Born in Clarion, PA on September 16, 1938; son of the late John and Julia (Smith) Aaron. John was employed for many years, as an equipment operator with the Town of Niagara Highway Department, until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, was a member of the Niagara Flyers, where he flew model planes near the reservoir, and a past member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club.John was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Aaron; his wife, Linda May Aaron; and sister, Betsy Manchester.Survivors include a daughter, Tami (Thomas) McNamara; and five grandchildren, Nicholas (Kelli), and John Zaccarella, Brooke McNamara, Ashley Burleson, and Marylynn (Ryan).A private graveside service will be held with the family, in the Ransomville Cemetery. Born December 8, 1952 in Lockport, John is the son of Rosemary (Moje) Miller and the late John A. Miller Sr. John graduated from Newfane High School. He served his country in the US Navy. John had worked at Equistar in Burt, NY, where they specialize in Therapeutic Riding, Home Depot and Tops Market. He also previously owned and operated PDQ Print Shop in Clarence,NY. Coming from a large family, John enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. John liked to coach his daughters in their softball league. He also enjoyed playing cards with his family especially his mother and sister. 8204 | John B. Knox, Jr., of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018, in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. He was born in Cleveland, OH, on March 31, 1921, the son of John B. and Emma [Carr] Knox, Sr. Mr. Knox moved to Sanborn with his family in the early 1930's. He attended West Street one room school and graduated from LaSalle High School and later from the University of Buffalo. Mr. Knox served with the US Army during World War II in the European Theater and fought in the Battle of the Bulge where he was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds that he received and the distinguished service medal. After the war, he became a Physical Education Teacher with the Buffalo School District, teaching at Schools #71 and #75 and also taught the blind and handicapped children for over 30 years before retiring. He also ran the family owned Knox Insurance Agency for many years which was started by his father. Mr. Knox was a member of the Sanborn American Legion and the Sanborn Fire Company. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing hockey. Mr. Knox is survived by his wife of 69 years Helen [Cindrich] Knox, two sons John B. (Deborah) Knox, III and Kevin (Suzanne) Knox, two daughters Cheryl (William) Jaback and Sharon (Sean) Deuby, three grandchildren Jessica (Craig) Axford, Jennifer Knox and Connor Deuby, also many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Edward J. Knox. He was born January 9, 1950 In Lockport, NY to Roger and Jean Middaugh, was a graduate of DeSales Catholic High School and attended Buffalo State College. John was the father of Cori Herbst and had four grandchildren. He moved to Naples, Fla and later relocated to Odessa, Texas. John Middaugh worked for the Beiter Insurance Agency, Moss Insurance Agency/Buffalo Fire Office, and later worked at the Lockport Tuscarora Club, Shamus Restaurant and Faces Restaurant in Lockport. 8206 | John Cappello, longtime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, October 8, 2016 after a brief illness. He was 102. He was born in Platania, Italy on February 23, 1914, a son of the late Antonio and Giovanna (Torchia) Cappello. He attended schools in Italy and then moved with his family to James City, Pennsylvania in 1928. John then moved to Niagara Falls in 1936, married Isabelle Napolitano in 1938 and they remained happily married for 69 years until her passing in 2006. He worked at Union Carbide for 35 years until his retirement in 1976. He enjoyed bowling and gardening and was an accomplished saxophone player. He is survived by three children: Joanne (Tom) Philbrick of Vero Beach, Florida, Caroline (late Vito) Lavango of Grand Island and John A. Cappello of Wilton Manors, Florida. He is also survived by two sisters: Angie (Pat) Scuttela and Mary (Eugene) Di Cello, sister-in-law Josephine (late Triest) Cappello, 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by three siblings: Lucille (late Victor) Orzetti, Michael (late Frances) Cappello and Triest (Josephine) Cappello. John served in the US Army from 1959 until 1961. After graduating from SUNY Brockport and getting his Masters Degree he taught for over 30 years for the Newfane Central School District. John was a life-long New York Yankees fan. He loved his 'second' home, the 1000 Islands, where he lived during the summer for over 60 years. Fishing and boating there was a big part of his entire life. He enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren about the history of the 1000 Islands region. He served proudly in the United States Army in Korea from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954. He married Lucille “Jean” (Parfinski) McCoy. Mrs. McCoy predeceased him on October 27, 2014. John was employed for over 30 years as a manager at Acme Markets in Niagara Falls and Buffalo, NY, and later worked in the same capacity at Tzetzo Brothers Wholesale in Niagara Falls for over 10 years. John was a former vice commander and longtime member at the VFW Post #917 in Niagara Falls. In his younger years, he was an avid baseball player, playing into his 50s, and also loved to bowl and play cards. He also enjoyed frequenting the casino. John worked as a farmer, mostly at Randleigh Farms, from 1946-1965. He was a milkman, farmer, and bus driver. John then went to work at Harrison Radiator until his retirement. He loved deer hunting. He raised and bred black and tan dogs to hunt with and sell. He and his wife went to many hunts together over the years and brought home many trophies. John was predeceased by his wife, Florence (Waters) Schwenz, who went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2003; and his daughter, Jennifer (Schwenz) Dodge. 8214 | John E. Coulter, 75, of Lewiston, NY, succumbed to esophageal and stomach cancer on January 7, 2020, after a four-year battle. Born in Lockport, NY, he was the son of the late Leonard “Spike” and Helen Coulter; and beloved husband of Phyllis (Daniels) Coulter, who he married in 1967 at the former Sacred Heart Church. John was raised in Barker, NY and graduated from Barker High School in 1962. Following his graduation, he obtained his Associate’s Degree in Machine Design from Erie Community College. John was employed by Harrison Radiator Corporation as a Machine Repair Machinist from 1963 until his retirement in 2005, after 42 years of dedicated service. He also served as the Union Steward of the United Auto Workers, acted as their Health and Safety Representative, and as an International UAW Health and Safety Instructor. Mr. Coulter was a 40-year member of the Kiwanis Club of Lewiston, where he was a board member for 15 years, served as the Hospitality Chairman for the Peach Festival and ran the annual Easter Egg Hunt. He was also a longtime member of the Lewiston Moose Club, Lockport Eagles Club and Lewiston Porter Community Jaycees. Mr. Coulter was a Devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Peter’s Church belonging to their Holy Name Society for 8 years and ushering for 4 years. He enjoyed soccer and represented the Niagara Pioneer Soccer Club for over 10 years as a travel team coach, coordinator and member on the Board of Directors. In his later years, he was the score keeper for the Niagara-Wheatfield Boys Soccer Team. He especially enjoyed playing Santa Claus for relatives and friends during the holiday season. Above all, Mr. Coulter was dedicated to his beloved family and community who will miss him dearly. In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by three children, Tina (Darren) Pike, John M. 8215 | John E. Grannis Sr., 86, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 7, 2023. Born in Philipsburg, PA, he was the son of the late August and Anna (Zezoney) Grannis Sr. John attended local schools in Pennsylvania, where he graduated from High School. When he was 18 years old, he relocated to Niagara Falls, NY. He proudly served in the United States Marines in 1955 until his honorable discharge. In 1957, he married the love of his life, Shirley Y. (Bowser) Grannis at St. Mary of the Cataract Church. John was employed as a Millwright with Allied Chemical in Grand Island, NY for 17 years, worked in Maintenance with the New York State Parks Department, and also worked as a Pulper Operator for Cascades/Norampac in Niagara Falls, NY for 14 years until his retirement in 1999. He was also a skilled painter and worked with various local painting companies. John was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He also loved to bowl. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, and will be remembered for being a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his wife of 66 years, John is survived by his children, John E. Grannis Jr., Cynthia A. (Joe) Defilippis, and Susan M. John moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1972 and worked for an engineering/construction company as a piping designer. He was an avid University of Michigan football fan. John met his wife, Linda (Snapp), on the softball field in 1975 and they married in 1978. They had two children and in 1991 moved to New Market, Maryland, working for the same engineering/construction company as an estimator. John retired in 2005 and they moved to Homosassa, Florida, where they lived for 12 years. He continued to play senior softball in Florida until his early 70s. They relocated to Greencastle, PA, in 2018 due to John's health. In addition to his wife of 42 years, he is survived by his two children, Ryan Lambert, and his wife, Sarah, of Hedgesville, WV, and Ashley Naylor, and her husband, Wayne, of Hagerstown, MD; five beautiful grandchildren who he will miss and dearly loved, Royce, Carter, Fiona, Langston, and Juniper; one sister, Deanna Wilson, of Franklin, KY; and a number of nieces and nephews. John was a foreman at Exelon-ESK in Tonawanda before retiring. He was a lifelong member of the Gastown Sportsmen's Club, St. Francis of Assisi Parish, and was an avid hunter, bowler and fisherman. He was the husband of the late Gloria J. McNamara, who died December 1, 2009; father of Keith (Sandra) McNamara of Cheektowaga, Nora Jean McNamara of Tonawanda, and the late Catherine L. Szczublewski, who died August 6, 2013. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. There is no visitation. He was born in DuBois, Pa., on April 30, 1924, the son of Michael and Theresa (Prochko) Elnicki. In 1941, he moved to Niagara Falls. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, and was wounded in Normandy. He received the Purple Heart. Mr. Elnicki was employed by the Carborundum Co. as a lathe operator. He retired in 1983. He enjoyed golf, bowling, hunting and gardening. He was a member of St. Leo's Roman Catholic Church. Mr. Elnicki is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margaret (Masceri) Elnicki of Lewiston; a son, John Jeffrey Elnicki of Sanborn; four brothers, Nicholas Elnicki, Joseph Elnicki and Andrew Elnicki, all of DuBois, and Paul Elnicki of Niagara Falls; three sisters, Anne Zedick of DuBois, Olga Brown of Greenville, S.C., and Nettie Muscato of Duarte, Calif.; a grandson; and several nieces and nephews. John was the son of Erwin and Marjorie (Smith) Witkop. He was employed at General Motors for 30 years. After retiring, he was bored so he then went to work at Ridge Road Express, driving for the Starpoint School District, and really enjoyed his time with the kids. John served in the United States Army for two years in Panama. He was a lifelong member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Pekin, NY. John enjoyed woodworking, attending sporting events for his children and grandchildren, going to the casino, and spending quality time with his family. Kroening, 15, of Upper Mountain Road, . former Town. of Cambria supervisor, died Saturday (Nov. 8, 1997) in Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, after being struck by an automobile. He was responding to the scene of an automobile accident with the Cambria Fire Co. on North Ridge Road near Church Road, when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle while crossing the street. He was born Oct. 28. 1922, in Niagara Falls, the son of Elmer and Elsie (Walck) Kroening. He and his family moved to Sanborn when he was an ...... Mr. Kroening later to the family farm (sic) in Cambria when he was 8 years old. He attended LaSalle High School. Mr. Kroening served as the supervisor of Cambria from 1970 to 1993, and as a councilman for 15 years before becoming supervisor. He also worked at the former Wurlitzer Co. and the National Grinding Wheel for a few years before becoming a full-time dairy farmer. He was a charter member of the Cambria Volunteer Fire County, founded in 1944, where he served as chief from 1952. to 1957. He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Ridge, and a former member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Pekin, where he served as treasurer from 1952 to 1955 and as chairman in 1969. Mr. Kroening was a former director of the Niagara County Extension Service and served on the Niagara County Agricultural Stabilization Committee. He loved our town, said June, his wife of 45 years. He always treated the town's money just as if it was his own. A no-nonsense sort of guy was how Councilman George J. Bush described Kroening. Farmers don't really talk between the lines, he said, adding that Kroening had approached him years ago to serve on the town's Recreation Commission. Even though Bush just said he would think about it, the next thing he knew, he had been appointed. Although Kroening wore a pacemaker and had some health problems the past few years, his wife said you couldn't keep him from doing things as he still loved riding his tractor and helping out others. In addition to his wife, June E. He graduated from Buffalo State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Minor in Science Education. He went on to earn his Master’s Degree from Niagara University in Education. John was employed as the Director of Purchasing at OLV Hospital in Lackawanna, NY. He then resumed his teaching career, where he worked as a Mathematics Teacher in the Niagara Falls City School District for over 10 years. John was the President of LaSalle Little League where he coached both of his sons and volunteered for over 15 years, leading their teams to multiple City Championships. He was an avid fan of the Oakland A’s. John enjoyed walking the Outlet Mall daily and having coffee in the food court with his regular crew of friends. More than anything, John lived for his family. He was a mainstay at all of his grandchildren’s’ baseball, softball and swimming events, and always kept impeccable statistics on spreadsheets to record their batting averages and times. The family would like to acknowledge Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for the care and support shown to John and his family. Heuer, 79, a charter member of the First Volunteer Fire Company of Bergholz, died today in DeVeaux Manor Nursing Home in Niagara Falls. Mr. Heuer, of 6906 Errick Road, Wheatfield, was a lifelong resident of that town, and a member of St. James Lutheran Church and the St. James Brotherhood. A long-time fire chief in Bergholz, he was a member of many volunteer firemen's and fire chiefs associations. These included the Niagara County Volunteer Fire Chiefs Association, New York State Association of Fire Chiefs, Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association, State of New York Firemen's Association and Western New York Firemen's Association. He also was a member of the Retired Men's Service Club of the Niagara Frontier, the Wheatfield Democratic Club and the Senior Citizens of the Town of Wheatfield. In 1966, he received the Fire Service Award of the Western New York Volunteer Firemen's Association for "betterment of fire service in the community." Mr. DiLaura was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Church. He enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards with his DOT buddies and was an avid Yankees fan. Mr. DiLaura was the husband of the late Elena J. [Baldisarra] DiLaura who passed away October 18, 2001, they were married for 53 years. He is survived by his three daughters, Mary-Jo (Larrie) Dawkins, Elena [late Joseph] Bruno, Marguerite (Jack) Hicks, two sons, Ronald [Lori] DiLaura, Michael-John (Donna) DiLaura, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren several nieces and nephews. 8236 | John J. Hanrahan, affectionately known as Jack, passed away peacefully at home in Lewiston, NY, on January 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 21, 1941, in Niagara Falls, NY, to Matthew J. and Olivia S. (nee Blackley) Hanrahan. Jack graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1960 and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Calcaterra from 1962 to 1964, receiving an Honorable Discharge. Afterward, he worked as an auto mechanic before beginning a long career with Leaseway Transportation, where he retired after 31 years of dedicated service. In 1966, Jack married Beverley Blain, and together they raised two children, Michael and Debbie. The family lived in Niagara Falls and later settled in Lewiston, NY, where Jack became a well-loved member of the community. Jack had a great sense of humor and a warm, easy laugh that brought joy to everyone around him. He was a gifted storyteller, captivating audiences with his wit and charm. A man of steadfast friendships, Jack maintained lifelong bonds, staying close to everyone who stood beside him on his wedding day in 1966. He could still name everyone in his first-grade class photo, including his teacher, Lorraine Steffan of Dunkirk, who he's always kept in touch with. They've exchanged birthday and Christmas cards for decades. Jack loved camping trips with his family and exploring the beauty of the outdoors. When his son's troop needed a Scoutmaster, Jack stepped in, inspiring other dads to get involved and join their sons on camping adventures. Jack and Beverley later expanded their travels, exploring all of North America in their RV, creating countless cherished memories along the way. A dedicated member of the Lewiston Kiwanis Club, Jack earned numerous honors throughout his decades of service. In 1988, he was named Kiwanian of the Year, and in 1991, he received the prestigious George F. Hixon Award, recognizing his contributions to the organization. He served as Club President in 2000 and advanced to Lt. Governor of the Niagara North Division in 2002, representing eight clubs in the region. In 2017, Jack was honored with the Anton “Tony” Kaiser Award, the highest distinction in the New York District of Kiwanis, reflecting his exceptional commitment to the community and the Kiwanis mission. In 2024, Jack received the New York District Kiwanis Distinguished Service Award, the organization's highest honor for a "grassroots Kiwanian." This prestigious award recognizes an unsung hero whose tireless dedication and commitment to improving the lives of disadvantaged community members often go unnoticed. Jack’s unwavering efforts and quiet leadership embodied the spirit of this award, which is presented to only one Kiwanian each year at the district's annual convention. His recognition underscored a lifetime of service and his profound impact on both his club and the community. Jack was deeply proud of his grandchildren, August and Felicia, who reside in McKinleyville, CA. Despite the distance, he stayed closely connected with them, often using his computer to keep in touch. He especially cherished watching them open Christmas presents every year via Zoom. Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marilyn and Gordon Polych of Jordan, Ontario, niece Bonnie Rosts of St Catherines, Ontario and close friend Mary Ecker of Youngstown. John was born on June 11, 1935 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Jonas and Martha (Pfohl) Haseley. John attended Wilson Central High School. He served two years in the U.S. Army based in Fort Hood, TX, with overseas duty in Germany. Together with his wife Jean, they owned and operated the John J. Haseley & Son farm and greenhouses in Sanborn, NY, for many years. John was a dedicated life member of the Sanborn Fire Company and served as Fire Chief from 1968 to 1971. John was also a member of the fire company band. John also served as a Town of Lewiston police officer with the rank of Sergeant, graduating from the Niagara County Law Enforcement Academy in 1977. After retirement to Florida, John worked as a heavy equipment operator. John enjoyed deer hunting all his life with his son, brother, family and friends. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Josephine (Ziblut) Polka. John graduated from LaSalle High School in 1952. On June 18, 1955, John married his childhood sweetheart, Carol F. (Bartus) Polka. Mrs. Polka predeceased him on October 16, 2017. They were introduced at an early age by their grandparents who had immigrated to America from Poland on the same ship. John worked in the Family Restaurant (Polka’s) and designed several motels for owners along Pine Avenue. He designed and built the Starlite Motel on his mother’s property, which opened in 1954 and was operated for 25 years by his mother. John was employed for 35 years with National Fuel Gas in Buffalo, NY as Junior Draftsman, Senior Draftsman, and after attending evening classes at Erie Community College to learn construction technology, was promoted to Supervisor of Surveying and retired as Manager of Surveying in 1992. John enjoyed traveling to Western Kentucky and visiting the Grand Canyon, photography, and caring for his Yorkshire Terrier, Frankie. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. John enjoyed daily coffee club with his friends at McDonald’s, as well as spending time with his friends at DMR Hardware. John was notably honored to serve as the hairdresser for the Miss USA Pageant in Niagara Falls from 1974 to 1976. Beyond his professional life, John found happiness in tending to his garden and decorating his home. Above all, he dedicated his life to his family, who will miss him dearly. 8247 | JOHN M. BAIRD, JR., age 72 of Wheatfield, NY, entered into rest on August 22, 2018 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on May 17, 1946; son of the late John and Dorothea (Tucker) Baird, Sr. John attended local schools and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, and earned the high honor of Eagle Scout. He was also a troublemaker in his youth, and once "borrowed" a train out of the Niagara Fallstrainyard. When he offered to take his mother for a ride, she refused and told him to take it back. John was inducted to I.B.E.W. Local 237 in January of 1969, and retired February of 2002. He served on the Apprentice Board, was Chairman of the Executive Board, and was on the Board of Trustees. John served as President of IBEW from 1980-1984. He loved showing his skills as an electrician and taught many younger classes to follow in his footsteps. John loved the Brotherhood, Camaraderie and especially the friendships he made. He was the first to be requested as the General Foreman by out of town contractors, and was well respected. John also served as Treasurer of the Niagara Power Coalition for a few years. He was an enthusiastic race car owner with his racing partner Dan Skurski, in the 1970's, and a fan of the sport, and all classic cars. His favorite thing was to pick up treats and bring them to every place he frequented, the bank, doctors offices, the water department, the Union Hall, to his daughters work, his sisters in law work, and any bar he had ever been in. John always took care of "his girls". John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 38 years, Donna Zuba Baird; his daughter, Kristina (Josh) Nowak; brothers, Ed (Linda) Baird of Pittsford, William (Karen) Baird of Lewiston; sisters in law, Debbie (Russell) Calvello of Niagara Falls, Denise (Tom) Reiter of Hilton; and many nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and Union Brothers. John loved all the "Little Magoos", and took great enjoyment in buying the noisiest toys to drive their parents mad. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Margaret (Bongiovanni) Deuro. John was raised in Niagara Falls, attending local schools and graduated from Trott Vocational High School. He proudly served in the US Army, from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1954 at the rank of Sgt. During that time, he was a radio operator and a mine sweeper while serving in Korea with the 25th Div. On June 30, 1956, he married Geraldine “Jere” A. (DeMunda) Deuro at St. Joseph’s Church. Mrs. Deuro predeceased him on August 16, 2019 after 63 years of marriage. John worked in construction and was Vice President of Booth-DeMunda Lumber Company for over 20yrs. He was also employed at Carborundum Abrasives and retired from Oxy Chemical in Niagara Falls, NY. He was a member of the Elks BPOE Lodge #346, Moose Lodge, V.F.W and was on the first Board of Trustees for the Fatima Shrine in Youngstown, NY. He was a founding member of the 24th Street Ravens football club. John enjoyed traveling to Florida with his wife during the winter months to his son’s house, and in his spare time, playing cards, bowling and was an avid New York Yankees fan. Above all, he cherished time spent with family and friends, and his love for animals especially his dog Macy. Mr. Deuro is survived by his sons, Jan (Claudia) Deuro, Jon Deuro, and Jason (Dawn) Deuro; his grandchildren, Nicholas (Randi) Deuro, Justin (Christine) Deuro, and Christopher (Jenn) Deuro; and his first great-granddaughter Lillian Eve Deuro as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. 8249 | John M. Lojek ended his worldly journey on December 9, 2016, while in the loving care of his wife and Niagara Hospice House. He lived a full and prosperous life for 74 years. John was born in Niagara Falls on May 8, 1942, to the late John and Mary (Mis) Lojek. John grew up on 27th Street and attended St. Stan's Elementary School. The family moved to Deveaux and John completed his elementary education at St. Teresa's where he became not only friends but lifelong business partners with Carl Virtuoso. He continued his education at Bishop Duffy, Class of 1960. Following graduation, he attended Fredonia State for a year until his father's passing. He opted to attend Niagara University to care for his mother. Again, he returned to Fredonia where he met the love of his life, Marilyn Chrzanowski. He completed his education at Niagara University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree. John was always a businessperson, even as a youngster. He delivered the Niagara Gazette to 85 plus families, cut grass and shoveled snow for most of Deveaux. While in college he worked at Tavano Prescription Pharmacy and Moore Business Forms (the midnight shift). One of John's neighbors saw something special in the way he spoke with people and his work ethic. He invited him to work for him at Lammerts Buick and Cadillac. John was the ultimate car salesman. He cared for his customers and treated them with courtesy and fairness. He remained with the Buick and Cadillac line for 35 years which is a testament to his outstanding character and his loyal following. John and his beloved wife, Marilyn celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on August 20, 2016. They have lived in Lewiston for 44 years. Many people have commented on the Happy Ads each one placed for their birthdays. People always looked forward to them. John loved to read and followed the news both locally and nationally by reading several newspapers daily. He was an avid follower of the stock market. He and his friends were known to place many a bet on anything that they could. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (3rd Degree) and the Niagara Falls Country Club. John is survived by his "bride", Marilyn (Chrzanowski) Lojek; a sister-in-law, Rita (late Henry) Lojek of Depew, NY; his nephews, John (Daria), Paul (Nichole), Mark (Cathy); and niece, Judy (Suzanne); and great-nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Henry. He will be deeply missed by his many friends and the extended Chrzanowski family of Paul (Karen), David (Pat), Tom (Kathy) and Rick (Elaine), Michael and Stanley. John was a kind soul with a generous heart. Many of you were recipients of his famous car wash tickets. He loved giving them to friends, doctors and anyone who helped him. 8250 | John Manfredo, 95, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Frank and Caterina (D’Ippolito) Manfredo. John proudly served in the United States Army during World War II until his honorable discharge. On June 19, 1948, he married Dorothy (Biamonte) Manfredo, at the former Our Lady of Lebanon Church. Mrs. Manfredo recently predeceased him on February 24, 2022 after 73 years of marriage. John was employed for 30 years as a truck driver and baker at DiCamillo’s Bakery in Niagara Falls, and later worked as a truck driver for both Dairylea and Wendt’s Dairy. John was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church. John enjoyed working around his house and yard, baking pizza and easter bread, and cooking pasta. Above all, John, like his beloved wife, Dorothy, centered his life around his family, and cherished the times spent together during family gatherings. John is survived by his children, Robert Manfredo, John Manfredo, Patricia Manfredo, Kathleen (James) Montanaro and Judith (late James) Trombley; his grandchildren, Katie Oldfield, Robert (Megan) Trombley, Elizabeth Scott, Christina Trombley, John (Summer) Montanaro and Michael Montanaro; his great-grandchildren, Madison, Allison, Calvin, Giovanni and James; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his siblings, Dominic (late Virginia) Manfredo, Mary (late Samuel) Scrivano, and Joseph Manfredo. John’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 19 at 10:30 AM in Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph’s Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.
