She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on March 1, 1940, a daughter of the late Donald and Verna Lillian (Landes) Hartwig. She attended local schools and was graduated from Niagara Falls High School.She worked as a sales clerk at several businesses at the Factory Outlet Mall. Bonnie was very active with her kids, attending and chaperoning many band field trips. She also chaperoned Shawnee Bugle Corps field trips. She taught dance at Miss Bev's. She was a member of the LaSalle Sportsman Club Ladies Auxiliary and its former Mother Club; Niagara Lazy Lakes, Zion Lutheran Church and attended Grace Lutheran Church. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and her many trips to Florida and Disney World with her family. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Blair Kephart; three children, Blair Kephart (Jennifer) and Shelley Farris, both of Niagara Falls, Shawn Kephart (Jill) of Grand Island; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Donald Scott Kephart in 2003. Bonnie married the love of her life, Jeffery in 1966 after he returned from the Vietnam War and moved to Arizona in 1969. She graduated from LaSalle Sr. High, obtained a degree in food administration, became a trained dog groomer, was a trainer with National Semi-Conductor in Tucson, and was a successful retail distributor. Bonnie and her husband were members of American Legion Post #131. Bonnie is predeceased by Jeffery, her husband of 46 years; her parents; and sister, Anne; and brother-in-law, Jose. Bonnie is survived by her brother, Fred, Jr. (Denise), Franklinville, NY; sister, Jeanne (Edward) Powick, Cape May, NJ; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shelley and Rich King of Tucson; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; and dear friends (especially Donna) in Arizona and New York. 3753 | Bonnie Jean (Schul) Snyder, formerly of Niagara Falls, of Lockport, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 11, 2019 in Buffalo Mercy Hospital following emergency surgery. She was 72 years old. Bonnie was born in Niagara Falls on April 10, 1947, the daughter of the late Howard H. Schul, Sr and Patricia (Dugas) Schul. She graduated from Niagara Falls High School, class of 1965 and Niagara County Community College. She worked at the University of Buffalo Dental School for over twenty years with numerous friends helping mold students into doctors. Most recently, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels bringing joy to everyone she worked with and served. She was an amazing, caring and loving woman, who lived life to its fullest. She and her husband, Frederick had a beautiful marriage and were blessed with two sons, Matthew and Mark and four grandchildren, Zachary, Collin, David and Ella. She will be missed deeply. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Frederick Snyder; beloved sons, Matthew A. (Heather) Snyder of Olmsted Falls, OH and Mark A. (Karina) of Carmel, IN; her dearest siblings, Diana (Wayne) Vigue of Niagara Falls; Howard H. (Theresa) Schul, Jr of Grand Island; Arlene (Edwin) Stallard of Amherst and Eric K. Born in Cheektowaga, NY and raised in the Town of Niagara, NY, she was the daughter of Joan Bolton and the late Paul Bolton. Bonnie graduated from Niagara Wheatfield in 1979 and worked as a cosmetologist for several years before moving to Florida. While in Jacksonville, she was a longtime employee of both Patti’s and O’Charley’s restaurants. Bonnie returned home in 2019 to take care of her parents. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed NASCAR, the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Bandits. She also had a passion for cooking and baking. Bonnie had a heart of gold and always provided love and care to the less fortunate. Above all, she loved spending time with family and friends who will miss her dearly. Mr. Andrews had been employed by Cyprus Wire and Cable Corporation in Rome for 34 years. He retired last June. He was a member of the West Leyden Cen- tral School Board several terms. He also operated a barber shop at the Schmoker store barn. He was a member of the Reform- ed Church and its board, the West Leyden Fire Deprtment, past mas- ter of the West Leyden Grange and past president of the West Ley- den Producers cooperative. After selling their dairy in 1967, Ernest was em- ployed by Oneida county Reforestation Service. He was later employed as the engineer at the Village of Boonville, a landfill. He re- tired about six years ago. A Methodist, Mr. Andrews was also a member of Boonville Urtel Masonic Lodge. Survivors include three brothers, Homer C. Andrews and Charles I. Andrews, both of Boon- ville, and Raymond G. Andrews, North Western; and two sisters, Pearl Johnson of Frankfort and Erna Grower, Boonville. He was predeceased by three brothers, Howard Andrews in 1976, J. Orin Andrews in 1988 and Fred Andrews in 1991; and by two sisters, Ida Forte in 1992 and Mildred Dude in 1992. After graduating from Boonville Central School, he attended LaFayette College in Pennsylvania. For 18 years Mr. Havens was employed by International Business Machines in Utica where he was a machine technician. In recent years he operated the Havens Office Equipment Company in Boonville, repairing electronic office equipment and machines. A member of Love Post American Legion #406 of Boonville, he was also a member of Boonville Lodge of Elks #2158. Mr. Havens is survived by his mother, Mrs. Harold (Marline) Mahaffy. Utlca. on October 2. 1991. He had been hospitalized since September 22. Mr. Andrews was born on May 22. 1915, a son of Albert C. and Delia M. Briggs Andrews. He spent his younger life on his family's farm on Potato Hill Road and attended the nearby rural school. As a young man. Mr. Andrews was employed on the construction of Route 12 between Boonville and Port Leyden. For a time, he was the foreman of Brant's Excelsior Mill in Hawkinsville. He was later employed at General Cable Corporation. Rome, and from 1942 until 1976. he was employed at Rome Cable Corporation. Rome. When he retired, he was a supervisor of maintenance. Mr. Andrews married Marion Gantner in Remsen on November 6, 1937. For the past several years. Mr. and 'Mrs. Andrews have spent winters at Zephyrhllls. Florida, and summers in Boonville. A member of Boonville United Methodist Church. Mr. Andrews was also a member of Boonvllle-Uriel Lodge 165 F. & A. M. and Boonville Fire Company. He was also a Village of Boonville trustee. Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, John H. Andrews and Robert F. She was born in Ava on August 14, 1922, a daughter of eugene and Loretta Smith Ammon. She grew up in West Leyden and graduated from West Leyden High School. She and her sister, Marie, operated a beauty shop in Boonville for several years before she was employed at Griffiss Air Base in Rome. for many years she was employed at the Acme Grocery market in Boonville, in the meat department, until the store burned in 1970. Shirley was united in marriage with Percy Frederick in January 1946. Mrs. Frederick was a member of the West Leyden Dutch Reformed Church, the Harland J. Hennessey Post VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a life member and secretary of the Lost Trail Snowmo- vile cub, and a life member and secretary of the Constableville Fish & Game Club. Besides her husband, surviving re one son, Ronald C. Frederick, Pompano Beach, Fla.; four daughters, Mrs. Garrett (Phyllis) Roseboom, Boon- ville, Lynda Frederick, Oriskany, Mrs. Jeanne Maya, Richmond, Va. and Mrs. James (Vicki) VerSchneider, Forestpost; six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; and one brother, Chrles ammon of West Leyden. She was predeceased by sisters, Bethany (Betty) Dutch in 1985 and by Marie LaPlante Zimmer in 1992. Her first husband, Joseph LaPlante, whom she mar- ried in Boonville on April 15, 1941, died on April 2, 1947. She married Walter W. Zimmer on May 16, 1952 in Halsteadt, Pa. Mr. Zimmer died on May 12, 1969. Before retiring in 1990, Mrs. Zimmer was the owner of Rome Reweavers. She was a member of West Leyden Dutch Reformed Church. From 1955 until he retired In 1982, Mr. Barrlnger was employed In the large tube mill at Revere Copper and Brass. In Rome. Wallace-was united In marriage with Marion L. Fox on August 8. 1941, at Ava Hilltop Methodist Church. Mrs. Barrlnger died on December 25. 1993,- He was a member of the StittviUe United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Stittville Volunteer Fire Depart- ment. Surviving are three sons. He grew up in Boonville, and gradu- ated from Boonville High School in the class of 1955. After that he attended Albany State Teachers College, and earned his B.A. Degree in 1959, and his Masters Degree in 1960. He then moved to Santa Monica, California, where be has since lived. For many years Mr. Andrews taught social studies at the Los Angeles High School, before becoming Guidance Counselor. For the past two years Mr. Andrews was the assistant principal at the High School, until becoming disabled in October 1996 due to his illness. He was a member of the Boonville United Methodist Church. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Andrews of Boonville. 3777 | Boonville NY Herald - 12/14/1977 WEST LEYDEN - Raymond G. Beha. 84. a lifelong resident of West Leyden, died on Sunday evening Dec. 11. at Huntington Hospital, Huntington. Long Island Mr. Beha had been hospitalized since Nov. 30. after suffering a stroke. Born in West Leyden on April 27. 1893. he was a son of John and Mary Kotary Beha. He was graduated from Boon- ville High School and the Boonville Teachers Training Class. Thereafter he taught in the area schools. During World War I Mr. Beha served with the U.S.Army in France. After being discharged from the Army, he settled on the family farm on the Mud Lake Road in the Town of Lewis. After selling the farm in 1946, the Beha Family moved to West Leyden. For a time Mr. Beha served as a substitute mail carrier from the West Leyden Post Office. After leaving the farm, Mr. Beha, was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome. He retired a number of years ago. Mr. Beha married Clara Tine on sept. 20, 1920 in West Leyden. She died on Jan. 18, 1949. He married Margaret Entwistle on April 27, 1948 in utica. She died on Aug. 9, 1968. Mr. Beha had spent the past few winters with his daughter, Miss HelenBeha, at Huntington, Long Island, and the summers at his home in West Leyden. He was a member of St. Mary's Church the West Leyden Fire Depart- ment and the Charles J. Love Post American Legion. Besides his daughter, Helen, Mr. Beha is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Katherine) St. John Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Robert (Margaret Mary) Aloan, Syra- cuse; a foster son, Harold Kessler, Holland Patent; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; two brothers, William J. Beha, West Leyden, Henry Beha, Colum- bus, Ohio, and one sister, Mrs. Turance Nabors, Seattle, Washington. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 9:45 a.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Boonville, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, West Leyden, where Rev. Mrs. Ammon was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rome and attended the Reformed church in West Leyden. She was also a member of the West Leyden Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband; her parents, in Ava; a daughter, Linda Ammon, and a son, Eugene Ammon, both at home; three sisters, Mrs. Russell (Elizabeth) Smith, Floyd; Mrs. Vernon (Mary Louise) Conover, Durham- ville, and Mrs. Arthur (Charlotte) Martzloff, North Bay; and two brothers, Edward E.S. Wallace Barringer on August 8. 1941. at Ava Hilltop Methodist Church. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Barringer operated the Barringer Family farm in Ava until 1961 when they moved to Stlttville. For 25 years. Mrs. Barringer was employed as a therapy aid at Marcy Psychiatric Center. She retired in 1983. A member of Stlttville United Methodist Church, Mrs. Barringer was also a member of Barneveld's Rebekah Lodge, the Stittville Fire Company Women's Auxiliary, and the Women's Auxiliary of Leon R. Mrs. Kraeger had been hospitalized since November 27. Born at Potters Corners in the Town of West Turin, ^August 11, 1923, she was a daughter of Eugene H. and Anna Tulley Bassett. Her entire life was spent in the vicinity of Constableville. She graduated from Constableville High School. Her marriage to Ernest P. Kraeger took place September 11, 1942 in Constableville. For a time Mrs. Kraeger was employed at Nelson's Department Store and by General Cable Corporation, both in Rome. For several years she was employed as a bookkeeper at the Boonville Agway store. Mrs. Kraeger was last employed by Kraft Foods Corporation in Lowville. She retired due to ill health. For a number of years she held the office of Registrar of Vital Statistics for the Village of Constableville. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. Besides her husband, and her mother, who lives in West Leyden, Mrs. Kraeger is survived by three sons, Alan P. Kraeger, Norwich, Eugene H. Kraeger, at home, and Matthew R. Kraeger, Westernville; five grandchildren; two brothers, Albert A. Bassett, Newark, and James F. Bassett, Port Leyden; three sisters, Mrs. Charles (June) Beha, West Leyden, and Mrs. OrvUle (Eleanor) Manzur in North Carolina. They have two sons, Ronald, who is in San Francisco, Calif., and Carl at home. Mr. Gleasman's family recently met with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gleasman and family, Boonville, where a picnic dinner was employed. 3785 | Boonville NY Herald - 1978 Mrs. Edna May Kime a well-known West Leyden Mer- chant, passed away at Rome Hospital after a long illness on Thursday, September 28. She was born at West Leyden, the daughter of Henry ana1 Anna Ammon Schmoker. Her entire life was spent at West Leyden. After graduating from the West Leyden School she attended the Teachers Training Class in Boonville. Mrs. Kime, a talented musician, studied Piano and Voice, and taught Piano and Voice at her home. She assisted her Father in the operation of the Schmoker General Store, and the Post Office located in the Store at West Leyden. "After Henry Schmoker's death in 1944, she continued to operate the store until entering the hospital last April. Mrs. Kime was afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis, and was an invalid for many years. In spite of-her "affliction, she carried on the operation of her store for many years from a wheel chair. She was the West Leyden Correspondent for the Boonville Herald and the Rome Sentinel. Mrs. Kime was Church organist'and soloist for both the West Leyden Reformed .and the StA Mary's Churches until her health prevented her from playing the organ. -In recognition" of her many years of service to the community of West Leyden, the residents of the area held an Edna Kime Day in May of 1973. The reception was attended by people from far and wide at the West Leyden Community Fire Hall. The Ladies Auxiliary sponsored this event. She had chaired innumerable drives for charitable organizations. Among them being the Heart Association. In addition tolhe churches, she was a life member of Salma Chapter O.E.S. of Boonville. She was united in marriage with Stuart T. Kime on June 15, 1919 at West Leyden. Mr Kime died on March 27, 1952. Surviving are several cous- ins. Born July 28. 1908. in Mohawk. he was the son of Josiah and Kate Twining Baker. He was a graduate of Mornsville Agricultural and Technical College. Mr. Baker married Mildred F. Base. She died in 1945. He married Olive Cros- sway in 1946. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Emily Lewis, Whitesboro, and Mrs. Bernard (Beatrice) Van Valkenburgh, Orangeburg. S.C.; a son, Robert M. Baker, Barneveld; a brother Walter Baker, Payson, Ariz.; a sister. Mrs, Pearl Bates. Glendale, Ariz.; five grandchildren, and six greatgrandchildren. 3788 | Boonville NY Herald - 2/2003 Robert Aloan. 86. a former resident of West Leyden, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2003, at the Loretia Home, Syra- cuse, after a long illness. He was born in Osceola, NY on July 24, 1916, a son of Charles Edison and Alma Thurston Aloan. He graduated from Camden High School in 1933 and attended Oswego Normal School. Bob served in WW II in the Rainbow Division of the Army earning the Bronze Star. On April 3, 1948 he married Margaret Mary Beha of West Ley- den. She passed away in 1989. Bob was a resident of Solvay for many years and retired from Crucible Specialty Metals in 1979 as a machinist. He coached the Solvay Tigers Baseball team for many years and was a member of the Geddes Veterans. Upon his retirement in 1979 he moved to West Leyden where he served as Town of ewis Supervisor for four terms. Bob was also a member of the Boonville Elks Club, Boonville American Le- gion, and VFW. He had also lived at Kortmeiser Village, Boonville and Evergreen Manor, Jamesville, NY. Surviving are his daugh- ters, Linda Davis, Columbus, Claair Aloan, Syracuse, Pamela Fisher, Tully, Elaine Scardon, Marcellus, Audrey Cole, Amboy, Colleen Russell, Syracuse, and Lesa Wilbert, West Leyden; sons, Charles Aloan, West Leyden, and Brian Aloan, Atlanta, GA; a sstepbrother, Richard Aloan, Camden; 18 grand- children and seven great- grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Wilson Aloan in 1976 and a sister, Edith Burnes in 1990. Funeral services were held on Monday, February 10, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street, Boonville. Calling hours were from 2- 5 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday. 3790 | Boonville NY Herald - 2/4/2004 BOONVILLE - Homer C. Andrews, 90, a longtime resident of Erwin Street and husband of Dorothy, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2004 at Sun- set Nursing and Rehabil- itation Center in Boon- ville, where he had been a resident since 2003. Homer was born in the Echo Lake section of the Town of Boonville on December 12, 1913, a son of Albert and Delia Briggs Andrews. He grew up on the Andrews' Homestead farm near Echo Lake and attended rural schools. He was employed by General Cable Co. of Rome during WWII. After that he was employed at Garlock Lumber Co. in Boonville, where he constructed many windows and doors. For a time he was also employed at Comstock Lumber co. in Rome. In May of 1980 he retired after 14 years of employ- ment in the fine finishing department at Boonville Division of Ethan Allen Furniture Co. For many years Homer was also em- ployed as a carpenter in building repair in the Boonville area. He was united in mar- riage with Dorothy Ca- pron on February 10, 1937 in Remsen. Mr. Andrews was a member of the Boonville United Methodist Church, an over 50 year member of Boonville Oriel Mason- ic Lodge F&AM, a former member of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens of Boonville. He was a 25- yeaar member, and had been a lieutenant of the Boonville Fire Company in 1977 he became an honorary member of the department. For many years he great- ly enjoyed the hobby of woodworking and he had constructed many pieces of fine wooden furniture. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a son, Edward G. Andrews passed away on Decem- ber 4, 1990. He is also sur- vived by two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Johnson, Locust Grove, VA., and Brooks- ville, Fl, and Mrs. Erma Grower, Boonville, one brother, Raymond An- drews, North Western; and by many nieces and nephews. He was prede- ceased by brothers Howard in 1978, James Orin in 1988, Frederick in 1992, R. Ernest in 1992, and Charles in 2001, and by sisters, Ida Forte in 1982 and Mildred Duda in 1992. Homer's family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the doctors and staff at Sunset Nursing and Rehavilitation Center and to all of the kind peo- ple that have assisted Homer and Dorothy at their residence. His funeral service was held on Thursday, Janu- ary 29, at 2:30 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, where the Rev- erend William A. Mudge, pastor of the Boonville United Methodist Church, and The Reverent Fr. Donald H. Karlen, who was considered to be a second son by Homer and Dorothy, and pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Boon- ville, officiated. A spring interment will be in Boon- ville Cemetery. He was known as the Rosary Man for the many rosarys he made. He was a member of St. Francis Church of Oneida, St. Bernard's Church of Waterville and St. Anne's of Utica. On March 17, 1958 she was united in mar- riage with Frederick Boyce in Boonvile. Mr. Boyce died on April 11, 1980. Mrs. Boyce moved to Kortehaer Village in 1985. She wa a member of St Joseph's Church, Boon- ville, and a member of the Kortenaer Village Kitchen Band and she greatly en- joye playing bingo. Surviving is one sister,, Mrs. Helen Taslor, Three Mile Bay, a sister-in-law, Sophie Worwa, Utica and nieces, nephews and cousin. She was pede- ceased by a brother, Walter Worwa. He was born in Talcottville Aug. 19, 1918, a son of Walter and Vera A. Wemple Zimmer. Most of his life was spent in the vicin- ity of Port Leyden and Boonville. He attended high school in Boon- ville. For a time he had been employed as a lumberman for Marmon and Rocker. For the past 18 years, Mr. Zimmer had been employed as an operator of heavy equipment for several construc- tion companies. He married Ma- rie Ammon LaPiante May 18, 1952, in Halstedt, Penna. Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Vera Terril- line, Lowville; six daughters, Mrs. Sue Ellen Wastonicz of Her- kimer, Miss Kathleen Zimmer of Utica, Sharon, Jean, Mary Louise, and Bethany Jean, all at home; two step-daughters, Mrs. Garry Langley of Columbus, Ohio, and Mrs. Lester Fallon of Rome; two step sons James and Joseph La- Piante, both of West Leyden; five grandchildren; and one bro- ther, John M. Prior to retiring in 1970, Mr. Mullaney also was employed in the custodial department J S a bus driver for the Lewis County Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) in Glenfield. He was born in Port Leyden on Dec. 9, 1907, son of John and Mary Mullaney. He attended local schools and was self-employed brick mason for many years. Mr. Mullaney married Frances Seiter in 1937. She died in 1945. On Oct. 9, 1948 he married Vella Power Richrdson in st. John the Baptist Church, Syracuse. He formerly lived in Boon- ville and came to Port Leyden in 1953. He was a member of the Boonville Lodge Club, the Miller Brook Fish and Game Club and St. Martin's Church of Port Leyden and was a formerl president of the Boonville Conservationists and Fire Department. Survivors are his wife, three sisters, Mrs. James (Louella) Beha and Miss Gertrude Mul- laney, both of Mohawk, and Mrs. Winifred Wynn of Con- stableville and a brother, William Mullaney of Lyons Falls.
