5351 | Darlene S. Gratz passed away unexpectedly at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital on Friday March 3, 2017. She was born on January 3, 1929 in Niagara Falls to Richard and Edna (Lemke) Schieman. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School at the age of 17. She immediately went to work for the DuPont Corporation in the research and development department there. She was the first hire by DuPont that had not reached the age of 18. She met William H. Gratz in Niagara Falls and they were married in 1955. They were blessed with one son, William. After her marriage, she devoted over 40 years overseeing the financial books of Cataract Metal Finishing in Niagara Falls, the family business. Darlene was very active in her church. She had been a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church up to the point of its merger with Hope Lutheran Church to form Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She served on the altar guild as well as the ladies group. She is survived by her son, Bill (Laura) of Lewiston, Idaho; grandsons, Will (Kendel) of Ft. Leavenworth, KS, Martin and Erik of Silverdale, WA. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Greg (Emily) Jose of Baltimore, MD, Becky Jose of Pullman, WA and Daniel Jose of Bremerton, WA. She is also survived by a great-granddaughter Sophia Gratz of Ft. Leavenworth, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her sister, Eunice Bair; and her parents. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 17th from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston. He will be fondly remembered by all, for his keen sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with family, watching old movies, Corvette cars and reading. He was employed at Keller Technology in Tonawanda, NY, as a machine assembler for over 40 years prior to retiring in 2001. David was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Vincent De Paul Parish at St. Leo’s Church, where he was a member of the Catholic Brotherhood, and volunteered assisting at the concession stand during Bingo. He enjoyed woodworking, as well as golfing and bowling. Above all, he especially enjoyed spending time with his family. 5367 | David B. Lambert 73, of Youngstown, NY died Saturday February 24, 2018 in the Niagara Hospice House Lockport after a courageous battle with ALS. Born in Lockport on October 17, 1944 to the late Paul F. and Reta H. (Mudd) Lambert. David graduated from Lockport High School and worked at Harrison Radiator from age 18 (on the line) working his way up to management positions in product service and sales. Before he retired in 1999, he was the lead auditor for the QS 9000 Quality Control Program. In the late 1960s he served in the Army National Guard. David loved cars, especially his antique 1930 model A and his BMWs. He enjoyed social time meetings at McDonalds and Burger King with friends and also the 3rd Thursday retirees group from Delphi. Most recently he enjoyed watching 3-D movies and sitting by the river at Niawanda Park. On July 29, 1995 he married Linda (Wood) Heagerty Lambert and has resided in Youngstown since then. In addition to his wife; he is survived by his children; Annie Lambert; Katie Heagerty(Tim) Lashway; Meghan Heagerty (Robert) Harmon and Robert Sean (Kristen Bowes) Heagerty. 5368 | David Barlow Swift of Burt, NY passed away on July 18, 2017 at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport, New York. He was born on April 15, 1947 in Lockport, NY, son of the late Robert and Genevieve Townsend Swift. He was a decorated Vietnam veteran serving in the Army as a Spec 4 during the Tet Offensive where he received the bronze star and the distinguished Soldiers Medal for bravery when he dove into a raging river saving the lives of Vietnamese children. After serving in the war he returned to his position at Harrison Radiator where he retired. He had a passion for antique cars and was one of the founders of the Olcott Cruise Night. He also enjoyed boating and fly-fishing on Lake Alice and operated a booth at Gordy Harper’s Bazaar specializing in classic vinyl records. Born on July 4, 1930 in Lyndonville, NY, he was the son of the late Louis and Frances (Young) Bentley. David grew up in Lyndonville and graduated from Lyndonville High School. He worked for the Walker-Gordon Dairy Farm, where he took care of the famous Elsie the Bored Cow. David enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a Second-Class Airman. Upon returning home, he married the former Virginia Ames and together they raised two daughters. He was employed as a Stationary Engineer for Harrison Radiator for 35 years. After Virginia's passing, he married the former Carolyn Rowland Meyer and together they made their home in Lyndonville. David was a former member of the Yates Baptist Church and enjoyed the outdoors, especially while farming and camping. He also enjoyed reading.and puzzle books. Born February 4, 1943 in Batavia, Dave was the son of the late Carl and Mae (Bistoff) Bushover. He worked many years as a mechanic for Fisher-Price Toys in Medina, was a school bus driver for the Medina Central School District and also worked as a code enforcement officer for the Town of Shelby. An active member of his community, Dave was a proud member of the Shelby Volunteer Fire Company for 54 years, where he served as Chief, President, Vice President and Treasurer. Dave was an elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Medina, formerly served on the Town of Shelby Republican Committee, was a board member at Hospice of Orleans, was also a member and Past Master of the Medina Lodge #336 F&AM for 30 years and the Medina Lions Club for 25 years, where he enjoyed serving on the scholarship committee. Survivors include his wife, Donna L. He also served as a Volunteer Firefighter with the Town of Niagara Active Hose Company for many years. Dave was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Above all, he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 5381 | David J. DiCamillo February 23, 2023 David J. DiCamillo, 82, retired President of DiCamillo Bakery died peacefully in his sleep after a long and valiant battle with Parkinson’s disease. Mr. DiCamillo was the oldest of four sons born to Frank and Anita (Vespa) DiCamillo. He was educated at St. Josephs Elementary School, Bishop Duffy High School, and received his BA Degree from Niagara University in 1964. On June 20, 1964 he married Monica Kadykowski and together they lovingly cared for each other and their extended family until his death. After a successful career at Mobil Oil Company, David joined with his father, uncles, and brother in DiCamillo Bakery. He was an astute businessman and deeply committed to the Bakery’s legacy and its future in Niagara Falls. Early on he saw great real estate opportunities in the community, and with his brother Thomas, secured a central commissary to more efficiently supply their retail locations; they also acquired a pivotal retail location on Niagara Falls Boulevard. In addition, he led the company into the Gourmet Food Market and into new retail locations. Through all of the challenges of running a small business, he steadfastly believed in the future potential of Western New York and Niagara Falls in particular. He was a committed community leader and was active in many organizations including: the Niagara Falls Main Street Business Association; Mount St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation; Niagara Community College; and the Niagara Falls Chamber of Commerce; serving on the boards of most. While he was resigned to the fact that he had Parkinson’s Disease, Dave never stopped fighting its limitations, and he never gave in or gave up. He worked six days a week until he retired in 2021. Dave had great personal integrity and considerable physical and moral strength. During his life, David was a dutiful son, a loving husband, a supportive father, an inspiring brother, and a fair, open minded partner. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was respectful and kind to all. He let his Catholic faith guide him in every aspect of his life. One of David's greatest passions was his musical career, he was a performer and multi-instrumentalist and holds several copyrights for songs that he has written. He performed in several musical bands over the course of 50 years and loved bringing joy to the local communities through music. David will be remembered for his generosity and kindness, always the gentleman, he was loyal and loving to his friends and family. 5387 | David Mahar, 83, a lifetime resident of Gasport and Wilson, NY, devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away on January 2, 2020 surrounded by loving family. Born February 20, 1936 in Gasport, NY, he was the son of the late Emmett and Sylvia (Haseley) Mahar. Dave attended DeSales Catholic School and Cornell University, where he enrolled in the ROTC program and trained to become an officer. During his training, he attended the 82nd Airborne School in North Carolina. His training with the 82nd Airborne was one of the proudest times in his life. After his discharge, he enlisted in the Army Reserves, and served at Camp Drum for many summers. In 1967, he married Mary Ann O'Connor, mother of his four children, who predeceased him in 1979. After her passing, Dave worked tirelessly to support his children and help them develop strong work ethics and a capable approach to life. In 1992, Dave married Joan (Van Arsdale) Hartz. Together, Dave and Joan travelled consistently and spent many wonderful years together as snowbirds, enjoying time in Florida during the winter months. Dave grew up on Mahar's Ponderosa with his family and together, they built their family farm into a successful business. In 1963, Dave went to work for Lakeside Farms in Ransomville as Manager for the large dairy, vegetable and fruit farm. He learned the business ropes there and in 1969, moved on to Frontier Stone, eventually buying the business with Bob Pass and Chuck Loiacano in 1983. Surrounded by excellent people, they ran the business successfully until selling to Redland in 1997. Dave loved to host family parties, including everything from chicken barbeques to Father's Day feasts and August corn parties. His hobbies included hunting, photography, golf and gardening. A World War II enthusiast, Dave read countless books on the subject. A member of St. Brendan on the Lake parish, Dave was a devoted Catholic who lived a humble life and gave generously to others. Dave was a mentor to countless people, helping to shape and change lives for the better, paying forward the gift of wisdom others had given to him. Although his time was cut short with them, he loved being with his grandkids. David was born in Lockport, NY on March 9, 1968, son of the late Robert and Irene (Kraatz) Knoop and he attended Royalton Hartland. He and his wife, Laurene (Taylor) Knoop, were married August 17, 1990. He was employed at Barnes Metal Finishing in Medina, NY and he enjoyed spending time with his family, riding motorcycles and repairing them. He also enjoyed music. David is survived by his wife, Laurene Knoop; two children, Amanda (Alex) Knoop and Collin Knoop, all of Middleport; one granddaughter, Audrey Lynn Upton, also of Middleport; five brothers and sisters, Kathleen (Gary) Mullen of Lockport, Robert (Margaret) Knoop of Florida, Theresa (Kevin) Kirkpatrick, Lynn Kwiatkowski, both of Middleport, and Mary Beth (David) Litchfield of Tennessee. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. David worked for Pediatric & Adolescent Urgent Care and was pursuing his nursing degree. 5397 | DAVID R. SCHENDEL Town of Cambria - David R. Schendel died suddenly at home, on Tuesday February 7, 2006 at the age of 60. He was born on April 19, 1945 at St. Mary's Hospital in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Robert G. and Marion M. (Lindhurst) Schendel. He was a 1962 graduate of Wilson High School and received an Associates Degree from Erie Community College. Dave was employed as a tool and die maker for 35 years at Harrison Radiator, retiring in 1999. He was also the owner of Ridgeview Plumbing & Heating, a family business he took over in 1983. Dave was an exceptional musician, who not only played several instruments, but also built them. For many years he was a member of the country band, "The Stagehands." He was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Newfane, a former member of the Cambria Volunteer Fire Company and the Niagara County Motorcycle Club. Dave enjoyed spending time golfing and camping, and was an avid reader. He was able to spend his retirement traveling the country with his wife, visiting friends and family. His most favorite time was spent being "Papa" to his grandchildren. David was born November 11, 1939 in North Tonawanda, the son of the late Rowland and Helene (Proefrock) Stubbs. He was a graduate of North Tonawanda. High School, attended Erie Community College, and received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Clarkson College before attending Cornell University. David was an Electrical Engineer for Bell Aerospace, and consulted with Lockheed Martin. He was also affiliated with the WNY Institute for Psychotherapy and worked seven years at Melody Fair in North Tonawanda. David was a caretaker at Camp Windy Meadows since 1993. David was an accomplished guitarist and a 30 year member of the Lockport Federation of Musicians. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Edna G. (Sherman) Stubbs, whom he married May 26, 1962; his children, Darlene L. Stubbs and Kevin D. Stubbs both of Ransomville; and his grandchildren, Jonathan L. Burnett and Charles Baudendistle (fiancé Rachel Dutton). He was predeceased by a sister, Barbara H. Frase. 5399 | David Richard Kline, age 86, a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into rest at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. He was the son of the late Ralph W. Kline and May L. (Fry) Kline. David attended Niagara Falls schools and graduated from LaSalle High School. He received his BA degree in Math Education from University of Buffalo. He taught over 30 years in the Niagara Falls City School District, teaching math and computer science at Gaskill Middle School, and the former LaSalle Senior High School, until his retirement. David served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, in the Military Police Corps. He enjoyed playing the piano. David was a lifelong member of the Order of the Masonic Lodge. Later, Mr. Koch was the owner and operator of Dave's New & Used on Pine Avenue. David attended Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish, where he attended the St. Joseph's worship site. He enjoyed antiquing and fishing. Mr. Koch is survived by four children, David S.
