8101 | Jeanne E. Behm, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Niagara Hospice House. Born August 21, 1920 to William and Henrietta Martin, Jeanne was a lifelong resident of Lockport, NY. She enjoyed spending 62 summers at her seasonal home in the 1000 Islands, where this recent summer, she celebrated her 102nd birthday. Jeanne treasured her many lifelong friends and sadly watched as those numbers dwindled, but always happily recalled their wonderful shared memories with her ever sharp mind. She is predeceased by her husband Delbert Behm, sisters Lorraine Cavill, Dorothy Desemo, and brother Carl Martin. Jeanne was the mother of Anne Bannister of Fairport, NY and David (late Nancy) Behm of Lockport, NY; grandmother of Alison (Kevin) Trapper, Lindsay (Michael) Swanson, and Christopher (Amanda) Bannister; great grandmother of Emma, Sean, Molly, and Patrick Trapper, Dylan and Ryan Swanson, and Evan and James Bannister. The family would like to thank the volunteers of Lockport Meals-On-Wheels and friends Fran Schyve, Joan Eickmyer, and Larry Lochner, all of whom provided the loving support that allowed Jeanne to remain living independently in her Lockport home. 8102 | JEANNETTE DEBAN, RETIRED TEACHER, LIBRARIAN Buffalo News, February 1, 2004 Jeannette DeBan, a retired teacher and librarian, died Saturday (Jan. 31, 2004) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a long battle with cancer. She was 81. Born Jeannette Faddoul in Niagara Falls, she was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and received a bachelor's degree in education from Buffalo State Teachers College in 1944 and a master's in library science from the University of Chicago in 1949. After graduating from Buffalo State, she was a civilian employee of the Navy during and after World War II. She served at Navy Pier in Chicago and later was acting director of the library at St. Albans Naval Hospital in Queens. In that job she helped paralyzed and amputee war-wounded veterans learn to use devices that could help them use printed materials, including books. In 1951, she married U.S. Air Force Lt. Harry G. DeBan. They lived on military bases in Texas, MS and Georgia before returning to Niagara Falls at the end of the Korean War. They moved to Wheatfield, where they resided for 50 years. Mrs. DeBan taught in rural schools in Georgia and later throughout Niagara County. She established libraries at Bishop Duffy High School in Niagara Falls and at DeSales High School in Lockport. She was a library media specialist with the Niagara Wheatfield School District for 18 years and had received the district's Teacher of the Year award. She was active in Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, a national honor society for women educators. She was a delegate to national conventions; past president of the chapter; and past state historian. For many years, she coordinated the chapter's annual donation of books to the Niagara-Wheatfield School District. Mrs. DeBan also was a member of New York State United Teachers; the first elected president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Niagara Council 247, Knights of Columbus; a 50-year member, past regent and vice regent of Court Niagara 662, Daughters of the Americas; Town of Wheatfield and Our Lady of Lebanon Church Senior Citizens groups; and a longtime member of St. Francis Guild of Mount St. Mary's Hospital, where she volunteered in the gift shop. Mrs. DeBan also was an avid reader and did crafts in copper, leather and ceramics. She also was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and before that Our Lady of Lebanon Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Harry M. and Armand, both of Wheatfield, Denis of Etowah, N.C., and Gary of Newfane; four daughters, Marsha Smith of Las Vegas, Cynthia Meisenzahl of Rochester, Deborah Haseley of Wheatfield and Donna Maggard of Sagamore Hills, OH; a sister, Selma Washburn of Niagara Falls; two brothers, Joseph Faddoul of Niagara Falls and George Faddoul of Town of Niagara; and nine grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 A.M. Wednesday in Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls. 8103 | Jeannie Joan Becker, age 82, of Moorestown, NJ., passed away on April 28th, 2023 at her home with her husband by her side. Jeannie was born on January 5th, 1941 in San Diego, California to Henry Kuhns and Anna Marcovna Resnik. She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother when she was just 11 years old. As a naval officer, Jeannie served in the Pentagon on the CNO’s communication staff, and as education officer at a naval air station. She appeared in some recruiting films. After her time in the Navy, Jeannie raised her family, taught preschool and served as a radio host with WBZC, a station with Burlington County College, developing new programs (“Storyvine” and “Time Out for Jazz”) and interviews. After WBZC, she was the host of Princeton University’s WPRB’s "Sunday Morning Jazz," a weekly program, for over ten years, until about three years ago when she felt her progressive illness made her drives north to Princeton too risky. She dedicated herself to the program and the station, spending much of her week, at her computer, listening and preparing her playlist and planning interviews. Jeannie assembled a large collection of jazz recordings in the process of doing her shows. Jeannie graduated from San Diego State College where she received her degree in Psychology. She was an active member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church of Moorestown for over 40 years. The following is a quote from one of her colleagues at WPRB on hearing of her death: [Jeannie] will be remembered [there] never anyone kinder than Jeannie, more generous, more selfless, more beautiful. She was beloved by her listeners. When a Jewish person passes, it is tradition to say, "May her memory be a blessing." With Jeannie, there is no question that her memory shall always be a blessing.” Jeannie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Wayne Becker, her son Matthew Becker and his partner Lisa Lechniak her son Aaron Becker and his wife Therese, her daughter Tanya Barnett and her husband Aaron, her daughter Anna Eisenberg and her husband Ross, and her son Andrew Becker. She is also survived by her sister Annette Ragsdale and her brother Arthur Kuhns. Jeannie had 6 grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 at 12 pm, with visitation starting at 10:30 am till service time at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, located at 318 Chester Ave. in Moorestown, NJ. 8104 | Jeannine Frances Henry, born March 17, 1933 on a snowy Winter day to Arthur and Frances [Braddell] Smith, passed away to be with her loving Jesus Christ our loving Lord and savior on March 16, 2015, under the care of her family, close friends and Niagara Hospice. She attended Gaskill Jr. High, LaSalle Sr. High and graduated from Trott Vocational. She was employed at Carborundum and later became a secretary at the Tuscarora Indian School and at Edward Town Jr. High School until her retirement. Mrs. Henry played softball for Carborundum and in the Tuscarora Baptist Church league. She then coached girls softball and played for the Tuscarora Women's basketball team, traveling throughout Canada and Western New York. She was an avid bowler in which she won a New York State doubles tournament. Upon her retirement she enjoyed the warmth of Bradenton, FL for 16 years at Palm Lake Estates where she developed many lasting friendships. She enjoyed planting flowers, reading, picture puzzles, baking and cooking family dinners. Mrs. Henry was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star 374 in Ransomville, NY and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years Chief Leo Henry, two daughters Sherry (Wayne) Printup and Heidi (Bill Luksic) Henry, one grandson Jesse (Desiree) Printup, two great grandchildren Meadow and River Printup, also many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Jeff was a 1967 graduate of South Newton High School and served in the United States Marines. His marriage was to Bonnie Wynkoop in 1973. He worked as a maintenance technician for 35 years. 8118 | Jennie A. (Colosimo) Lazzaro, 90 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on December 10, 2017 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. Born December 3, 1927 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Leone) Colosimo. Jennie moved to the Niagara Falls area with her family as a child and attended local schools. On November 4, 1950, she married James Lazzaro at St. Joseph’s Church in Niagara Falls. Mr. Lazzaro predeceased her in 1986. For twenty years, Jennie managed the housekeeping department of Niagara Geriatric and Rehabilitation Center in Niagara Falls until her retirement in 1995. Jennie was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of Prince of Peace Church. She was also a passionate Buffalo Bills fan. Above all, Jennie will be remembered as ‘Aunt Jennie’, as she was affectionately known by all who knew her, and the love and devotion she had for her family. Jennie is survived by her sister, Angeline (late Robert) (late Teddy) Callen-Krawczyk, her brother, Richard (Josie) Colosimo; nieces, RosAnne (James) O’Hara and Ellen (Thomas) Grenke as well as several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was preceded by her husband of 76 years, Norman Bilski. 8122 | Jenny Ferlito, 91, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully with her family on Saturday, July 29, 2023. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Maria (Trapasso) Schiro. Jenny was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. On December 22, 1951, she married her beloved husband, James ‘Jim’ Ferlito at St. Joseph’s Church. Jim was drafted during the Korean War. She was without him for 18 months. They exchanged many letters and she attended novenas for his safe return home. Jenny worked at Moore Business Forms, the A&P and throughout the Niagara Falls School District as a Teacher’s Aide at Niagara Falls High School and G.J. Mann school for many years prior to her retirement. Jenny loved working with the students and staff who she regarded as very dear friends. Upon her retirement from Niagara Falls school district, Jenny and Jim joined the family business, The Country Cottage Restaurant in Pendleton, NY, a place they both adored. Employees and customers knew her as “Grandma”. Jenny hostessed and engaged in conversations with everyone. She knew customers by name and loved asking about their families. She would make them feel welcome and everyone enjoyed seeing her at the register as they would check out. Jenny was present at the Country Cottage smiling and waving at everyone a week prior to her passing. The restaurant was a place she loved. Jenny and Jim were longtime members of the Moose Lodge, and enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Lake Tahoe. They enjoyed bowling and participated in several local bowling leagues. Jenny loved going to the Casino, but above all, she cherished her family. Nothing was more important to her than her parents, husband, sisters, children, grandchildren and great-children. This love was always expressed around the table at Sunday dinners. She cooked weekly without fail. The table was always perfectly set, and her famous meatballs and bones were always coveted. Her home was always open and she welcomed everyone. We always had a room upstairs to come home to. She made certain her grandchildren were in church, were fed, had fun and never went without anything. Jenny was an incredible woman who loved deeply, enjoyed people and always reminded her family how grateful she was for everyone. Jenny lived at home and was very active up until her passing, which was a gift. Jenny was predeceased by her husband in 2020. She is survived by her son, Thomas (Cheryl) Ferlito; her grandchildren, Aliscia (Richard) Krecisz, Nicole Ferlito (Douglas ‘Jay’ Hamilton), Anthony Ferlito (Danielle Ranney), Tommy Ferlito, Jimmy Ferlito, III, Jamie (John) Bernier, and Joey (Randi) Ferlito and Johnathan Ferlito; her great-grandchildren, Izabella and Sofia Krecisz, Jaydan, Savanna, and Trevor Ferlito, Dominic Ferlito, Emma and Jackson Bernier, and Aiden and Aria Ferlito; her nephew, Jeffery Wilson, as well as several other beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. 8123 | Jerald F. Lehman, age 80, of the Town of Wheatfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2020. He was born June 19, 1939 in Niagara Falls, to Frank and Mildred Lehman. He was a 1957 graduate of North Tonawanda High School. He was very active in organizing events not only for the Class of ‘57 but also various other classes. His stamp on his high school and the friends he made throughout the years will leave an everlasting impression on all of us. He married Barbara Bach on August 5, 1961. Jerry served honorably in the United States Army from 1960-1966. He worked for the Operating Engineers, Carborundum and the New York State Power Authority where he happily retired in 2005. Jerry truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as watching football games with his sons and calling them when he wasn’t able to be there in person. He also loved boating. Spending time with his grandchildren was his greatest pleasure. He enjoyed 58 years of marriage with his wonderful wife “Barbara Jean his teenage queen.” Jerry had an amazing talent of making anyone that stepped into his front door feel like family. His constant charisma and devotion to his family and friends made him the admirable man that everyone knew him to be and love. Jerry and Barb enjoyed 15 years of spending winters in their home in Clermont Florida with their many friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; three sons, Jeffrey (Marilyn), Michael (Susan), and Scott (Nicole Tomsen). Jerald, also known to family and friends as “Jerry” and “Mooch”, attended local schools and then served in the United States Army from 1976 until 1979. On February 10, 1979, Jerry married the love of his life, Robin M. Cirrito. In 1995, he earned his associates degree in accounting from Niagara County Community College. Jerry was employed as a laborer and truck driver for various local companies. He was an avid sports fan, loved baking his famous pie crusts and homemade macaroni and cheese, coaching baseball, landscaping, and helping and socializing with his neighbors. Above all, Jerry loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandson. As a small child, began his love of working with his hands, he was especially mechanically gifted. His interests were motorsports; building and dirt biking. 8129 | Jerome Charles Bucolo passed into eternal life on February 25th, 2024 at the age of 89. He was born November 5th, 1934 to Joseph and Mary (Corriere) Bucolo. Beloved husband, soulmate and ‘general’ to Cynthia (Sawicki) Bucolo. For 37 years he was the concrete rock of our family; stepfather/Dad to Robert Crummet and Christina (Jeffrey) Crummet; greatest Papa to Molly and Maisie Crummet; dearest son-in-law of Judith Sawicki (late Chester); brother-in-law to Kenneth Sawicki; pre-deceased by his 10 siblings: Frances Pusateri-McKay, Rose Loiacano, Santo, Theresa, Michael, James, Michael, Anna, Lena Cummings, and Delia Martin; and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews, cousins and good friends. Jerry started his life-long masonry contracting career as a teenager working for his father in the concrete and cinder block manufacturing business. He later worked for his brother Santo before partnering up with his brothers Mike and Jim under Bucolo Brothers Concrete. Jerry later split off on his own as J.C. Bucolo Concrete where he became Lockport’s concrete Legend while teaching the trade to the next generation of nephews and many Ray Brigham workers. Jerry continued his concrete passion and could be seen on job sites until he was 87 years old. Jerry graduated from DeSales high school in 1953 where he excelled in athletics, playing football, basketball, and baseball with his good friends Tony Villella, Frank Danna, Bill Kirsch and of course his favorite teammate, Father Joe Dumphrey. Jerry served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1963. When Jerry was not pouring concrete, he enjoyed spending his time with family and friends, taking in races at the track, winning big at the casino, looking after his cherished dog Missy and later all of the neighborhood cats. In his final days he rested comfortably at home under the loving care of family and Niagara Hospice. Relatives and friends will be invited to a Memorial Mass in the spring. 8132 | Jerry D. Parenti, 80, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, October 1, 2018 while under the care of his home aides and Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Gino and Ida (Bindi) Parenti. Jerry attended local schools and obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Niagara University. He also served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. On July 4, 1964, he married his beloved wife, Mary Parenti at Prince of Peace Church. They spent 51 loving years together until her passing on April 5, 2016. Mr. Parenti founded the Parenti Accounting Group and served the community as an excellent accountant for many years until retiring and passing the business on. He also retired as a teacher from Niagara Falls High School after 32 years of dedication. Jerry was a health and fitness advocate. He enjoyed fulfilling his leisure time working out at the gym and having coffee with friends. Above all, Jerry was devoted to his family who he especially enjoyed spending time with. He will forever be remembered as a fun-loving gentlemen with a great sense of humor. Mr. Parenti is survived by four children Gary Parenti, Karen (Gordon) Porterfield, Michael (Elaine) Sojka-Parenti and Lisa (Michael) Nunzio; three grandchildren Travis Porterfield, Allison Nunzio and Nicholas Nunzio; his best friend and sister, Laura Mascaro and her husband, Pete Mascaro, who was like the brother he never had. He served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1974, serving in Vietnam and was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal/with Bronze Star and FMF Device Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal/ and the National Defense Service Medal. 8138 | Jessica L. Gauda-Lane, 41, of Baldwinsville, NY passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, after a courageous battle with breast cancer, with her family at her side. She was born in North Tonawanda, NY a daughter of Dennis E. Gauda and the late Hilda M. Gauda. Jessica attended North Tonawanda High School, Class of 2000 and completed her education obtaining her Masters and Bachelors Degrees in Elementary education and teaching. She started her career in teaching in Maryland and Sidney, NY prior to coming to the Syracuse area. Up until her illness, Jessica was employed as the Vice Principal at Porter Elementary School in the Syracuse City School District. In 2014, she was united in marriage to Ian E. Lane. They have been residents of Baldwinsville for the past four years, raising their children. Jessica was a selfless soul who was devoted to her family and faith. She was adventurous, enjoying many trips traveling the country. Throughout her illness, her tenacious demeanor allowed her to still focus on helping others. She was an active member of METAvivor, trying to increase awareness of advanced stage metastatic breast cancer, equity in research and patient support. Jessica was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. She is predeceased by her mother, Hilda M. Gauda in 2007. Surviving to cherish her memory is her husband, Ian E. Lane; adored children, Easton H. Lane and Eliza E. Lane; her father, Dennis E. Gauda; two sisters, Estella M. Bullwinkle and Angela M. Clancy; her father and mother-in-law, Edward F. and Janice M. 8142 | Jim Schotz, 84, of Wilson entered into rest at his home suddenly on Saturday, December 17th, 2016. Born January 3rd, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY, Jim is the son of the late Howard and Eva (Jull) Schotz. The Schotz Family moved to Wilson in 1939 where Howard Schotz began produce farming. Jim had two passions in life, one being farming. He was active in farming his entire life, operating a dairy farm from 1952 until 1997 and then continued crop farming activites until 2014. Jim was also extremely active in promoting the dairy industry and served in many leadership capacities with the Niagara Milk Co-Op, O-AT-KA Milk Products, Milk For Health on the Niagara Frontier and the Niagara Frontier Milk Producers Bargaining Agency. Jim’s other passion was the South Wilson Volunteer Fire Department, where he was a founding member in 1952. Jim again served in many leadership capacities at SWFC, including being a long serving Assistant Chief and the standing President of the Fire Department. Many would remember Jim as the ticket taker during Lenten bruches. Jim also served on the Town of Wilson Assesment Board of Review for nearly 40 years. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene. He is survived by three sons, Alex (Holly), Steve(Terra) and John (Marcia); daughter, Sharon; two grandchildren, Geoffrey and Marah; sister Pauline Alvers, Sister-in-law Mona (George) Baker, numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends. 8143 | Jimmy Bieliski, of Medina, went home to be with the Lord on Christmas morning, 2015. Jimmy was born in Medina, July 5, 1946, the son of Audrey (Baehr) Bieliski and the late Edward Vincent Bieliski. A graduate of Medina High School, class of 1964, he married the former Donna D. Board on September 10, 1966. He was employed by Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation, as a service man, for 32 years, retiring on his birthday in 2001. Jimmy was an avid drag racer. He was a member of the National Hot Rod Association Top Eliminator Club and for many years he raced at Lancaster Speedway, Cayuga Dragway and Niagara Dragway. He often traveled to Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio and Laconia with his sons. He was a life member of H.O.G. and loved riding his Harley. He enjoyed mowing his lawn and maintaining the Bieliski Compound on North Gravel Road. Jimmy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, William (Jennifer) Bieliski and James Scott (Amanda) Bieliski; his "son", Jonathan (Jennifer) Higgins; 5 grandchildren, Benjamin Bieliski, Mackenzi Nudd, Elsa, Jimmy and Annabel Bieliski; a great grandson, Landon Rath; his mother, Audrey Bieliski; two sisters, Nancy (Duane) Pender and Margo (Frank) Sarchia; sister-in-law, Terry (Dennis) Phebus; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Joan was a graduate of East Side High School and on June 18, 1955, she married Paul H. Bolton. They shared 67 wonderful years together, prior to Paul’s passing on September 20, 2022. Joan was employed by Jenss Department Store for 10 years until her retirement. She was an avid crafter; enjoying quilting, sewing and creating holiday decorations. Most of all Joan loved to bake and was well known for her Christmas cookies. Joan is survived by children Michael (Sharon Swift) Bolton, and Sandra (Barry Hart) Ellis; her grandchildren Ashley (Andy) Koehler and Andrew (Jennifer) Ellis; great grandchildren Gwendolyn Joan and Nathaniel Koehler, as well as many nieces and nephews. Joan worked for Ridge Road Express for 28 years as a school bus driver, transitioning to a school bus monitor during her final year before retiring. She enjoyed doing crafts, quilting, going to the casino, playing cards, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Joan married her late husband, James L. Felvus Sr. (1939-2007), on October 26, 1957. Together, they had eight children, James Jr. (Cheryl) Felvus, Jay (Emily) Felvus, Joanna Felvus, Jodi (Daniel) Zastrow, Jillinda Prentice, Jamie (Ginene) Felvus, Jodel Woods, and Jantel (Jeffrey) Andrews. Keicher for many years. Joan was very active and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in East Aurora, where she was an Eucharistic minister, including being a member of the Safari Club, International Kiwanis Club of Wales secretary, Central Railway Club of Buffalo, Wales Center Democratic Club, Election Inspector for the Town of Wales, secretary NYS Cattle Dealers Association, Chairperson of Town of Wales Conservation Board, secretary Erie County Chapter of Milk Producers to Farmers, and a representative to the NYS Beef Counsel. Joan supported the children and residents of the Town of Wales, in many ways. From the Easter egg hunts, senior Christmas parties and many various fund raisers (golf outings, soup & dinners, selling coupon books to Buffalo Bills pools) to arranging train rides for the physical and mentally challenged, where she viewed the residents as her family.Preceded in death by her husband, Arthur M. Keicher on February 10, 2011.
