Harmon, prominent Buffalo businessman, who died in his home, 770 Lafayette Avenue, following an illness of eight weeks. He was 64 years old. The Rev. Ralph B. Born In New York City, Mr. Harmon came to Buffalo 35 years ago and founded the H. O. mills. Several years later he became president of the Buffalo Cereal Company, a po sition he held until 1918, when the company was sold to the Armour interests. At the time of his death, Mr. Harmon was president of the E. P. Sharp Trolley Wheel Company in Mechanic Street and vice-president of Edward N Wilkes & Co., investment securities firm. Schell, 66, of 232 Ideal St., locomotive engineer for the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad since 1912, died yesterday at Mercy Hospital after three months illness. Connected with the railroad since 1905, Mr. Schell started as a fireman and, following his promotion to engineer, alternated on fast freight and passenger runs. Born at Ft. Winiski, la., he lived in Buffalo since the year he joined the railroad. Mr. Schell was a member of F. B. Griffith Division of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Surviving are his wife, Ida Buckman Schell; two sons, Gordon and Anthony; three daughters, Mildred and Elinor Schell and Mrs. Laura Loichinger; a brother, Joseph; three grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Drewes of this city, was gowned in burgundy chiffon velvet, a white turban and a bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums. Miss Margaret Kurkhampt, maid of honor, wore green velvet with a white turban and bronze chrysanthemums. Mrs. Adeline Robinson, bridesmaid, wore blue chiffon velvet with a silver turban and carried rust colored chrysan themums. Arnold Drewes was best man, and the ushers were Milford Robinson and Benjamin Grawe. A reception for 50 guests followed at the home of the bride. Mrs. Schuman was attired in brown velvet and the bridegrooms mother wore black satin. Both wore corsages of talisman roses. 4463 | Buffalo NY Courier Express - 11/6/1950 Two men were killed in automobile accidents outside the city yesterday One of the victims died when his machine was struck by a freight en- gine in Cheektowaga. The other, a pedestrian, was injured fatally in De- pew. The men who lost their lives in the accidents about two miles apart were Frederick Buehl, Jr., 33, of East Main St., East Aurora, and Arthur Jack, about 55, a roomer at 5521 Transit Rd., Depew. Buehl met death shortly before 3 o'clock yesterday morning when his auto was struck by a New York Central Lines locomotive on the Dick Rd. crossing in Cheektowaga. His machine was demolished when it was hurled into a gully beside the railroad tracks. Buehl was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Walter L. Sydoriak, 4289 Union Rd. Medical Examiner Rocco N. De- Dominicis said the motorist suffered a crushed chest and other injuries. He issued a certificate of accidental death. Dr. DeDominicis said the vic- tim's family lives in Canandaigua. Lieut. Bernard Kistowski of the Cheektowaga police said the engineer of the easthound freight was J. J. Kerwin, 43 Wellington Rd.. Buffalo. The engineer told the officer he did not see the automobile until after the collision. Dies in Hospital Jack died in Sisters Hospital at 9.05 o'clock last night about two hours after he was struck in Transit Rd. at Ellicott Rd., Depew. Doctors said he suffered fractures of the skull, ribs, left ankle and wrist and multiple lacerations. Dr. Dc- Dominicis is investigating. Sgt. Louis Baldo and Patrolman Edmund Markus of Depew said Rob- ert C. Keicher, 19, of 35 Pleasant Ave., Lancaster, was the driver of the car. George Brown, 73, of the-Mon- roe Hotel, 490 Pearl St., killed instantly in Grant near Lafayette. Mrs. Lena May Sharlau, 43, of 1347 Michigan Ave., Niagara Falls, fatally injured In the River Rd, near Edgar Ave^ Town of Tonawanda. Crash Victim Dies In addition to these traffic fatalities. Louis G. Brown, 35, of Coup- Ion Court, Snyder, died In Emergency Hospital of Injuries received early yesterday morning when his auto crashed against a railroad abutment at Bailey and Kerns. The deaths of Boehner and Brown raised Buffalo's 1943 traffic toll to 81, compared with S3 for all 1942. Boehner was killed shortly after 6 o'clock last night as Inspector Cronin, who was on duty at the time, was driving north in Bailey* in a police car assigned to him. He waa bound home for dinner, he said, and was passing the Cohen scrap metal yard at 909 Bailey, when Boehner started to cross the avenue from east to west. In a report to the Broadway station, Cronin, who is a former police commissioner, reported he was driving 20 to 25 miles an hour and did not see Boehner. a watch* man at the Cohen yards. The inspector summoned an Emergency Hospital ambulance hut the victim was dead by the time it arrived. Two Autos Involved Brown's death involved two autoe. police of the West Delavan Ave. station reported. Crossing Grant St.. Brown walked against the right rear fender of a machine operated by Lawrence C. Near, 18, of 84 May St., and was knocked down. Then he was run over by another car driven by Andrea Spezio, 52, of 98 Rees St., investigators reported. Mrs. Shariau was killed about 8.30 o'clock while walking in the River Road by a car driven by Arthur H. White of 9S 17th St., Buffalo, according to Town of T oris wan da police. Jacob Kanlewski, 60, of 490 Amherst St.. also was seriously hurt when he was hit by a cay operated by Raymond Kauffman, 122 Carl St., in front of the General Drop Forge Co., 1738 Elmwood Ave. Kaniewaki was taken to General Hospital suffering meven head injuries and complete shock. Soldier on Furlough Hart Pvt. Raymond D. Cady, 398 Emsiie St., home on furlough from Camp Adair, Ore., was taken to Meyer Memorial Hospital yesterday suffering a severe head injury after the auto in which he was riding went over a curb and hit a tree in East Delavan near Cambridge. Philip Blessing, 25, same address, a passenger in Cady's car, received lacerations on the face and shock. Bluckhorn, 53, died early today at his h o me 578 Delaware Street, the victim of a heart attack. He was stricken at 3 o ' c l o c k this morning. H i s death followed a few h o u rs later. A life - long r e s i d e n t , Mr. Bluckhorn w as well known and highly respected in the Tonawandas. A p - pointed superin- tendent of public works on January 4, 1932, he had served continuously since. He was to have been reappointed by the Common Council at its first meeting next month. For 23 years, prior to his appointment to the office, he was employed as a millwright in the lumber mill formerly operated on Oliver Street by the late W. G. Palmer. Mr. Bluckhorn was a member of the Delaware Hose Company, the Eldredge Bicycle Club, Tonawanda Lodge 247, F. & A. M., and the Roosevelt Beach Boat Club at Wilson, where he maintained a summer cottage. Surviving are his wife, Irene; a sister, Mrs. Arthur Beisiegel of Tonawanda, and two brothers, John of Tonawanda and Fred of Detroit. The city hall was closed for the afternoon to permit city officials and employes to attend the rites.
