She was also a member of the Golden Age Club of the Tonawandas. She is survived by her husband, Henry C. Hoefert; one daughter, Mrs. Elwin (Ruby) Oligiati of Tonawanda; two sons, Karl F. of Kenmore and Lynn W. of the U. S. Army; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Schumacker of North Tonawanda and Mrs. Egbert Everett of Pembrook. Amherst; six sisters, Irene Zimmerman, Edith Wolter, Frances Johnson, Gertrude Feist, Esther Mason, all of Buffalo and Ruth Bruenig of Wisconsin; brother of the late Arthur Moll and Mildred Zeller, also survived by many nieces and nephews. 412 | 19 August 1909 Tonawanda News Martinsville Resident Dies Suddenly Mrs. Minnie Caroline Frieling, 63 years old, died suddenly at her home on the Lockport road in Martinsville Wednesday morning. She was stricken with apoplexy while in her home and, before Dr. Jacob E. Helwig, who had been hurriedly called, arrived, she expired. Mrs. Frieling had been in poor health for some time. She is survived by four sons and two daughters, all of the Tonawandas. They are Mrs. Mary Kopp, Amelia, William, Ernest, Fred and Herman Frieling. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the house and a half hour later from St. Paul's church, the Rev. Phillip Laux officiating. He is survived by his wife, Emma, nee Schnell; a daughter, Dorothy, at home; four brothers, August, Albert, Edgar Stolzenburg and Clarence Miller, and five sisters, Mrs. Sophia Radoff, Mrs. Rose Hoffmeister, Mrs. Herman Burns and Miss Anna Stolzenburg of Lockport and Mrs. Charles Wurl of North Tonawanda. GI Dies On Front Line of Korean War A North Tonawanda veteran with four years of service in World War II became the fourth man from the Twin Cities killed in action in the Korean conflict. He is Pfc. Kenneth H. Glawf, 34, husband of Mrs. Shirley Glawf of 311 Bryant St. and son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Glawf of 1711 Ruie Rd. A Department of Defense telegram received by his wife June 14 reported his death on June 3 while serving with the 27th Infantry, Wolfhound Regiment, in Korea. The telegram gave no details. Pfc. Glawf earned a sergeant's rating in his combat infantry service in World War II. He held the combat infantryman's badge or 21-months of overseas duty and the European Theater ribbon with three stars. He was sent to Korea in March. His latest letters home described the fierceness of the fighting. He wrote "things are rough the smell is terrible because of the many bodies of dead Communist soldiers unburied they attack with disregard of weapons and often try to overcome us in hand-to-hand combat without rifles." Williams, 40 years old, one of the best known residents of the town of Wheatfield, died last night at his home on the Ward road, St. Johnsburg. His death followed a heart attack, with which he was stricken yesterday morning. Mr. Williams was born in North Tonawanda 40 years ago and had been a resident of Wheatfield for the last 30 years. He had been clerk of the town for the past ten years. He was a member of the St. Johnsburg Fire Department. He was a Democrat politically.
