4662 | Buffalo NY Courier Express - 9/7/1930 AT THE AGE of 22, Charles C. "^ Bewley, president of Charles Bewley Realtors, Inc., is among the outstanding realtors of Lockport. He is considered one of the most promising younger business men In his home town. Mr. Bewley was born in Lockport where he has always resided. He received his education at the public schools there, and Rochester Business Institute of which he is a graduate. On his return to Lockport he complied with the desire of his father, Richard Bewley, that he become a farmer. But one year on the farm was enough for the enterprising Mr. Bewley. He wasn't meant to be a farmer, and he knew i t So in 1928, he opened real estate and Insurance offices. He chose the real estate as a field for his business activities because of his complete familiarity with Lockport and its vicinity and his interest in the development of the locality that always has been his home. In both his real estate and insurance business, Mr. Bewley derives great enjoyment from his contacts with his customers. Another phase of his work in which he is intensely Interested is the remodeling of some-of Lockport's fine old houses into apartments. Mr. Bewley also Is secretary and general manager of the Bewley Holding Corporation. \b0 Boating and tennis are his favorite sports. His speedboat is his hobby; and he finds great exhilaration in racing on the Niagara River. The restfulness of a broad expanse of water combined with the thrilling speed and sudden turns of the boat render speedboating irresistibly fascinating, in Mr. Bewley/s opinion. He enjoys every aspect of boating even to repairing the motor. Being endowed with a natural mechanical bent, he can make* all necessary repairs. He sometimes passes hours tinkering with the engine of his boat; but if, when he has finished, the motor Is "ship shape," he considers the time well spent. Tennis long has been among his recreations; for there is a tennis court at his father's home And Mr. Bewley literally grew up playing the game. Before he took up boating, aviation was his hobby; and he began a course of instruction in piloting. At present, his speedboat offers him thrills enough; but it is probable that he soon will pilot his own plane. Hunting and fishing also are among Mr. Bewley's pastimes. He thoroughly enjoys the woods, and twice every year, he goes to the Adirondacks in quest of bass and deer. Several fine Eair of antlers attest his skill as a unter. Mr. Bewley is a member of the Olcott Yacht Club. He resides at the Bewley home on Lakewood avenue, Lockport. | BEWLEY, Charles Clifford (I143175)
