Robert was a lifelong member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, where he served on various committees and choir member, a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1951-1953, and employed for many years at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, as the payroll and accounts supervisor. He enjoyed playing the organ, and was an accomplished artist. Robert was predeceased by a sister, Betty (Edward) Schultz. Survivors include a nephew, John (Sandra) Schultz; great niece, Amanda (John) Jasper; and great nephew, E. Joshua (Michelle) Schultz. 28352 | Robert G. "Bob" Bridgeman, of Sanborn and Niagara Falls, New York, died on February 26, 2018 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He was 82 years old. He was born in Niagara Falls on June 19, 1935, the son of Frederick Robert Bridgeman, who passed away when Bob and John were young children. His mother, Lillian C. (Wright) Sullivan married Edmund Sullivan and raised their two sons. Bob was a graduate of the former LaSalle Jr/Sr High School, Class of 1953. Following high school, he served in the United States Army National Guard. He worked for Union Carbide (Alcom Metal Corp) as a design draft engineer, retiring after 40 years. He was well known for his keen sense of humor, always having a grand time playing a good joke on an unsuspecting person. He and his wife, Beverly, were wonderful hosts to some great parties at their homes in the country and along the river. He had a strong bond with the outdoors. An avid fisherman and hunter, he loved to share his prized catches with family, friends and neighbors. Bob loved boating in the Niagara River, wintering in Florida and trips to New England. He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception RC Church. Bob was predeceased by his high school sweetheart and loving wife, Beverly Ann (Blessing) Bridgeman, on December 20, 2016. He is survived by three children, Robyn (Dennis) Toth of Pendleton; Robert "Bobby" Bridgeman of Sanborn and Lynn (Christopher) Coleman of Lockport; his brother, John Bridgeman of Niagara Falls; eight grandchildren; and a special Godfather to several honored people. Born on December 10, 1924 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Clarence and Ina (Plumsteel) Homewood. Mr. Homewood was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. Robert attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy, during World War II, from January 13, 1943 until his honorable discharge on February 17, 1946. While serving, Mr. Homewood was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. On October 19, 1946, Robert married the former Ida Tickett in Niagara Falls, NY. She predeceased him in 1999. For 44 years, he was employed by the Occidental Chemical Corporation, until he retired on October 1, 1989. Mr. Homewood enjoyed maintaining his car and reading. Mr. Homewood is survived by two children, Deborah (Charles) Sarzyniak of North Tonawanda, NY and Scott Homewood of Charlotte, NC and was predeceased by one son, Robert A. Homewood. Robert is also survived by three grandchildren and one sister, Jeanette Wagner of Florida. In addition to his wife and son, he was predeceased by one brother, Gerald (late Andree')Homewood. He also owned and operated Ridgeview Plumbing and Heating and ran a vegetable stand at the North Tonawanda and Niagara Falls markets for 15 years under the name Schendel Farms. A member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Ridge, he was on the church's Board of Elders for 12 years and in the church's adult choir for several years. He was a member of the Lutheran Laymen League for 20 years, the ABC Wilson Businessmen Bowling League on Townline Road for 20 years, the Niagara County Cooperative Extension in Lockport, and was involved in the construction of the St. Peter School and gymnasium. Survivors include his wife, Marion (Lindhurst); his father. George Schendel of Lockport; two sons, David of Lockport and Brian of Apalachian, (sic) N.Y.; two daughters. Mrs. Jerry (Brenda) Hurtgam of Ransomville. and Bonnie, at home; a sister, Mrs. Norman (Norma) Seabert of Lockport; and seven grandchildren. He was the son of the late Pearl (Bluhm) Schendel. Born on May 3, 1942 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Francis Howard and Laura Louise (Farrell) Deshler. Mr. Deshler was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. Bob, as he was known to family and friends, attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He attended Erie County Tech and earned his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the former Tri-State University in Indiana (Trine University). Mr. Deshler proudly serviced in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on September 14, 1965. On March 10, 1972 he married the former Bette L. Watts. Bob was employed as an engineer for the former Harrison Radiator (Delphi), until he retired in 2000. He was a longtime, active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and served as a volunteer, with his wife, for Meals-on-Wheels of Niagara Falls. In addition to his beloved wife of over 44 years, Mr. Deshler is survived by four children, Ceridwyn Cunningham, Chester Hampton Clark, IV, Kevin Alexander (Regina) Deshler and Lori D. (Kevin) Gantt; eight grandchildren, Andrew, Cassandra, Rhiannon (Robert), Samantha, Mason, Alexis, Dyllan and Bobby and one great-grandson, Trenton. Robert graduated from Royalton-Hartland High School in 1966 and earned an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. He worked for 26 years at Fisher-Price Toys in Medina where he was a forklift operator. He also drove school bus for Ridge Road Express and was a counselor at Wyndham Lawn Home. Robert was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, watching the Buffalo Bills, and his New York Yankees which he loved to hate at times! He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling to Oneida Lake, the Thousand Islands, and Myrtle Beach where many fond memories were made. Known by "Fid" to most and "Fred" to some, he had an infectious laugh which without a doubt told you he was not far away. Robert was born on May 30, 1935, in Springville, NY, the son of the late Joseph and Winifred (nee Emerling) Seider. He married the former Rose Caffarelli in 1963. Bob served in the US Navy and Navy Reserves from 1953-1957. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University, he earned his Master’s Degree from Rutgers University. In a career of 55 years as a research scientist, he obtained 19 patents for fuel additives and abrasive materials. He retired from Washington Mills as a Research & Development Ceramic Engineer.In addition to being an inventor, he was also a master craftsman. He built, owned and managed Niagara Woodlands, a 172-site family campground. He personally hand constructed with his sons 6 family homes, two proto-type wind turbines, a 25-foot cabin cruiser, several R/C airplanes and a chiropractic apparatus bench, to name just a few.He was a hard worker his entire life. Born in Niagara Falls, NY. He was the son of the late Stanley and Victoria (Lopacki) Wegrzyn. Robert was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On June 9, 1962 he married Mary E. (Bauman) Wegrzyn in Bloomsburg, PA. Mrs. Wegrzyn predeceased him on August 29, 2014. He was employed as a Purchasing Manager for Carborundum (Unifrax) Corp. in Niagara Falls, NY for 45 years. When he was younger he played fast pitch softball and in 2006 he was inducted into the Niagara Falls Sports Hall of Fame for his accomplishments. He was a member and served as a past president of the NW Community Boosters Club. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and especially enjoyed going hunting with his son Bob. He also loved traveling in his motor home with his family. They traveled all over the Northeast. But most of all, Bob (Pop Pop) lived to watch and support his grandchildren participate in sports and other activities. Robert is survived by three children Robert J. (Carla) Wegrzyn, Jr. , Mary (Ken) Gonyea both of Wheatfield, NY and Lisa (Mark) Baehre of Clarence, NY; eight grandchildren Meghan, Ali, Erin, Olivia, Michael, Delaney, Lexi and Robert; one sister Jean (Harvey) Wegrzyn; one brother-in-law Daniel Bauman and many nieces, nephews and cousins. (Clark) York. Bob was a graduate of LaSalle Senior High School. On August 13, 1966, he married Linda (Rainer) York at St. John de LaSalle Church. She predeceased him on February 9, 2021. Bob was employed as an Electrician with IBEW Local #237 from 1969 until his retirement in 2002. Throughout his life, Bob dedicated his life to others through volunteer firefighting, EMT, and auxiliary service. He was a longtime member of Lewiston Fire Company #2 and proudly served as Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, Trustee and on the Hazmat team, among other roles. He was a former EMT with Tri-Community, also was very proud of his work with the Coast Guard Auxiliary. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed playing golfing, boating, camping and traveling extensively. Above all he took great pleasure in spending time with his family, especially his great-grandson, Chanse. Robert is survived by his children, David R. (fianceé Lori Mix) York and Jeffrey R. Born on November 23, 1931 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Martin and Anna (Bartko) Johnson. On September 19, 1964, Robert married the former Joanne Boyd in Prince of Peace Church. She predeceased him on May 10, 2013. Mr. Johnson was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. Robert was a graduate of the first graduating class of the former Bishop Duffy High School. He also earned his associates degree from Erie Community College. Mr. Johnson proudly served in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict, from July 18, 1952 until he was honorably discharged on July 1, 1954. Robert was employed by Bell Aerospace as a Metallurgic Technician and retired from the Niagara Falls Fire Department in 1986 as Captain. Mr. Johnson was a communicant of St. John de LaSalle Church. Robert’s devotion to his faith and family was first and foremost in his life. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. 28377 | ROBERT JOHN HARRIGAN Jan. 22, 1941 ~ Sept. 21, 2016 On Wednesday, September 21, 2016, Robert John Harrigan, with family by his side, passed away peacefully. The youngest of 12 children born in 1941, son of James and Gertrude Harrigan, Robert grew up in the City of Niagara Falls, New York. He was naturally athletic and earned the nickname "Lynx", like the fast mountain cat, that stayed with him throughout his life and now goes to heaven with him. As a teenage Irish lad in the 1950's, he would learn to be a bricklayer having been taught by great mentors who became lifelong friends. He was proud of being a member of the Bricklayers & Allied Craftsman Union Local #3 in Buffalo. Many of the buildings that stand in Western New York he helped build, too many to name here, but include the Convention Center, Power Project, Fatima Shrine, and St. Peter's RC Church that he attended each Sunday. In 1962 he married Geraldine Syracuse and they would have three children that they raised in Lewiston, NY. He is survived by his wife; children, Cindy (William III) Berard, Mark (Francesca) Harrigan, and Dr. Paul Harrigan; his grandchildren, Rachel, Geri Lynn, Anne, and William IV Berard, Kayleigh and Emily Harrigan; his siblings, Edward (Julie) Harrigan, Francis (late Louise) Harrigan, Maryann (James) Ivey; brother in law Fred Metro; sister in law, Maxine (James) Casey; and several nieces and nephews. Bob retired from Harrison Radiator in Lockport in 1998 after 30 years, but he never stopped working. He loved woodworking, and spent days in his garage or working on the lawn and around the house tinkering and playing with his lawn tractors. Bob enjoyed going for rides with Mary, shopping, a hot dog at Reid's or an ice cream by the lake or a visit to the neighbors on the golf cart. His granddaughter was the light of his life from the time he first held her in the hospital, she was so precious to him. Born in Lockport on June 1, 1935, he was the son of the late Wilfred Sr. and Blanche Hollenbeck Gillings. Robert worked at Simonds Saw and Steel for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Moose Club, the Navy Marine Club, the Redman Club and the Eagles Club #825. Robert enjoyed playing Euchre, gardening, farming, lending a helping hand to those in need and played Santa Claus around Christmas time. He is predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Mary Jean (nee Reynolds) Gillings, who passed away November 8, 1997. Robert is survived by his son, Robert L. 28387 | Robert M. DiFrancesco, 77, of Lewiston, NY passed away unexpectedly on September 11, 2024, at his residence. Born March 22, 1947, in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Italian immigrants, Marino ‘Sheik’ and Concetta (Ricotta) DiFrancesco, whom deeply believed in education and hard work which set the basis of Bob’s life. He was also the beloved husband of Sheila (D’Aloise) DiFrancesco, whom he married on July 26, 1975 at St. Joseph’s Church. Bob was a graduate of Bishop Duffy High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree and three Master’s degrees from Niagara University. He began his 44-year dedication to the community in education and leadership at the former LaSalle Senior High School in 1969. He became the Dean of Students and Vice Principal at the former Trott Vocational High School in the 1970s, and then took the role as Vice Principal of LaSalle Junior and Niagara Falls High School. In 1987, Bob was promoted to Principal of LaSalle Junior and later became the Principal of Niagara Falls High School. It was only fitting that Bob finished his successful career at his former high school, Niagara Catholic High School (former Bishop Duffy), where he would serve as Principal for 10 years prior to retiring in 2013. Bob was the recipient of countless awards and accolades throughout his tenure. For his dedication, the 24th Street School was named the Robert M. DiFrancesco Center for Childhood and Head Start Education in his honor. Bob always made time giving back to the community as a volunteer, serving in different capacities as former president and vice-president for several different civic organizations including the Niagara Police Athletic League, Niagara County Youth Board, Niagara Head Start Board, New York State Cerebral Palsy Association, Niagara Cerebral Palsy (Empower), Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Foundation Board, Riverdale Cemetery Board and the Friends of the Library. Bob was a devout Catholic and lifetime parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church where he served as an Altar Boy, Eucharistic Minister and Lecture. Bob loved to cook and was featured on ‘Cooking with Lori & Friends’ alongside his good friends, Chuck Marazzo and Jim Cancemi. He had a passion for cars, especially his Camaro, and loved long rides, as well as listening to 1950s rock and roll. Bob and Sheila were also longtime members of the Niagara Falls Country Club. Mr. DiFrancesco not only centered his life around his family, but his strong leadership and devotion to the community and its children will never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed. In addition to his wife of 49 years, Mr. DiFrancesco is survived by his cherished sister, Anne (late William) Fadel; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joel (Joy Fera Knack) D'Aloise and Shelley (Gerald Wozniak) D’Aloise; many cousins; his beloved family of Niagara Catholic; the classes of 1975 and 1977 students at LaSalle, and Trott Vocational class of 1980, as well as many other students, parents and colleagues he had the privilege to serve throughout the years. A native of North Tonawanda, Schultz served during World War II with the Army Air Corps. He lived in Bergholz since 1950 and had worked in the maintenance department at the International Filler Corp. in North Tonawanda for 43 years, retiring last August due to illness. He was a member of the Sikora Post American Legion in North Tonawanda, Survivors include his wife, Alice (Loeschke); a Son, Robert W. of Rochester; a daughter, Deborah Mason of Niagara Falls; a brother, Edmund Schultz of Elma, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Caroline McAllister of Hamlin, N.Y., and Mrs. Walter (Dorothy) Fura of North Tonawanda; and a granddaughter. After his honorable discharge in 1962 he worked as a truck driver for several companies, retiring from St. Johnsbury in Tonawanda. Mr. Beaver loved to travel and loved going out to dinner but his greatest joy was his time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving companion of 15 years, Patricia Felkner, and her family, two children: Robert P. He is survived by his wife, Kristen (Seege) deGuehery and sons, Robert A. and Connor F. deGuehery. Bob is also survived by his five siblings; James and Suzette deGuehery, Rosemary (deGuehery) and Stephen Cena, Thomas and Kathleen deGuehery, Margaret (deGuehery) Dusel, and Crean and Catherine deGuehery and by his in-laws; Kim (Seege) and James Guido and Kyle (Seege) LoConti. He also had numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Bob and Kris were married for 35 wonderful years. Their sons were a constant source of pride to him. He always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Bob was employed as a service technician for Hobart ITW for 32 years where he installed and repaired commercial cooking equipment. Around the house, Bob could fix anything. Bob was a member of Kenmore Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and served as an elder and as a trustee. He was an avid reader. In recent years, Bob discovered a love for fishing and target-shooting on the family property in Warsaw, NY. Those who knew him, knew he was a strong but quiet man.
