Joanne M. (Weidert) Coscia, 59, of Amherst, NY, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013, at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Amherst, NY. She was the daughter of Marion (Bartlett) Weidert of Niagara Falls, NY and the late William Weidert.
Joanne attended local schools and graduated in 1972 from LaSalle High School in Niagara Falls, NY. On September 16, 1978, she married Gary J. Coscia in St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Over the years, Joanne has actively assisted with the various operations of the family business. Joanne enjoyed visiting friends in Sarasota, FL and her daughter in Chicago, IL, and lived for her grandchildren, especially the new twins.
In addition to her mother and her husband of thirty-four years, Joanne is survived by two children, Kelli (Paul) Giannopulos of Chicago, IL and Kevin Coscia of Miami, FL; three grandchildren, Lucas, Gabriella, and Alexa; her sister, Dianne (John) Rosini of Lancaster, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 PM at M.J. He also worked at Midland Machinery and presently at Buffalo Pumps. He enjoyed family, fishing, hunting and the Beatles. Son of the late Grace and Emanuel Miranda; and sister of the late Marcia Miranda. Loving Husband and Best Friend of Charline (nee Perreault) Miranda. NEWFANE - Gerald E. "Ed" Goodman died, suddenly, at his home on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at the age of 59.

Ed was born July 24, 1954 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Malcolm E. and Betty Jane (Oliphant) Goodman. He was a 1972 graduate of Newfane High School and had attended Niagara County Community College. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October of 1972, and served until his honorable discharge in July of 1975. Along with his brother, Stephen, Ed owned and operated Betty Jane Cabins in Newfane. He had also worked at Lebrag-Garbel Welding in Lockport.

Ed was a life member of the Niagara County Motorcycle Club, a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Newfane, and the Antique Motorcycle Club of America. He was appreciated for his knowledge and lifelong passion for old machinery, particularly his antique motorcycles. Ed was a lover of music, and especially enjoyed playing his guitar. He also was an avid reader.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Rebecca A. (Hoffner) Goodman; his children, Jenifer A. Edgar of Newfane, Ellen M. (Leo) Walker of Asheville, NC, Natalie J. (Josh) Verheyn of Indiana, and Gloria (Bart) Langendorfer of Ransomville; his grandchildren, Nyx Verheyn, Duane Langendorfer and Julius Walker; two brothers, Stephen (Susan) Goodman of Newfane and Douglas Goodman of Port Townsend, WA; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Friday from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 21, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. David Duke officiating. Burial will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria. Nugent, born May 15, 1940, son of the late Edward and Eleanor Nugent, passed away, suddenly, on June 15, 2014, at Buffalo General Hospital, with loving family at his side. William was predeceased by his wife, Adelaide, who passed away in 2006. William was employed by Buffalo Psychiatric Center for 37 years. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. Bill was a great cook and quite a car enthusiast. He enjoyed visiting his out of state family members regularly. He is survived by his brother, Robert (Gail) Nugent of Tonawanda; his sister, Joanne (Joseph) Neumeister of Palm Harbor, FL, as well as his loving nieces and nephews, Lyn, Patrick, Christine, Kathy and Stephen; also survived by caring stepsons, Patrick Knowles and the late Bryant Knowles, along with their children and grandchildren, especially his devoted granddaughter, Bonnie Klepfer. Bill will forever live in our hearts and we will always cherish our time with him. Someday we will be together again. There will be no prior visitation. NORTH TONAWANDA — Jean D. (Wrege) Phillips, age 88, of North Tonawanda, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at her residence. Born in North Tonawanda, NY, on June 18, 1923 to the late William and Elizabeth (Hoffmeister) Wrege.

She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda and was a devoted homemaker. Jean was the beloved wife of the late George M. Phillips and was also predeceased by a brother, William Wrege, Jr.

Loving mother of four children, Sharyn E., Daniel G., David M. (Marsha), all of North Tonawanda and Dennis P. of Fort Meyers Beach, FL; also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Wednesday from 4-7 PM. KENMORE — The retired history department chairman at Kenmore West High School, died on Saturday in Kenmore Mercy Hospital, following a short illness. The Kenmore resident was 91. Born in Lockport, NY, on April 9, 1921, son of the late Charles Warren Silsby and Ada (Swift) Silsby.

Dr. Silsby attended Middleport Public Schools graduating from Middleport High School as Valedictorian in 1939. He received his Bachelor's Degree in 1943 Summa Cum Laude, and his Master's Degree in 1948 from Hobart College. He was awarded his Ph.D. in History from Cornell University in 1958. Dr. Silsby was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He was commissioned in the United States Navy serving in the Mediterranean from 1944 to 1946. After his military discharge, he taught History at Hobart College 1946 to 1952, The Parks School of Buffalo 1952 & 1953, West Seneca Central School 1953 & 1954, and Kenmore West High School 1954 to 1990. In addition, during his tenure at Kenmore West, he was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Buffalo.

Dr. Silsby's tenure at Kenmore West was highlighted by the introduction of Social Studies subjects Psychology, Philosophy and Economics. He supervised one of the largest Social Studies Departments in New York State. Dr. Silsby authored a History of the Town of Tonawanda, Settlement to Suburb; 1607-1986, at the age of 70. He also authored a number of book reviews and pamphlets. For a number of years, he was also a chief researcher for the Seneca Indian Nation. He provided expert testimony regarding land claims. He was President of the Lake Erie Council of Social Studies and the New York State Council of Social Studies. He was chief Grievance Officer of the Ken-Ton Teachers Association. Also a member of the National Council of Social Studies. He received the outstanding Teachers Award from the University of Chicago in 1983. He was awarded the highest honor of the Social Studies Council of the Niagara Frontier in 1988. For more than 20 years he and his wife, Katherine, were volunteers at the American Red Cross, He was a lifelong blood donor and a volunteer with the Ken-Ton Historical Society, assisting in the development of the local history museum. Dr. Silsby and his wife traveled extensively abroad. They were lovers of the outdoors. Many of their vacations were spent camping and exploring nature. They expressed their love of music be being season ticket holders for the Buffalo Philharmonic. After his retirement, he was inducted into the "Corridor of Honor" at Kenmore West.

He was predeceased in May by his wife of 69 years, the former Katherine Irene White; and a brother, John Silsby. He is survived by his four children, John (Robin) Silsby of Connecticut, Mary (Sam) Vitello of Lockport, Susan Hedges of Middleport and Kenmore and Charles (Geneva) Silsby of Lockport; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call on Thursday from 7-9 PM at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Hartland Central Cemetery. Memorials to the American Red Cross would be appreciated by the Silsby family. A Memorial Service is being planned in the near future in the Kenmore area.

HOUSTON, TX — Sheldon R. Payne, loving husband and father, passed away June 4, 2012, in Houston, TX, where he resided for the last 15 years.

Born in 1920 in Royalton Center, he was the son of Edson and Lula Mary (nee Rickard) Payne; brother of Laverna, Alvin, Gladys, Everett, Evelyn, Leslie, Marvin, Earl, Donald and Lawrence, who all preceded him in death. His only living sibling is Areitha Collins of Lockport, NY. His beloved wife of 68 years, Antoinette "Ann" M. Payne, preceded him in death in 2011.

He was the loving father of Karen (Glenn) Walker, Wilson, NY, Mary Paula (Durand) Dodge, Elizabeth (Skip) Garringer and Joyce (Jerry) Bailey, all of Texas. Son, Michael (Carol) Payne, Henrietta, NY, preceded him also in death. Several nieces, nephews and grandchildren survive him.

Sheldon worked at General Motors in Lockport for 33 years, along with owning Payne's Charcoal House for 10 years, and operating a 10-acre farm that brought him, along with having his devoted family, one of his greatest joys. It's very symbolic, therefore, that his memorial service will be held there at 7792 Ridge Road, Gasport, on Saturday, July 7th at 2:00 PM. A family friend, Reverend Wayne Dent, will be officiating at the service.

ROCHESTER — Donald Dane Swick, 64, son of Donald I. Swick (deceased) and Dorothy D. Swick of Niagara Falls, NY, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at St. John's Home in Rochester, NY, after a long struggle with M.S.

Don is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathryn (Smith); three children, Jennifer Werner, Eric Swick and Erin Marie Swick; and grandson, Austin Werner. He is also survived by three brothers, Daniel (JoAnn), Stephen (Margorie) and Harold; one sister, Susan (Dave) Ziemba and 11 nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by a brother, Matthew Robert Swick.

Don was a 1966 graduate of LaSalle Senior High, a 1968 graduate of NCCC, and a 1970 graduate of Oklahoma State University.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in Rochester.

Norman E. Jagow, age 75, of North Tonawanda, NY, was called peacefully to his heavenly home, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Niagara Hospice on June 18, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on December 23, 1938, he was the son of the late Henry and Mathilda (Rubbert) Jagow. Norman was a graduate of Trott Vocational in Niagara Falls and was employed at Bell Aerospace in Wheatfield and later owned and operated the N&J Christmas Tree Farm. He was a longtime member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Wheatfield and a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. Norman was a lifetime member of Shawnee Volunteer Fire Company and member of the Rotary Club, Lions Club, and Western New York Christmas Tree Assoc. Hobbies and interests included hunting and outdoor activities.
Predeceased by his wife, Joan (Ferchen) Jagow, he is survived my his former wife, Constance Jagow; five children, Doris (Scott) Leaderstorf of North Tonawanda, Janice (Donald) Piatkowski of Harrington, DE, Edward (Tina) Jagow of North Tonawanda; two step-sons, David and Mark Ferchen; five grandchildren, Travis and Russell Leaderstorf, Samantha, Katherine and Jay Piatkowski; two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Charolette Teel; a brother, Leonard Jagow of Florida; a sister, Helen Jagow of Niagara Falls; and several nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by a step-daughter, Marcia Ferchen; and two brothers, Delbert and Donald Jagow.

RANSOMVILLE — Jean Frances Hill, 88, went home to be with her Lord Jesus, on May 21, 2011. She was born on January 7, 1923 in Ransomville, NY, to Gordon and Marion (Birchard) Carew.

Jean grew up in the hamlet of Ransomville and married Edward B. Hill on June 15, 1940. She was a mother of 10 children and was a lifetime member of Niagara Frontier Bible Church. For 30 years, Jean drove a bus for Ransomville Bus Lines. She was known for baking delicious cinnamon rolls, breads, and cakes. Jean loved reading the Bible and praying with her dear Eddy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Marion Carew; her husband, Edward B. Hill; sisters, Marjorie Carew Jones, Patricia Carew (Gene) Reid; brothers, Robert and Jack Carew; son, David E. (Chung Lee) Hill; and her daughter, Dawn L. Hill. Jean is survived by her brother, Gordon (Doris) Carew, Baltimore, MD; sister, Barbara Carew (Kenneth) Taylor, Wilson NY; children, Paul (Carol) Hill, TX, Mark (Jerry Grace) Hill, CA, John (Karon) Hill, WA, Cynthia Hill (Neil) Neumann, NY, Edward Hill, CA, Debbie Hill (Gary) Dexter, AZ, Michael (Kim) Hill, CA and Janet Hill (Greg) Callahan, MD. Jean was a loving grandmother to 23 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

NASHVILLE, TN — Jeffrey M. Braunbach, of Lockport, entered into rest, suddenly, Thursday, May 24, 2012 in Nashville, TN. Born December 29, 1960, he was the son of the late Robert H. and Audrey Hebler Braunbach, Sr. Jeff was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed hunting.

Father of Christopher Allen of Port St. Lucie, FL, Adam and Steven Braunbach, both of Lockport; grandfather of Raylee Allen of Port St. Lucie, FL; brother of Robert H. (Gail) Braunbach, Jr. of Tonawanda; step-son of Martha Ann (David J.) Braunbach Wilczewski of Lockport. Jeff was also fortunate to have two great friends, Joseph Brant and Raymond Carlstead, along with the late Sr. Josephine Pepe, who were there for him during his trying times. Also survived by relatives and friends.

No prior visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, 5 Saxton St., on Saturday (June 9th) at 1 PM. Interment, Cold Spring Cemetery at the convenience of the family. CAMBRIA — Lydia E. (Smith) Fritz, age 66, of Cambria, entered into rest on June 1, 2012 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Born in Oakland, California on July 18, 1945 to the late Perry and Doris (Lutz) Smith.

Lydia came to the Western New York area at a young age and attended local schools. She was employed at Orleans-Niagara BOCES for many years and enjoyed reading and going to garage sales.

Survivors include her loving husband of 50 years, Ronald J. Fritz; two children, Thaddius (Sharon) Fritz of Laramie, Wyoming and Cynthia Jones of Lockport; four grandchildren; a sister, Kathy (Ronald) Steadt; and a brother, Perry (Cindy) Smith, both of Wheatfield.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Lydia's name. Arrangements are by the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME.

Tim was a long-haul truck driver for 20 years working for several companies. He was a member of B.P.O.E. Pinellas Park, FL #2217.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara J. (Ohneth); three sisters, Lorrie J. Siffin (Tim) of Clarendon, PA; Elaine A. Bright (David, deceased) of Niagara Falls, NY; Amy M. Mueller of Pinellas Park, FL; six nieces and nephews, Corey Cook, Michelle Bright-Quirk, Heather Bright, Matthew Bright and Jeb and Jesse Siffin; three great-nieces and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

LOCKPORT - Douglas F. Diez, age 68, of Ransomville, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 31, 2014 in the Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, after a long illness.

Doug was born August 6, 1945 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Frank P. and Francis L. (Swick) Diez. He was a 1963 graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School, and in 1964 began a 37 year career at Harrison-Radiator in Lockport. He retired in 2001 as Receiving Operations Supervisor. In 1996, he received his Associate's degree in Business Management from Niagara County Community College. During his tenure at Harrison-Radiator, Doug was named as a top 10 Supervisor on three different occasions. After his retirement, he drove a school bus for Ransomville Bus Lines for 11 years.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown and a former member of the Ransomville United Methodist Church, where he spent 23 years as a Certified Lay Leader. Doug was also a member of Alpha Beta Gamma, an international business honor society; past president and member of the Ransomville Free Library; past president and member of the Lewiston-Porter Alumni Assoc.; and a member of the Ransomville Business Assoc. In 2007, the Chamber of Commerce named Doug the Town of Porter Citizen of the Year. Doug was also a member of the Ransomville Cruisers Car Club. He had taken part in the Richard Petty, the Rusty Wallace and the Ferrari Experiences.

On April 11, Doug celebrated 50 years of marriage to Connie (Campbell) Diez. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on September 6, 1936, the daughter of the late Fred and Anna (Considine) Peuss.

Mrs. Marino graduated from St. Mary's High School and later was employed with Moore Business Forms for several years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, painting, sewing and traveling.

Mrs. Marino was the wife of the late Joseph A. Marino, who died in October of 2011.

She is survived by two sons, Martin (Carol) Marino of Southern Illinois, Andrew (Terri) Marino of Tampa, FL; two daughters, Mary Jo (David) Rhodes and Kathleen (Mick) Pontalti, both of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Delaney Rhodes, Christian and Emma Pontalti; two sisters, Nancy Fortman and Jane Peuss; also many nieces and nephews.

AKRON — Robert Hellert, known as "Butch" by friends and family, entered his eternal home on June 19, 2012, to be with his wife Ruth, and his eternal Father.

Born February 2, 1923, Butch was a man of strong character and faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and dearly loved his family and friends, and his land on Johnson Road.

He is survived by his son, John Robert Hellert (Dianne), Latham, NY; and his daughter, Linda L. Peterson (Rev. Charles), DeForest, WI; grandchildren, Steffen (Rotsalinn) Hellert and Kirsten Hellert; brother, Donald (Adelia) Hellert; sisters, Marion (Chester) Washak, Elsie (Walter) Williams, Elizabeth (Robert) Brauen, Katherine (William) Thiel and Ruby (Lyle) Schultz; and many nieces and nephews. Butch was predeceased in death by his wife, Ruth; parents, Elsie and Edward Hellert and sister, Dorothy Schuler.

David Sean Compton, of Lockport, flew on angels wings to rejoin his Lord on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. David made the world better place for his entire family and an infinite number of people in his short 47 years on Earth.
He was an accomplished drummer, loved music, and comedy but his chief hobby was to make people laugh, feel good about themselves and help others. David was born in Fort Knox, KY on March 8, 1966. He graduated from Lockport High School, graduated cum laude with a Bachelors degree at Buffalo State College and his MBA at Canisius College. David earned certifications as a Microsoft Systems Engineer, Cisco Certified Network Administrator and Certified Novell Administrator and worked as a manager in the IT industry. David shared his expertise in computers freely, helping anyone who needed it. His sense of humor and love of family and friends is well known to all those who knew him.
David is survived by his adoring wife, Veronica DeAngelo Compton; and his beautiful children, Olivia and Harrison all Lockport. He is also survived by his loving parents, Dennison and Margaret (Lillis) Compton of Newton, NC; adoring brother, Dr. William Compton of Wilmington, NC, doting sisters, Kimberly Compton of Greenville, SC, Lisa (Donald) Lamb of Hickory, NC, and Patricia Compton of Tallahassee, FL; and several nieces and nephews. David is also survived by special uncles Donald and Charles Compton; and aunt, Debbie Compton who have stood by the family's side through all the trial and tribulations of this past year. He is also survived by numerous other aunts, uncles and many cousins who will miss David's sparkling personality. David is free now and we await the time we will be reunited with him in his joy and happiness. David you will be missed by so many people.

She met and married her beloved husband Donald Toenniessen to whom she was married for over 50 years. Helen owned and operated "Don's Grocery" in Royalton Center, NY before retiring to Florida. She loved to play cards, bake and entertain friends. Her family affectionately referred to her as the "Hostess Supreme". Helen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ocala. In New York, she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gasport.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Toenniessen of Ocala, FL; children, Karen (Gary) Gardner of Gasport, NY, Robert (Karen) Schultz of Bradenton, FL, Peter (Michelle) Toenniessen of Albion, NY, Molly McIntyre of Sebastian, FL, Richard (Primrose) Schultz of Ocala, FL, and Kenneth (Tara) Toenniessen of Lockport, NY. LOCKPORT - Jenette Elizabeth Naish, age 81, of Gasport, entered into rest on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport. Born July 14, 1932, Jenette was the daughter of the late Ervin and Elida (Brewer) Criswell.

Jenette married Eugene F. Naish on January 20, 2007, at Covenant United Church of Christ. She was previously married to Delbert "Bubby" Cummings, who died in 1993. Jenette worked as a home care aide for many years. An avid sports fan, Jenette enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon #24, the Yankees, Bills and Sabres. Flower gardening and bird watching were favorite pastimes. Jenette also enjoyed going to the casino and traveling with her husband.

Surviving Jenette is her husband, Eugene Naish. Dear mother of Del Cummings of Lockport, Michael Cummings of Lockport, Judy (Roger) LaPort of Arizona, Marchele Pratt of Newfane, Candy Sutherland of West Virginia, Cindy Huth of Newfane, Brenda Rodrigues of Lockport, and Doug (Darla) Cummings of Lockport. She was predeceased by children, Randy Cummings, Scott Cummings and Wendy Cummings. Step-mother of Lugene Dodge of Missouri, Vicky (Larry) Demmin of Middleport, Jacquelyn Lawrence of Gasport, and Gwendolyn Hunt of Middleport. Jenette had a special closeness with her niece, Diane Sansone. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews also survive Jenette.

TOWN OF PENDLETON — Arthur C. Schulz, age 82, of the Town of Pendleton, died on Monday, June 20, 2011, at his residence, after a long illness. Born in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Clara (Pellman) Schulz. Arthur had been employed as Director of Manufacturing Support for Occidental Chemical Corp. for 35 years. He retired as Director of Production Development in 1990. Arthur received a "Man of the Year" Award from the Pendleton Town Board in 1976. He served on the Town of Pendleton Planning Board for seven years. Arthur was a member of First Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Tonawanda. He loved to cook, camp, and hike, and loved his family and his dogs.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha I. (nee Keyl) Schulz; five children, Judith (David) Georger of Avon, NY, Paul J. (Peggy) Schulz of Clarence Center, NY, Amy L. (Samuel) Folby of Lockport, NY, Jane C. (Brian) MacDonald of Salinas, CA, and Peter A. Schulz of Hong Kong; one sister, Ruth L. (late Clifford) Patterson of Chicago, IL; and 12 grandchildren.

NIAGARA FALLS — Jarvis M. McGarvey, 91, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012, at St. Joseph of the Pines Health Center.

Jarvis is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marjorie M. McGarvey; daughter, Bonnie Berry and her husband, Fred Berry of Pinehurst; son, James McGarvey of Youngstown, NY; grandsons, Tom Berry of Greenville and Shaun and Michael McGarvey of Youngstown, NY; great-grand- daughter, Morgan McGarvey and great-grandson, Phillip McGarvey.

They lived for more than 30 years on Grand Island where Jarvis worked at the Carborundum Abrasive Company for more than 40 years. They retired and lived in Punta Gorda, FL, for more than 17 years. In 2004, Marjorie and Jarvis moved to Pinehurst.

Jarvis will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

LOCKPORT — Roy T. Westcott passed away on June 20, 2012, under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. Born on September 12, 1924 in Hartland, he was the son of Roy and Elizabeth (White) Westcott.

Roy served in the US Army from 1943 to 1945 during WW II in the Rome Arno Campaign and received the Purple Heart. He worked for Bell Aerospace Systems where he was a machinist. Roy was a member of the American Legion and will always be remembered as a very happy man. He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian (Miller) Westcott on September 6, 2010.

Roy is survived by his children, Douglas (Christine) Westcott, David Westcott, both of Lockport, Marcia (John) Clifford of Gasport, Jeanne (Scot) Hall of Lockport and Robert (Debra) Westcott of Holly; grandfather of twelve and great-grandfather of twenty-five; predeceased by four brothers and three sisters; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Donald served in the US Army from 1946 to 1947, earning the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan. He was a mailman in Lockport and also a cab driver for Star Cab Co. in Lockport. Donald was a baseball coach, enjoyed dachshunds, and was both an avid NY Yankees and Cleveland Browns fan. He was predeceased by his first wife, Nancy (Hallatt) Rose in 1990.

Donald is survived by his wife of 22 years, Lila (Criswell) Rose of Lockport; father of Dennis (Darlene) Rose of Burt, Mike Rose of Olcott, Debbie Rose of Colorado, and Linda Pitler; grandfather of Amanda (Josh) Seward and Dustin Rose. He was born in North Tonawanda, NY, on June 4, 1936, a son of the late Glenwood and Edna (Schroeder) Warblow.

Mr. Warblow was a self-employed wielder, working for various businesses in the area for the past 60 years.

He was a member of the Jim Hurtubise's pit crew for many years and was a member of the Free Wheelers Car Club.

Mr. Warblow enjoyed restoring antique automobiles making them into street rods and was an avid sportsman.

He was the husband of the late Carilyn (DeNeau) Warblow and father of the late Linda A. Snyder.

Mr. Warblow is survived by his son-in-law, Robert M. Snyder of North Tonawanda, NY; two grandchildren, Daniel and Renee Snyder; a sister- in-law, Dorothy Warblow; his dear friend, Joan Pfister. He is also survived by many cousins and friends. He was the brother of the late Robert Warblow.

LOCKPORT - Roberta (Bertie) Mansfield passed away, suddenly, on June 17, 2014. Born January 15, 1932, she was the daughter of Robert C. and Cordula Mosher. She married Donald (Bud) Mansfield in 1954 in Lockport, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on May 15th. She was a true housewife, mother and grandmother, a lifelong resident of Lockport and a graduate of Lockport High School in 1949.

Survived by husband, Donald; daughter, Donna Sue; son, Eric Russell (wife, Karen Cain); son, Toby Will (wife, Kim Thompson) and three grandchildren, Scott, Samuel and Sean Mansfield.

Roberta volunteered for Meals-on-Wheels, serving as interim coordinator and a board member for 30 years. Former Lockport Lions and Lambs and 4-H Club leader, volunteer and program director in 1974. Her children were very involved in 4-H. She enjoyed embroidery, watching her neighbors organic farm herd coming and going from the barns and grazing in the front lawn, making cookies for her grandchildren, chocolate cake for her children and making family spaghetti dinner that was even had as a Thanksgiving meal one year.

Services were private for the family. Memorials in her name can be sent to Mercy Flight.

LOCKPORT — Roger W. "Cowboy" Taylor, of Newfane, NY, rode into the sunset Thursday, June 21, 2012 in Niagara Hospice House, with his family by his side. He was born in Medina, NY, January 8, 1940, the son of the late Frank and Helen Altman Taylor. He married Vivian G. Foley Taylor February 11, 1960; she died June 24, 2006. Roger was the shipping clerk at Stone Container in North Tonawanda, NY for 37 years, retiring in 1997. He enjoyed spending time with his partner "Foxy". Roger was active in the Western Horse Shows and enjoyed playing Western Polo in the 1970s and 1980s.

Father of Travis (Traci) Taylor of Ransomville, NY. Grandfather of Samantha and Michael Taylor, Jillian and Lee Hilliard. Great-grandfather of Noah Hilliard. Lester R. "Bob" Hall, of the Town of Cambria, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at his home under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. He was born in Lockport, NY, on December 13, 1924, the son of the late Glen R. and Marion (Mudd) Hall. Mr. Hall was a bus driver for Ridge Road Express/Grand Tours, for over 50 years, before retiring in February of this year. He was a third generation farmer of the family farm, which was started by his grandfather. Mr. Hall enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing and watching the Lockport Bus Line Baseball Team.
He was the husband of the late Ruth M. (Everett) Hall. Mr. Hall is survived by one son, John C. (Maureen) Hamilton of Cataula, GA; two grandchildren, Michaela and Jonathan Hamilton; one sister, Norma (Eugene) Hoffman; and dear friend of Lillian Ackerman, Mark (Joyce) Ackerman, Glenn (Jan) Ackerman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Hall was the brother of the late Richard Hall; and friend of the late Vicky Ackerman.

Suzanne (Young) Goater of Sanborn, was called home on June 21, 2014 surrounded by her family at her residence. Born on October 28th in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Nancy (Patterson) Young (Tuscarora Turtle Clan) and raised on the Tuscarora Reservation.
Suzanne and her husband, Kenneth Goater, operated Sanborn Greenhouses for many years, until their retirement. She loved to travel and with her father, visited his birthplace of Rotterdam, Holland and many U.S. states with her husband. Sue would tell you - "If you have the opportunity to travel somewhere, go while you're able to and you won't be sorry." She was a historian on all things related to the Tuscarora Nation, remembering families, buildings, historic events and the old ways. Sue was a collector of scrapbooks and photos, and had many pictures taken at weddings on the reservation that she happily shared with others. She enjoyed making and sending cards, and decorating for holidays. Sue loved her family and her animals, was a great homemaker and cook; often cooking for her greenhouse crew during long work hours.
In addition to her husband, Kenneth Goater, she is survived by a grandson, Corey Baggos of Fayetteville, NC; cousins and best friends, Wendy Bissell and Angela Jonathan of Tuscarora Nation; old friends, nieces and nephews, Brenda Muniz, Margo Rizzo and James Muniz; and Shirley Allen and family of Tonawanda. She leaves behind her three loyal canine companions, Luke, Harvey and Ellie Mae. Predeceased by her son, James Baggos in 1994.
Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME (731-3234), 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield on Wednesday, June 25th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. TOWN OF NIAGARA — Gladys F. Kurowski, of the Town of Niagara, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012, in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on December 18, 1915, a daughter of the late Peter and Mary Ann (Wodo) Sczepczenski.

Mrs. Kurowski was baptized and married at Holy Trinity Church. She attended school at Niagara Street, 13th Street, South Junior and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. She was employed with Carborundum and with various businesses in the city over the years and was a AVON representative from 1951 until 1978. Mrs. Kurowski moved to the Town of Niagara in 1970 and is one of town's oldest residents. She was a member of the Town of Niagara Seniors, St. Leo's Altar & Rosary Society, the Legally Blind Group of Niagara Falls (all four groups), the Adastra Society with Polish Women, serving as President for over 20 years. Mrs. Kurowski enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, sewing, crocheting, playing cards and bowling. She will be remembered for always being ready to help someone in need.

Mrs. Kurowski was the wife of the late Bruno W. Kurowski, who died in May of 1996. She is survived by two daughters, Geraldine "Gerry" (Dennis) Prygon of the Town of Niagara and Kathleen "Kathy" (Richard) Bos of Lewiston, NY; eleven grandchildren, Linda Shenk, Lisa (Chris) Martineck, Jeffery (Tanya) Shenk, Laurie (Brad) Halgash, David (Donna) Prygon, Donna (Bill) Gliwa, Michael (Maria) Prygon, Denise (James) Coble, Steven (Leanne) Bos, James (Amy) Bos and Tom (fiancee'' Eileen Brown) Bos; twenty-five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; mother-in-law of Fred "Dick" Shenk. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kurowski was the mother of the late Betty Ann Shenk; and sister of the late Joseph, Edward and Robert Sczepczenski and Wanda Horvath.

Cathryn Grace (Campbell) Harris, 35, of Niagara Falls, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, June 22, 2013 after a long and brave battle against breast cancer. Born on March 2, 1978 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the youngest of four children blessed to Robert C. Campbell of Youngstown, NY and the late Loretta F. (Simone) Campbell.
Cathryn grew up in the LaSalle district of Niagara Falls, attending local schools, and graduating from the former LaSalle Senior High School in 1996. She met her devoted and beloved husband, Gregory Harris, when they were both in their teens, and the two were married July 10, 1999. Together, Cathryn and Greg had three beautiful children, William Raymond (14), Victoria Loretta (12), and Christopher Gregory (8). She was also "Mama" to her Dachshund, "Molly", German Shepherd, "Sam", and the family cat, "Buddy".
Cathryn began her working career at Delta Sonic in Niagara Falls, where she worked for many years with her brother, Rob. She eventually became the manager for Delta Sonic's Subway location. Most recently, she obtained a degree at Niagara County Community College for Business Medical Bookkeeping. She was last employed through Phymedco in Tonawanda, where she was well respected and highly favored. She enjoyed spending time with her family, attending her children's school events and extra curricular activities, gardening, and reading. Cathryn loved to laugh, and loved living life to the fullest. She especially enjoyed riding with her husband on the back of his motorcycle, as well as annual camp outings with her family.
Cathryn was always ready to help out where needed, never hesitating to do whatever she could for family and friends in need. When faced with a difficult challenge, she always met it head on, refusing to give up no matter what the circumstance. She loved Jesus with all her heart and enjoyed reading her Bible. At times, Cathryn was affectionately referred to as, "Boo" and "Aunt Boo-Boo" by members of her family.
In addition to her father, husband and their three children, Cathryn is survived by two sisters, Adele (Richard) Previte of Niagara Falls; Beverly (Mark) Boyer of Youngstown; a brother, Robert (Beth) Campbell of Niagara Falls. She is also survived by six nieces and one nephew, Ashley, Amanda, Jennifer, Jillianne, Winter, Kelsey, and Joe; two aunts and uncles, Vincent and Sharon Simone of Niagara Falls; and Kenneth and Cheryl Glennon of Indiana; along with several cousins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the M.J. Jennie B. Stahler, age 103, of Lockport, NY, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2013 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport, NY. Born on January 6, 1910 in Newfane, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Edith (Breckon) Beers. She was the wife of the late Horace Stahler.
Mrs. Stahler worked as a Secretary at the Lockport Felt Company in Newfane. She enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, Edwin J. (Jeannie) Shoemaker of Olcott, NY, A. Michael (Mary) Shoemaker of Lancaster, NY; daughter, Ann L. Layton of Tehachapi, CA; grandchildren, John (Susan) Shoemaker, Heidi B. Shoemaker, Michael Shoemaker, Mark (Angela) Shoemaker, Alexis Shoemaker, Lee Ann (Steve) Setzer, Nikki (Mark) Johnston and several great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her brother, Lee Beers.

Richard A. Rainer, of Amherst, died on Saturday, June 22, 2013 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. He was 75. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on January 1, 1938, the son of the late Fred and Elizabeth (Whyte) Rainer.
Attending local schools, Richard joined the U.S. Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged from the reserves in 1963. As a young man, he worked for the railroad, the Niagara Power Project and the Carborundum Company for 10 years. He retired in 1999 from Harrison Radiator where he worked as a millwright for over 30 years. Richard loved and spent a lot of time outdoors fishing, hunting camping and photography. He also enjoyed collecting and learning the new age of electronics. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church; the American Legion LaSalle Post 1142; VFW and the UAW 686.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Pitts) Rainer, married in 1961; five children, Deborah Chandler of Lockport, Capt. Richard Rainer, Jr. (Bente) of Amherst, James Rainer of Youngstown, Beverly Zambito (Frank) of Tonawanda and Robert Rainer (fiance, Dondi) of Indiana; his brother, Norman Rainer (Elizabeth) of Kentucky; sister, Margaret Pike of Niagara Falls; sixteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Norman Rainer, on October 27, 2011; and by his siblings, Shirley Raverinni, Joan Candella, Harry Rainer and Maureen Neidermeyer.

APPLETON — Audrey A. Worthington (Bowen), age 85, of Appleton, formerly of Gasport, entered into rest on Friday, June 24, 2011, at her daughter’s home in Appleton. Born August 15, 1925 in Batavia, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Charlotte (Darron) Bowen.

Audrey graduated from Geneseo State Teacher’s College. She married Willis “Bill” Worthington December 28, 1946 in Batavia. Mr. Worthington died January 25, 1991. She worked at Drake Elementary School in North Tonawanda as a First Grade teacher, retiring in 1980 after 29 years. Audrey enjoyed gardening, traveling and bird watching, but she most enjoyed spending time with her family.

Wife of the late Willis “Bill” Worthington. Loving mother of Wayne (Sandra) Worthington of North Tonawanda, Marilyn (Gaylord) Warblow of Sevierville, TN, Dixie (David) Setlock of New Market, TN, Donna (Michael) Bazinet of Johnson Creek, Charlene (Kenneth) Lewis of Myrtle Beach, SC, Darlene (Michael) Bronschidle of Appleton and the late Dennis J. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, on March 3, 1929 she was the daughter of the late George and Louise (Jarzab) Danielewicz and attended local schools. Bernice was a member of Immaculate Conception RC Church and worked as a bookkeeper for Danielewicz Dairy. She loved to go Polka dancing, flowers, traveling and socializing with everyone.

She is survived by her step-sons, Alex Henschel of Seattle, WA, Walt Henschel and Matthew Henschel, both of Ransomville, NY; step-daughters, Joann and Jenette, both of Ransomville, NY and Helen Claudia and Betty of Florida; her brother, Flevie (Jean) Danielewicz of Sanborn, NY; her sister, Jessie (late Anthony) Zabkowski of Niagara Falls, NY; also several nieces and nephews. NIAGARA FALLS — Angeline M. (Figurilli) Volpe, 95, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY. She was the daughter of the late Concezio and Almerinda (Baccelli) Figurilli.

A lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY, she attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. Angeline worked as a meat clerk for 25 years at the former Great Bear Market in Niagara Falls, NY, and retired in 1974. On June 29, 1940, she married Anthony Volpe in St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Volpe predeceased her on March 23, 1981. Angeline was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Church and a member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church Senior Citizens group. She enjoyed knitting and cooking for her family. Angeline will be remembered for her dynamic personality and being "the life of the party" at family functions.

In addition to her husband, Angeline was also predeceased by her son, Lawrence Volpe. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Patricia Volpe-Eno of Glens Falls, NY; two grandchildren, Michelle Volpe (Sue Wasson) and Erica Volpe (Steven Carbone); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Angeline was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph (late Mary Ann) Figurilli, Anthony (Rose of Niagara Falls, NY) Figurilli; and two sisters, Anne (late Alex) Destino and Frances Figurilli.

LEWISTON — Edmund R. Wendt, age 92, of Sanborn, died Saturday, June 23, 2012 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a brief illness.

Ed was born December 12, 1919 in Sanborn, NY, the son of the late Edward and Lena (Strassburg) Wendt, and was a lifelong resident. He married Jane M. McCollum on October 2, 1948. Jane predeceased him on April 10th of this year. Ed was a self-employed mechanic. He had worked as an Operating Engineer on the Power Project and as a bus mechanic for Niagara Wheatfield Schools.

He had attended the Ransomville United Methodist Church. Ed enjoyed building and collecting model toys, NASCAR and attending Steam Engine Shows. He also has a collection of antique cars and tractors.

He is survived by his children, Paul (Robin) Wendt of Lockport, Dan (Shelley) Wendt of Jamestown, NY, and Marleen (Conrad) Janik of Lockport; his grandchildren, Cori Flores, Raymond and Andrew Wendt, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Gruber, Edward Wendt, Conrad Jr. and Christopher Janik, and Liza Reinhardt; and three great-grandchildren, Joseph Flores, Emily Wendt and Amanda Clarkson. He was predeceased by two brothers, Alfred and Norman Wendt.

NIAGARA FALLS — Vernon M. "Bummy" Geschwender, formerly of Town of Niagara, died on Monday, June 23, 2014. He was 87. He was born in the Village of LaSalle on December 30, 1926, the son of Frank and Martha (Clarkson) Geschwender, Sr. He attended local schools and was a graduate of the former LaSalle Jr./Sr. High School. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force during WW II.

Mr. Geschwender was employed by Kimberly Clark for several years. He retired from Alox's shipping department.

Vernon could be found either golfing or bowling and was inducted into the Niagara Falls Men's Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2001. He was a dedicated member of Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church for over 50 years serving in many capacities, including Deacon and Head Usher. An active supporter of the Red Cross, he donated 116 pints of blood.

He was predeceased by his wife, Myrtle (Crampton) Hannam-Geschwender in February 2008. He is survived by three stepchildren, Mary Lynn (Robert Gabbey) Jaques of Lockport; David (Andrea) Hannam of Sanborn; Brian (Margaret) Hannam of Lewiston; his beloved niece, Betty (late Samuel) Hoff of the Town of Tonawanda; siblings, Ernest (late Nellie) Geschwender of Niagara Falls; Isabella (late Thomas Sessman and Joe Ferrerio) Sessman of the Town of Tonawanda; Audrey (late Charles) McCombs; brother-in-law, Maynard (Mary) Crampton of Niagara Falls; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his stepson, William (late Sharon) Hannam; step- son-in-law, Raymond Jaques; and siblings, William (late Ida), Franklin (late Ruth) and James (late Nettie) Geschwender.

Friends may call Thursday after 11 AM at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will be held at 1 PM, with the Rev. Lee Holliday officiating. The interment will be private in Oakwood Cemetery, Niagara Falls. BUFFALO — Wilbert C. Milleville, of the Town of Wheatfield, NY, went to be with his Lord on Monday, June 23, 2014, at the Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, NY.

He was born in the Town of Wheatfield on January 2, 1929, the son of the late Carl J. and Viola (Haseley) Milleville.

Mr. Milleville graduated from LaSalle Senior High School. He began working on his family's farm with his father and continued farming with his sons and grandsons, in which he was still active. Mr. Milleville also operated a hay, straw and grain trucking business in Western New York.

Mr. Milleville was a member of the Niagara County Co-operative Extension and Farm Bureau and served as a director of the Niagara Co-Op Milk Producers. He was an active member of St. James Lutheran Church, serving as the church Secretary and Elder.

Mr. Milleville enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends throughout the world, taking videos of family events and his travels. He also enjoyed hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois J. (Voeker) Milleville; they were married on June 11, 1949; four sons, John R. (Joyce) Milleville of Wheatfield, Lee W. (Maureen) Milleville and David E. (Jane) Milleville, both of Sanborn, and Timothy C. (Donna) Milleville of Pendleton; two daughters, Kathleen L. (John) Miskey of Tonawanda, NY and Mary Ann (R. Steven) Kowalski of Wheatfield; three sisters, Elva (Edgar) Walck, Jean (Richard) St. John and Lois (late Dale) Bush; one brother-in-law, Raymond Wienk. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Milleville was the father-in-law of the late Ronald Antonelli.

The family will be present on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM, at St. James Lutheran Church, 2437 Niagara Road, Bergholz, NY, with Pastor Jeff Milsen officiating. Husband of the late Joan Carol Goble, who passed away November of 2013; father of Jesse (Sue) Goble, Jr., Randy (Vicki) Goble and Nancy (Goble) (William) Hall; twin brother of Priscilla "Sissy" Heider of North Tonawanda; also survived by two brothers and three sisters; predeceased by two brothers; grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of two. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, June 17, 1948, the daughter of the late Dale and Melvina Platt Murray. She married William Lanighan June 18, 1983. Candy worked for Mulvey Construction in Lockport for several years. She moved to Newfane in 2002 from Wilson, NY. Candy enjoyed gardening, reading, movies and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mother of Jonathan Murchison of Wilson and Colleen (David) Glanz of Olcott, NY. Grandmother of Andrew Moore and Matthew Glanz. Sister of Daniel Murray of Niagara Falls, NY, Carolyn (James) Carline of TX, and Colleen (Kenneth) Haskins of MA. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

James E. Robins, Sr., age 70, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on June 24, 2013 in Ocala, FL. Born on February 22, 1943 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Harry and Rose (Caccamise) Robins.
He was a dedicated worker and mostly enjoyed remodeling, building, carpentry work and cooking. Also, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Carol A. (Nichols) Robins, whom he married in 1976; five children, Scott (Christa) Robins and Karrie (Richard) Tavano, both of South Carolina, Debra Alvarez, Michael Lauser and Christine Patterson, all of Niagara Falls. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by three brothers, William, Richard and Robert also of Niagara Falls. James had eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by his son, James E. (Lisa) Robins, Jr.; great-grandson, Michael Maye, Jr.; and sister, Sharon (Kaveda) Charles.
A private service will be held for family and close friends.
