5151 Claude O. "Bud" Dietz passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2020. Born in Lockport on July 7, 1929, he was the son of the late Oliver and Hazel Claude Dietz. Bud served in the US Army in 1951 during the Korean Conflict. He retired from GM Powertrain in Tonawanda in 1989, after working for 35 years in security. Bud is predeceased by his wife, Suzanne (Easton) Dietz, who passed away on May 26, 2014; and his sons, Michael and Christopher; his daughter, Cynthia; and his sister, Gloria Chaffee. Bud is survived by his daughters, Paula (Barry) Jones and Sheryl (Peter) Underhill; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. 5152 Claude W. Bullard 89 of Lockport, NY husband of Vera (Bassler) Bullard entered into rest on Monday September 4, 2017 at home. Born on April 03, 1927 in Newfane, NY to the late Claude G. and Emma (Miller) Bullard. He attended Newfane Schools. Claude served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947.He worked for Simonds Saw and Steel for 34 years retiring in 1982. Claude married Vera H. Bassler on July 15, 1950 and he was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 873. Surviving is his wife Vera; his daughter’s Susan (Richard) McKie and Nancy Bartow; Grandchildren Stephen (Christine) McKie, Christopher (Jennifer) McKie, Roslyn (Ryan) Rinaldo and Amber Bartow also his great grandchildren Megan and Madison McKie, Emma, Ben and Lily Mckie, William and Evelyn Rinaldo. 5153 CLAUDETTE MARIE LEMIEUX, age 50 of the Town of Lockport, NY, was called to her heavenly home on August 12, 2020 at the Buffalo General Medical Center. Born in North Tonawanda, NY on February 19, 1970; daughter of Robert and Martha (Grawe) Darlak. Claudette earned her Masters Degree in teaching, and was employed as a Kindergarten teacher, in the Starpoint Central School District. She attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda, her number "1" hobby was watching her kids play their many sports games and tournaments, enjoyed coaching softball, and the quality time spent with family while traveling, shopping and camping.
Survivors include her loving husband, Marlin Andre Lemieux. They were married April 3, 1993; three children, Dalton (Christina) Lemieux, Hunter Lemieux and Lynnea Lemieux; Her mother "Marty"; a sister, Geanette (Joel) Prohaska; brother, Glen (Jody) Darlak; and many dear friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Robert Darlak.
Claudette was sometimes called Mama Claud by her many extra kids (friends of her children, players on teams, etc.) and Mayor, because you never went anywhere without running into someone who knew her.

5154 Claudia B. Kujawa, nee Britt, of Medina, passed away on January 27, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital after a valiant fight with cancer.

Claudia was born in Medina, June 19, 1941, the only child of Claude Seth and Ruth Pearl (Swab) Britt. She graduated salutatorian from Albion High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of Buffalo.

From 1963-65, Claudia worked at Cornell Aeronautical Laboratories, a contractor for NASA. She was employed as a Manager in Telecommunications by Eastman Kodak Company from 1966-92. Having been outsourced, she took an early retirement from Eastman Kodak Company to raise Andrea, her late in-life child. She was a single parent, a loving and nurturing mother. She was a member of Pi Mu Epsilon Fraternity, National Honorary Mathematics Fraternity.

Claudia volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader, at Towne Elementary School, and at a local food bank. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, travel, reading, crossword puzzles, gambling and spending time with friends. She was a member of the Middleport and Johnson Creek Senior Citizens groups.

Survivors include her daughter, Andrea; several nieces and nephews including Joseph (Barbara) Kujawa. She was predeceased by Andrea’s father, James Kujawa.

A graveside committal service will be held in the spring at the Britt family plot in Millville Cemetery where she will be interred with her parents.

Memorials may be made to any local animal shelters, Hospice of Orleans County or Knights-Kaderli Memorial Fund.

5155 Claudia Broderick passed away quietly in her sleep on June 13th.
Originally from Niagara Falls she is survived by her husband John, her children Darla Broderick-Breit (Roger), Patti Sanders (Errol), James (Desiree), David and Christin Fenn (Mike). Her grandchildren Katie and Roger Jr. Breit, Jonathen Broderick, Kaitlyn and Haley Broderick and numerous nieces and nephews.
A short ceremony will be held at Niagara Falls Memorial Cemetery on Military Road, Lewiston, NY at 12 PM on Saturday, July 20th, 2024. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to your favorite charity

5156 Claudia J. Herbold of Sanborn, NY, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019, at Niagara Hospice House, Lockport,  NY.  She was born in Buffalo, NY on June 25, 1952, a daughter of the late Robert and  Norma Jean [Loos]  Wicks.
Claudia graduated from Sweet Home High School. She was employed with Ridge Road Express, Mac's Auto Parts and Buffalo Granite.
She loved making quilts and reading.
Claudia is survived by her children Thomas L.(Jennifer) and Timothy C.(Leah) Wrate,  Tami J. (Philip) Curione and Lori (Jeff) Olsen, seven grandchildren Austin, Claudia, Hannah, Bo, Owen, Collin and Luca,  a brother, William (Nancy) Wicks, two sisters, Kimberly (David) Naus and Kathy (Drew) Olds, her step mother Orrah Wicks and her long time companion William Parkhill and his children Billy and Brian, niece of  John (late Shirley) Michno and her former husband Leonard Wrate. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was the sister of the late Bobby Wicks.
Private funeral services will be held at the wishes of her family.

SOOS STEPHEN SOOS, born Jan. 29, 1930 in Hungary went home to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at the age of 79 after a long battle with heart disease. He was the loving and beloved husband of Antoinette Helen (Dayson) for 33 years. Stepfather of Thomas J. White (deceased) and Laura Kastrinos. Stepgrandfather of four. He was the beloved son of Stephen and Esther Soos (both deceased). Brother of Helen, Esther and Yoland. Loving uncle, cousin and friend of many in Hungary. Brother-in-law of Joseph and Jacquelyn Kammerer. Loving uncle of Sandra, Michael, Denise, Danny and Fr. Joseph Kammerer (all of CA.). Cousin and friend of many. Stephen retired from Weber Gage, a division of L.S. Starrett after 38 years of service. He loved to cook, especially crepes, travel and garden. "Sherry" (nee Kornaker)
Age 83, passed away peacefully under the care of hospice on Sunday, March 05, 2023 at her home in Mesa, Arizona. She was born in North Tonawanda on September 09, 1939 to Joseph and Marie Kornaker. Sherry was a skilled roller skater and during her teen and preteen years could often be found at local rinks. She worked in the hours after school at Jones Florist on Payne Avenue where she developed her affinity for working with her hands and a lasting fondness for Mrs. Meyers, the proprietor. After graduating from North Tonawanda High School in 1957 where she was a proud member of the cheer leading squad, she received a teaching degree at Buffalo State College. She taught in various area schools for a brief time before deciding, on a whim, to visit friends in New York City. She ended up staying and working there where she met and married her future husband, Francis (Frank) Clifford, in 1963. Frank and Sherry lived and raised a family in various parts of the Country before settling in Arizona in the mid 90's. Sherry enjoyed reading and crocheting, both often accomplished with her beloved cat, Eko, at her side. She crocheted whatever could be crocheted or held together with crochet and kept everyone she knew supplied with pot holders and oven towels. Sherry will be remembered by family and friends for her quirky sense of humor, coupon cutting and thriftiness, and amazing fortitude in facing illness and loss. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Clifford; daughter, Colleen Clifford and son, Jeremiah Clifford. Sherry is survived by her sons, Sean Clifford and Daniel Clifford; sister, Joanne (William) Choboy; brother, David (Janine) Kornaker; several cousins, including Mary Beth(Lew) McCaw and Jamie (Richard) Domis; and many nieces and nephews.

5161 Clifford A. "Pike" Gauda 83 of Newfane, NY husband of Audrey (Fox) Gauda entered into rest at home on Friday October 6, 2017. Born in North Tonawanda on August 28, 1934 to the late Howard and Marion Gauda. Pike served in the U.S Navy from 1952-1956. He was a long time member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion belonging for 65 years. Pike retired from Chemical Leaman after 25 years. After a brief retirement her joined Ridge Road Express working for 12 year. He enjoyed speding time with his growing family. Surviving is his loving wife of 64 years, Audrey; a son Randy; His granddaughters Destinee (Matt) Henderson, Katie and Bailey; four great granchildren William, Bentley, Kellan and Maggie. 5162 Clifford D. Miller Sr. of Olcott, NY, beloved husband of Beverly Lennert Miller entered into rest on Thursday, February 7, 2019 in the Niagara Hospice House. He was born in Newfane, NY on November 6, 1923, the son of the late Friedrick and Mabel Buckley Miller. Cliff served 2 1/2 years in the U.S. Army in Europe during WWII and he was one of the founding members of the National Guard, Willow St. Armory, Lockport, NY. He enjoyed stock car racing, working and was a member of the Olcott Fire Co. for 76 years. Cliff was the owner and operator of Clifford D. Miller Cemetery Memorials. LOCKPORT - Clifford G. Sparrer 83, a retired employee of the former Upson Co., died Wednesday (Dec. 22, 1993) in Lockport Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
A Davison Road resident, Sparrer was a native of the Town of Royaton.
Survivors include his wife, the former Frances Costello; a son Clifford J. of Buffalo; a daughter, Marjorie Moore of Middleport; a sister, Florence Miller; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.

5164 Clifford William Hummel, “Servant of the Lord”age 70, of Rochester, NY formerly of North Tonawanda. Cliff peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on January 15th, 2018. He is now with his Lord and Savior. Clifford was born on January 27, 1947 in Bristol, CT. Son of Henry and Elsie (Litke) Hummel. Husband of Lynne Hummel. Father of Todd, Chris and Lori Hummel. Grandfather to Jaxon, Jordan and Anna Hummel. Brother of Edith Frechette, Etta Robillard, Elaine Morey, and Erma Kravecs. Beloved Brother-in-law, Uncle to many, Principal to thousands and Teacher to many more.
Cliff grew up in Terryville, CT. He participated in many sports including baseball, football, swimming and track. He was very active in the Boy Scouts and achieved the goal of becoming an Eagle Scout. 
Cliff started his life of servanthood by attending Concordia College (Bronxville and River Forest) graduating in 1970 with a degree in Education. Christian Education was His Business…He had a huge heart for Christian education. Cliff married his partner in love and service Lynne (Binkley) on August 1st, 1970. He began his teaching career at Martin Luther Christian School in New Jersey. Cliff and Lynne continued their journey at St. Matthew Lutheran Church and School in North Tonawanda, New York. While at St. Matthew, Cliff served as a teacher for many years and eventually became Principal. The servant journey continued at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Hilton, New York where he served as Principal. Cliff’s heart for service did not end with retirement. He continued to serve his Lord in any and every capacity he could until his final days.
Cliff had a lifelong passion for sports. He played, coached and officiated for many years impacting the lives of all he interacted with along the way. Cliff loved his grandchildren, watching them play and perform, golfing with his boys, wood working, gardening, and finding garage sale treasures with Lynne.
A short memorial service will take place at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hilton, NY on Thursday January 18th at 11am for those in the Rochester area.

5167 Clinton (Sam) Hermanson
SANBORN - Clinton (Sam) Hermanson, 61, of 5791 Buffalo St., former Niagara County highway superintendent, died today (April 5, 1979) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda, after an apparent heart attack. He was a member of a pioneer Sanborn family and was the son of the late LeRoy and Helen Sanborn Hermanson. He had served during World War II with the U.S. Army in the Pacific and had been employed by the Niagara County Highway Department since 1945. He retired as highway superintendent in 1977 and had served as the second Niagara County fire coordinator from 1964 until 1969. He was a life member of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. and had served as chief from 1958 to 1959. He was president of the fire company in 1962 and had served for many years as band manager. He was a member of the Western New York Fire Chief's Association, the Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association, and the Niagara County Police and Judges Association and the Niagara and Erie County Planning Board, and was past commander of the Sanborn American Legion Post 969.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda Strasburg Hermanson; two brothers, Charles W. Hermanson of Sanborn and Clair D. Hermanson of Watkins Glen, N.Y.; one sister, Mrs. Howard (Irene) Carico of Hubert, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Gordon L. Hermanson.
Funeral services will be held at the Rhoney Funeral Home, Saturday at 1 p.m.. with the Rev. Kenneth E. Traxler officiating. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery. Friends may call from 8 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Friday. The family said contributions to the Sanborn United Methodist Church will be acceptable as tributes. Members of the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. will conduct memorial services Friday at 7 p.m. and members of the Sanborn American Legion Post 969 will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

5168 Clinton Brockway, 95, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020, at his residence in Niagara Falls. Born in Brookville, PA, he was the son of the late Millard and Elsie (Thompson) Brockway; and husband of the late Petrina “Pat” Brockway, whom he married on May 15, 1948 at the former Our Lady of the Rosary Church.
Cliff moved to Niagara Falls as a teenager and attended local schools. He enlisted into the United States Army during World War II on September 13, 1943, and served overseas for fourteen months in England and France in the European Theater of Operations, and eight months on Okinawa in the Pacific until his honorable discharge on March 11, 1946. He continued to serve his country in the National Guard until his second honorable discharge on March 10, 1949.
Mr. Brockway was employed as an Electro-Mechanical Technician at Bell Aircraft for many years prior to his retirement. He was also a gifted photographer and owned and operated B & W Photography.
Cliff was a 20 year member of the New York Professional Photography Association. He competed in many roller-skating competitions with his wife and also received many awards for his 1927 Ford Model T which he restored. Mr. Brockway was a talented craftsman and enjoyed making and repairing almost anything. He also took great pride in handcrafting furniture, especially his living room pieces and grandfather clocks.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Brockway was predeceased by his son David (Mary) Brockway. He is survived by his granddaughter, Sherry (Zech) Brockway-VanDermeer; his great-grandson, Benjamin, and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank (Rose) Micale, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 18 from 2 – 5 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Clinton’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 A.M. in St. Vincent De Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1044 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. to William F. Brandis, and had been
a resident of -Franklin Springs since
then. Mr. Brandis died February
16, 1935.
Mrs. Brandiis was a member of
the Stone Presbyterian Church and
its Morrill Bible Class.
She leaves two sons, Durwood F.
and William G., both of Franklin

Mr. and Mrs. Becraft
went to reside in the west 44 years

died Sunday, October 2, in
Faxton Hospital after a long
illness.
He was born in Franklin
Springs, March 29, 1906, son
of William F. and Alice M.
Greene Brandis. He was
educated in Clinton schools
and in Clinton, September 24,
1927, he married Elizabeth R.
Timian. The couple have
always resided in Franklin
Springs. For many years, Mr.
Brandis was a self-employed
dairy and hop farmer, and for
over 20 years, was employed
by the Town of Kirkland
Highway Department,
retiring in 1968. He was a
member of Clinton Stone
Presbyterian Church and the
Men's Club of the Church,
and the Pioneers of America.
Besides his wife, he is
survived by one son, William
F. Brandis of Lacey.
Washington, two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, October 5, from
the Owens Funeral Home,
desiring may contribute
the Heart Fund.

Everett W. Smith. Sr., 31. of
304-1/2 N. Jay Street, Rome, was
killed Thursday, Nov. 15, when
his^car collided with the tractor
part of a tractor-trailer on the
Rome-Oriskany Road, two miles
east of Stanwix.
The victim, who was Oneida
County's 25th traffic fatality this
year, was alone in his 1949 twodoor
sedan, as it headed east towards
Oriskany about 11:00 p.m.
Thursday night. Deputy Sheriffs
Donald ,Tulley and Stanley Kolasz
said the mishap with the vehicle
driven by Thomas Campbell, 37,
of 329 Middler Ave., Syracuse, occurred
on an upgrade and that
the Smith car was on the wrong
side of the road.
According to their report, the
victim's auto crossed ihe highway
and struck the tractor-truck just
back of" the cab towards the rear
wheels, then continued past the
point of impact 217 feet, and In

so doing recrossed the highway.
It stopped on the."road's south
shoulder. The 'westbound truck
went 191 feet following" the collision.
Its drive shaft was found
50 feet from the point-of impact
and rear wheels, also torn loose,
were found 134 feet from the same
spot
Campbell, who' was driving a
1955 machine belonging to General
Expressway, Syracuse, was taken
to Rome Hospital, where he was
reported in good condition.
Mr. Smith was born in Oriskany
on Feb. 5, 1925, son of William
and Theresa Beasock Smith. He
was educated in Oriskany Central
School and served during World
War H in. France and Wales for

two and a half years.
On September 6, 1947 in St
Peter's Church in Oriskany, he
married the former ElnoraA. Colp,
who survives. He had resided in
Oriskany, where he was employed
by the Oriskany Malleable Iron
Works since 1941, and moved to
Rome four years ago. He was a
member of St. Peter's Episcopal
Church in Oriskany.
Surviving besides his wife are
his parents in Oriskany, and his
grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Frank

Beasock. North Tonawanda, N. Y.;
two sons, Charles E. and Everett
W. Smith. Jr.. at home; three sisters.

where he had been confined
three weeks, on Saturday afternoon.
He was born in Franklin Springs
a son of William and Harriet Hart
Brandis, August 17, 1859, and married
Alice M. Greene, also Of that
community January 6, 1885. Mr.
Brandis conducted a meat business
for 30 years and later operated
a farm. He was a member
of the Stone Presbyterian Church
and of its Men's Club.
Surviving besides his wife, are
two sons, Durward F. Brandis and
William G. Brandis, both of
Franklin Springs; two brothers,
Albert Brandis, Deansboro, and
George Brandis, of Ogden, Utah;
two sisters, Mrs. Harriet Platte,
and Mrs. Cora Angell, St. Louis,
Mo.; three grandsons, Durward H.
Brandis, Hanover, N. H., Fay W.
Brandis, Franklin Springs, and
Donald Sill, of Frankllnvllle.
The funeral was held from his
late home Tuesday afternoon. Rev.
Harold W. Wylle, pastor of the
Stone Presbyterian Church, officiated.

Brandis at Brookfield, July 4. 1885,
and for 40 years they had lived
in their present home. Mrs. Brandis
was a member of the Presbyterian
Church.
The deceased Is survived by
three daughters, Mrs. Charles
Griffin. College Hill; Mrs. Bert.
Whaley, Deansboro, and Mrs. Raymond
Dojan, Oriskahy Falls; one
son. Hubbard H. Brandis, Deansboro:

Mary Helen Smith in Newton
Centre, Mass.
Mr. Birge is survived, besides
bis wife, by a twin brother, Walter

Durward Howe Brandis, a native
of Clinton, died Monday,
May 18, at Sequoia Hospital in
Redwood City, California, following
a heart attack. He was
48.
Mr. Brandis, the son of Mr.
and- Mrs. Durward F. Brandis
of Clinton, lived at 950 Plesanthill
road, Redwood City, for the
past eight years. He had moved
there from San Mateo, Calif.,
and was Supervisor of Training
Aids and Technical Instructor
at United Air Lines. He was a
pilot during World War II.
Mr. Brandis is survived by bis
wife, the former Patricia Anne
Thatch, and two sons, Durward
Porter and Scott Thatch, all of
Redwood City; his parents in
Clinton; and a brother, Fay William
Brandis of Smithtown.
Memorial services were held
Thursday, May 21, at the Woodside
Road Community Methodist
Church, with the Rev. D.

where a solemn requiem high

died Friday, August 4, in a Rome
hospital aftera six weeks' illness.
He was 83.
A native of Watertown, he was
the son of William and Jennie
Center Jessmore. In 1900 he married
Rosella Evans, who died last
March.
Surviving are five daughters,
among them Mrs. Mildred Timian
and Gladys Irene Jessmore, of
Syracuse, a son Crandall, of Utica,
and a stepson, Roy Davey, Brimfield

Funeral services were held on
Sunday afternoon with burial in

was learned that Mildred Brandis
Sill had passed away at *St.
Elizabeth's Hospital after a brief
illness. Mrs. Sill was'spending the
summer with her parents Mr. and

Springs, which had been her
custom since her marriage.
Mrs. Sill was born in Franklin
Springs March 2, 1895, and was a
young woman possessed of unusual
charm and character. She attended
Clinton High School and
was a member of the Presbyterian
Church in this village. On Christmas
eve, 1919, she was united in
marriage with Claude C. Sill and
since that time had resided in Billings,
Mont., returning here for a
visit on several occasions.

she leaves a son, Donald, aged'6,

morning, Mrs. Blrge had not complained-

Tuesday morning she was found

Mrs. Birge was born In Clinton,
August 4, 1855, a daughter of the
late George and Jane Endsworth.
Bradley and spent all her life
here. She attended Clinton Liberal
Institute and in 1878 was married
to John Birge who died a number
of years ago. She was a member
of .the Presbyterian . Church and
Grace Chapter, O.E.S. Surviving
are two sons, Walter S. Birge of
Clinton, and Wallace W. Birge of
New York City; a brother, George
Bradley of Whitesboro and two
grandchildren, Claire and Robert
Birge of this village.
The funeral was held this
(Thursday) afternoon at her late
home, Rev. Harold W. Wylie of-
ficiating. Burial was made in Sun-

American Van Lines.
He was a member of St.

Local 182 and was

of Batavia, has been engaged by
the widow to close the estate of Pierson
E. Tooker, formerly of Batavia
and before his death station agent at
Long wood. Tooker was 54 years old
and besides his wife, is survived by
eight children. The chie/ trouble
will be to realize on Mr. Tooker's
estate, which is all personal property,
in the shape of high-powered rifles
and revolvers, of which he had 175
at the time of his death. There are
75 revolvers. There are modern rifles
that will kill. at a distance of over
a mile and fine 44 caliber Colt revolvers.
It is estimated that the arms
are worth over $2,000. while Tooker
left his family almost penniless.
Tooker bad a mania for collecting
firearms. All were kept In perfec;
condition, oiled and polished and a
record kept In a book of the condition
of the arms. He was once arrested
on suspicion that he had stolen the
large supply of new firearms and, after
the case against him was dropped,
he brought suit for defamation of
character and was awarded a verdict
of $1,500. Too_ker was an expert
telegrapher and before going to Longwood
had been station agent at North
Le Roy.

Friend^ of HersoH E. Tooker,
a Former Resident,
Will Be Surprised to
Learn of His Arrest on
Serious Charge.
A former resident of this city. Pierson
E. Tooker, familiarly known here as
"Birdie" Tooker, has been engaged In
car robbery operations on a large scale
at Longwood near Corfu. Tooker was
placed under arrest on Tuesday afler
noon on a charge, of robbing the cars
of the New. York Central railroad.
Enough miscellaneous material was
found on ;his farm to stock a department
store. The railroad detectives
searched the Tooker premises and
found cases of stationery, boots and
shoes, a large number of rifles, shot
guns and revolvers, perfumery, soaps
and a large amount of miscellaneous
merchandise. There was also found a
number of car seals and a Sealer and
the railway officials are of the opinion
that Tooker broke open the cars ami
after taking what suited his fancy resealed,
the cars again.
Tooker is. 45 years old and was born
in this city, living at the corrner ot
Fairfield Avenue and Tenth Street the
greater part of his life, He was a telegraph
operator and for a time worked
In the employment of the Michigan
Central railroad on the Canadian side
of the river. He was also employed as
an operator at the Falls Street station
of the New York Central railroad: As
near as can he ascertained. he removed
from this city about ten years ago. He
has been in the employment of the
New York C e n t r a l a t Longwood for the
past six years. His friends in this city
will be greatly surprised to learn ot his
thievng proclivities.

5193 Clyde R. Kroening 74, of Sanborn, NY, died Saturday February 5, 2005, in Buffalo General Hospital after a brief illness.
He was a life long resident of the Town of Lewiston, born on April 3, 1930, the son of William and Ella [ DeVantier ] Kroening, where he attended local schools. He had operated the family dairy farm for most of his life, he also was a heavy equipment operator and would work for area contractors.
He was a member of the Agriculture Stabilization Committee of Niagara County for several years. Clyde was an exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Company and had also served as a Town Constable for the Town of Lewiston for many years.
He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the former Sanborn Bowling League. Clyde was an avid golfer, and would winter in Florida, during which time he would work at the Disney World Golf Pro Shop, and as a Tee Off starter for the course.
He was predeceased by his first wife Maurine Bruss Kroening who died in 1986.
Surviving is his wife of 15 years, Linda G. [ Peck ] Kroening; a daughter, Linda Bonner, of Niagara Falls, Ont.; a son Russell Kroening, of Belham, TX; a sister, JoAnn [ Delbert ] Pfohl, of Sanborn; a nephew, Mark Pfohl. He was the brother of the late Helen Schimschack.
The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, SANBORN, 5893 Hoover Road, from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM, Wednesday. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 AM, at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, with the Rev. Bruce R. Gamache, officiating. Burial will be in the St. James Lutheran Cemetery.
The Sanborn Fire Co. will conduct memorial services Wednesday at 8 PM, at the funeral home.

5194 Cody J. Hetherly passed away May 6, 2018. Born October 17, 1991 in Lockport, he is the son of Jeffrey (Deana) Hetherly and Deborah (Guokas) Hetherly.
Cody worked for three years for Meridian LLC and enjoyed playing video games, hiking, being outdoors, traveling, and especially enjoyed being with his family and friends.
Besides his parents, Cody is also survived by his grandparents, Shirley "Nanee" Hetherly, Gary (Linda) Hetherly, John (Kathy) Guokas; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Pastor and Mrs. Edgar J. Buerg-
er celebrated their 40th wedding
anniversary in a mest enjoyable
manner on Sunday, July 10. Act-
ual date of their anniversary was
July 7, at which time the Ladies'
Aid, having their annual picnic-
dinner, honored the celebrants
with an anniversary cake, baked by
Mrs. Victor Fleishman and singing
greeting to them.
The celebration began on Sun-
day with a festive dinner in the
St. Paul's Church parlors, prepary|
ed by Mrs. John Schumacher, and
assisted by Mrs. Walter Sick and
Mrs. Otto Sick. The celebrants
were surrounded by all but one of
their children and their families.
Lieutenant Commander and Mrs.
Robert P. Buerger and daughters,
Paula and Cynthia, who recently
completed a tour of duty at thai
naval base in Corpus Christi, Tex.,
and is en route to a new Assign-
ment at the Boston Navy Yard,
where he will be aboard the USS
Carrier Wasp, arrived on Satur-
day, as did Mr. and 'Mrs. Lee D.
Morehouse and children, Gary
Mark, Criag and Amy, from Shar-
on, Pa., and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Ploetz, and daughter Sandra and
Barbara, from West Valley, N. Y.
All these were at the table, togeth-
er with sisters of Pastor Buerger,
Mrs. Ted Berymark and her hus-
band, and Mrs. Robert Bleasdale,
and her daughter, Mrs. Stanley Mo-
lenda and daughter Pamela, all of
Buffalo, N. Y., and Mrs. Buerger's
brother, Mr. Edlward Secore, and
her niece, Mrs. Packard Stanton,
both of Pittsburg, Pa. and Rev. and
Mrs. H. W. Sander, of Little Val-
ley; Rev. Sander gave the invoca-
tion.
The celebration was climaxed by,
a reception in the Church Parlora
in the evening, to which the en-
tire congregation, was invited. The
evening was opened with some
brief remarks by the Rev. H. W.
Sander, of Little Valley, N. Y., a
long-time friend of Pastor Buerg-
er, who, with his wife came for
the festivities. Thereupon an en-
tertainment committee took over,
and presented a sketch of the
lives of the celebrants in a most
interesting manner, livened by
scenes from their life cast on the
screen by an opaque projector. The
Committee consisted of Mesdames
Nick Deleo, Theodore Mattlce, Lai
verne Sick and Gratton Wallace.
The President of the congregation,
Mr. Lewis Zeh, extended congratu-
lations in behalf of the congrega-
tion, and presented the couple with
a "Statolounger" chair. Refresh-
ments were then served to over
100 guests by the refreshment com
mittec, composed of Mesdames
Roland Drum, Victor Fleishman,
and Walter Drum. A large wedding
anniverary cake, baked by Mrs.
Leonard A Ploetz, and beau-
tifully decorated by her and her
sister, Mrs. Morehouse, was cut
and served by Mrs. Rudolph Zeh.

Hiram Ketch, died at his farm
borne at Bath Monday, July 22, at
the age of 83. His funeral was
held at his late home Thursday, with
burial in Nondaga cemetery. The
Rev. P. E. Greenwalt, protestant
chaplain at the Veterans Facility,
conducted the funeral.
Hiram Ketch was born in Cohocton,
March 5, 1857, the son of Cyrus
and Mary VanHousen Ketch.
He attended the Naples High School
and after graduation taught for
some years. He was endowed with
a remarkable understanding of the
science of numbers, and retained an
almost unbelieveable memory of
dates. In arithmetic he was a prodigy,
especially in addition and multiplication.
Mr. Ketch was a member of the
Wesleyan Methodist church at Wallace.
In his younger years he was
a licensed "exhorter" and often conducted
church services. He was
married Dec. 11, 1878, to Miss Ada
Lyke, and two children were born of
the union, a son, Lewis Ketch, who
owns the farm in what was formerly
known as Long well's Lane, north of
the Veterans' Facility; and a daughter,
Maude, who became the wife of
Hibbard Brush, and who died March
1, 1936. He married for his second
wife, Jennie Shutts, of Gloversvllle
who died several years'ago.

James Hospital, Hornell, Friday
morning, July 13. She had been ill
several months. She was 44 and
leaves her husband, 8 sons and 3
daughters. The funeral was held in
Canisteo Monday.

5198 Col. William George, 64, veteran of 3 wars

Col. William G. George, who served as the senior military representative in the State Department, died Sunday from cancer.
George, of Deerfield Beach, was 64.
Born in Indiana, George began his 33 years of military service with the RAF in Canada. He flew bombing missions over England and served in World II, the Korean War and the Viet Nam War.
He retired to Florida from his Washington, D.C., State Department post 11 years ago.
He retired as a full colonel after receiving numerous medals.
George was a member of the Inverness Elks Club and Tam O'Shanter Golf Club in Pompano Beach.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; daughters Mrs. Robert Thomas, of Indianapolis, Inc.l Mrs. Edgar Ward, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; son William G. George II of Deerfield, Ill; and ive grandchildren.
Services will be 5:30 tonight at the Kraeer Funeral Home, 1199 Sample Road, Pompano Beach. He will be buried in Indiana.
The family requests that instead of lowers any contributions be made to Hospice Care of the American Cancer Society.

be in the Cold Spring Cemetery, un
der the direction of Wm. A. Scully
undertaker.
Mrs. Brooks was born in. Sweden.
She leaves a record of faithful service
in the community.
Surviving are the husband, one
daughter, Mrs, Emli Hrusa; a sister
Mrs. Charlotte Person, of New York
city: a brother, David VanQuist of
Sweden and two grandchildren, John
and Dorothy Hrusa.
