David O. Barron of Newfane, husband of the late Donna Boyer Barron entered into rest on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 in the Niagara Hospice House. David was born in Lockport, NY on October 4, 1943. Son of the late Thomas and Ruth Lampe Barron. David served in the United States Air force form 1962-1964. He worked at Harrison Radiator in Lockport, NY. David loved his family, golfing and carpentry.

Father of Darlene Sue Manhardt of Newfane, NY, Tina (Shawn) Doyle of Newfane, NY, Hope (Dennis) Dalrymple of Appleton, NY and Deborah Barron of Newfane, NY. Brother of Brenda (Philip) O'Rourke of Medina, OH. Brother-in-law of Fred (Juanita) Boyer Burt, NY. Also survived by eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Anastasia C. "Nancy" (nee Fronczak) Holtz, age 97, of North Tonawanda, peacefully on September 8, 2014, while surrounded by her family. Nancy was an elementary school teacher at St. John the Baptist and St. Francis of Assisi from 1960-1983. She loved her teaching career and was a mentor to many students. She and her husband, Charles, were the proprietors of Holtz Deli in the City of Tonawanda from 1962-1969. She enjoyed quilting and reading and traveling. She had an avid interest in social and political issues. She was beloved and cherished by her family and many friends and will be greatly missed.

She was the wife of the late Charles F. Holtz, Sr. Beloved mother of Charles (Patricia) Holtz, Jr., Susan (Gary) Rice, John Holtz and Betsy (George) Koch. Cherished grandmother of Kristen Holtz-Twombly, C. Adam Holtz, Jeffrey Rice, Rick Rice, Lisa Gingras, Andrea Gregwire, Joanna Alexander, Rebecca Clinton, Matthew Holtz, Sara Holtz, David Koch, Jenna Koch and Jill Everett, 34 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law of Corrine (Larry) Tynan and Pat (Fred) Holtz.

Marian J. "Jack" Wodo, Jr., 78, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014. Born on July 30, 1936 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Marian J. and Thelma M. (Morris) Wodo, Sr. and attended local schools. Jack was a welder at LaFarge and was a member of IUOE Local #463, Active Hose#1 and the VFW Post#8734. He was an avid motorsports fan and hunter.

He is survived by his sister, Jean (late Benjamin) Landers, Sr. of Niagara Falls, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Diane (Gorban) Wodo; his son Marian J. "Jack" Wodo III; his brother, Alfred "Fred" (Janet) Wodo; and his dog, Brownie.

Dorothy M. Farrell, age 100, of Lewiston, died on Friday, September 5, 2014 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, after a lengthy illness. Dorothy was born on March 6, 1914 in Phelan, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of the late Alexander and Harriet (Michimen) Eastman. She came to the United States with her family in 1927 and she graduated from Academy High School in Clarence, NY in 1932. She married Chester J. Farrell in 1935 and lived in Niagara Falls until they moved to Lewiston in 1941.

A homemaker, Dorothy's family meant the world to her as much as her beloved First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston. She was one of the eldest members after 73 years of membership. She was very active in her younger years with dinners, teaching Sunday school and the Eastern Star. Her greatest joy was hosting many dinners and creating great memories for her family.

Her husband, Chester, predeceased her on May 3, 1981. She is survived by her sons, Jerald (late Susann) Farrell of Lewiston and Jack B. (Louise) Farrell of Hudson, FL; a granddaughter, Jody (Kevin) Krueger of Lewiston; a grandson, Jack Farrell, Jr. of Florida; and her great-grandchildren, Konor and Dylan Krueger, Kaitlyn and Davon Farrell. She was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 13th at 11:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, 505 Cayuga St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Elizabeth Morgan officiating. There will be no prior visitation. Flowers are gratefully declined. For those who wish, contributions in her memory may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston. Harry Douglas Short, age 70, entered into rest on Monday, September, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 6, 1943 in Niagara Falls, NY, Harry is the son of the late Lisle and Olive (Wentz) Short. He married Linda Kay (Henry) Short on October 17, 1964 in Indiana, PA. His wife, Linda, died on May 11, 2013.

Harry was a 1961 graduate of RoyHart High School and continued his education through General Motors where he worked at Harrison Radiator GM Division in Lockport as a machine repairman, retiring August 1, 1995. He was a member of the Cornell Cooperative Extension, John Deere Two Cylinder Club and the Hartland United Methodist Church. He enjoyed farming, hunting, John Deere tractors, his family and God. He had lived in Cambria for the past 37 years, previously of Gasport.

Harry is survived by his children, Laura (Tom) Hubbard of Middleport, LeeAnn (Terry) Mandaville of Gasport and Brian (Kristi) Short of Sanborn; devoted grandfather to Jessica, Joshua, Shelby, Jordan and Paige; and brother of Lloyd Short of Sanborn and Ruth (Robert) Edwards of Blairsville, PA. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Rita Diana Doty of Ocala, FL, went to rest with the Lord on Friday, September 5, 2014. Rita was born in Lockport, NY on June 21, 1938 to the late Catherine R. (Rundio) and Benjamin P. Trudnowski. She was the widow of Frederick W. Doty, her husband of 30 years, whose love she greatly missed since his passing in April 2013.

Loving survivors include her brother, Benjamin Trudnowski of Newfane, NY; her son, James Bisher, Jr. (Joanna); her daughter, Diana Gerland (David); her grandsons, Jonathan Bisher and Jacob Bisher; her great-granddaughter, Chloe Bisher and her cousins, Martha Chilcott, Mary Ann Cutter (Donald) and Joseph Rundio (Beverly); and her grand puppies, Daisy and Moxie.

Rita was an Avon Representative for many years. She achieved President's Level - an exclusive club for Avon's top sellers. Rita was employed by Lockport City School District, serving school children at Washington Hunt School. She taught crocheting and knitting through the New York State Federation of Home Bureaus, Inc., and was an accomplished quilter and needle-worker. After moving to Florida she participated in the Big Sun Senior Games and won several medals. Her hobbies included quilting, crafts, water aerobics and shuffleboard. Her passion was playing cards and board games, building puzzles, watching television game shows, going on her casino trips to play the penny and nickel slots, and winning at bingo. She handmade Christmas ornaments every year to give to family and friends that will be greatly missed. She loved living at Oak Run and neighbors could see her driving her golf cart to go to the pool and club house.

Rita will be dearly missed. The family will receive friends at TAYLOR & REYNOLDS FUNERAL HOME, corner of Transit and Niagara Streets, on Saturday, September 13, 2014, from 8:30-9:30 AM, followed by prayers at 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM at St. John the Baptist Church. Interment at St. Patrick's Cemetery. Lawrence "Laurie" Wardell, age 92, of North Tonawanda, Sunday, March 15th, 2015 at Northgate Hospice Facility. He was son of the George Barton and Ruth (Thayer) Wardell.

Founder and owner of Wardell Boat Yard, Mr. Wardell was an avid boater who spent many of his years on the Niagara River and in the 1000 Islands. As a member of the US Navy, he served overseas in the Philippines as a floating dry dock crane operator. He was a life member of the BPO 860 Elks Lodge and was exalted ruler in 1962.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dolores Camp Wardell; two children, Dennis Wardell and Susan (Douglas)Berry. Loving grandfather of Lauren Berry of California and Lindsay Berry of Colorado.

David M. Cicco, age 61, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at home. Born in Niagara Falls on April 13, 1953, he was the son of the late Angelo F. and Rose A. (Zecco) Cicco.

David was a production worker at Precious Plate, a member of the Italian Sons & Daughters, and he enjoyed listening to music.

He is survived by his children, Carrie (Erik) Smedley, of McKinney, TX, Camryn, David M., Nicholas A. Cicco and Anthony Mittiga, all of Niagara Falls, NY; grandchildren, Leah and Ian Smedley; sister Patricia L. (Frank) Piwowarczyk of Town of Niagara, NY, and brother, Thomas N. (Brenda) Cicco, of Niagara Falls, NY. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Kerry L. Pardee, 63, of Sanborn, NY, died at his residence on Sunday, April 26, 2015. Born in the Town of Wheatfield on December 25, 1951 to the late Kenneth and W. Marie (Huff) Pardee.

Kerry graduated from Lewiston-Porter High School in 1969 and was employed as a welder at Harrison Radiator/Delphi in Lockport, NY for 30 years.

An avid outdoorsman, he was a member of the LaSalle Sportsman Club and the NRA. In addition, he was a avid NASCAR fan, gardener, bowler on the UAW Retirement League and an active member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and School, Bergholtz, where he served as the President of the Congregation. Mostly, Kerry enjoyed spending time with this family.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Demmin) Pardee; three children, Carla (Scott) Adams of Ava, MO, Jennifer (Vincent) Carr and Benjamin Pardee, both of Waterloo, NY; three stepchildren, Stephen Case, Philip (Amanda) Case and Robert Case; two brothers, Joseph (Janet) Pardee, Jack (Marilyn) Pardee, both of Ransomville; a sister, Janet Mitchell of Youngstown; 14 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Glenn A. "Bud" Rhoades passed away April 27, 2015 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst. Born in Lockport on July 14, 1928 he was the son of Glenn R. and Clara M. (Krull) Rhoades. Bud worked for Try It Distribution for 42 years where he was beer salesman, retiring in September 1989. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean (Olear) Rhoades on October 25, 2006.

Thomas George Hartwig, 61, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life, unexpectedly, on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at his residence. Born on July 24, 1953 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Eileen (Schul) Hartwig of Niagara Falls, NY and the late George Hartwig.

Mr. Hartwig was raised in Niagara Falls, NY and spent a brief time living in Colorado before moving back to Niagara Falls. Tom, as he was known to family and friends, attended local schools. He graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School as well as Paul Smith College. For many years, Mr. Hartwig was employed as an electrician for Bison Electrical in Amherst, NY. Tom enjoyed attending air shows and concerts at Art Park as well as fishing, hunting and collecting antique decoys. He was a member of the 3F Club in Lewiston, NY.

Mr. Hartwig is survived by two children, Vanessa (John) Lhommedieu of Kent, NY and Justin Thomas Hartwig of Lyndonville, NY; one sister, Peggy Taylor of Lockport, NY; one uncle; three aunts and several cousins. Tom is also survived by his former spouse, Pamela (Collins) Hartwig of Lyndonville, NY.

Joan M. Dougherty, age 82, affectionately known as the "Queen of Tuscarora St." in Lewiston, died Friday, August 22, 2014, at her daughter's home in Ft. Walton Beach, FL, while under the loving care of her family and Covenant Hospice of Florida.

Joan was born October 13, 1931 in Lewiston, the daughter of the late Victor J. and Violet C. (Armstrong) VandenBosch and was a lifelong resident. She was a 1949 graduate of Stella Niagara and was very active in the Stella Niagara Alumnae for many years. On June 2, 1951, she married Joel F. Dougherty who predeceased her in 2004. She was a homemaker and operated a dog grooming business from her home for 15 years. After retiring in 1980, Joan and Joel managed a motel in Indialantic, FL. She was active in the Democratic Party and had served as an election inspector for 60 years in the Town of Lewiston. Joan was also a charter member of the Women of the Moose Lodge in Lewiston and had attended St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston.

She is survived by her children, Maureen (Daniel) McCabe of Virginia Beach, VA, Patricia Dougherty (Jeff Francis) of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, and Joel (Shauna) Dougherty of Panama City, FL; three brothers, Allen V. (late Ruth) VandenBosch of Lewiston, Lawrence (Susan) VandenBosch of Wilson, and Paul (Joan) VandenBosch of Ransomville; two sisters, Dorothy (late Thomas) Napier and Janine (late Ernest) Murdoch, both of Lewiston; four granddaughters, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Harold (Pete) Krull, 91, of Davenport, FL, formerly of Wheatfield, NY, died in hospice care of congestive heart failure on Tuesday, July 28th. A World War II veteran, he was awarded the Bronze Star as well as numerous other commendations. He ran the family business, Krull's Inn, on Niagara Falls Boulevard for several years and worked for Niagara Wheatfield school district until his retirement. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Betty Krull (nee Rosebrock), in April of 2014.

He is survived by two daughters, Sue (Pat) Langer of Davenport, FL; Sally Zito, of Lewiston, NY; a son, Peter Krull (Melissa Booth) of Asheville, NC; and a step-son, William (Mary) Witkopf of South Pasadena, FL. In addition, he is survived by seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Philip E. Bartz of Newfane, husband of Connie Mietz Bartz entered into rest on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 peacefully at home. Philip was born in Lockport, NY on May 10, 1942. Son of the late Edward and Thelma Martin Bartz.
Philip was the Deputy Highway Superintendent for the Town of Wilson for many years. He was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church and an exempt member of the South Wilson Fire Co. after 25 years. He loved camping, fishing, farming, bowling and spending time with his grandchildren.
Father of Karen Bartz of Newfane, NY and Kimberly (David) Haak of Lockport, NY. Grandfather of Kaitlynn and Matthew Haak. Brother in law of Carol (Larry) Stroh of Akron, NY. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Anna M. (Pietrangeli) Zito, 82, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2014 in Kenmore Mercy Hospital in Tonawanda, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Cristoforo and Nicoletta (DeLuca) Pietrangeli. On October 27, 1951 Anna married Ralph J. Zito at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY.

Mrs. Zito attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School where she majored in home economics. She worked in clerical positions at various local businesses including McCrory's Department Store, Airco Speer and Boat “N” Bus Tours. She was also an Avon representative for many years and made many friends during that time. In her later years, she enjoyed going to the casino. Ann was a past member of the Altar and Rosary Society at the former St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Niagara Falls, NY. Most of all Anna will be remembered for her "listening ear". She befriended everyone she met and was always ready to listen with a compassionate heart.

Mrs. Zito donated her body to the University at Buffalo's Anatomical Gift Program for medical research. Ida C. Pino, 90, of Coconut Creek, FL, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, died Friday, December 19th, 2014 in the Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL while visiting her daughter. Born September 1, 1924 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Domenica (Eugeni) Elia and the wife of the deceased S. Carmen Pino.

Mrs. Pino attended and graduated from Niagara Falls High School and resided in Niagara Falls until 1984 and then she and Carmen relocated to Coconut Creek, FL to commence their retirement.

Ida was one of ten children and she had seven of her own children. Ida was a member of the St. Vincent Catholic Church in Margate, Florida. Ida wore many hats over the years and to name a few, PTA mom while her children were school age, active member of the choir and Women's Club at the former St. Luke's Catholic Church, she was a lifelong member of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America including both the Volare Lodge and Power City Lodge, a member of the Italian American Club in Florida where she held positions such as membership chairman, assistant treasurer but her favorite role for almost 25 years was the head of the Scholarship Committee. Ida was also on the go with her large family spending summers with her sister Irene and traveling to her children's homes often to participate in many of the family get-togethers. Ida worked as Head Teller and retired from M&T Bank in Niagara Falls, NY just prior to relocating to Florida. Ida is survived by seven children, Linda M. (Michael) Misterkiewicz of Berville, PA, Dominic C. (Sharon) Pino of Southwest Ranches, FL, Albert R. (Donna) Pino of Barrington, IL, Christine A. (Frank) Kotarba of San Diego, CA, Janet M. Guido A. Filicetti, 94, of Lewiston, NY passed away at home on Saturday, February 7, 2015 while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Frank and Gilda (Battafarano) Filicetti.

Guido attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. Following his discharge from the military, he continued his education, receiving his Bachelor's in Education and History from Niagara University, and Master's Degree from the University of Buffalo.

On July 16, 1947, he married Grace C. (Riggi) Filicetti at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY and later moved to Lewiston, NY in the 1970's where he currently resided. Guido had a lengthy career as a history teacher beginning at Depew High School, and spent 32 years with the Niagara Falls Board of Education at the former LaSalle Senior High School, retiring in 1986. Guido was a longtime member of St. Bernard's Church in Youngstown, NY where he also served as a lector and Eucharistic minister, and member of the Niagara Rapids Club.

Guido was an outstanding athlete. He excelled in football and basketball for Niagara Falls High School, and was named first-team Frontier All-Star. He went on to play football at Niagara University, and was also named to the 1946 All-Catholic All Star team. He played football for the U.S. Army Air Force and was termed "Swivel-hipped" by the British Press. Guido also qualified for the Army Olympics held in Nuremburg, Germany. He later coached football and track at Depew High School, varsity football, track and wrestling at LaSalle Senior High School and cross country at Niagara University. In addition, Guido served as a referee for local high school and little league football. In recognition of all his athletic accomplishments, Guido was inducted into the Niagara Falls School District Hall of Fame, Niagara University Hall of Fame and the Niagara Falls Old Timers Sports Hall of Fame.

In addition to his wife of 67 years, Guido is survived by five children; Frank Filicetti of Lewiston, NY, Sally Jo Filicetti of Lake George, NY, Marianne (Brian) Rickert of Los Angeles, CA, Diane (Richard) Campbell of Miami, FL and Guido "Joe" (Florencia) Filicetti of New York, NY; seven grandchildren, Dani Grace, Katie, Brian Jr., Nicholas, Drake, Teresa and Marcos; two great-grandchildren, one sister Rose (late Fred) Layo of Florida and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Louis (Marie of Niagara Falls, NY) Filicetti, Edward (late Rose) Filicetti and one sister Mary (late Peter) D'Ambrosio.

William P. Strassel passed away Saturday February 21, 2015 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born in Lockport, New York on July 12, 1929, he was the son of the late William P. Jr. and Alice M. (nee Curtis) Strassel.

William attended Lockport Senior High School, served in the United States Army from 1948 until 1952, and continued his education graduating from SUNY Canton. William worked at Harrison Radiator, Division of General Motors for 40 years, retiring in 1990 as an HVAC Engineer. He was a member of the American Legion B. Leo Dolan Post 410, Elks Club, Niagara County Historical Society, Olcott and Wilson Yacht Clubs, and a past member of the Tuscarora Club. He enjoyed playing baseball, softball, racquetball, boating, and teaching his grandchildren to fish.

William appreciated spending time and socializing with his many dedicated friends. He and his loving wife Sharon enjoyed a fulfilling retirement spending eighteen years in Bradenton, Florida, before returning to Lockport.

William is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon (nee Stranges) Strassel of Lockport; father of Mark (Mary) Strassel of Doylestown, PA., and Gregg (Terri) Strassel of Lockport; grandfather of Danielle, Maxwell and Matthew Strassel; brother in-law of Gary (Susan) Stranges and Wayne (Suzanne) Secord. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. William is predeceased by his brothers, Donald Strassel and James E. (Susan) Strassel.

Mary Colomba "Collie" Castiglione of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015 after a brief illness. She had been under Hospice care at Odd Fellow and Rebekah Health Care Center.

Collie was born to Guiseppe and Agata Eleuteri on July 31, 1923 in the town of Cesacastina in Abruzzi, Italy, and passed through Ellis Island to settle in Niagara Falls as an infant. She graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1941 and worked as a secretary in the office of Colonial Village Elementary School for many years.

Collie crocheted over 200 personalized baby blankets that were sent across the country as gifts for the newborns of families and friends. These blankets are cherished by all who were fortunate enough to receive them

and are a lasting symbol of

the love she had for children. Throughout the years she traveled to Italy and was able to reconnect with her wonderful extended family there. These trips were the highlights of her life. Her favorite saying was "Famiglia e tutto".

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Biagio Castiglione, daughters Nancy (Gary) Kline of New Tripoli PA, Carol (Philip) Kratz of Lockport, NY, and sons Gary (Debi) Castiglione of Loxahatchee, FL, and Robert (Carol) Castiglione of Walland, TN. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy: Christina, Andrea, Benjamin, Nathan, Danny, Jesse, Lisa and Julie; as well as her six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Madeline Carver and Lydia (James) Garvey, both of Niagara Falls, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Eleuteri, and a sister, Clara (Angelo) Nicoletti.

Marcia (nee Filicetti) Urbaniak, age 65, of Niagara Falls, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at her residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, on June 14, 1950, she was the daughter of Marie (nee Vilardo) and the late Louis Filicetti.

Marcia grew up in the LaSalle section of Niagara Falls and attended Prince of Peace Grade School, Madonna High School, Niagara County Community College, Fredonia State College (where she earned her Bachelor's in Education), and did graduate work at Niagara University. She began her teaching career in the 1970's at St. Joseph's School in Niagara Falls and then was employed by the Niagara Falls Board of Education. She taught Adult Education, GED, Opportunities Unlimited, and English as a Second Language.

Marcia enjoyed reading, sewing, cross stitching, and tending to her flower garden. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her five grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen J. Urbaniak; her children, David (Amanda) Urbaniak of Grand Island and Teresa (Cris) Chapman of Clarence Center; five grandchildren, Dean, Madelyn and Mason Urbaniak, and Olivia and Joseph Chapman; her mother, Marie Filicetti; and three sisters, Gloria (Chris) Stanz of North Tonawanda, Gilda Bonnevie of Grand Island and Patricia (Sam) Giambattista of Niagara Falls, NY. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Richard Sadlocha of Middleport passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Medina Memorial Healthcare System. Mr. Sadlocha was born in Buffalo, NY on September 26, 1930, son of the late Anthony and Michalina (Redlick) Sadlocha.

Mr. Sadlocha moved to Barker as a young man and moved to Middleport several years later. He served in the Marine Corp from l952-l954 and served in Korea. He was employed at Simonds Saw & Steel in Lockport and retired after several years of service. He and his wife Clara (Klino) Sadlocha were married July 13, 1957.

He was a life member of the Sacred Heart Club of Medina, member of American Legion Butts-Clark Post # 204, and the Jr. Wilson Sportsman Club, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, Polish music, doing crossword puzzles and going to the casino with his wife.

He is survived by his wife Clara L. Sadlocha, brother of the late Casmir Sadlocha, Marion Sadlocha, Florion Sadlocha, Verna Popovich, Stella Godzisz and Eleanor Watts. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Thaddeus T. Niewisiewicz, 90 years old passed away on January 12, 2015 at Schoellkopf Health Care Center. He was born in Niagara Falls on January 29, 1924 the son of the late Anthony and MaryAnn (Wojtowicz) Niewisiewicz.

Teddy attended Holy Trinity Parochial School and was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School. On February 10, 1943 he entered the United States Army and served with the 61st Air Service Squadron participating in the New Guinea Campaign, Southern Philippine Campaign, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, Okinawa Campaign and the Bismarck Archipelago Campaign. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on February 9, 1946 and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theater Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 5 bronze stars and the Good Conduct Medal.

Teddy worked as a carpenter for Carpenters Local 289 at E. I. DuPont deNeMours for 30 years as their construction safety manager. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans; a charter and life member of the American Legion Portage Post #1465 where he was their commander in 1953 and 1954 and held almost every office at one time. He was a life member of the Echo Society, Woodmen of the World, Holy Trinity Holy Name and the carpenters union. He was also a member of St. Stephen's Lodge, Polish National Alliance Lodge 1856 and the Polish Roman Catholic Union of American-Holy Trinity Lodge.

Teddy is survived by his sister, Rose Golanka of Niagara Falls and caregivers, Barbara and Thomas Scozzafava, Elizabeth "Betty" Savino and James Navis. He was predeceased by his brothers, Stephen Navis and John Niewisiewicz and his sisters, Frances Thomas and Genevieve Niewisiewicz and Julia Wackett.

Ed attended local schools and graduated from Trott Vocational High School's three-year chemistry program. He served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II, stationed in California, Arizona and India. While in India he worked on the C46 airplanes, rebuilding the radio systems. He retired from Olin Corp after 24 years as a chemical analyst. Ed was an active charter member of Tri-Community Ambulance Service, Inc., member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, and served as secretary of the building committee for the present church. He played basketball in high school and later played first base in the church softball league. Ed enjoyed vegetable gardening, traveling and loved his family, especially the little ones.

Peter P. Christoff, age 79, of Wheatfield, passed away January 27, 2016.

Mr. Christoff was born July 20, 1936, in Niagara Falls, NY, son of the late Pencho and Mary Christoff.

He graduated from Trott Vocational School and served in the United States Navy. Mr. Christoff retired from Noco in 1996 after many years of service. He was a 56 year member of Rescue #5 Fire Company, a member of the American Legion Wheatfield Post #1451, a longtime member of Crows Nest Horseshoe Club and a member several local bowling leagues.

Edmund A. Page of Lewiston, NY passed away December 24, 2014 at Our Lady of Peace

Rehabilitation Center in Lewiston at the age of 89. He was born October 29, 1925 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Charles and Isabelle Page.

Ed attended Niagara Falls schools. During World War II in 1943, at the age of seventeen, he enlisted in the Navy. He served in the South Pacific for 3 years and was awarded the Victory, American Campaign, Good Conduct and the Asiatic-Pacific Medals.

Ed was the beloved husband of Dorothy (Malkonian) Page whom he married on November 3, 1951 at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Niagara Falls. They enjoyed square dancing for many years as well as vacationing with their loving family and special friends. Dorothy passed away on December 26, 1992. Ed was a salesman at the former Levy Bros. Furniture Co. for 30 years retiring at age 55. He began volunteering in 1984 in the Physical Therapy Department at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital. After a few years he became employed as a Physical Therapy Technician and continued his volunteer work as well. During the last several years Ed became a regular at the front desk in the main lobby as the greeter with the friendly smile. He loved helping people in this capacity and was presented with many awards for donating over 1000 hours a year. Ed retired from his job after 22 years at the age of 86 and continued volunteering until shortly before his death. He also volunteered at Artpark for many years.

Ed was a member of the Ransomville Rural Retirees and enjoyed the last several years traveling extensively with the seniors and his cherished friends. He also enjoyed playing cards, and walking and bicycling for exercise.

Ed's charming personality, vibrant smile, and witty sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him. He touched many lives in so many ways. His greatest pleasure was to bring a little joy to others and to make them smile. He was a true gentleman with a heart of gold.

He is survived by his son, Edmund M. Page of Lewiston and his daughter Sharon (Kenny) Cline, also of Lewiston, and several nieces and nephews. His best friend and sweetheart, Lois J. Johnston of the Town of Niagara, and many treasured friends also survive him. Besides his parents and his wife, Ed was predeceased by his sister, Harriet (late Thomas) Young and his brother, John (late Irene) Page.

True to his giving nature, Ed's final gift was the donation of his body to the University of Buffalo School of Medicine. A Celebration of Life to honor Ed will be held at a date to be announced. Leslie Charles Sanford of Lockport entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Eastern Niagara Hospital. He was born October 15, 1929 in Lockport, the son of the late Myron and Helen Sanford.

He was an avid bowler and sports fan. He was married 44 years to the late Lewetta Sanford.

He is survived by his children, Patricia Stoddard (Clarence), Nancy Hummel (Steve), Lori Piscicelli (Nicholas), and Judy Michaels. His grandchildren; Cheyenne Rhodes, Tracey Linderman, Scott Stoddard, Matthew Stoddard, Joni Janis, Christy Hummel, Michael Madson, and Christopher Madson. He is also survived by a sister, Rita Myers, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Helen Sojka (Podsiadlo), 90, of Sanborn, NY passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Schoellkopf Health Center. She was born March 3, 1925 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of Vincent and Josephine (Bryla) Podsiadlo; wife of the late Julian H. Sojka.

Helen was self employed and owned several social establishments such as Swiezy's Delicatessen, The Marlboro Inn, Eiffel Tower and The White House. She enjoyed entertaining her family and friends.

Helen was predeceased by Walter (Irene) Podsiadlo; husband, Julian H. Sojka, Jessie (Ted) Stachyra, Estelle (Walter) Gross, and son, Julian T. Sojka.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Christine (late Neil) Hardman, daughter-in-law, Kathleen Sojka and her grandchildren, Elaine (Michael) Parenti, Erin (Chuck) Clothier, Clark Sojka and great grandson, Chucky Clothier and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior visitation. Mrs. Sojka donated her body to science research in the Anatomical Gift Program at the University at Buffalo. Marleen was a 1955 graduate of Kensington High School and had been employed as a School Bus Driver for North Tonawanda School District for 22 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of the Niagara River Yacht Club.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Donald A. Prohaska; 4 children, Ronald (Rene) Prohaska, Wendy Taylor, Richard (Debra) Prohaska and Amy Prohaska; 9 grandchildren, Lisa, Lindy (Tom), Nicholas (Shannon), Amanda, Kyle (Denise), Shawn, Haley (Kevin), Bryan and Michael; 5 great grandchildren, Brandon, Emily, Raelynn, Calvin and Evelyn; daughter of the late Lee and Ruth Myers. A. Elsie Wendt, age 105, formerly of Wheatfield, was called peacefully to her heavenly home on May 13, 2015 at the Briody Health Care Facility, Lockport, NY. Born in Massey, Ontario, Canada on January 31, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Gustave and Emma Goltz. Elsie came to the United States as a teen and became a naturalized citizen. She was a devoted mother and homemaker, enjoyed reading, cooking, baking and spending quality time with her family. Elsie was the oldest member in history of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn.

Survivors include 5 children, Suzanne (decd. Bill) Galganski of Amherst, Daniel (Jean) Wendt of North Tonawanda, Janet Wendt of Amherst, Ruby (Paul) Mangan and Gail Dietz, both of Lockport; 8 grandchildren, Michele (Adonis) Cleanthons, Michael Galganski, Amy (Thomas) Fitch, Patricia (Ryan) Schoenfeld, Shaun (Jenny) Mangan, Lisa (Scott) Flicker, Jonathan (Gretchen) Wurl and Andrew Wurl; fifteen great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur W. Wendt on September 25, 2002. They were united in marriage on June 4, 1938; and five brothers, Henry, Edmund, Albert, Arnold and Herman.

Elton Schaal of Wilson passed away May 18, 2015 at the age of 85. Son of the late Edwin and Agathe Schaal and husband to the late Elizabeth (Morton) and brother to the late Helen Wollaber and Dolores Eckler. Elton was a local farmer and worked for Harrison Radiator. A United States Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. Elton was a devoted Christian and lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wilson, NY.

He had a deep love for the land and his farm animals. He enjoyed selling his crops at the Niagara Falls and North Tonawanda City Markets. Most of all, he loved being at home and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Dorothy (George) Preston of Ithaca NY, Nancy Simmons of Wilson, NY, Gloria (Thomas) Ierardi of Skaneateles NY; his sister, Ruth (Gale) Pasquarette; and his six grandchildren, Geoffrey and Emma Preston, Kiersten and Benjamin Simmons, Maria and Alex Ierardi.

Dennis M. Flanagan of Lockport, NY, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at home. Born on December 15, 1942 in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late William M. and Elizabeth Mulvena Flanagan.

Dennis served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966. He was the owner of Flanagan Electric, member of Lockport Town & Country Club and enjoyed golfing. He and his wife, the former Harriet Ulrich, were married on February 23, 1989.

Surviving Dennis are his wife, Harriet; his daughter, Kelly (Ronald) Hiam of Lockport; step-children, Franklin Pratt of TX and Ruth (Kenneth) Kittle of Lancaster; grandchildren, Christian and Jordan Hiam and Morgan, Bethany and Luke Kittle; his sister, Eileen (James) Malecki of Henrietta; two nephews and his brother-in-law, David L. Robert Edward May, age 73, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Gasport, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, November 4, 2015. Born June 23, 1942 in North Tonawanda, Bob is the son of the late Edward T. and Florence (Neumann) May.

Bob married Janice Thursam June 23, 1962 at Friedens United Church of Christ in North Tonawanda. They have been married for 53 years. Bob was the Vice President of Pivot Punch Corp where he worked for 43 years retiring in August of 2003. After retiring, Bob and Jan moved to Florida, coming home in the summer where they stayed at the Niagara-Hartland Campground. An avid outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a member of the North American Punch Manufacturers Association, Marco Lutheran Church, former member of the Gasport Lions Club and former President and member of the Enchanting Shore Co-op.

Surviving Bob is his loving wife Janice May; and his dear children, Michele May-Tomkinson of Cocoa, Fl., Brad (Paige) May of Newfane and Cameron (Angela) May of Barker. Grandfather of Karyssa, Kaylee, Rachel, Mateo, Natalia, Macie, Milayna and Trevin. Great grandfather of KaeShaan and Karriana. Loving Nana Jo

Josephine M. (Mameli) Gravanti, 91, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, November 4, 2014. Born in Albion, NY she was the daughter of the late John and Filippa (Alessi) Mameli.

Josephine came to Niagara Falls, NY as a child with her family and attended local schools. Following her graduation from high school she continued her education in cosmetology school. On June 21, 1943 she married Anthony N. Gravanti at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls. Mr. Gravanti predeceased her on July 6, 1998. Jo, as she was affectionately known, worked as a hair stylist for many years prior to becoming a teacher at Niagara Hairstyling where her students knew her as Miss Jo. In her later years, she worked part time at the Niagara Falls Public Library both on Main Street and at the LaSalle Branch. Jo was a longtime member of St. Vincent De Paul Parish in Niagara Falls. She loved cooking, going to the Casino and her Monthly Dinner Club. Jo’s door was always open for everyone and she was everybody's Nana. Above everything else, nothing came before Josephine's family and she especially loved hosting family gatherings in her home.

Jo is survived by two daughters; Marie (late Jerry) Genova of Niagara Falls, NY and Kathleen (Nick) D'Angelo of Cambria, NY; four grandchildren; Jerry Genova, Christine (Joseph) Genova-Mancari, Maria Murawski and Kenny (Tammi) Walaszek; six great grandchildren Bianca and Jenna Genova, Eddie Murawski, Isabella Walaszek, Nickolas and Nina Mancari; one great great grandson Shane Murawski; two brothers-in-law John Gravanti and Robert (Doraine) Gravanti; one sister-in-law. James Briganti, 74, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on October 14, 2014. Born in Niagara Falls, New York, on December 5, 1939. He was the son of Joseph and Dolores (Gruppo) Brigante. James was employed by the US Postal Service for 31 years, retiring in 1992. He served in the US Air Force from June 1958 until his honorable discharge in June 1962. In August 1962, he married the former Marie Church in Greenville, Maine.

James was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of Niagara Frontier Country Club since 1991. He enjoyed his family and especially his grandchildren, to whom he was known as "Papa".

Along with his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Robert (Tina) Seager of Wilson, NY; his son, Joseph (Erin) Briganti of Rochester, NY; his grandchildren, Robert and Emma Seager, Olivia and Anna Briganti, and a grandchild James Briganti expected in November. He is also survived by a brother, Neil Briganti of Niagara Falls, NY. He was predeceased by a sister, Mrs. Frank (Michelina) Alongi. He is also survived by his uncle, Neil (Mary) Gruppo; aunt, Mrs. Anthony (Nancy) Travis; aunt, Mrs. Ed (Jean) McGinley and uncle, Salvatore Brigante of New Mexico.

Mary Ann (Siuta) Usavage of Chester Springs, PA, beloved wife of Paul J Usavage for 60 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late William Siuta and Mary (Skurski) Siuta. Mary Ann was a graduate of St Mary's High School in Niagara Falls, NY, and Alliance College in Cambridge Springs, PA. She taught English in the Chester School District for six years before moving to Chester Springs and raising her four children.

Mary Ann was a long-time member of St. Philip and James RC Church in Exton, PA. She volunteered many hours to the church and its charities over the years. She was especially devoted to the beautification of Saint Mary's Chapel. She was a charter member of the Bacton Hill Stitchers and its predecessor, the Procrastinators' Garden Club.

Surviving with her husband are children, Paul Jr. and wife, Vicki, Gregory and wife, Donna, Colette and husband, Dr. Jeffrey Bright, and Christian and wife, Barbara; nine grandchildren; sister, Victoria (Siuta) Grabka and husband ,Alfred. She was predeceased by her brother, William Siuta, Jr.

Mr. John Dobrasz, 75, of Atlanta, GA, passed away October 20, 2014. He was born on February 20, 1939 in Niagara Falls, NY, to the late Lottie Moskal and Anthony Dobrasz. After graduating from Niagara Falls High School, John attended Hamilton College in Clinton, NY and graduated in 1962 with a BA in history. He then honorably served in the United States Air Force in the Intelligence division. He retired from the US Air Force as a Major in 1983. After retirement, John traveled the world. He volunteered in Poland as a conversational English teacher. He was a member of the Northside Hospital Auxiliary for 9 years. John was a coin and stamp collector and avid reader. He was very kind, gentle and patient.

Mildred L. Barnum, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, September 6, 2014, in Schoellkopf Health Center. She was born in Olmstedville, NY on August 20, 1922, the daughter of the late Harry and Marguerite (Gallagher) McNally.

Mrs. Barnum came to Niagara Falls in 1942. She served her country in the United States Navy during WWII. When she returned home she was employed at Bell Aircraft and Tops Market, where she was the Quality Control Inspector until her retirement in 1986, after working for over 20 years. Mrs. Barnum was also a long-time parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. She was an avid Yankees fan, enjoyed reading, going to the casino, making her world famous lasagna, brownies and pizzelles. Most of all she treasured her grand and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Barnum married John J. Barnum on July 10, 1948. They were married for 20 years until he passed away in 1969. She is survived by her daughters, Carol J. (Stuart) Sheldon and Janet M. (Robert Gee) Thompson; grandchildren, William (Lealy) Murphy III, Thomas J. (Angelina) Murphy, Michael C. Marion J. Moderacki, 97, of Spring Hill, FL, formerly of North Tonawanda, NY. Marion was born to Joseph and Catherine (Federowicz) Moderacki.

Marion was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He enjoyed gardening, especially his roses. Marion was a proud member of the Polish American Social Club of Pasco County, Inc. and one of the founding members of the Third Warders Social Club.

Marion was predeceased by his wife, Marian J. (Kozlowski) Moderacki (1982); and Felicia (Majka) Moderacki (2001). Marion is survived by his children, Carole (Bruce) Kaleta, Sharon (Charlie) Williams, Debbie (Tony) Rotolo, Cindy (Brian) Hess and Duane (Donna) Moderacki; brother of Sophie Rizzo and Stella Lucek; grandfather of Tami, Tim, Charlie, Aaron, Briana, Shawn, Tara, Jozef, and Brett. Also survived by eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Carole Lundberg, longtime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at Buffalo General Hospital. She was 78. She was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on June 16, 1936, a daughter of the late George and Roberta (Allen) Colville. She attended Ontario schools and then moved to the United States after marrying Donald Lundberg.

Mrs. Lundberg was a longtime member of Riverside Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder and Deacon. She also enjoyed ballroom dancing and ice dancing, and was a member of the Professional Secretaries International.

She is survived by her two sons, Steven G. (Michele) Lundberg of Sanborn and Allyn R. (Lette) Lundberg of Boynton Beach, FL, and her sister-in-law, Bernice (Lillian) (late Ross) Colville. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Amber, Nicholas and Anthony Lundberg of Boynton Beach, FL, and Kyle and Nicole Lundberg of Sanborn, NY; her great-granddaughter, Hannah Lundberg and her three step-grandchildren, Megan, David and Hallie Sykes, all of Boynton Beach, FL. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald Lundberg (1983); and her siblings, Bette (late Sandy) Hansen and Ross (Bernice) Colville.

Roy Nelson Vance, Jr., of Getzville, died on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 in Beachwood Continuing Care. He was 88. He was born in Niagara Falls on November 5, 1925, the son of Roy N. and Katherine (Hall) Vance, Sr.

A graduate of Niagara Falls High School, he attended RCA School of Technology in New York, NY and served in the US Army during World War II. He was employed as a department superintendent at Union Carbide Corp. in Niagara Falls where he worked for 37 years, retiring in 1982. He was predeceased by his first wife, Maxine Lightner, in March of 1986.

Roy lived a full and rich life. He traveled extensively having been to all 50 states and many countries. He believed in serving his community. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. For over 25 years he was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, first as a blood donor and also transported blood to local hospitals in Western New York. He volunteered as a driver for the North Tonawanda Meals on Wheels for over 25 years. For many years he was an active member of St. Marks Episcopal Church, North Tonawanda and for the past 27 years with Riverside Presbyterian Church, Niagara Falls, serving in many capacities.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Gunderson) Farrell Vance; a daughter, Melinda (Russ) Fehrman; a son, Matthew Vance, both of Coshocton, OH; step-children, Dr. James (Katherine) Farrell of Skaneateles, NY, David (MaryBeth) Farrell of Florham Park, NJ and Richard (Angie) Farrell of Penfield, NY; a niece, Catherine (Bill) Backlund of New Wilmington, PA; a cousin, Shirley Chynoweth of Getzville; blessed with many grandchildren whom he delighted spending time with, Leslie (Kyle) Ridenbaugh and Mitchell Fehrman, both of Coshocton, OH; Sarah (Miles) Lauchli of Longmont, CO, Lindsey Farrell and Daniel Farrell, both of NY, NY, Ryan, Sean and Kelsey Farrell of Skaneateles, NY, Caitlin, Megan and Kelly, all of Penfield, NY.

There will be no prior visitation. Memorial services will be celebrated on Saturday at 2 PM in Riverside Presbyterian Church, 815-84th Street, Niagara Falls, NY. Interment will be private in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the church or to North Tonawanda Meals on Wheels, 100 Ridge Road, North Tonawanda, NY 14120. Jon Douglas Hartel, 67, of North Tonawanda, entered into rest on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Buffalo. He was predeceased by his parents, the late Douglas and Dixie (Youmans) Hartel.

Jon enjoyed watching Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres games. He enjoyed handcrafting homemade guitars in his free time. He was a member of American Legion Tonawanda Post 264 and was a Vietnam era United States Air Force veteran.

Jon is survived by his children, Jon, Jr. (Janet) of Battle Creek, MI, Scott (Kelli) Hartel of Niagara Falls, NY, Tammy Cannan and Patty Mckinney; grandchildren, Thomas and Alexander Hartel, Vanessa Hartel, Ashley Goodrich, Evan Mckinney and Nicole Dellavalle; great-grandchildren, James, Kaiden and Kenzie Dellavalle.

Loving Husband,Father & Grandfather

Nikolaj "Nick" Birjukow, 68, of Newfane, NY, passed away suddenly, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Born in Rosenheim, Germany, he was the son of the late Akim and Dora (Galowski) Birjukow.

Nikolaj immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island with his family at the age of five and settled in the Niagara County area where he lived until the present time. In Vietnam, Nikolaj served in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge in May of 1968. In 1970, he married Darlene A. (DePrey) Birjukow. In 1974 Nikolaj became a successful self-made businessman as the founder of Niagara Coatings Services, Inc., where he worked until retiring in 2008. He also was involved with a number of other entrepreneurial projects throughout his career.

Nikolaj was a longtime member of the Niagara Frontier Country Club in Youngstown, NY. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer and for many years enjoyed traveling with his golf buddies. Nikolaj and his wife spent their winters in Florida where they enjoyed visiting with their family and friends. He had a passion for the outdoors and the western town he built on his farm in Newfane, NY, which housed many of the family's beloved pets throughout his lifetime. But most of all Nikolaj's greatest pleasure was spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife of forty-four years, Nikolaj is survived by four children, Kimberly M. (Allen R.) Birjukow-Richards of Lockport, NY, Sabrina S. Birjukow of Newfane, NY, Nikolaj J. Birjukow of Brooklyn, NY and Nathaniel T. Birjukow of Los Angeles, CA; three grandsons, Riley Richards, Shane Cushman and Landon Cushman; one brother, James (Vickie) Birjukow of Sanborn, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by loving in-laws and friends in the Niagara region, Florida and Washington State. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Birjukow and Leo Birjukow.

Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 PM and 6-8:30 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27th at 11:00 AM, concluding with Military Honors.
