimberly Cimini of Las Vegas, Kenneth D. Luzak, Jr. (Nancy) of Las Vegas and Kevin Luzak (MaryEmma) of Niagara Falls; grandchildren, Matthew and Nicholas Cimini; Joshua and Jacob Luzak, Kenny III and Justin Luzak; a sister, Marilyn Kilbury of MS; his companion, Anna Mitravich and her children, Colleen, Anthony, Joseph and Taramarie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Michael J. Ingham, Esq., 49, passed away peacefully of natural causes in his Williamsville, NY home on Monday, March 16, 2015. Michael was born in Fallbrook, CA on August 20, 1965 to John J. and Henrietta (nee Bartos) Ingham.

Michael attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1983. He received his Bachelors Degree from SUNY Binghamton in 1987 and earned a J.D. degree from Albany Law School in1990. Michael was selected to serve on the Law Review. Following graduation, he worked as a Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney, and also worked as an assistant in the NYS Attorney Generals office on Long Island. In 2003, Michael returned to Niagara County, and worked in the Niagara County District Attorney's Office as an assistant District Attorney and later established private practice throughout Western New York as a criminal attorney. Michael enjoyed the local sports and was an avid hockey fan and while at Binghamton was captain of the hockey team.

Besides his parents, Michael is survived by his son, Matthew J. Ingham; four siblings, John (Hillary) Ingham, Paul (JoAnn) Ingham, Nancy (Peter) Ditzel and Mary Kathryn (Donald) Willhelm; and seven nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 10 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Longtime Farmer of Barker

Ronald Edward Hurtgam passed away peacefully at home on March 7, 2015 with his loving wife of 65 years, Wilma (Bayles) Hurtgam, by his side. He was son of Edward and Winfred (Brawn) Hurtgam; predeceased by brother, Mervin Hurtgam; and infant son, David William Hurtgam.

Ronald is survived by seven children, Keith (Darlene) Hurtgam, Kathy Hurtgam Frost, Karen (Bob) Boyle, Karyl (Rich) Miller, Lora (Jeff) Partyka, Michael Hurtgam, Barbara (Tim) Kraus; fourteen grandchildren, Chad (Cathrine) Hurtgam, Amanda (Tom) Detschner, Mathew Hurtgam, Jeff (Debora) Frost, David Frost, Jason (Stacy) Boyle, Derek Boyle, Megan (Andrew) Hyatt, Katie (Noah) Miller, Kim (David) Stoll, Steven and Scott Partyka, Jamie (David) Schwab, Kristina Hurtgam and nineteen great-grandchildren; beloved dogs, Buster, Maggie and Pewee; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Edith Faery, Shirley (Late John) Hartmann, Steve and Sue Bayles and Joyce (Late Bill) Bayles.

Ronald loved to farm and loved his animals. He continued to farm and care for animals up to the last months of his life. He was an adverturous snowmobiler and enjoyed playing Euchre. He loved to tractor pull and ride in his l977 pace car Mustang. He was a member of Masons for 52 years at the Gasport Lodge No. 787. He enjoyed chewing the rag with his friends and fellow farmers. Known for his hard cider and whiskey cherries that he enjoyed sharing with friends. He will be missed but never forgotten by his loving family. Thank you for everything Dad and Grandpa!

Donald F. "Pete" Martin, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on October 30, 2014, at Eastern Niagara Hospital, Newfane, NY. Pete was born on October 22, 1930, in Wilson, NY, the son of the late Charles and Clara (Frederecks) Martin.

Pete joined the Sanborn Fire Co. on September 28, 1959, where he took his first E F Course from Ed Roll. Over the years, he had taken at least 27 State Courses, including at the N.Y. State Fire Academy in Montour Falls, NY and the National Fire Academy in Emmittsburg, MD. He was appointed Fire Company Foreman in 1966, elected 2nd Asst. Chief in 1969, 1st Asst. Chief in 1972, Chief in 1976, 2nd Asst. Chief in 1978, and Chief from 1979-1982. Other Fire Co. offices he held were Treasurer in 1984, Vice-President 1985-88, President from 1988-92, then Treasurer from 1993-97, President of the Niagara County Fire Chiefs Association in 1983, President of the Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association in 1997. He started the Bingo Committee for the Sanborn Fire Co. in 1968 and was Sanborn's first Bingo Chairman, and was still an active Bingo worker. He served on the Line of Duty Committee for both the N.C.V.F.A. and N.C.F.C.A for six years, Chairman for the last three years. He had served on the last six truck committees for Sanborn Fire Co., also on the Building Committee for the New Truck Hall addition. He has served as President of the Niagara County Firemen's Bingo Association for the last six years. In 2003, Pete was the recipient of the Watson Award.

In 1949, Pete played on the Wilson Lakemen Six Man Football team that ran the gamut with three consecutive undefeated seasons. Coached by Walter J. Hutchison, they went on a 17-game winning streak and three straight League Championships. Pete was inducted into the Wilson High School Hall of Fame in 2009.

Pete served his country in the United States Air Force where he was a Radar Operator. He also was employed as an Engineering Technician at Harrison Radiator. Mr. Martin enjoyed golfing, gardening, mowing his lawn, looking at the Autumn leaves, Christmas lights and loved to spend time at the Sanborn Fire Hall. Pete also belonged to the American Legion and Oddfellows.

Pete is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Clara M. Read; they were married on October 27, 1951. He leaves behind his four daughters who he referred to as "Pete's Girls": Pamela (late Peter) Treichler, Elizabeth (Dennis) Lawler, Elena Martin and Wendy (Randy Wysocki) Martin; grand-daughters, Miranda (Thomas) Josker and Jennifer Wysocki; sister, Betty (late Albert) Goater. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Martin was the brother of the late Stanley Martin and Ruth Phillips.

The family will be present Sunday, November 9, 2014, from 12-4:00 PM at the Sanborn Fire Company, 5811 Buffalo St., Sanborn, NY, where funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM, with Rev. Jeffery K. Becken, of Kure Beach, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. He was born in Lewiston, NY on March 15, 1972, the son of Ronald C. and Elaine (Jaquay) Becken of Sanborn, NY.

Jeff graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School in 1990 and from Rochester Institute of Technology, with his degree in Civil Engineering. Before moving to North Carolina in 1995, Jeff was involved with the family farm. Jeff was the Vice President of Catlin Engineers & Scientists in Wilmington, NC. He was actively involved with his son's sporting events and enjoyed surfing, running and competing in Triathlons. He was a member of the Lifepoint Community Church in Wilmington.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Nicole (Beecher) Becken; one son, Jared Becken; a sister, Amber (Steve) Stainbrook; many aunts, uncles, cousins, several nieces and nephews. He was the grandson of the late Carl and Gertrude Becken.

Joseph Gerard "Gerry" E. Routhier, 83, formerly of Lewiston, NY passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Hope Hospice Home in Cape Coral, FL. Born in Marshfield, VT. He was the son of the late Albert and Rose (Goupil) Routhier.

Gerry, as he was known by his family and friends, worked as a contractor and carpenter in the Western New York area for over fifty five years until he retired. Following his retirement, he moved to Florida where he currently resided. Gerry enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and reading. But his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Gerry is survived by eight children; two daughters: Jolie (Chris) Routhier Vela of Greenlawn, NY; Kolette (Chris) Kreuzer of Buffalo, NY and six sons: Jerry (Linda Duke) Routhier, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY; Lonnie (Jamie) Routhier of Howell, NJ; Mark Routhier of Tempe, AZ; Jack (Amy) Routhier of Lewiston, NY; Randy (Sara) Routhier of Taylor, AZ; Todd (Susan) Routhier of Amherst, NY and was predeceased by one son, Rodney Routhier. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, four sisters: Pauline (Charles) Fuhrmann of North Ft. Marilyn Ann (nee Batt) Adams, age 89, of North Tonawanda, at the Beechwood Wells House. Marilyn was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish. Marilyn retired from Seneca Blueprint where she was the Manager. She previously worked for Remington-Rand. Her family (the Batt Family) were active in North Tonawandas history. They were founders and builders of Ascension R.C. Church, St. Francis R.C. Church and Sts. Peter and Paul R.C. Church in Amherst. They owned a lumber mill, grinding mill and were also in banking. Locally they were the owners of the now Crazy Jakes Building which was a local hardware store. Daughter of the late James and Josephine Batt. Sister of the late Melvile Batt and Vernon Batt.

Beloved mother of David (Cindy) Adams of North Tonawanda, Deborah (Donald) Gordon of the Town of Tonawanda and Diane (Gene) Boney of Indian Trail, NC. Proud grandmother of Jason Adams and Taren ("T.J.") Phillips. Great-grandmother of Anthony Zummo, Quinn, Maeve and Norah Phillips. Also survived by two nephews.

Linda C. Gregory, beloved wife of John Gregory, passed on November 5, 2014 at her home in Tampa, FL. Mrs. Gregory was born April 26, 1954, in Coudersport, PA. The daughter of Betty Annalora and Gerald Besse. She grew up in Lockport, NY and moved to Tampa, FL in 1983. Linda was employed at the Tampa Airport for over 25 years. She was medically retired in 2014.

Surviving are her husband John Gregory, her mother Betty Annalora, her son Raymond Pachmayr (Bobbie) and the light of her life, her granddaughter, Olivia born in July, and also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many other loving family members.

Mrs. Gregory was predeceased by her father Gerald Besse, her two sisters, Teresa Guidry, and Lorraine Johnson, and her stepfather Ted Annalora.

She was born in Lockport, NY on October 3, 1931, the daughter of the late Doval and Eva Muir Whitehead. Vivian married Richard V. Forsyth on September 16, 1950.

She worked for Ridge Road Express as a Bus Driver in the Newfane Central School District for many years and was an avid bowler. Vivian loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Loving mother of Vicky (David) Wood of Newfane, Sally (Christopher) Weber of Burt, NY, Patty (Robbie Goolsby) Forsyth of Newfane and William (Allison) Forsyth of Niantic, CT. Donald Douglas Krueger, Jr., 63, of Lockport, NY, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Buffalo General Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the loving son of the late Donald Krueger, Sr. and Barbara (Hamilton) Krueger.

Don grew up working at his family's business, Krueger Pontiac located in Niagara Falls, NY. He then continued his career in property management and real estate. Don was a longtime, active member of the Elks Lodge #41in Lockport, NY, where he served as an officer and was head of the house committee. He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting and sailing, as well as cooking in his leisure time. Most of all, he will be remembered as a very generous and caring person who volunteered much of his time to local charities in the area.

In addition to his mother, Don is survived by his three siblings, Randy (Julie) Krueger of Grand Island, NY, Kimberley (Fred) Stotlemyer and Kurtis Krueger, both of Florida; one niece, Erica Krueger; and one nephew, Kyle Krueger; as well as several cousins.

There will be no prior visitation. Gertrude H. Krull, age 91, at ElderWood Health Care at Wedgewood, Amherst, formerly of Wheatfield, was called to her heavenly home on November 7, 2014. Born on April 20, 1923 in the Town of Wheatfield, she was the daughter of the late William and Esther (Walck) Lange.

Gertrude was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Pekin, a former county elections inspector, baked special occasion cakes, enjoyed needlecrafts, playing cards and bingo.

Predeceased by her husband, Elwood Krull in 1987; a son, Gerald Krull in 1957; and brother, Norbert Lange. Survivors include three children, Russell (Cheryl) Krull of Varysburg, Curtis (Barbara) Krull of Amherst and Sherrie (John) Coleman of Rochester; grandchildren, Jason (Courtney) Krull, Sarah (Steven) Sheaks and John Coleman IV; great-grandchildren, Addysen and Natalie Sheaks; sister, Eleanor Moll of Wheatfield; brother, William Lange of Grove City, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Stephen Carl Berds, age 38, of Youngstown, NY, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014.

Stephen was born, the son of Robert L. and Margaret M. Berds, on March 2, 1976 in Lewiston, NY. After attending school in Melbourne, Australia in 1993 as a Rotary Exchange student, he graduated from Lewiston-Porter High School in 1994. He studied at SUNY Geneseo, Monroe Community College where he earned dual Associate degrees in Biotechnology and Chemistry, Harvard University, and was studying Biological Sciences at Cornell University. He most recently attended NCCC to finish his degree for Cornell. Stephen worked for the UNISYS Corporation for five years and as Publicity Director for the Rochester Gay Men's Chorus for three years. In 2007, he served as a summer intern for the U.S. Department of Energy. He always enjoyed his volunteer work with Hospice and Meals on Wheels.

Stephen always had a strong curiosity for all things scientific: chemistry, biology, astronomy, and mathematical; and he also had a deep appreciation for the arts, especially music. He developed a love of travel after Australia, traveling to South America, the Dominican Republic, France, England, Scotland, and even Sweden for the Nobel Prize Awards. Trips in the USA included California, Las Vegas, Florida and even a 13,000 mile road trip across the United States.

Stephen was a member of the Mayflower Society, the Nature Conservancy and the American Chemical Society. He had a deep love for family and friends from past to present. He spent as much time as possible at his beloved Wilcox Homestead family farm in Smyrna, NY, where he enjoyed holidays and special times with family and friends. Stephen was a sweet and gentle soul with a zest for life and an extraordinary way of making others feel special. Most recently, he discovered the benefits and peace of meditation and Shambhala, the Quaker faith and the teachings of the Dalai Lama.

Besides his parents, Stephen is survived by his sister, Patina C. Berds of Rochester; his cousin, John C. (Ingrid Reymers) Munch of Colden, NY; his uncle, Robert W. Munch of Ithaca, NY; his godmother, Mary Messer and several cousins. He was predeceased by his loving maternal grandparents, Jack O. and Ella W. Munch; paternal grandmother, Hilda Berds; aunt, Elizabeth Munch-Galas; and his devoted Burmese cat, Eribast.

A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at the family burial plot in Sherburne, NY. There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service to celebrate Stephen's life will be held at a later date. William F. 'Bill' Whaley died at home in Astor, FL, on Oct 6, 2015. Bill was born in Niagara Falls, NY on Nov. 2, 1933.

He graduated from high school in Lewiston, NY and earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Cincinatti. He was employed by the Carborundum Corporation, Tiger Builders Supply, and then Empire Builders Supply until he retired in 1995.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Jane (Dobrasz) Whaley; his daughters, Andrea Haney and Joyce Ellinor; their husbands, Daniel Haney and David Ellinor; grandchildren, Alan and Carolyn Haney; and a sister, Alice Lederhouse of Oxford, ME. Dolores attended design school and was a talented seamstress, making clothes for her three daughters and then some; she also loved her flower gardens, walking, bird watching, knitting, and beading, but most of all family was Dolores's life and everything revolved around the family .

Dolores was the wife of the late Adam L. Emil ''Duck'' Zielinski, 85, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 16, 2014. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on December 15, 1928, he was the son of the late Karol and Agnes (Bereza) Zielinski and attended local schools. Emil entered the United States Army on December 13, 1950, serving during the Korean War as a member of the 11th Airborne Division, 188th Regiment.

Emil was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and was an iron worker for and a member of the iron workers Local #9. In his younger years he was a semi-pro boxer and always enjoyed watching boxing matches. Emil was also an avid outdoors man who loved to fish and hunt, and enjoyed collecting antiques.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Walasek) Zielinski; children, Donna Zielinski, Paula (Dr. Edward) Ventresca and James (Sandra) Zielinski and grandchildren, Sara, Leah, James Zielinski and Maria, Ross and Alec Ventresca. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Sue lived in Ransomville and Youngstown before retiring to Fort Myers, FL. She worked at the Ransomville Library for many years, and loved to read, bake and sew. Sue was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Sandra Mae Dell, 75, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, September 12, 2014. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harvey, Sr. and Mildred (Mehls) Huff.

Sandra attended local schools in Niagara Falls. On June 9, 1956, she married Robert F. Dell. Robert predeceased her on April 8, 2005 after 48 loving years together. Sandra owned and operated the former Dell's Crown Restaurant with her late husband until their retirement in 1991. She was also employed as a real estate agent at the former Johnson Real Estate Company in Lewiston, NY; and worked part time at the former Mrs. B's Submarine Shop in Niagara Falls, NY. Sandra was an active member and former president of the Niagara Active Hose Women's Auxiliary Club, where she enjoyed competing against other fire departments in Waterball. In her leisure time, she enjoyed arts and crafts such as crocheting and doing yard work around the house.

Mrs. Dell is survived by her three children, Robert F. (Joanie Ferlito) Dell, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY, Keith Edward Dell of New Smyra, FL, Michael J. (Kathleen A. Franklin J. DeCarlo, 80, of Lewiston, NY went home to heaven on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Niagara Hospice in Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Francesco and Mary (Curcio) DeCarlo.

Franklin was raised in Niagara Falls and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He served in the United States Army from March 1954 until his honorable discharge in March 1956. For 42 years, Franklin was employed at National Fuel Gas, working out of the Niagara Falls and Tonawanda offices. He was a member of the Embassy Club and the Y.M.C.A. both in Niagara Falls. Franklin was also an avid fan of the New York Yankees, and in his younger years enjoyed bowling and racquetball.

Franklin is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Marge (Grose) DeCarlo; two children, Frank J. DeCarlo of Niagara Falls, NY and Debra (Carl III) DeCarlo-Anderson of Cocoa, FL; one grandson, Carl Anderson IV; brother, Victor (Barbara) DeCarlo of Niagara Falls, NY; sister, Corinne (Anthony) Musolino of Mission Viejo, CA; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Rita M. (Barto) Del Zoppo, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Elderwood Health Care Facility at Riverwood in Grand Island, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Carmella "Millie" (White) Barto.

Rita was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and attended local schools. On August 4, 1945, she married Adolph J. "Del" Del Zoppo in St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls. He predeceased her on September 14, 2000 after 55 years of marriage. For 37 years, Rita worked at the Como Restaurant until her retirement in 1990. She was also longtime active member of our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls.

Lillian Jakubowski age 92, of Batavia, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, September 23, 2015 at home under the care of Hospice. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on July 15, 1923, to the late, Karol and Anna (Rochwal) Jarzab, also preceded in death by her father, mother-in-law, Albert and Bernice Jakubowski; brothers, Carl (Mary) Jarzab; sisters, Helen (Felix) Walezak and Mary (William) Bernat.

Mrs. Jakubowski graduated from Niagara Falls High School, having taken extra courses in chemistry before going to work for Hooker Chemical Company. She supervised a team analyzing and developing chemicals used to create the A-Bomb. Throughout the years she worked as an administrative assistant for various companies and volunteered at Genesee Memorial Hospital and with voter registration and elections. Along with raising a family she was active in golf, tennis, and bowling, playing all well into her 80's. As her age no longer allowed those activities, Lillian took to playing bridge, visiting area parks and trips abroad and through the US with her husband.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 69 years, Henry Jakubowski of Batavia; loving children, James (Barbara) Jakubowski of N. Tonawanda, John (Christine) Jakubowski of Shrewsbury, MA and Karen (David) Perkins of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, Jennifer (Christopher) Holzbaur, James (Lindsay) Jakubowski, Janelle (Nathan) Cox and Jonathan Perkins; great-grandchildren, Hudson Holzbaur, Brady and Ressa Cox along with many nieces and nephews.

David N. Frye, 32 years old of Lewiston, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014, at New York Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, after a courageous battle with congenital heart disease. He was born in Lewiston on July 29, 1982, the son of Catherine (Stagg) Grannis and the late David A. Frye.

David attended St. Peter's R.C. School and Lewiston Porter High School. He was a graduate of Isaiah 61 Vocational Training where he was employed as a laborer. He was also employed as a landscaper for several companies. David was a member of the Lewiston Assembly of God where he served Christ in many areas of the church, including music. He was a volunteer at Celebrate Recovery Ministries in Western New York and also preached and led worship at the Niagara Gospel Rescue Mission.

Howard L. Moeller, a long time resident of this city, died on Saturday, April 11, 2015 in Mount Saint Mary's Hospital following a brief illness. He was born at the Niagara University Farm, Lewiston, NY, the son of the late Edwin E. And Clara (Steig) Moeller.

Howard served in the US Army with the 4th Armored Division with the 8th Tank. He attended yearly conventions for the Armored

Division across the country since it's inception in 1954. Following his military service, he worked for various companies including Smith Brothers. He retired from Local 463 as an operating engineer in 1981 after 40 years of employment. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and the American Legion Wheatfield Post 1451. An avid garderner, he also loved woodworking and remodeling and was an active hunter in earlier years.

He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth; and siblings, Elmer Moeller, Dorothy Patsch and Ethel Mackenzie. He is survived by three children, Ester (Nicholas) Butera of Springville, NY, Earl (Jan) Moeller of Waterville, OH and Melodi (Byron) Pierce of Niagara Falls, NY; five grandchildren, Christina Butera, Eric Moeller, Jon Pierce, James Moeller and Daniel Moeller; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Anna S. Berhalter passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014 in Briody Health Care Facility. Born in Lockport on May 19, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John and Anastasia Zynchok Serdensky. Anna retired from Harrison Radiator, where she worked as a secretary. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anna was predeceased by her husband, J. William Berhalter, who passed away April 2, 2007.

Anna was the mother of Lynn Dodge and Susan (Michael) Wright, both of Lockport, and Michael (Mary Kay) Berhalter of NC; grandmother of Paul (Angela) Ulrich, Megan Dodge, Steven Dodge, Mollie Dodge, Alexander Berhalter and Lauren Berhalter and great-grandmother of Hannah Ulrich and Kailyn Ulrich. Eleanor Lydia (Norie) Garner, lifelong resident of LaSalle, died Sunday, December 14, 2014, at the age of 95. She had resided at the Greenfield Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lancaster for the last eight years. She was involved in the family business, R. Milleville Dairy, all of her working life. She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls for 70 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Lydia and Rudolph Milleville; her husband of 60 years, T. Howard Garner and two brothers, Robert and Herbert.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Gail (John) Lawler of Cheektowaga and son, the Rev. Dr. Kent Garner (Linda) of Fairport, NY; five grandchildren, Martin (Nancy), Timothy (Patricia) and John (fiancee Katie Palkowski) Lawler, Marc (Meghan) Garner and Kari (Jason) Carey, and four great-grandchildren, Zoe and Matthew Lawler, Brayden Garner and Jacob Carey.

Joan Arlene (Holland) Brown, a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, died on Saturday, December 20, 2014 in Niagara Hospice House. She was 81. She was born in this city on July 31, 1933, the daughter of the late Lester and Dorothy (Koburn) Holland Davis.

She attended local schools and was a graduate of the former LaSalle Jr./Sr. High School on Buffalo Avenue. As a young woman she worked for American Secretarial Services. She then went on to earn her LPN and worked for St. Mary's Hospital when it was on 6th Street. She retired from Staff Builders, Niagara Falls traveling to the local nursing homes. She also worked for Bernie Stack.

Mrs. Brown loved this special time of year, Christmas. She looked forward to celebrations with family and friends, decorating the house and the peacefulness of the season. When time permitted with her busy schedule, she enjoyed crafting and painting. She was a longtime member of the former Epiphany Episcopal Church.

Eleanor Johnson Ferington born November 4th, 1928 in Wilson, New York to Adorno and Myrtle Johnson, passed gracefully from us on Thursday, January 29th, 2015 with her daughter Ruth at her side in her home in Lynchburg, Virginia. Her feet touched the earth for 86 years, 2 months, and 25 days. Preceding her in passing were her brother, Adorno Albertus Johnson Jr.; her eldest son, Wesley Jr., and her husband, Wesley Sr., with whom she shared nearly sixty years.

She is survived and remembered by her children, David (Nancy) and Ruth (Todd) Wymer; her brother and sister, Ora and Jean; 6 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren, the youngest of whom shares her namesake.

A graduate of the University of Buffalo, Eleanor taught Math for the Williamsville, NY School District, and enjoyed numerous pursuits that enriched herself, as well as others, spending her free time reading, traveling, and researching the numerous branches of her family tree.

Private services will be held this week in Lynchburg, Virginia, where she will be placed to rest next to her devoted husband and loving son. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Humane Society in her name.

Kathy was born in Niagara Falls, NY on March 26, 1945 and was a lifelong resident of Sanborn, NY. She attended Niagara Wheatfield High School and was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Sanborn, NY. Where she married Duane Goss on February 12, 1966. Together they raised their family in Sanborn and enjoyed their retirement by wintering in Fruitland Park, FL. Kathy worked at Cherry Bank Farms and H.A. Treichler & Sons Greenhouses, both in Sanborn for several years. Kathy was also an active member of the Sanborn Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary where she volunteered for 38-years and served as President, Vice President, Treasure, Secretary and Food Chairman. Kathy also organized the first annual "Light Up Sanborn" holiday event. She loved cooking, canning gardening and crafts and adored her entire family, especially her grandchildren.

She was the daughter of the late Marvin and Ruth (Belling) Wendt. Kathy is survived by her husband, Duane N. Marleen E.(Bower) Krueger, 76, of Lewiston, NY, died Friday, July 17, 2015, in Northgate Manor, N. Tonawanda after a short illness. Marlene was born in Rutland, VT on November 18, 1938 to the late Walter and Dorothy (King) Logan.

She received an Associates degree from NCCC and worked as a Paralegal for the law firm of Myers and Columbo in Buffalo for many years. On February 17, 1983, she was married to Robert E. Krueger, owner of Bob Krueger Chevrolet Auto Dealership and remained in Lewiston. Robert passed away on April 2, 2010. She was very active in the community. Marlene was a charter member of the Niagara County Legal Secretary's Assoc. since 1966, a member of the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, and volunteered at ARTPART and Niagara Hospice. She was also an Inspector for the Niagara County Board of Elections for many years. She also enjoyed traveling with her late husband Bob for many years. Marlene was a active member of the United Baptist Christian Church in Lewiston.

Marlene is survived by Bob's children, Douglas Krueger, Brenda Krueger, Marcia (Jeffrey) Sidebottom, all of Lexington, KY., and Sandra (Michael) Rogers of Lockport; a step grandchild, Elayne Sidebottom. She was predeceased by a son, Timothy Logan Bower.

Evelyn retired from Harrisons in 1974 she worked the Schuman Sieck Family Farm which was in the family since 1826 also at Hibbards Restaurant and Chateau Gay Winery. Evelyn was a lifelong member of Concordia Lutheran Church the Wilson Senior Widows Club she enjoyed the casino gardening traveling and was an avid Buffalo Bills Fan. She loved spending time with family and friends.

Daughter of the late Frederic Crossman Barnum and Shirley Woodside Barnum. Sister of Sue (Walter) Holmes of Ransomville and Molly (Greg) Cigal of Parkersburg, WV. She is survived by her nephew, Kurt (Gina) Holmes and their children, Alexandria and Frederick and niece, Kelli (Dan) Putney and their children, Katie and Jack.

Judith graduated from Paul Smith's College in 1969 with an Associate degree in Liberal Arts. She attended the State University College at Brockport and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education (K-6) in 1971. She also did 30 hours of post graduate work at Brockport. She taught at Pratt Elementary School in Barker for 27 years and retired in August 1999.

Judy was a member of the Eastern Niagara County Retired Teachers Association and a lifetime member of the New York State Retired Teachers. Judy was an active member of the Somerset Historical Society and a lifetime member of the Wilson Historical Society.

Judy enjoyed bowling, counted cross stitch, knitting and writing letters to her friends and relatives. She also loved going out for lunch with her teacher friends. She took many trips together with her mother Shirley. They traveled to Colonial Williamsburg, the Canadian Rockies, Alaska, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, England, Ireland and Scotland. They also took many trips to Parkersburg, WV to visit her sister Molly and her husband Greg.

Robert Gustave Lindke, age 85, of Gasport, entered into rest on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Absolut of Gasport. Born June 4, 1930 in Royalton, NY, Robert was the son of the late Gustave and Alma (Koepsel) Lindke and his step-mother, the late Doris Lindke-Bush.

Robert was a 1949 graduate of Akron High School. He was a former co-owner of E & R Machine in Gasport, NY and had also worked at Friend Manufacturing Company in Gasport. He married Shirley Gaskill August 7, 1954, at Covenant United Church of Christ in Gasport where he was an active member.

Surviving Robert is his wife, Shirley (Gaskill) Lindke and children, Barbara Lindke of Bartlett, TN and Douglas (Jacque) Lindke of Webster, NY. Dear grandfather of Alexandra Lindke and Matthew Lindke. Robert is also survived by a sister, Mildred Knights and predeceased by siblings, Earl and Patricia Wagner and Jeanette and Vincent Biasell. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive Robert.

Carl S. Leichtnam, of Southern Pines, NC, beloved husband of 66 years to Bernice H. Leichtnam (nee Leising), went home to be with the Lord on October 29, 2015.

He was the dear father of Mark (Barbara), Sally (Peter) Pawlik, John (Marqueena), Judy (Benjie) Giazzon, Paul, Mary (Steven) Barone, and Steven; also 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother of the late John, Madeline and Helen (Harry) Metz; brother-in-law of Joan (Robert) Walker, Norma (late Roland) Pfohl, Sylvia (late Lloyd) Hahn, Robert (Barbara) Leising and the late James (Mary and Jean), Mildred, Odelia (James) Allen, Zeta (Joseph) Allen, Rita (Leo) Laubacker, Irma (V. Lee) Gray, Ruth (Daniel) Huber, Vincent (Margaret) Leising, Albert (Joan) Leising, and Norman (Ann) Leising; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Carl was a WWII veteran in the Marine 2nd Division. He fought in Saipan and in battles in the South Pacific.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist RC Church on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at 10 a.m. Family and friends are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Duane "Sy" Seiler, age 72, of Gasport, entered into rest at his home on Saturday, November 7, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Born July 22, 1943 in Lockport he is the son of Fredrick and Erma (Baldwin) Seiler.

Sy is a 1963 graduate of Royalton Hartland High School. He married Patricia Lee March 29, 1975 in Lockport. Sy worked as a shipping foreman for Niagara Specialty Metals in Akron, NY retiring in 2005. Previously he had worked for Simonds Steel for 20 years.

As an avid hunter and member of the Hartland Conservation Club, Sy had gone on many hunting trips including Africa and Canada. Sy also enjoyed gardening. He had lived in the Royalton area all of his life

Surviving is his wife, Patricia Seiler and children, Duane (Erica Zipp) Seiler of Gasport, Tammy (Greg) Lennon of Lockport, and Angela (Jim) Spark of Gasport; brother of Sharon Mack of Rochester. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frederick, Kenneth, Charles, Richard, David and Michael and a sister, Mary LaSpada; seven grandchildren also survive Sy; Luke and Evangeline Seiler, Cora and Meghan Lennon, Casey and Caleb Spark and Mark Zipp. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Ella L. Price, 97, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014, at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. Born in Niagara Falls on November 30, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Helen (Pietkiewicz) Narkiewicz. Ella was the wife of the late Arthur "Lloyd" Price, whom she married June 1940. She was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and was a member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Rosalie) Price of Tuscan, AZ, James Price of Connecticut, Faye (Howard) Willard of Niagara Falls, NY, Michelle (Gene) Watrous and Kathleen(James) Hall, both of the Town of Niagara, NY; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Walter, Steve, John, Matt, Henry and Richard Narkiewicz; also one sister, Dorothy Calladine.

Ruth E. (nee Edwards) Crawley, 91, passed from this life on Thursday, October 9, 2014 in Sheridan Manor Nursing Home in Tonawanda, NY. Born on September 23, 1923 in Milwaukee, WI, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Rose (Raynor) Edwards.

Mrs. Crawley came to Niagara Falls as a small child. Ruth attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On January 7, 1942, she married Emmett T. Crawley. He predeceased her on March 7, 2005, following 63 years of marriage.

Mrs. Crawley is survived by two children, Diana (late Loren) Smith of Wheatfield, NY and Kevin (Peggy) Crawley of Kenmore, NY; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Ruth is also survived by one sister, Beatrice (late Ronald) Sutherland of Niagara Falls, Ontario; two brothers, Robert Edwards of Ransomville, NY and Albert (Audrey) Edwards of Salamanca, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one daughter, Cynthia Crawley and two sisters, Shirley and Dolores.

Henry Alfred Keyes, age 86, of Gasport, entered into rest on Friday, October 16, 2015, at Absolut Care in Gasport. Born January 2, 1929 in Lockport, Henry was the son of the late Robert James and Jean Victoria (Rimmer) Keyes.

Henry graduated from Wilson Central schools and served in the US Navy from October 25, 1948 until March 10, 1950, serving on the ships USS Roanoke and the USS Macon. He married Florence Hobbs January 9, 1954. Mrs. Keyes died June 24, 2010. Henry worked at Harrison Radiator in Lockport as a tool setter for 32 years. He enjoyed going to garage sales, repairing clocks and watches and had a love for music. He was a member of the United Heritage Fiddlers Association.

Surviving are his children, Alfred D. (Patricia A. Fitzgerald) Keyes, Dale (the late Peggy Jo) Keyes, Darren Keyes, David (Amy Hanssen-Keyes) Keyes and was predeceased by a son, Francis James. Also surviving Henry are his grandchildren, Jackie, Nikki and Rebekah Keyes, Sarah (Eric) Yaeger, Dakoda, Elizabeth, Jakob Madeline and Clayton Keyes and great- grandchildren, Chloe Marie and Emma Jo Whitman. He was the brother of Patricia Alt and the late Robert and Thomas Keyes.

Lynn Fitzgerald entered into rest October 15, 2015. Born February 16, 1943 in Lockport, he was the son of Charles and Lina(Fredricks) Fitzgerald.

Lynn graduated from DeSales High School in 1961, worked for the Niagara County Golf Course and Bewley Blacktop & Paving and enjoyed bowling, golf, playing cards and baseball. He was "a friend to all who know him" and will be deeply missed.

Beloved father of Charles (Jodie) Fitzgerald of Wisconsin, Thomas Fitzgerald of Maine and Matthew Holmes of Cherished grandfather of Carter and Isabella. Dear Brother of Sheila (Charlie Thrall) Tracy, Cheryl(Anthony) Ippolito and Gerald "Jerry" (Helen) Fitzgerald. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Best friend of Charlie Thrall.

Robert W. Bishop, 86, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2015. Robert was born on October 26, 1928 in Lockport, NY to the late William J. and Catharine (Muckenstrum) Bishop.

Bob served in the United States Navy on the USS Richard E. Kraus. He earned his undergraduate degree from GMI, Master's degree from MIT, and retired as a chief engineer for Harrison Radiator Division GMC in 1989.

Bob was active in the Salvation Army, Knight of Columbus, the GMI fraternity Gamma Mu Tau, and St. Vincent DePaul. He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Marna Bishop; children, Catherine (Stephen) Lawton, Beverly (Ronald) Adams, Timothy (Cindy) Bishop, Teresa Wagner, Jeffrey (Janey) Cantwell and Lori (Kenny) Frye; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one sister, Eileen (James) Haskell. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Marie (May) Bishop; and one grandchild, Tyler Adams.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 4100 East 56th Street. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Flanner and Buchanan - Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to St. Vincent DePaul.
