He was the proud owner of a 1941 Willys which was displayed at many car shows. He was an accomplished welder, fabricator, and wood worker. He loved studying and imparting the history of the Town of Wheatfield. He was the son of the late Basil and Dorothy (Robinson) Montgomery. He was the husband of the late Donna J. (nee Troutman) Montgomery. 8253 | John N. Mueller Veteran of WW1 born in LaSalle WHEATFIELD - World War I veteran John N. Mueller of Cayuga Drive Extension died Thursday (Oct. 16, 1986) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medica Center. He was 91. Mueller was born in the Village of LaSalle before il was annexed to the city, and was a long time resident of Wheatfield. During World War I he served in the 77th Division of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Europe for one year at the Meuse-Argonne Forest. Mueller was a group service operator at the Carborundum Co. for 35 years before retiring in 1960. He was a member of the Carborudum Alumni Association, St. James Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 1451 and the Historical Society of the Town of Wheatfield. He is survived by his wife, Ella (Pfohl) Mueller; sons, Melvin Mueller, of North Tonawanda; Delbert Mueller, of Keller, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Eunice) Gardener, of Bergen, N.Y.; a sister, Lydia Stoelting, and a brother, Benjamin Mueller, both of Wheatfield; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 8254 | John Olscamp, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018, in Northgate Health Care Facility. He was born in Campbellton, New Brunswick, on June 26, 1922, the son of the late George and Sarah [Keighan] Olscamp. Mr. Olscamp served with the Royal Canadian Air Force, during World War II. He was a stationary engineer and fireman at Hooker Chemical Co., he later worked at Occidental for over 37 years before retiring. He was a former member of Sacred Heart Church and was a member of the church's St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Ushers Club and the Bereavement Committee. He was also a member of the St. George prayer group. Mr. Olscamp was the husband of the late Julia [Nagelhout] Olscamp, who passed away in February of this year. He is survived by four sons Vincent (Bonnie), Michael (Linda), John (Marie) and Francis (Moira) Olscamp, two daughters, Anne (Philip) Cafarella and Maria (Chip) Taylor, a brother George "Buzz" Olscamp, a sister in law Mildred Olscamp and his late son's fiancee' Amy Griffin, seventeen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews. Mr. Olscamp was the father of the late Joseph Olscamp and brother of the late Harry, James and Randolph Olscamp, Irene Steinbrenner, Helen Traverse, his twin Lois McCabe, Georgina Olscamp, Stella Curry, Thelma Braas and Dora Rountree. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from John Marshall Law School in Chicago, IL, and later earned his Master’s Degree in Education from Niagara University. John was a well-respected Attorney in the Buffalo area for many years. He took great pride in his work and will forever be remembered for his brilliant and creative ways. He enjoyed substitute teaching and watching sports. John’s easy going, charismatic personality will also never be forgotten. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal from Vietnam. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, he loved to be outside and stay busy. His family remembers him as a loving, kind, hard working man. He was always know as the Neighborhood mayor. John was a licensed Nevada Realtor, member of and shop steward for Bartenders Local 165 during his 15 years of employment at the Stardust Hotel. One of his proudest achievements was his role in negotiating a severance plan with remuneration and rehire rights for bartenders and culinary employees when the Stardust closed. John's success in a historic, ground breaking, accomplishment was certainly due in part to the mutual respect of his coworkers and management alike. John was an avid reader, well versed in world history and a skilled, lifelong billiards player. He loved to travel and enjoyed fine dining. John loved life and lived it to the fullest. John was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen (McNamara) Lauer; his father, John Paul Lauer, Sr.; and brother, David Lauer. 8262 | John Printup, of the Tuscarora Nation passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence, Lewiston, NY. He was a member of the Turtle Clan, born on the Tuscarora Nation, on November 15, 1920, the son of the late Jonathan and Abigail [Johnson] Printup. He graduated from LaSalle High School. He served during World War II, he was a squad leader with the US Army 5th Ranger Battalion D Company and was in the invasion force that landed at Pointe du Hoc, Normandy on D-Day. Mr. Printup was also involved in other European campaigns during the war, where he captured six Germans. He received the 10 medals including, the Bronze Star, three presidential citations and the American Order of the French Croix de Guerre, American Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, New York State Conspicuous Service Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. Before the war he had worked construction with Laural & Maack and at Wurlitzer, after returning from the war, he was employed as a pressman at Moore Business forms for 30 years and became a supervisor at Niagara Printing, retiring in 1990. Mr. Printup was a member of the LaSalle American Legion Post #1142, the National Ranger Association and the North East Chapter of Rangers. He enjoyed bowling, playing basketball and swimming. Mr. Printup was the husband of the late Peggy A. Wilkinson, who died in December of 2012. He is survived by two sons Randall R. Born in Lewiston, NY, he was the son of the late John S. and Loretta (Mietlicki) Luzak, Sr. John was a lifelong resident of the area. He attended local schools and graduated from the former Bishop Duffy High School and received his Associates Degree from Niagara County Community College. On September 26, 1960, he married Cynthia A. (Tato) Luzak at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls. For over 25 years, John was employed at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Niagara Falls. Following his retirement he continued working as a driver for the Ransomville Bus Lines and the Youngstown Senior Transportation Program. John and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the country visiting their children, especially to Las Vegas. He was sports enthusiast and member of the Niagara Falls Sports Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia, golfing and antique cars. Professionally, John owned multiple dog grooming businesses, most recently retiring his career after working at Bubbles & Barks in Tonawanda, New York. His love for animals was evident as John dedicated his life to caring for and rescuing animals. Johns multitude of talents included interior design and garden architecture. John will be greatly remembered for his fun loving spirit, artistic expression, creativity, and full-heart. John was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Born in Winburne, PA, he was the son of the late Donald and Helen (Gregus) Barr; and the beloved husband of Mary (Snyder) Barr, whom he married on May 27, 1952. John moved to Niagara Falls with his family and was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School. On March 28, 1946, he enlisted in the United States Army proudly serving during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and began working at Airco Speer as a Tow Motor Operator for many years prior to his retirement. John was an avid baseball fan and loved the New York Yankees. He also enjoyed his daily walks on Goat Island. Above all, John enjoyed spending time with his family who will miss him dearly. 8266 | John T. Cheff, 92 of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on November 24th 2021 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY after a brief illness. John was born in Force, Pennsylvania and spent his childhood years there during the great depression. Like many other PA residents John’s family relocated to the Industry rich area of Niagara Falls, NY. John was the son of the Late Phillip and Mary (Murone) Cheff. John was predeceased by his wife Jean M. (DeLuke) Cheff in 2002. John served in the US Army for about a year and was medically discharged due to a bone disease that he continued to face throughout his whole life. Upon return to civilian life, John was employed at Hooker Chemical for 27 years and retired as an assistant to the plant manager. Upon retirement, John then worked for another 10 years with the City of Niagara Falls as a license inspector in the City Clerk’s Office. John amassed many friends across all walks of life throughout his time with us. John never hesitated to engage the assistance of his numerous Union, Public and Private Sector contacts in helping people and the community as a whole. John had a longstanding history of involvement in local, county and state politics. For over 40 years John was sought after by, and actively campaigned for numerous political candidates for offices. 8269 | John Ventresca was born in Niagara Falls and passed away quietly in his sleep while on vacation in Florida in 2021. John was the youngest child of Rosina (Centofanti) and Giovanni Ventresca and was preceded in death by his parents and older siblings; Elanda DelZoppo and Anthony Ventresca. John grew up in Niagara Falls and attended Niagara Falls High School. He graduated from the University of Buffalo School of Pharmacy in 1970 and settled in Michigan. John owned the Professional Building Pharmacy in Pontiac, MI, for over 20 years, where he served as the community's pharmacist. After selling his business, he worked as a traveling pharmacist for large stores, filling in where needed. John loved to travel, sailed on many cruises, and crossed the globe with his friends and family. "Johnny V" was always the life of the party, made new friends everywhere he went, and lived to the fullest. 8270 | John W. Cole III of Lockport, NY entered into rest on Tuesday, December 26, 2017. Born on May 21, 1934 in Lockport, he was the son of the late John W. and Cecile (Tracy) Cole Jr. John began his career on February 16, 1958 with the Niagara County Sherriffs Department as a deputy Sherriff. John also received training in Chicago to be a polygraph examiner. John was trained in homicide investigation, child abuse and arson. John then moved up the ranks to Chief Investigator, he was founder and commander of the Child Abuse Task Force where he created 'Darby's Den', a place for abused children to feel safe. John was instrumental in creating the Niagara County Rape Crisis Task Force. John retired from the department on July 23, 1996. John also ran for the State Senator in 1994. He eventually went on to serve as Niagara County Legislator for two terms. After John's retirement, he worked as a gaming inspector at the Seneca Niagara Casino and then for the Board of Elections. In the words of the former Sheriff Thomas Beilein, "When it comes to a child abuse case, John would not let go." He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret A. John was a Coast Guard veteran and was employed at Liberty Home Care in Niagara Falls. He was the current president of Union Hook & Ladder Fire Co. No. 1 in Tonawanda, where he had been a member for more than 40 years. John had also been a member of the former Tonawanda Police Underwater Squad for 20 years, and was now a member of Niagara Dive Rescue. He was the husband of Michele E. He was born in Niagara Falls, New York on January 27, 1937, a son of the late Albert F. and Clara (Schultz) Strasburg. For several years, Mr. Strasburg worked for the International Paper Company and later for Union Carbide Company where he retired as Foreman. John took great pride in his work, and many of his customers became like family to him. John enjoyed spending time at his place in the Southern Tier. He especially loved when his family would come down and spend time there. Born December 14th, 1966, in Lockport, New York, he is the son of Charles and Diana (Hale) Morello. Joseph was a 1985 graduate of Lockport Senior High School. Joe served the City of Lockport Fire Department from May 28, 1989 through May 30, 2021. He was a Fireman and Advanced Level EMT, promoted to Fire Lieutenant, Fire Captain, and ultimately achieved the rank of Assistant Fire Chief. Joe retired May 30, 2021, after 32 years. Joe was an avid outdoorsman. From his passion for the big buck during all aspects of hunting season (bow, rifle, black powder, crossbow), to his love for cycling whether road or mountain, and his connection to the great outdoors, especially canoe camping in the Adirondacks, he enjoyed life, and lived his life to the fullest. 8293 | Joseph A. “Joe” Frescino, of Grand Island, passed away on June 29, 2021. He was born September 15, 1934 in Niagara Falls, NY. and was the son of Vincenzo and Assunta (Sdao) Frescino. He attended Ferry Avenue Grade School, South Junior High School, and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1953. He entered the US Army in Sept 1954 and completed Basic and Tank Training at Fort Knox, KY and was transferred to the 1st Armored Division, Company A at Fort Hood, TX. He attended training at Fort Belvoir, VA and returned to Fort Hood, TX where he was assigned to Battalion Headquarters, 1st Armored Division, and was then transferred to Fort Polk, LA. He was Honorably Discharged in September 1956. He was a Lifetime Member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He worked at the International Paper Company, the Gas Company, Tops Supermarket, and 27 years at Harrison Radiator, retiring at the age of 60. Joe liked reading, completing the puzzles in the newspaper, cooking, gardening, planting lots of garlic, and monthly lunches with his childhood friends at the Como. He loved children and loved his family very very much. He served as a Corporal in Korea and was stationed in the DMZ. He was honorably discharged in 1954 and became a United States Citizen upon returning to Niagara Falls. On June 24, 1954, he married his beloved wife, Louise (Alcuri) Mauro at St. Joseph’s Church. Mrs. Mauro predeceased him on November 7, 2020 after 66 memorable years together. Joe was employed by the City of Niagara Falls as a Foreman at the Hyde Park Golf Course. He enjoyed golfing, reading, and was an avid New York Yankees fan. He also loved traveling with his wife in their younger years. Joe was loved by all and often referred to as the sweetest man. Joseph centered his life around his family who will miss him dearly.
