6101 Eric H. Kreiger, of Youngstown, passed away on September 14, 2022 at home.  He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 18, 1965, a son of Robert and Nancy (McKeown) Kreiger. 
Eric was employed by J.W. Danforth Company as a pipefitter for many years.  He loved life, was free spirited and enjoyed entertaining friends and family at his home.  His friends were extended to him and were dearly loved. 
In addition to his many friends, he is survived by his loving sister, Traci Kreiger and her three children and families: very loved by Karen Pascoe and several cousins. 
Visitation will be held Friday, October 7, 2022 from 2-4 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls.  The interment will be private.

6102 Eric Lindal, 51 years old, was found dead in the basement of his home at 54 Morgan street yesterday, the victim of an attack of apoplexy. He had gone into the basement to do some work. Alarmed over his continued absence, Mrs. Lindal investigated, and found him dead. Mr. Lindal was born in Sweden. He came to America 30 years ago and had resided in Tonawanda for the past 25 years. He was a member of Sutherland lodge, No. 826, F. & A. M. and Ismalia Temple. A wife, Anna; a son Kenneth Harold, and a sister, Mrs. Alice Peterson, the latter of Sweden, survive. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the undertaking rooms of Fred Hilliard at Main and Johnson streets. Sutherland lodge will be in charge. Rev. 6104 Erma C (Frantz) Stevens, lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2018. She was 91.  She was born in Niagara Falls on February 18, 1927, a daughter of the late Harold and Bessie Ann (Benjamin) Frantz.  She attended local schools and then married and raised her family.
Erma was a loving lady who enjoyed sitting on her bench outside her home and interacting with the people passing by but her greatest joy was her time with her family.
She is survived by 9 children: Bessie Ann (Gary) Losel, Daniel Stevens, Linda (Ron) Shatzel, Michael (Wendy) Stevens, James (Lisa) Stevens, Gerald (Sue) Stevens, Stanley (Karen) Wills, Tracey (Tom) Maloney and Michael (Ruth Paonessa) Reagle and many grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Harold (late Debbie) Stevens and her three brothers, Calvin, Wilbur and Harold Frantz.
Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue on Tuesday from 3-7 P.M. where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 A.M. followed by burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Niagara Falls.

Erna O. Mielke, 86, of 92nd Street, died Tuesday (Dec. 15, 1992) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
She was born in Columbia. Mich.. to the Rev. Otto and Grace (Grabau) Bruss.
She lived in Niagara Falls for most of her life. She was employed at the Belleview Dress Shop for 35 years prior to retiring in May 1991. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz.
Mrs. Mielke was the wife of Raymond Mielke, who died in 1965.
She is survived by a son, Gary N. Mielke of Niagara Falls; a daughter, Dawn C. Glenn of Niagara Falls; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the stepdaughter of the late Olga Bruss and sister of the late Ariel Greiner, Elfrieda Decker, Roland Bruss and Gerald Bruss.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Lane Funeral Home, 8622 Buffalo Ave. The Rev. David Menz will conduct services at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. James Lutheran Church, 2437 Niagara Road, Bergholz.
Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Bergholz.

Erna O. Mielke, 86, of 92nd Street, a retired employee of the Bellevue Dress Shop, died Tuesday (Dec. 15, 1992) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
A native of Columbia, Mich., the former Erna O. Bruss was a longtime resident of Niagara Falls. She worked at the dress shop for 35 years until she retired in 1991.
Mrs. Mielke was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church, Bergholz.
Surviving are a son, Gary N.; a daughter, Dawn C. Glenn; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday in St. James Lutheran Church, 2437 Niagara Road, Bergholz. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Bergholz.

Erna Schildhauer Miller, 82, of Niagara Falls died yesterday (Nov. 28, 1984) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston. She was born in Milwaukee, Wis., and had been a resident of this area since 1928. She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church and a former member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Pekin. Mrs. Schildhauer was past president of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She is survived by a son, William Schildhauer of Niagara Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Janette) Lemley of Niagara Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Hediger of Niagara Falls and Mrs. Olga Trapp of Milwaukee, Wis.; and 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Mrs. Ellen Kanouff. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church, Cayuga Drive and Pershing Avenue. Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Peter A. Wilson Funeral Chapel, 8904 S. Military Road. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Ernest F. Achterberg, 68, died yesterday afternoon at his home, 1107 Oliver street He was born in Germany and had resided here the past 60 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed church. Surviving are his wife, Ida; two daughters, Mrs. John F. Susty and Mrs. Edward C. Janowsky; a son, Ernest J., and two grandchildren. Other survivors are two brothers, Charles of Pickard's Bridge and Gustav of North Tonawanda, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Maerten of North Tonawanda. He was also a member of the Buffalo Bolt Mutual Aid Society. Rites will be held tuesday at 2 pm from the residence. The Rev. J. J. Braun will officiate. Burial will be in

6109 Ernest Geschwender, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away April 5, 2020 at home while under the care of family and his wonderful aids. Born in Niagara Falls, New York, on June 15, 1924, the son of Frank and Martha (Clarkson) Geschwender.
He was a graduate of the former LaSalle Jr./Sr. High School and NCCC. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps during WW II.
He retired from the Carborundum Company serving in various positions in 1984 after 42 years.
He is survived by sons, Thomas W. Geschwender and Richard G. Geschwender; a sister, Audrey; grandchildren, John T., Christopher R. and Krystina R; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Ernest was predeceased by his wife, of 62 years, Nellie; and five siblings.
A special thank you to all the health care aids that have helped over the past five years, especially Beverly Brown and Sharon Lengen.
Services will be private. Entombment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls.

6110 Ernest H. Ganshaw, Jr., September 5, 2016 in Niagara Hospice House with his family at his side. Born on August 17, 1933 in the Town of Niagara, he is the son of the late Ernest H. and Helen (Britton) Ganshaw, Sr.
He attended local schools and worked the family farm then served in the Korean War in the Army in 1953 as a Demolition Expert honorably discharged in 1955. He worked for Allied Chemical in Wilson starting in 1956 retiring after 25 years he also worked for Hamilton and Clark in his spare time. Ernest met Karen Walker in 1963 and they married July 25, 1964. He loved CB radios, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends, especially camp in Stuben County Town of Killbuck.
Surviving besides his wife is children, Harold (Debbie) Ganshaw of Wilson, Linda Johnson of Wrights Corners, Darin Ganshaw of Wilson and Ernest W. Ganshaw of Sanborn. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Ernest H. Ganshaw II; brother, Samuel (Ann) Ganshaw of Pennsylvania; and sister, Barbara Ganshaw.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 PM in the Hamilton and Clark Funeral Home, 270 Young Street, Wilson, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Niagara Hospice or Ransomville Free Methodist Church.

6111 Ernest Longo, 93, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on December 21, 2022 at Buffalo General Hospital.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Liborio ‘Leo’ and Clara (Mazzone) Longo.
Ernest served proudly in the United States Army from 1946 until his honorable discharge in 1950. In 1957, he married Mary (Chudyk) Longo.  Mrs. Longo predeceased him on October 1, 2016.  Ernie was employed as a Sheriff’s Deputy with the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department for 38 years, retiring in the early 1990’s.  For the past few years, Ernie volunteered at Our Lady of Peace and at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital.  Ernie enjoyed reading and walking.  More than anything, he cherished the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews, who affectionately referred to him as Uncle Ernie.  Although he will be remembered for his quiet and kind nature, his sense of humor will also be missed.
Ernest is survived by his children, Karen (Michael) Dwyer and Darren (Kelly) Longo; his grandchildren, Michael (Sarah) Dwyer, Kristin (Jason) Kientz, Laura (Nate) Gerey, Patrick (Justin Wrezsinki) Dwyer, Cole Longo, Clay Longo, and Aurora Longo; great grandchildren, Isabella, Theo, Mila, Eliana, Henry, Alice, Charlie, Jane, Addie and Evie; his sister, Leonita (late William) Lawson, as well as many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife of 59 years, he was predeceased by his siblings, Anthony (late Caroline) Longo, Louis Longo, John (late Frances) Longo, James (late Concetta) Longo, and Josephine (late Dominic) Rotella.

He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on March 19, 1972, the son of Linda G. [Zemla] Kraft and the late Ernest P. Kraft, Sr. Jocko attended St. Joseph's grade school and Niagara Falls High School. He was employed with various business in the area over the years. Jocko enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to music and playing video games. In addition to his mother, he is survived by one brother Jason R. Kraft,    half brother of Pamela Meness and Hillard Meness, also many aunts, uncles and cousins. Private funeral services were held at the wishes of his family.

6113 Ernestine Grawe, 68, of the Nash Road, Town of Wheatfield, died this morning at her home. Born in Germany, Mrs. Grawe came to this country and the Town of Wheatfield 62 years ago.
She is survived by her husband, Gustave Grawe, two daughters, Mrs. Charles Neumann of North Tonawanda, and Mrs. Arthur Peiper, town of Wheatfield; six sons, Edmund, George, and Walter, of the town of Wheatfield; Herman and Benjamin of North Tonawanda, and Phillip of Tonawanda. Mrs. Grawe leaves also 35 grandchildren, one great grandchild, three sisters, Mrs. Jacob Kline, town of Wheatfield, Mrs. William Achterburg, town of Pendleton, an Mrs. AIbert Broecker of Pekin.
The funeral will be held Sunday at two o'clock from the late residence and 2:30 from St. John's church, St. Johnsburg, the Rev. Walter Thiemecke officiating. Burial will be in St. Johnsburg cemetery.

He was born in Altamont and was a retired employee of Central Illinois Public Service.

He was precede in death by his wife, Leona.

We was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.

He was also a member of the board of directors of Camp Cilca.

Surviving are two sons, Wayne of Morton and Robert of Chicago; step-daughter, Shirley Sutton of Springfield; brother Edgar of Altamont; two sisters, Mrs. Erma Van Ness of Cincinnati, Mrs. Louella Roschke of Hobart, Ind.; four grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bisch Memorial Home, Rev. Edward M. Lang officiating.

Erwin J. Milleville, 76, of Cayuga Drive, died Tuesday (July 29, 1997) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, 'suddenly.
Born in Wheatfield on May 28,1921, he was the son of Hugo and Beata (Mueller) Milleville. He was a graduate of LaSalle Senior High School. During World War II, Mr. Milleville served in the U.S. Navy, in the Seabees. He married Jean Moebius on May 28, 1949. Mr. Milleville was employed at the former Oldbury County, which was latcr absorbed into Hooker Chemical, as a pipe-fitter for 42 years. He retired in 1982.
He was a lifelong member of St. 'James Lutheran Church, Bergholz, where he had held various positions, including Sunday schoolteacher, trustee, secretary and president. He was a charter member of the Wheatfield American Legion Post 1451. Mr. Milleville was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed bowling and golfing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Larry Milleville of Atlanta and Paul Milleville of Niagara Falls; a daughter, Linda Haseley of Sanborn; two brothers, Richard Milleville of Wheatfield and Donald Milleville of the Town of Niagara; five sisters, Florence Mielke of Niagara Falls, Winifred Proefrock and Alice Lang, both of Wheatfield, Janice Kysor of Lewiston and Beatrice Nehrboss of Newstead; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Alfred Milleville.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, where the Seabees will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday and the Wheatfield Post 1451 will hold a service at 7 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. David Menz will conduct services at 11 a.m. Friday in St. James Lutheran Church, Niagara Road and Rohr Street, Bergholz. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield. Erwin J. Milleville, 76, a retired pipe fitter and an active member of St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz, died Tuesday (July 29, 1997) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda.
Milleville, 76, of Cayuga Drive, was born in Wheatfield and was a graduate of LaSalle High School. He served in the Navy Seabees during World War II

MILLEVILLE, Erwin John (I53226)
 
6117 Eshelman, Samuel B., was horn at Clarence Center, Erie county, July 6, 1839, a son of the late John Eshelman, a prosperous farmer of that section. Samuel Eshelman was educated in the public schools of his native town and in Cary Collegiate Seminary, and was graduated from that institution in 1855. He immediately entered the general store of his brother, John Eshelman, jr., as clerk, where he remained seven years, and then removed to Buffalo, where he was engaged as a clerk in a large dry goods establishment; in 1863 he removed to Niagara Falls, where he was placed in charge of the large flour and feed store of Witner Bros. and remained in that position nineteen years, when he established himself in the same line of business and in which he successfully operated until 1885, when he was elected justice of the peace and retained that oflice for eight years. He represented the town of Niagara in the Board of Supervisors for four years, being chairman of the hoard in 1881 and 1882. Among the public offices filled by him were those of village treasurer for four years, village trustee, member of the Board of Education and of the Board of Water Commissioners, and others. In 1896 he was appointed attendance officer of the city of Niagara Falls, which office he still holds. July 23, 1872, he married Harriet Metz of Niagara Falls, and they had six children.

6118 Esslie, Adam, deceased, was born in Hesse Darmstadt, Germany, April 23, 1831, and educated in the common schools of his native town. In 1854 he immigrated to America, settling at Niagara Falls, N. Y., where he took up the calling of farmer, and in 1868 bought fifty acres of fertile land in the town of Niagara, and established the present Esslie homestead farm. He was an industrious and highly respected farmer and esteemed by all his fellow citizens, and was deeply mourned upon his passing away, November 12, 1888. Since his decease Mrs. Esslie has continued to reside at the farm near the historic Schiosser's dock, a typical country home. Mrs. Esslie has reared a family of eleven children, six sons and five daughters, all of whom are still living. During the land boom in 1891 she sold half of her farm (twenty-four acres) at eight hundred and fifty dollars an acre, for which her husband had paid but eighty dollars an acre. Mrs. Esslie lives a quiet, retiring life, much esteemed by her neighbors and friends. Adam Esslie was married in January, 1861, to Caroline Stricker, a daughter of George Stricker of Niagara Falls. Mr. Esslie and family were members of the Lutheran church. In politics he was a Democrat.

Estelle M. Hexemer, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2024 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late William L. and Marianina (Russo) Panfili.
Estelle graduated from Trott Vocational High School in Niagara Falls, where she studied nursing.  In 1952, she married Frank O. Hexemer in Niagara Falls, NY.  Mr. Hexemer predeceased her in 1982.  Estelle was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the former Fairchild Manor in Lewiston, NY as well as at St. Mary’s from 1969 until 1979.  Estelle enjoyed crocheting and taking care of her home, especially painting, gardening and yardwork.  She will be remembered for her great sense of humor.  Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her family, especially at the many family dinners that she hosted.
Estelle is survived by her sons, Jon (Laurie Hewitt Hexemer) Hexemer and Frank Hexemer; her granddaughter, Stephanie Otto; her great-granddaughters, Brianica, Alyssa and Julia, as well as by several beloved nieces.  In addition to her husband of 30 years, she was predeceased by her siblings, Pasquale Panfilli, Theresa Panfili, Ida Panfili, and Connie (late Rocco) Lancelloti.

6120 Esther (Manente) Donatelli, age 96, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2017 in Our Lady of Peace. She was born February 2, 1920 in Niagara Falls, NY, to the late Carmine and Niva (Valleria) Manente. 
A lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, she was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. She married John A. Donatelli in Niagara Falls, NY and he died on October 29, 1988. For many years Esther worked in the retail sales at several locations including S.S. Kresges, W.T. Grant Department Stores, Super Duper Supermarket and DiCamillo's Bakery. She also volunteered for many years at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and St. Mary's Manor on 6th Street. Esther was a member of St. Joseph Church and was active in their St. Vincent de Paul and Senior Societies. She enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S., Europe, and her many trips to Hawaii. 
Her survivors include two children, Doreen Universal and John C. Donatelli; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Esther was predeceased by her husband; parents; daughter-in-law, the late Margaret 'Peggy' M. Donatelli; and two siblings, the late Jeanette Rizzutto and the late Frank Manente. 
The family will be present to receive friends on Monday from 6-8 PM at the SPALLINO-AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls, NY. Family and friends are invited on Tuesday to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Ave., at 10 AM. SANBORN - Esther E. Lange, 85, of 6154 Walmore Road died Wednesday (Oct. 28, 1981) In Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a brief illness.
A lifelong resident of Wheatfield, she was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church and a member of the church's American Lutheran Church Women. She was the widow of William F. Lange, who died In 1960.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Eleanor) Moll of Niagara Falls and Mrs. Elwood (Gertrude) Krull of Sanborn; two sons, William and Norbert, both of Sanborn; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Herbert R. Maxwell officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.

She was employed at Moore Business Forms as a presswomen from 1940 to 1960 and worked as a clerk at Slipko's food store from 1963 to 1973. She was a 50-year member of St. Paul's Calvary Lutheran Church and was active in church activities. She and her husband, Clarence P. Wittkopp, who survives, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sept. 5, 1981. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Kenneth R. Wittkopp of this city; two daughters, Mrs. Roger (Doris) DeVantier of Cherry Hill, N.J., and Mrs. Albert (Bernice) McLean of this city; and eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. . 6129 ESTHER L.K. HERMAN, age 100, a life long resident of Wheatfield, entered into a peaceful life with her Lord, on December 30, 2017 at the Brookdale Niagara residence in Wheatfield. Born August 28, 1917, daughter of the late Gustav and Anna (McGill) Werth. Esther married Martin F. Herman, who preceded her in death on July 20, 2003. She was a life long member of St. John Lutheran Church, Wheatfield; and had many hobbies including sewing, crocheting, knitting, playing cards, and traveling with the Wheatfield Senior Citizens. Esther was employed for many years at the former G.C. Murphy store in North Tonawanda.
Survivors include three children, Sharon (Lee) Muir, Wayne (Lynda) Herman, and Wesley (Barbara) Herman; a daughter in law, Janet Herman; former daughter in law, Joy Herman; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by a son, "Woody" Herman; and grandson, Rodney Herman. Esther will be sadly missed by everyone, especially friends at the Woodlands Senior Apartments.

Esther R. Stange , a retired Niagara Savings and Loan employee, died Wednesday (July 12, 2000) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. She was 87.
Born Esther Behnke in Cambria, she graduated from Lockport High School and worked at Buffalo Bolt for several years as a bookkeeper. She retired in 1978 from Niagara Savings and Loan in North Tonawanda.
Mrs. Stange was a member of the Altar Society of St. John Lutheran Church of Wheatfield, where she helped with the school lunch program. She also was active with the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the St. Johnsburg Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and was an elections inspector.
Her husband, Norman, died in 1961.
Survivors include a daughter, Norma Wallace of Jackson, Tenn.; a son, Douglas of Des Moines, Iowa; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. John Church, Niagara Falls Boulevard and Ward Road, Wheatfield. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ethel A (Plautz) Bohl, 90, of St. Mary's Manor, formerly of Sanborn, died Wednesday (Aug. 5, 1998) at Mount St, Mary's Hospital in Lewiston
She was born Feb 9, 1908, in Chase, Wis., the daughter of Edward and Clara (Schwartz) Plautz. She lived in Chase most of her life.
She and her husband of 45 years, George Bohl, owned a farm in Sampson, WI. After retiring from the farm, the couple moved to Abrams Wis. Where they lived for three years. After her husband died in Aug 1976, she moved to Sanborn to live with her daughter, Carol M. Pfohl. For the past five years she had lived in St. Mary's Manor.
She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Abrams.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a sister, Evelyn Plautz of Chicago, four grandchildren, two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Harold Plautz and Edwin Plautz.
Visitation will be held from 2 -4 and 7 - 9 p.m. at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Wheatfield. Where the Rev. Bruce Gamaché will conduct a prayer service at 8:45 p.m. Visitation will also be from 4 - 7 p.m. Monday in Calvary Lutheran Church, Abrams, where services will follow at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Abrams.

6134 Ethel Grace Blackwell, age 95, of Lewiston died Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. She was born July 29, 1928, in Mildmay, Ontario, the daughter of the late Charles and Oleva (Schmidt) Jasper and they moved to Lewiston shortly thereafter. Ethel attended Stella Niagara where she became an accomplished pianist in her teenage years. She memorized the Mozart Concerto, which was fifty-four pages, and played it at a recital with one of her teachers. After High School she received a music scholarship to Rosary College in Buffalo.She was a church organist and pianist at the Forestview Church of God for many years. She subsequently was the organist at many area churches, including Calgary Lutheran. She learned to master the pipe organ and there were many memorable moments in which her daughters would watch her practice in awe. She also played at many weddings and funerals and taught piano in her home.Ethel's biggest enjoyment was when she transformed her music career in the 1960's by playing piano at many area entertainment venues such as Schrafts, Lotitos, The Park Hotel, as well as many places in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Niagara on the Lake. She was in her heyday at this time and developed a faithful and enthusiastic following. Ethel was known for her glamour, beautiful smile, and sensational piano music. She developed a strong sense of independence and was bursting with pride when she bought her first new car with her earnings.She raised her four children and continued to reside in Lewiston. In the 1970's she frequented The Coat of Arms in Lewiston where she listened to her friend Jerry D'Amico and his jazz band. Ethel always enjoyed listening to other musicians perform, often noting what key a piece was in and would critique the music as only a fellow musician could. Ethel loved country music, jazz, classical and gospel to name a few. In her later years one of her most enjoyable activities was being driven by her caretakers along the river and marveling at its' beauty.She was a devoted and hardworking mother and will be remembered fondly by all who knew and appreciated her.Ethel is survived by her children, Jeff (Patti) Blackwell, Sandy Blackwell Yates, and Sharon Blackwell; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. 6135 Ethel Louise Owler, age 98 of Youngstown, died Monday October 23, 2017 in the Niagara Hospice House in Lockport.
 
Ethel was born June 6, 1919 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Harry and Anna (Hanson) Allen. Following her graduation from Trott Vocational School in 1937, she worked for the Carborundum Company. On September 4, 1943 she married William Gordon Owler at Camp Murphy, Florida. They were married for 65 years until his passing in 2009.
 
They lived in Matteson, IL from 1952 to 1987 when they moved to Youngstown. During their time in Matteson, Ethel and Bill were members of the 1st Presbyterian Church, Chicago Heights, IL and she was a Sunday School Teacher loving her time with the Kindergarten children for 20 years. She was also involved in Women's Fellowship and doing mission sewing. Ethel was a member of the Matteson Elementary School PTA serving in several officer positions for many years, and was a member of the Matteson Historical Society.
 
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, a member of the Porter Township Historical Society, Old Fort Niagara and Friends of the Youngstown Free Library.
 
Ethel was extremely proud of her family and loved when they came to visit and spend time at their place along Lake Ontario. She was proud of the four generations pictures with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her family will always cherish the swimming and boating, picnic dinners, and campfires, her blond brownies and her homemade spaghetti. Ethel and her sister Dorothy enjoyed exploring their family ancestry and sharing their Swedish heritage with family and friends. Her love for walking was a daily activity she enjoyed up to the very end.
 
She is survived by her children, William G. (Nancy) Owler, Jr. of Quakertown, PA, Garrett A. (Ruth) Owler of Ballwin, MO, and Eileen (Mel) Meinheit of Peotone, IL; her grandchildren, William G. 6139 Eugene "Sam" Cummings entered into rest November 11, 2021. Born October 29, 1926, he was the son of Albert Cummings and Mary Gardner.
Sam served in the US Army in World War II from 1944-46. He retired from Harrison Radiator, enjoyed golfing and yard work and especially being with his family.
Beloved father of Eugene (Kimberly) Cummings and Lisa (Gary Gellerson) Swanson; cherished grandfather of Hailey and Logan Cummings, Ella and McKenna Swanson; dear brother of Marilyn Kennis; and step-brother of Donald (Patricia) Cummings, Ronald (Sharon) Cummings and Rita Benda. Also several nieces and nephews.

6140 Eugene (Bud) L. Coddington, age 87, of Wheatfield, was called peacefully to his heavenly home on March 15, 2018, while at Niagara Hospice. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on October 24, 1930, he was the son of the late James and Jean (Meyer) Coddington.
Bud served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After serving, he was employed in construction and later became a long-distance truck driver. He retired from Central Transport in 1999. Bud was a long-time member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, loved traveling across the United States, enjoyed playing pinochle, and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Joyce (Ferchen) Coddington; four children, Kenneth (Allison) Coddington of Sanborn, Karen (Stephen) Hodge of Ransomville, Keith (Kathleen) Coddington of LaSalle, Kurt Coddington; sister, Jean (Ernie) Rakstad; and sister-in-law, Sue Coddington of Chicago; five grandchildren, Kristina (Shawn) O'Connor, Elizabeth (Jonathan) Geldard, David, Rachel and Kelly Coddington; two great-grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews. Bud was predeceased by two brothers, Louis and Joseph Coddington; and a sister, Vera Shigihara.
His body has been donated to the State University of New York at Buffalo Anatomical Gift Program. A memorial service will be held at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, 6630 Luther Street, Niagara Falls, at 11 AM on March 24th. 6141 Eugene A. 'Gene' Piegnet passed away on September 20, 2016, after brief illness. Born on July 19, 1936, Chicago, to Andrew T. and Josephine Piegnet who immigrated from Austria. He graduated from NFHS in 1954 and from ECCC in 1956. Gene was employed at Bell Aerosystems in Niagara Falls, NY and Killeen, TX. He retired from Bell Textron. He served in the Army National Guard and was a volunteer fireman. Gene loved classical music, was a collector and was known as an "electronics wizard." Three sisters and one brother surviving: S. Audrey (Morris) Wingard, Lockport, Nancy J. Joseph, Niagara Falls, Mary Lou Dye, Austin TX, Andrew T. Piegnet, Jr., Port Charlotte, FL. 6142 Eugene A. Eick, age 87, of Middleport, entered into rest on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born February 4, 1929 in the Town of Royalton, NY, he is the son of the late Loren and Lydia (Wruck-Frisch) Eick.
He worked at Harrison Radiator in skilled trades for many years. Gene served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Dolores Harch December 29, 1948 at St. Michaels in Wolcottsville. They have been married 67 years. Eugene has lived in the Middleport area all of his life. Eugene enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a lifelong member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Middleport. Gene was a member of the local RC Club and enjoyed building and flying remote controlled airplanes. Eugene won the Golden Hammer Award from Motor Trend Magazine for hand built custom made sport car. He also enjoyed working around the house.
Surviving is his loving wife, Dolores J. (Harch) Eick; and daughter, Debra (Dr. Mark) Perry of Lewiston.
Also surviving Eugene are his grandson, Bryan (Amy) Perry of Grand Island, Doctors Gregory (Melissa) Perry of Cohoes, NY, and Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Perry of Ransomville. Great-grandfather of Carter and Aria, and Oliver and Emma. Brother of Gary (Peggy) Eick of Gasport and the late David and Gerri (Harch) Eick. Several nieces and nephews also survive Eugene.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Bates, Wallace and Heath Funeral Home, 38 State Street, Middleport, NY. 6143 Eugene A. “Gene” McCollum, age 86 of Niagara Falls entered into rest on Tuesday November 14th, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston. Born on July 29th, 1937, in Lewiston to the late Clyde and Ruth (Bradley) McCollum.Gene worked in the cemetery business his whole life starting at age 10 and retiring in 2013 from Riverdale Cemetery after 60 years in the business. He enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing with family and friends and spending the winter months in Ocala, Florida. 6144 Eugene Bishop, 77, of Longview, TX, entered into eternal rest on March 3, 2017 in Longview, TX, surrounded by his wife and four children. He was born August 12, 1939 to Bernard and M. Virginia Bishop in Lockport, NY. 
Gene married the love of his life, Nancy (Chapman) Bishop, on June 22, 1957 after meeting at the Palace Theater in Lockport where they both worked. 
Gene retired from Harrison Radiator in Lockport in August 1989 and moved to Longview, TX, after retiring. Gene was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing on various lakes in East Texas during retirement. He and Nancy also spent time traveling and camping. He was a member of the Wright's Corner's Volunteer Fireman Exempts in NY. 
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Bishop, of Longview, TX; sister, Sheila Bishop Marzo of Syracuse, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Lorraine Bishop of Tonawanda, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Norm Eaton of Lockport, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Amelia Bishop of Longview, TX; and daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Gary DeLuca of Tonawanda, NY. Gene is also survived by eight grandchildren, Dr. Molly Eaton, Stacey Philbrick, Scott Eaton, Jeremy Bishop, Matthew Weir, Patrick Weir, Jacob Bishop and Mary Wood. Gene is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Bailee, Shelby, Laynie and Mylie; along with several nieces and nephews; and his fur baby, Lucy. 
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Bernard and Virginia Bishop; brother, Benjamin Bishop; sister, Barbara Bishop Porter; and grandson, Brian Bishop. 
A memorial service will be held in Wrights Corners, NY at a later date.

6145 Eugene C. Hoover, 87, of Sanborn, NY, died peacefully Sunday at home, after a short illness. Gene was born in the Town of Wheatfield, Niagara County, NY, on May 21, 1921, the son of Edwin and Lucille (Dodge) Hoover, where he attended local schools and Trott Vocational High School, in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY.He was born and raised on the farm where his father began the Hoover Dairy in 1923, along with his brother, Lloyd they continued the dairy and farm following his death in 1968. He continued working at the farm and dairy until last year, after 70 years of the daily routine of the dairy and home deliveries. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of School #7, of the former school at the corner of Hoover and Lockport Road, Town of Wheatfield, Niagara County, NY, a Life member of the Sanborn Fire Company, a member and past board member of the Sanborn Lion's Club, and a member of the former Sanborn Baptist Church.He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Patricia M. McCann Hoover, who died on June 25th of this year.Surviving, are his sons, Robert E. (Judy) Hoover, Dennis J. (Denise) Hoover; a brother, Lloyd (Elfriede) Hoover; two sisters, Ruth (late Dr. Lee) Carrel, Janet (Rick) Latham; grandchildren, Robert E. 6146 Eugene E. Burson, 74, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on October 13, 2021 at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, NY.  Born in Lexington, NE, he was the son of the late Earl and Emily (Brugger) Burson. 
Eugene graduated from Modesto Junior College with an Associate’s Degree in Electronics.   He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1967 until his honorable discharge in 1968.  He then served in the United States Army Reserves until 1994. Eugene came to the Niagara Falls area in 1998, and was employed as an Electrician in Computer Repair at the Buffalo Veteran’s Administration Hospital.  Eugene was a member of the Volare Lodge, where he volunteered and also enjoyed playing Bingo.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, writing out recipes, playing cribbage and canning.
Eugene is survived by his children, Kay (Bob) Goldman, Andrea (Jon) Nyland, Valerie (Mike) Palomo, Sean (Maria) McIntosh, and Jean DiCesare; his grandchildren, Zakary Wilder, Robyn Goldman, Savanah (Katie) Mendez, Marshall (Katerina) Grant, Shawna McIntosh, Lexie McIntosh, Megyn Goldman, Noah Palomo, Robert Goldman III, Christian Burson, Maizy Palomo, Karyn Goldman, and Gina DiCesare; 6 great-grandchildren; his sister, Joyce (Jesse) Walling, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by his wife, Carol (Nicoletti) Burson.

He was born January l2, 1927 in Brook, IN to the late Elmer L. & Mabel L. Matthew Deno. On February 3, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois he married Dolores "Dee" Rose Deno, she preceded him in death December 12, 1998 in Lafayette, IN. Gene retired from farming after 40 years, then worked at Better Coil & Transformer for a few years. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, playing his steel guitar, and doing work search puzzles. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and the Holy Name Society, he was on the board of the Goodland Athletic Association. South Newton Rebels Booster Club and enjoyed playing Dart Ball.

Gene is survived by 3 daughters, Deb L. Deno, Goodland, IN, Gail M. Niedzialek, (husband Pete), Goodland, IN and Linda L. Deno, Goodland, IN. 4 sons, Randy E.. Deno, (wife, Sue), Lafayette, IN, Dave A. Deno, (wife, Tracey), West Lafayette, IN, Brian K. Deno, (wife Debra), Lafayette, IN and Tim N. Deno, (wife Kelly), Goodland, IN. Grandfather of 20 and Great Grandfather of 12, also 2 sisters, Doreen Gretencord, Fowler, IN, and Lucille Pence, (husband, Jim), Watseka, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and 1 sister, Vera Wetley.

6148 Eugene F. Oakes passed away February 7, 2023 under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice.  Born April 17, 1930 in Gasport he was the son of Francis C. and Mina G. (Hinkson) Oakes.  Eugene served in the US Army from 1950 to 1953  during the Korean War, was in the 7th Division, 31st Regiment, Company I, was Squad Leader on 50 caliber, and was stationed in both England and Korea.  He worked for 30 years at Harrison Radiator Div of GM, retiring in 1984.  Eugene was a member of the UAW Retirees Association and the Sunrise Optimist Club where he was past secretary.  He was a life member of the South Lockport Fire Co where he was past Assistant Fire Chief, Niagara County Chief’s Association, and the Niagara County Fire Police Association.  Eugene enjoyed playing both BINGO, cards, and Scrabble with his wife, working in his yard, bowling, and most importantly spending time with his wife, kids, and grandchildren.
Eugene is survived by his wife Concetta "Connie" (Turco) Oakes; children Clara (Steve) Marron, Frank (Michelle) Oakes, and Sam (Jill) Oakes; grandchildren Rich (Jenn) Wilkinson, Lindsay (Steve) Saraf, Jodi (Brandon) O’Brien, Adam (Ashley) Oakes, Haley (Jeffrey) Daigler, and Austin Oakes; great grandchildren  Ethan & Emily Saraf, Jackson & Madelyn Oakes, Bianca Wilkinson, Tristan & Charlie O’Brien, and Kali & Elizabeth Daigler; siblings Dorothy Smallman and late James Oakes; several nieces and nephews.

6149 Eugene Fredrick Naish, age 85, of Gasport, entered into rest on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Absolut Care of Gasport. Born August 27, 1933 in Lockport, Eugene was the son of the late Charles F. and Elizabeth (Chamberlin) Naish.
Eugene was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Ida (Schroeder) Naish. She died November 14, 1992. He was also predeceased by his second wife, Jenette (Criswell) Cummings Naish, who died June 19, 2014.
He worked at Harrison Radiator in Lockport in the Press Room and fireman for 38 years, retiring in 1991. He was a full time Fire Captain on the Fire Brigade for over nine years and was in charge of some of the training sections at Harrisons. Eugene was a member of the Covenant United Church of Christ in Gasport where he served on the Boards of Investment Trustees, and the Yoke Parish Council as President.
Eugene was very involved in fire prevention service. He was a life-time member of Gasport Chemical Hose Co., joining them in 1954 and held the offices of Foreman, Asst. Chief, Deputy Chief, Chef, Assistant Treasurer and President. He was active in EMS and was a 1st responder and EMT for several years; a charter member and Past President of the Niagara Co. Vol. Fire and Police Association, where he served in many capacities; NY State Fire Police Association; Area Director for the Fire Police Association, NY State Fire Chiefs Association; member of the NYS Association of Fire Investigators Chapter 23; he was appointed Deputy Fire Coordinator the Area 4 from 1992 until 2001, and Life Member of the Western NY State Vol. Firemen's Association.
He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 825 of Lockport, the Masonic Lodge 787 of Gasport, Gasport American Legion Post 1253, Past President of the Lockport Amateur Radio Association, and Gasport Senior Citizens Jet Set, serving on their advisory board.
He served his country in the US Navy from 1951-1954 and was in the Naval Reserve for 10 years.
Surviving Eugene are his daughters, Lugene Dodge, Vicky (Lawrence) Demmin, Gwen Hunt and Jacquelyn Lawrence; 10 grandchildren, several great- grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; nieces and nephews also survive Eugene; brother of the late Eathyl Pegelow and Joe Naish.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport, on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
