7152 | Graveside funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in Glenwood Cemetery for Raymond E. Flechsenhaar, formerly of Lockport. He was found dead on his burning boat Sunday, May 30, 1976 off the coast of Riohacha, Columbia, S.A. His body interred in Riohacha at that time, has been released recently by the Columbian government for final interment here. Brn April 9, 1940 in Lockport, he was the son of John and Grace Houseman Flechsenhaar. He was a 1959 gradate of Newfane High School, and was employed in the blueprint department of Harrison Radiator Division, GMC. He was graduate of the Doyle Beauty School in Buffalo and owned and operated "Gather de Ray" in the Lockport Plaza, later known as "Flair." Flechsenhaar is survived bytwo daughters, Kimberly Ann and Cynthia Lyn of Wiliamsville, hs parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas (Grace) Anderline of Lockport and John Flechsenhaar of Niagara Falls; a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Catherine) Skutt of Brut, and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. riends and relatives are invited to attend the graveside services. A Wheatfield native, the former Hilda DeVantier was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she attended Bible class and services and spent time playing cards with the "Rook Gang." She also was a member of St. John's Ladies Aid and the Altar Guild and the Wheatfield Senior Citizens. Her husband, Allan P., died in 1982. She is survived by a son, Daniel of Wheatfield; two daughters, Margaret Failing and Martha Darlak, both of Wheatfield; three brothers, Franklin DeVantier of Arizona and Elton DeVantier and Melvin DeVantier, both of Wheatfield; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. 7159 | GRAY - James Edwin October 23, 2017. Jim was born on November 10, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late George Edwin Gray and the late Beulah (Liz) Butler. He is survived by his loving wife, Jody (Lammerts) Gray, and 5 children: son Mark (Linda) Gray, of Ransomville, NY; daughters Jami (Jim) Brown, of Myrtle Creek, OR, Jacque (Bob) McConnaghy, of Skaneateles, NY, Jodi (Michael) McLean of Pacific Grove, CA and his "baby," Kristin (Jack) Chappell, of Oswego, NY. He also has two beloved grandchildren, Kelsey (Kyle) Norlin of Anacortes, WA and Shaun McConnaghy, of Chicago, IL and the mother of Jim's children, Mary Brass Grey. Jim was born in Niagara Falls, and attended Niagara Falls schools. Jim's life was devoted to helping others. As a youth in Niagara Falls and in LaSalle, he had three paper routes. When he was just 10, he scrubbed kitchen floors for money to help his family. He also took a wagon to the train yards and picked up fallen lumps of coal for the furnace. As a teenager, he painted houses for cash to help his family's finances. He joined in the U.S. Navy at 17, and served as an aircraft mechanic during the Korean War. He came home and worked at various jobs. Then he found his calling. He joined the Niagara Falls Police Department. He served 50 years as a police officer, spending most of those years as a Captain. He was a graduate of the 126th Session of the elite FBI National Academy. He also graduated from many Police, Fire and Public Safety courses over the years. He was a NY State Certified Firefighter, volunteering for over 20 years with the Cambria Volunteer Fire Co. He was assigned to many commands over his years in the Police Department, including Patrol, Internal Affairs, the Detective Bureau and the Organized Crime Task Force. He served as Chief of Homicide and of Juvenile Aid. He also spent many years as Co-Director of the Niagara County Law Enforcement Academy. His first love, however, was Patrol. He ended his Police career at age 70, in 2002, He was Commander, for a second time, of his beloved "B" Platoon. After retiring, he immediately began work with NY State Racing and Wagering. He helped set up the State's system at the new Seneca Niagara Casino. He worked there for several years before retiring to travel the Eastern US in his motor-home with his wife and dog. He also enjoyed cruises on Regent Cruise Lines, most recently in Europe and the Caribbean, and tending to his beloved roses. He was an Exempt and Life Member of the Cambria Volunteer Fire Dept. He served as an active Firefighter, as well as in Fire Police. He was also President for several terms, and a member of the Board of Directors for many years. Jim was also very active and multiple time president of the LaSalle Lion's Club for many years. A celebration of life service will be celebrated on Sunday, November 12, 2017, at 2:00 pm at Immaculate Conception RC Church, 4671 Townline Rd., (Rte. 429), Ransomville with the Rev. She belonged to Angel Gowns of WNY, she worked at the Niagara County Migrant and Rual Ministry and she was a member of Saint John the Baptist Church. Grayce is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Michael Dietz, her children Darci Garcia, Michael Dietz and Lauren Dietz, her grandchildren Jesse M. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Pietro and Maria Fontanarosa; and beloved husband of Antoinette (Gagliardo) Fontanarosa, who he married at St. Joseph Church in 1950. Guido was raised in Niagara Falls and served in the United States Marines until his honorable discharge in 1947. Guido had a tireless work ethic and was a master stone mason. He began working as a bricklayer for many years prior to joining his son’s company, Fontanarosa Construction Company. Guido was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending numerous hunting seasons over the years at his cabin in the Southern Tier with his sons, grandchildren, nephews and friends. He also enjoyed tending to his garden, but above all, Guido’s life was centered around his beloved family who will miss him dearly. Guido proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, serving in Germany from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955. On June 11, 1955, he married Dolores (Quigliano) Mistriner. Guido was employed in the printing business for 50 years, working for Warder Paper Box, Fose Printing, Human-Wahl Printing, and Shipman Printing Industries, all in Niagara Falls, NY. He was a lifelong and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing, bike riding and walking. Above all, the love of his life was his wife, children and grandchildren. He cherished every moment he spent with them. 7194 | Guy S. "Mike" Philbrick, 73, of North Tonawanda, died Monday, November 2, 2009 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital. Mr. Philbrick was born June 15, 1936 in Niagara Falls, the son of the later Dorothy E. (Philbrick) Mallam and the late Dr. Guy S. Philbrick, and step-son of the late James Mallam. He graduated from LaSalle High School and attended Niagara University.He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1955 to 1960 and received an Honorable Discharge in June 1964. In 1978 he joined the Army Reserve and became a member of the 865th Evac Hospital out of Niagara Falls Reserve Center. In 1990 he was called to active duty as part of Desert Shield and Desert Storm and deployed with the 365th Evac Hospital. Among his decorations, medals, badges, citations and campaign ribbons awarded or authorized were the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, U.S. Marine Corp Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal. When he returned from operation Desert Storm he was assigned to the 865th General Hospital, Niagara Falls. In 1995 he retired from the Armed Forces with 25 years of service.Over the years he worked for Howard Johnson's Restaurant and the Ramada Inn in Niagara Falls. He worked for the Remington Rand Corp, Tonawanda, Bell Aerosystems in Wheatfield. During 1964 thru 1967, he owned and operated Wurlitzer Park Mobil Station in North Tonawanda. In 1982 he was appointed to become a New York State Correction officer. In January 2002 he retired from the Department of Corrections after 20 years of service.He previously attended St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Niagara Falls. He was a life member of the Conrad F. Born August 2, 1915 in Newfoundland, daughter of the late Jesse and Mildred Poole.Mrs. Molnar graduated nursing school as a registered nurse in 1939 in St. John's Newfoundland. In 1945 she began working at DeGraff Memorial. In 1947 she married Paul Molnar who owned Molnar's Restaurant on River Road. From that time until their retirement in 1969, Mrs. Molnar co-managed the restaurant with her husband.For over seventy years, Gwen Poole Molnar had entertained friends and family with special occasion missives and poems. For over 60 years Mrs. Molnar lived in North Tonawanda, where in the 1980's she wrote a column called "Seniors on the Move" for the Tonawanda News.Mrs. Molnar was a member of the Church at Shawnee Landing and a regular at the DeGraff Nurses Retirees Dinners. She also was an avid reader and a top notch Scrabble player.Mrs. Molnar was predeceased by her husband, Paul, who passed away in 1990. She is survived by her children, Gail P. 7196 | H. Audrey Mayer of Town of Cambria, NY, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, in the Lockport Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born in Lockport, NY, on March 18, 1926, the daughter of the late Thomas and Jessie [Cunningham] Purtell. Mrs. Mayer graduated from Lockport Senior High School in 1944. She was a secretary for various businesses in the area, retired from the William Hirsch Law Firm after many years, She was a member of the National Secretary Association. Mrs. Mayer enjoyed spending time with her family and bowling. She was the wife of 71 years to the late Thomas J. Mayer, Sr., who passed away September of 2017. Mrs. Mayer is survived by her children Thomas (Deborah) Mayer and Debra (Martin) Perilli, a daughter in law Susan Mayer, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Kenneth Mayer and Kathy Mayer and sister of the late Thelma Gillis. Funeral Services will be held at a future date. Alles, 53, of Niagara Falls Blvd., Town of Wheatfield, died Saturday (April 18, 1959) at Memorial Hospital after a heart attack at his home., Born in Newsteadt, Ont., he came to Niagara Falls 36 years ago. Mr. Alles was an operator at the Carborundum Co. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Bergholtz. He was also a fireman at the First Volunteer Fire Co. of Bergholtz and was a member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Laura Alles, Town of Wheatfield; his mother, Mrs. John Alles, Ayton, Ont.; one son, John W. Alles, Town of Wheatfield; one daughter, Mrs. Geraldine M. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and of the St. Johnsburg Volunteer Fire Co. Mr. Siegmann was formerly employed at the Buffalo Bolt Co. here, for 15 years, until the time of the plant closing. He also operated a small farm on the Errick Road property. Mr. Hacker was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, and a retired employe of the North Tonawanda Postal Dept. working there 37 years.
