James M. Lockhart of Royalton, June 25, 2013. Born on March 3, 1952 in Lockport, he was a son of the late Cecil "James" and Mary Alice (Beakman) Lockhart.
A 1971 graduate of Akron Central Schools, where he would later work; he had also worked for the Village of Akron and most recently AirSep in Amherst. He enjoyed golf, racing, and spending time with family.
Besides his mother, he is survived by a brother, Tim (Ramona) Lockhart of Youngstown; a sister, Mary Alice Lockhart of Lockport; a niece, Stacy (Dan) Price; a nephew, Tim (Rochelle) Lockhart, all of Lockport.
Visitation will be on Thursday 6-9 PM in the Ross Funeral Home Gaul Chapel, 263 East Avenue, Lockport, where Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 10 AM followed by burial in Cold Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of one's choice.

NEWFANE — Donald L. Weir, of Newfane, NY, entered into rest on Monday, June 26, 2012 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport, NY. Donald was born in the Town of Royalton, NY, the son of the late Lester and Irene Yago Weir. He worked at Niagara Implement for many years. He enjoyed watching sports, playing lottery and going to the horse races.

Brother of the late Anna Rose Baehr, Maryanne Dunlap and Howard Weir. Brother-in-law of Marilyn Weir of Burt, NY. Uncle of Linda (William) Kay, Alan Weir, Debbie (Thomas) Fabian and Brenda (William) Kellner. Also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Wesley R. Baes passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY. Born in Lockport on February 11, 1938, he was the son of the late Roland and Ada Turrell Baes.
He graduated from the University of Buffalo with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Electrical Engineering. Wesley worked at Mattel in Medina, NY, for over 25 years as a fork truck operator. He enjoyed Ham Radio and also airplanes, Wesley had his Pilot License and had studied to be an aircraft mechanic.
Wesley is survived by his wife of 44 years, Vicki (nee Royer) Baes of Albion; and his children, Shane Baes of Albion, Tarrah (John) Owen of Rochester, Chandra Baes of Florida and Bryce Baes of Albion. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Xion, Kyrah, Daryn, T'Saia, Mallory and Alaric. Wesley was the brother of Eugene (Nancy) Baes; and he is survived by nieces and nephews.

William S. Mumau of Yellville, AR, formerly of Lockport, NY, lost his battle to cancer on Sunday, June 23,2013. He was born to the late Murray and Carol Mumau. Bill graduated from Starpoint High School and retired from Harrison Radiators. He enjoyed motorcycle riding,hunting,fishing,and time on the lake.
He is survived by his daughters, Regina Morris, Carol Mumau, Brandi Mumau, Susan Mumau; and grandchildren, Ashlin Hill, Shamaru Lewis, Davion Palmer, Damien Mumau, Amaya Mumau, Paris Robertson and Kaydence Edwards. Mrs. Schuyler was a past president of the North Tonawanda Senior Center. She was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ and was very involved in the Women's Fellowship. She was a 20-year employee of Ames Department Store in North Tonawanda. Her family and her grandchildren were the center of her life. She was the wife of the late Leaon M. Schuyler who died in 1992. Beloved mother of Mrs. Gerald (Barbara) Goupil, Sr. of the Town of Wheatfield and Mrs. Richard D. (Priscilla) Hellmers, Jr. of Kokomo, IN; grandmother of three grandsons, Gerald (Heather) Goupil, Jr. and Andre Goupil, both of the Town of Wheatfield and Jason Goupil of Ravenna, OH; and two granddaughters, Tabatha Hellmers of South Bend, IN and Naomi (Ty) Kendall of Kokomo, IN; great-grandmother of seven great-grandchildren. PENDLETON — Joan C. Spatorico (nee Luick), age 67, of Pendleton, NY, passed away, unexpectedly, on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on October 7, 1944, the daughter of the late Ella H. (nee Haseley) and Carl E. Luick. Joan was a City of Niagara Falls tennis champion in 1960 and a graduate of LaSalle High School in 1962. She married the late Salvatore B. Spatorico on November 15, 1969 in St. Joseph's Church. Mrs. Spatorico's pastimes included bowling, camping, fishing, spending time with her family, her trips to the casino and especially being a full time grandmother.

Joan is survived by her loving sons, John (Kelly Skrzypek) Spatorico of North Tonawanda, NY and Thomas (Valerie Tauro) Spatorico of Pendleton, NY; six cherished grandchildren, Griffin, Austin, Paige, Samantha, Peyton and Anthony; caring brother, Paul Luick; dear brother-in-law, Anthony (Nancy) Spatorico of Columbia, SC; one nephew, Derrick Spatorico of Rochester, NY; two nieces, Paula Luick of Niagara Falls, NY and Cheryl Farsalas of Chicago, IL; dear friend of Daniel and Miriam Leone.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Scott Francis Sullivan died on June 25, 2012, in Pittsburgh, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Buffalo on October 1, 1957, a son of Sandra Dixson and grandson of Rosemarie and Joseph Dixson.

Scott attended local schools and then served in the United States Navy aboard the submarine John F. Kennedy in the Pacific. He worked as a cook in many area restaurants, most recently at the Jetport, a job he loved. He enjoyed gardening and his time with his family, especially his much loved dog, Rosie.

In addition to his mother, Sandra, Scott was the beloved husband of Susan (Friedman) Sullivan; loving stepfather to Leslie (Dan) Haick. He is also survived by his brother, Christian (Mira) Dixson of Washington; brother-in-law, Mike (Carol) Strasburg of California; his niece and best man, Annie Strasburg; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Lillian C. "Lee" (nee Fiorentini) Mancini, 93, of Palm Harbor, FL, formerly of Niagara Falls, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013 in A Rose Garden Assisted Living in Palm Harbor, FL. She was born in Cabin Creek, WV on February 8, 1920. Daughter of the late Frances (nee Lopez) and Fiorino Fiorentini.
Mrs. Mancini studied Opera in New York and sang as a soprano. On June 20, 1946, the former Lillian Fiorentini married Frank J. "Chickie" Mancini in St. Joseph's Church. He passed away on August 18, 1996.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Linda) Mancini of Tarpon Springs, FL; a brother, Fred Fiorentini of Niagara Falls, NY; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, David J. Mancini; four siblings, the late Mary Infantino, Olympia Ambrosia, Virgil Fiorentini and Edwin Fiorentini.

Born on April 7, 1920 in Heflin, AL, she was the daughter of William Henry and Icie C. Harris Grubbs. She was a retired sales clerk working at Sears and lastly, Cordays. She was a volunteer at Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport, and member of St. Joseph's Church She loved her family, flowers and enjoyed singing, telling stories and laughing. She was an inspiration and brought joy to all that knew her.

Wife of the late Angelo M. Renna; mother of Ida R. (William) Quade of Lockport, Anthony (Sharon) Renna of Ft. Myers Beach, FL, and Michael J. (Carol) Renna of Lockport; grandmother of A. Stephen (Kimberly) Renna, Jonathan M. WHEATON, IL — Elizabeth W. Milleville, age 94,was called to her heavenly home on June 23, 2012 at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living Center in Wheaton, IL. Born on August 13, 1917 in Wheatfield, NY, she was the daughter of the late Rheinard and Alma (Wendt) Ziemendorf.

Elizabeth graduated from North Tonawanda High School and worked for Wendt's Dairy. She married Albert Milleville on July 19, 1947 and was a member of St James Ev. Lutheran Church in Bergholz for more than 60 years, serving as a Sunday School teacher and volunteered in many other areas of the church. Elizabeth was also a 4-H leader and also worked for Hens & Kelly Department Store. Her interests included gardening, reading, and spending time with and caring for family, She was disappointed that she was not able to attend college to become a teacher, so she imparted on family, friends, and acquaintances the importance of education and lifelong learning.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, William Ziemendorf; sister, Jane Ziemendorf; husband, Albert; and daughter, Nancy. Elizabeth is survived by children, Dan (Marcia) of Arnold, MD, and Jon (Cathy) of Wheaton, IL; a brother, Lloyd Ziemendorf; grandchildren, Shawn (Diane) , Nathan (Kristina), Andrew (Emily), Laura, and Ken; great-grandchild, Beata; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered as a Christian, a cookie-maker, a gardener and a caretaker.

He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, June 7, 1938, the son of the late Ferdinand and Florence Coombs Eberhart. He married Marian Smith September 19, 1959 in Galveston, TX.

George was a US Navy veteran who served his country from 1956-1960. He worked for Harrison Radiator for 30 years, retiring June 1, 1994.

George was Past Master of Hartland Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed reading, playing cards and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Father of Jackie L. (Kevin) Bowes of Lockport, NY and the late James Eberhart. Grandfather of Kyle and Samantha Bowes and Hannah Fisher. RANSOMVILLE — Sophie E. Preisch, age 81, of Ransomville, died Thursday, June 27, 2013 in her home, under the loving care of her family and Niagara Hospice.

Sophie was born November 4, 1931 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Martin and Catherine (Gwoudz) Bank. She married Mervin C. Preisch on July 30, 1955, and they have lived in Ransomville the past 50 years. Sophie had worked as a Nurse's Aide, employed by Mt. View Health Facility in Lockport for 20 years, retiring in 1992. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Mervin; her children, Irene (Dale) Myers and Stephen J. Preisch, both of Ransomville; her granddaughters, Madeline Myers (A.J. Zaepfel) and Michelle Myers; a great-granddaughter, Natalie Zaepfel; a sister, Stella Adamczyk of the Town of Niagara; a brother, Edward (Genevieve) Bank of Lewiston; a sister-in-law, Althea Conklin of Fitchburg, MA, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Davis and Genevieve Nasiadaka; and three brothers, Matthew, William and Joseph Bank.

Kenneth G. Sawyer passed away peacefully in hospice care on December 5, 2023 at the age of 96. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY to William J. and Isabel Sawyer (Ball). He was predeceased by his first wife, Delores J. Sawyer (Ruhlman), and is survived by his wife Bette "Joanie" Sawyer (Cooper) of West Palm Beach, FL.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kim (Bryan) Stockwell and Dawn (Jim) Murphy III and stepchildren Julie (Mark) Bowman, Tim (Kelli) Thomasson, Chris Thomasson, Dan Grove & Kim Thomasson.
He is survived by ten grandchildren: Shawna, Matthew, Alyssa, Shanna, JC, Angela, Joey, Aleya, Brandon & Tyler. Also, ten great-grandchildren: Cayden, Tripp, Bayley, William, Makayla, Jase, Harry, Hess, Hugh and Cooper.
Kenneth is also survived by one sister, Shirley (deceased Gordon) Oldfield of Lockport, NY. Preceding him in death are three sisters; Louise Mayville, Dorothy Sawyer of Niagara Falls and Irene McClain of Rochester, NY, and two brothers William J. Sawyer Jr. and Arthur C. Sawyer of Niagara Falls, NY, as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
He attended Trott Vocational High School in Niagara Falls, NY and then served in the United States Army from 1945-1947. He transferred to the reserves in Germany as a Sgt in the Signal Corp for four years, which included work in Belgium. Upon returning to the States, he worked for twenty-four years with the International Paper Company of Niagara Falls. In 1967 he moved his family to West Palm Beach, FL, starting a new career with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier.
He loved all sports, competing in softball, basketball and bowling. He received the IPC Sportsmanship Award for basketball. He loved his Buffalo Bills, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Yankees and the Atlanta Braves. Another passion of his was singing, he was known by many in Boynton Beach, FL as the "Singing Mailman". His singing brought joy and happiness to people at weddings, nursing homes and his church where he sang in the choir for many years.
Ken and his family would like to thank all his family and friends for their loving and caring support. Also, his caregivers Denise & Jeymie, who became like family.
A celebration of life service will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 100 N. Palmway, Lake Worth Beach, FL 33460 on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 10:00am.

NIAGARA FALLS — Thomas H. Kennedy of Niagara Falls, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2011 after a brief illness. He was 89. He was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on September 24, 2011, a son of Thomas H. and Maryann (McCartney) Kennedy, Sr.

Mr. Kennedy moved to the United States when he was six, attended local schools, and graduated from Trott Vocational School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Aerial Gunner from 1942 to 1946, serving in the European Theater from 1944-1946. Mr. Kennedy received numerous citations including the American and European Service Medals, African and Middle Eastern Service Medals, Good Conduct and World War II Victory Medals and the European Theater Battle Star. After the War, he worked at Union Carbide where he retired as a Supply Engineer. He enjoyed coaching hockey, bowling, was a member of the Niagara Falls Auxiliary Police and a member and past Commander of VFW Post 917.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Anita (Turrill) Kennedy; two daughters, Patricia Kennedy of Hillsdale Michigan and Anita (Angelo) Fama of Niagara Falls; five grandchildren, Tammy Kennedy, Shannon (James) Barker of Niagara Falls; Sheri Fama of California, Kari (Todd) Birchfield of Hillsdale, MI and Angelo Fama II of Niagara Falls. WILSON - Beatrice Martha Brawn, age 100, entered into peaceful rest on Thursday, June 28, 2012. Born February 27, 1912 in Wilson, she was a daughter of the late Emil and Mary Katherine (Drewes) Schuman.

Beatrice was a lifelong resident of Wilson. As a child she attended a one-room school house and worked on the family farm, tending to an egg route and Welch's Grape Vineyards. She married the late Thomas Bates Brawn, Jr. and they opened and managed the Ferguson Tractor Dealership in Wilson. She was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Ridge; The Altar Guild, and a charter member of the Wilson Conservation Club Auxiliary. Most dear to her heart were her family and friends, always putting others before herself.

Surviving her are two daughters, Rosemary (William) Smith of Wilson and Renee (James) Reynolds of Lockport; and one son, Larry (Muriel) Brawn of Anderson, SC. She is also survived by five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Wayne and George Pink.

Florence was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. She had worked for Helf's and Mississippi Muds for 31 years. She loved camping, boating and doing word puzzles.

She was the wife of the late Nelson Broecker, who died 1n 1999. Beloved mother of Barbara (Albert) Stellmacher and Sandra (Eugene) Martin, both of North Tonawanda, and Ronald Broecker of Milton, FL. NORTH TONAWANDA — Marjorie J. (Dimond) Hollinger, a lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013 in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. She was 96. She was born on December 31, 1916, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Mina Belle (Burmingham) Dimond. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School.

During World War II, Mrs. Hollinger was employed as a production worker at the former Niagara Searchlight Company and then for several years as a seamstress with the Singer Sewing Machine Company. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children, Martha J. (Joseph) Cram and Judith E. (James) Taylor, all of Murchison, TX and Duncan C. Hollinger of Niagara Falls; her siblings, Kenneth (Emily) Dimond of Port Charlotte, FL, Paul (Joan) Dimond of Pittsburgh, PA, and Verla (Allan) Barlow of Freedom, PA; her niece, Mrs. Ann Newman of North Tonawanda, NY; grandchildren, James and Joseph Cram, Judy Ryles, Jeff, Terry and Peter Wackett and Jennifer Wright; 21 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hollinger was predeceased by her husband, James Hollinger in 1997; brothers, Donald and Richard Dimond; a sister, Ruth Neuman and grandchildren, Roger Wackett, Cheryl Cram and James Wackett; and great-granddaughter, Lauren Cram.

NIAGARA FALLS — William F. "Billy" Siuta, Jr., 77 years old, passed away on June 29, 2013, at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. He was born in Niagara Falls on September 23, 1935, the son of the late William F. and Mary (Skurski) Siuta.

Billy was a graduate of the former Bishop Duffy High School and received his master's degree in teaching from Buffalo State College. He served with the United States Marine Corps from August 31, 1953 until his honorable discharge with the rank of Sergeant on August 30, 1956. Billy was a teacher at Gaskill Junior High School and was the Parks Director for the City of Niagara Falls. He later was a special education teacher at Niagara Orleans BOCES and retired in 1992. Billy loved to fish and was a member of the Niagara River Anglers Association, the National Fishing Lures Collectors Club and the American Legion Portage Post #1465.

Billy is survived by his son, Rick (Tammy) Siuta and daughter, Robin (Stephen) Norwich, both of Niagara Falls. He is survived by his grandchildren, Elizabeth Norwich, Ryan Siuta, Christopher Norwich, Jimi Siuta, Jared Siuta and Trent Siuta, and his great-granddaughter, Rachael Linnane. He is also survived by his sisters, MaryAnn (Paul) Usavage of Chester Springs, PA and Vicky (Alfred) Grabka of Niagara Falls; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen E. (Michaels) Siuta, who passed away on February 19, 1999.

Alice was a longtime member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatfield. She was a devoted homemaker, loving wife and mother. Alice enjoyed getting together with her family, playing cards, sewing and fishing.

Predeceased by her first husband, Leland W. Sherwood in 1972, she is survived by her husband, Charles W. Lewis. They were united in marriage on April 16, 1976; four children, Timothy (Debbie) Sherwood of Acworth, GA, Dan (Karen) Sherwood of Pendleton, Karen (Steve) Palistrant of Sanborn and Doyle (Linda) Lewis of Camden, SC; fifteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Wallace Lemke; a sister, Betty Ernst; and several nieces and nephews. Edward Elmer Clayton, 77, of Ransomville, NY, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2014. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Victoria Rachwal and Elmer Clayton.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Donna (Arns) Clayton, twin sons, Christopher (Bonnie) Clayton, and Kirk Clayton, all of Ransomville, NY; three grandchildren, Lindsey (Christian) Seemayer, Ryan Clayton, and Kyle Clayton; a brother, William (Karen) Clayton of Kenmore, NY, and a sister, Kathleen Hare of Anaheim, CA; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Edward graduated from the former Trott High School in 1955. Following graduation, he joined the United States Marine Cors, where he served for two years before attending Erie County Technical School and becoming a journeyman millwright. He worked for DuPont and Carborundum in Niagara Falls, NY, before going to GM Engine Plant in Tonawanda, NY. He retired from GM after 30 years. He was an avid fisherman, boater, wood-carver, travel enthusiast, and family man. He attended the Dickersonville United Methodist Church (later Hope United Methodist), where he taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.

Harold "Bud" Edwin Bergquist, age 88, of Lockport, entered into rest on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Briody Health Care Facility. Born on December 25, 1925 in Buffalo, Harold is the son of the late Edwin W. and Olga (Erickson) Bergquist. Harold married Jane Goss on July 18, 1944 at St. Stephen's Church in Buffalo. Jane died on November 8, 2013. Jane and Harold had been married for 69 years.
He had worked at Harrison Radiator in Lockport retiring in 1988 after 25 years. He had also worked at Loblaws as a meat manager for 20 years. An avid bowler, Harold bowled for several different teams. He enjoyed family picnics, playing pinochle, watching baseball and dining out. Jane and Harold have lived in Lockport for the past 55 years.
Surviving Harold is a son, Harold "Jim" (Cathy) Bergquist of Wolcottsville; dear friend of Duanne and Joanne Bartz of Lockport. Harold is also survived by eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law of Linda Bergquist of Gasport and Ginger Bergquist of Tuscon, AZ. Several nieces and nephews also survive Harold. Besides his wife, Jane, Harold was predeceased by a son, David R. Bergquist, Sr.; and brothers, Roland and Donald Bergquist.

Jose M. Garcia, age 80, of Ransomville, died unexpectedly at his residence on Sunday, June 1, 2014. Jose was born on August 14, 1933 in the Town of Saltillo in Coahuila, Mexico, the son of the late Jesus and Maria (Amador) Garcia.
He was an U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1953 to his honorable discharge in 1955 and the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. Jose played in bands in Mexico and San Antonio, TX and it was through this love of music that he met the love of his life, Anne May Krizan, while stationed at Fort Niagara. They were married on April 7, 1956 and they moved to Ransomville in 1961. Jose received his Associates Degree in Accounting from Niagara County Community College. He was employed by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Niagara Falls, NY for 25 years, retiring in 1987 as a Senior Cost Accountant.
Jose was a communicant of Immaculate Conception RC Church in Ransomville. He and Anne raised a very musical family and he loved performing for his family and friends. He enjoyed working in his yard, antiquing, and attending garage sales as well as playing cards, practicing calligraphy, and wood carving. Jose loved making his homemade salsa and was called "The Salsa Guy" by his family and friends.
He was deeply in love with Anne who predeceased him in 2011. Ever devoted to her, Jose lovingly cared for her throughout her eight-year illness. He is survived by his children, Jose M. Garcia, Jr. (Jolee Stone) of Sanford, FL, Victor Garcia of Sanborn, and Cara (Kevin) Krzyzanowski of Strongsville, OH; his grandchildren, Jason, David, and Joseph Garcia, Kelly and Kevin Krzyzanowski, Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Isabel Garcia; a sister, Lilia Flores; and a brother, Victor Armando Garcia, both of Whittier, CA. He was predeceased by a brother, Jesus Garcia.

Michael J. McDermid, CLU, ChFC, CLTC, 66, of Lewiston, NY, passed from this life on Saturday, May 31, 2014 in Crane Lake, Ontario, Canada. Born on May 28, 1948 in Nashville, TN, he was the son of the late Dr. William and Mary (Harmon) McDermid.
Mr. McDermid was raised in Niagara Falls, NY. Michael attended local schools and graduated from the former Bishop Duffy High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from John Carroll University in Cleveland, OH and his graduate degree from the University at Buffalo. Mr. McDermid proudly served in the United States Army, during the early 1970's. On June 20, 1970, Michael married the former Karen J. Schulz. He was employed as a General Agent of MassMutual Financial Group in Buffalo, NY and for the past eight years served as Chairman of McDermid Financial Group. Mr. McDermid served as Past-President of MassMutual's General Agents Association and was a Past-President board member of the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site and Estate Analysts of WNY. Michael was an active contributor to the United States Olympic Team and Wounded Warrior Project. He enjoyed maintaining his cars and spending time at the family cottage in Canada.
In addition to his beloved wife of 44 years, Mr. McDermid is survived by one son, Geoffrey M. (Serena) McDermid; one daughter, Colleen (Michael) Powers; grandchildren, Matthew and Candace McDermid, Dave West and Adam (Becca), Melissa, Matthew and Tyler Powers and one great-grandson, Chad. Michael is also survived by two sisters, Catherine Chapman and Mary (Richard) Bryant; and several nieces and nephews.

William C. Lasal of Medina, passed away on Monday evening, June 2, 2014 at the Medina Memorial Healthcare System. Mr. Lasal was born in the Town of Hartland on April 11, 1916 son of the late Charles and Emma (Haner) Lasal and he has lived in the area all of his life. He and his wife, Ruth J. Lasal, were married on June 29, 1940 and she predeceased him in 2003.
He was employed at Harrison Radiator Div., GMC retiring in 1980, was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Wolcottsville and a former member of the Shelby Fire Company. Mr. Lasal enjoyed his family, carpentry - he built three houses and he also enjoyed his dog, Cindy, and playing the drums.
He was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Lasal; and a sister, Irene Laatsch. He is survived by two sons and one daughter, Norman C. (Carolyn) Lasal of Gasport, Ronald (JoAnne) Lasal of Kendall and Judith Ann (David) Underhill of Batavia; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, a dear friend Millie Knights of Medina; and several nieces and nephews.

BERGHOLZ — Arlene V. (Ausderau) Fuerch, age 88, of Bergholz, was called to her heavenly home on June 30, 2010 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Clearmont, PA on January 2, 1922 to the late Arthur and Vada (Huey) Ausderau. Arlene moved to Niagara Falls, NY, as a child and attended schools in Wheatfield and Niagara Falls. She was united in marriage to Norbert Fuerch on June 27, 1942. Arlene was a long time member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Bergholz, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and Altar Guild. She was a charter member of the Bergholz Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and served as their first president. Arlene was employed at the Carborundum Abrasives Division and as a bus driver in the Niagara Wheatfield School District. Hobbies and interest included sewing, needlepoint, quelling, ceramics, crocheting, baking, and enjoyed going on many trips with her husband, with the Bergholz German Band. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Norbert Fuerch; four children, Gerry (Sharon) Fuerch of Bergen, NY, Linda (Randy) Jasulevich of Pendleton, Les (Mary) Fuerch of Bergholz and Duane (Janine) Fuerch of Niagara Falls; a sister, Elvera Dotter of Niagara Falls; seven grandchildren, David, Fay, Kari, Melissa, Matthew, Michael and Rebecca; five great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Bonnie, Alex, Abigail and Norah; and many nieces and nephews. YOUNGSTOWN — Hazel S. Falkner, of Youngstown, NY, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Born on May 29, 1920 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Roy and Katherine (Stamler) Shafer.

She was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School in 1938 then attended to Roberts Beauty School in Buffalo. Hazel worked as a Professional Model for the Spirella Corsett Co. Niagara Falls for 22 years and then owned her Beauty Shop called ''Beauty by Joni" for 31 years, retiring in 1987. She attended the Youngstown Senior Citizens and Lewiston Seniors for many years and was a member of the Hair Dressers & Cosmetologists Assoc. Hazel enjoyed helping the elderly community in Youngstown, and was most well known for her many stylist hats.

Hazel was predeceased by her husbands, Earl Lenhart and Carl Falkner; and a sister, Dolores Dick. She is survived by a brother, Roy (Patricia) Shafer of Youngstown; her step-son, William Falkner III (Sue Walsh); a step-grandaughter, Jessica Falkner; her longtime companion, Earl Honadle; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville, on Friday from 3:00-7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held on Saturday (July 2nd) at 11:00 AM with Rev. LOCKPORT - Gordon H. Bald passed away on June 2, 2014 in Briody Health Care Facility. Born in Lockport on May 13, 1930, he was the son of Herbert and Mildred (Zimmerman) Bald.

Gordon graduated from Lockport High School with a degree in vocational machine shop. After serving with distinction in the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp., he worked for a while afterwards building up his engineering skills. In 1955 he, along with two other good friends, started Diversified Manufacturing, which continues to be a thriving business today, providing jobs for many people.

He loved sailing and was a former fleet captain in the Olcott Yacht Club. He was an avid runner who had done several 13-mile runs, a clever inventor and woodworker, a lover of nature and classical music, golf, and anything challenging. His favorite expression was, "Just take the bull by the horns!" He had a playful childlike sense of wonder, an adventurous spirit and enthusiasm for life. He was considered by all who knew him as the most caring, loving, kind, honest, industrious, generous man to ever walk this earth.

Gordon is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Glorian; daughters, Deborah (Terrence) Gallagher, Dr. Susan (Peter) Marion; sons, David (Anne) Bald and Robert (Diana) Bald; stepdaughters, Judy (Charles) Weidenborner, Sharon (Chet) Basiewicz, Susan (Peter) Holguin, Dawn Hammond; stepsons, Larry (Peg) Simons and Ronald Simons. Also grandchildren, Nathaniel Gallagher, Elizabeth (Gallagher) Chesko, Andrew Gallagher, Kyle Gallagher, Carly Corriere, Rain Bald, Gordon A. Bald, Nichaela Bald, Austin Bald, Lee Marion, Dean Marion, Gregory Brock, Stephanie Brock, Paul Greiner, Drew Brigham and Spencer Brigham, and several great-grandchildren.

LEWISTON — Dominick C. Massaro, 79, of Lewiston, NY, died on Monday, June 4, 2012 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Dominic and Rose (Falcone) Massaro.

Dominick, a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area, attended local schools. He later earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN, and served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1957 with the 56th field artillery battalion. Dominick was a well-known prominent builder and developer with over fifty years of experience. He was an owner and served as president of Sicoli and Massaro General Contractors, Inc., in the Town of Niagara. Among the many area projects constructed under Dominick's direction were Coca Cola Field in Buffalo, NY; Harry F. Abate Elementary School and Cataract Elementary School, both in the Niagara Falls School District, the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission Administration Building in Lewiston, NY; the construction of the DuPont Niachlor Plant in Niagara Falls, NY; the Seneca Niagara Hotel and Casino and Seneca Allegany Hotel and Casino development, both in Niagara Falls and Salamanca, NY; the Historical Square and Ridgeview Apartments in Lewiston, NY and the M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel in the Town of Niagara.

Dominick also shared a partnership in the joint venture of the Historical Square Apartments and Ridgeview Apartments in Lewiston, NY; owned the Military Square Plaza and served as President and C.E.O. of the L.R.F. Construction Company, Inc. Dominick was active in several business and civic organizations including the General Building Contractors of Western New York, Associated General Contractors of America and Niagara Falls Country Club. He was also a member and served as past president of the Building Industry Employers Association of Niagara County, as a board trustee for the Laborers Local #91 Welfare, Pension and SUB Funds, as vice chairman of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, chairman of their capital campaign and served on the board of directors of the Y.M.C.A. of Niagara County. Dominick was an avid golfer, world traveler and enjoyed playing cards. In his leisure time he also loved electronics and photography.

Dominick is survived by his wife, Joy (DeVito) Massaro; one daughter, Lisa (Kent) Keating of Amherst, NY; one granddaughter, Chloe Joy of Amherst, NY; five siblings, Ann (late Sam) Russo, Frank (late Dolores) Massaro, Mary (late Benjamin) Sicoli, Richard (late Joyce) Massaro, all of Lewiston, NY and Angelo (Louise) Massaro of Niagara Falls, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Angeline (Arthur of Rushford, NY) Marinucci.

There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service in honor of Dominick on Friday, June 8th at 10 AM at the Niagara Falls Country Club, 505 Mountain View Drive, Lewiston, NY. LAS VEGAS, NV — Audrey M. Olivero, age 83, died May 16, 2013, while under the care of Hospice in Las Vegas.

Audrey was born January 17, 1930 in Niagara Falls, NY. She was the daughter of Arthur H.W. Conrad and Anne (Brenner) Conrad. The family lived in the German Village of Bergholz before moving to Niagara Falls in 1951. The family were members of St. James Lutheran Church in Bergholz.

Audrey was a hard working lady and worked in the restaurant business most of her life. Audrey worked as a waitress at the Ray Ott Club, Prospect House, Treadway Inn, Ramada Inn, and was the hostess at John's Flaming Hearth in the 1960s and 1970s.

Audrey and her husband, Louis J. Olivero, moved to Las Vegas in 1974. She opened a cosmetic nail shop and had many celebrities as customers. She was also a hostess at the Imperial Palace and worked in management at the Riviera Hotel and Casino.

Audrey was a loving woman who was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She always went out of her way to make everybody happy. She will be greatly missed.

Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Louis J. Olivero. She is survived by her son, Ronald C. (Alexandra) Vigue of Ft. Myers, FL; daughter, Ann Marie Vigue, Las Vegas, NV; son, Robert Olivero, Prescott, AZ; sister, Christine Rolling, Niagara Falls, NY; grandchildren, Heather (Bryan) Murphey, Naples, FL; grandson, Ronald G. (Sabrina) Vigue, Newton, MA; great-grandchildren, Alex, Graham and Hadley Murphey, and Alice and Maxwell Vigue. She was also predeceased by her brother, Arthur Conrad, Jr.; and first husband, Bun C. Vigue. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held in Las Vegas.

F. Elaine Pethybridge died at home on May 30, 2014. She is survived by her son, Robert Howard and daughter-in-law, Marie Spear-Howard; and several nieces and nephews.
Elaine was a graduate of NFHS, University of Fredonia with degrees in Music and Elementary Education. She received her Masters from SUNY Albany and she taught in the Niagara Falls School District until her retirement in 1994. Upon retiring, she became a landscape designer. She was an honored Life-Member of the First Unitarian Universalist church of Niagara Falls. She was also a Civil Rights Activist and in 1963 and she left her home and family, in Youngstown NY, to help with voter registration in Birmingham, AL.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Unitarian Universalist Church at 639 Main Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14301 on Saturday, June 14th at 2:00 PM. BUFFALO - Gail C. (Hatch) Beutel, 61, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Clara (Silvester) Hatch.

Gail was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. In September 1982, she married James M. Beutel. Gail was employed by Xerox Business Services, Inc. in Niagara Falls as a student loan support specialist for over 11 years. Gail had a love for animals, especially dogs, and was an avid supporter of the S.P.C.A. She also enjoyed antiques but above all, Gail was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband of 29 years, Gail is survived by one daughter, Lisa (Nicoletti) Yamonaco of Wheatfield, NY; two grandchildren, Morgan and Dominic Yamonaco; one sister, Shelley (Tom) Laudico of Buffalo, NY; two nieces, Lauren Laudico and Maria Laudico; as well as several cousins and her beloved dog, Jessie. She was also predeceased by one brother, Gary Hatch.

He was a Hot Stick Lineman for Niagara Mohawk retiring in 1994. Jerry was a veteran of the National Guard, and was a member of the Lake Chautauqua Memorial Post VFW in Mayville, and a past member of the Chautauqua Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Cantara Winters, whom he married on April 13, 1957 in Ransomville, NY; a son, Randy (Candi) Winters of Fredonia; two daughters, Diane (George Rance) Winters of Buffalo, and Patricia (Michael) Jusko of North Tonawanda; four grandchildren, Timothy and Mathew Winters, Derek and Morgan Jusko; a sister, Susan McDonald of Ransomville, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Laurie Winters; and a brother, Roger Winters.

Church. Mary was a Registered Nurse and worked at the Columbus Hospital Emergency Room for 31 years. She was an avid animal protector and often rescued cats. She was always going to yard sales and was always buying for friends and family. She was a generous and giving person. Daughter of the late Ralph and Carolina Nobilio, and sister of the late Elmer and Anna Nobilio.

Loving sister of Eleanor C. Nobilio of North Tonawanda. Aunt of five nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews and friends.

She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on April 4, 1920, the daughter of the late Walter and Gertrude (Schultz) Meyer.

Mrs. Ulrich was the wife of the late Clarence T. Ulrich, who died on June 21, 1986; and the sister of the late Ruth G. Schultz.

She attended the Kelley Business School. Mrs. Ulrich was an executive secretary at Occidental Petroleum in Niagara Falls, NY, for 38 years before retiring in July of 1978. She was an active member at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Buffalo, NY.

Mrs. Ulrich is survived by her nephews, Peter M. (Jane) Schultz of Owego, NY and Jonathan M. (Suzanne) Schultz of Lewiston, NY; also many grand-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Lutheran, 1080 Main St., Buffalo, NY, with the Rev. Lee Miller officiating. Memorials may be made in her name to Our Lady of Peace Nursing Residence, 5285 Lewiston Rd., Lewiston, NY 14092. Interment was in the Erie Cemetery, Erie, PA. NEWFANE — Edna A. Pipiles, of Newfane, NY, wife of Diamond Pipiles, entered into rest on Saturday, June 4, 2011 in Largo Medical Center, Florida. She was born in Lockport, NY, on February 21, 1933, the daughter of the late William and Bessie Thiemke Mittelstadt.

They moved to Newfane in 1967 from Lockport and have owned and operated Pipiles Farm since 1967. Edna and Diamond have wintered in Florida since 1997. She enjoyed reading, crafts and baking wedding cakes and cross word puzzles. She also was very artistic with anything that Edna crafted. Edna was known for her hard work at the farm stand on Lockport-Olcott Road.

Mother of Ernest (Vadonna) of Wilson, Deborah (Claude Woolley) Pipiles of Gasport, Diamond (Nancy) of North Dakota, William (Margie) of Newfane, Karen (Alex) Andrews of Grand Island, Edward and Matthew Pipiles, both of Newfane and the late Connie Weir. Mother-in-law of Alan Weir of Newfane. Sister of Annajean Zdrojewski, Edward Mittelstadt, Mabel Howes, Ethel Edmister and the late William and Willard Mittelstadt. Also survived by 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

BERGHOLZ — We announce with great sadness that Jeffrey A. Marohn, of Bergholz, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 8, 2013. He was in the arms of his wife, daughter and grandsons and under the care of Niagara Hospice.

He was born in North Tonawanda, NY, on December 14, 1954, the son of the late Donald and Neatrice (Shortsleeve) Marohn.

Jeff graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School in 1973. He was a fork lift mechanic with E. D. Farrell, working at various companies in the area for over 30 years.

Jeff loved sharing his mechanical knowledge with his grandsons, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends in his garage and watching the birds. Most of all, he loved to spend time with the love of his life wife Brenda; they were known as the "Honeymoon Couple".

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Brenda M. (Haseley) Marohn; they were married on June 28, 1975; one daughter, Deena (Mike) Chaffee of the Town of Niagara; two grandsons, Gage M. and Blake A. Chaffee; two brothers, Donald and James Marohn; three sisters, Sandee (Ronald) Stacy, Sharon (John) Hess and Becky Empson; the son-in-law of Alice (late Raymond) Haseley; the brother-in-law of Gordon (Sharen) Haseley, Russell (Barbara) Haseley, Robert (Dale) Haseley, Sandra (Donald) Slusser, Barbara (Bruce) Haseley, Deborah (John) Galleciez, Joyce (William) Schimschack, Gregory (MaryEllen) Haseley, Jeffery (Kathleen) Haseley, Kevin (Lori) Haseley, Glenn (Bonnie) Haseley, Brent (Deborah) Haseley; also many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Donna Marohn; brother-in-law of the late Vickie Haseley and uncle of the late Matthew Haseley.

BRADENTON, FL — Joseph Clarence Patterson, Sr., 79, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Lewiston, NY, passed away June 6, 2013. He was born October 19, 1933 in Niagara Falls, NY to parents Clarence Patterson and Anna Bailys.

Joe was predeceased by one sister, Lorraine Zajaczkowski and one daughter, Joanne Jeckovich. Joe is survived by his former wife, Dorothy Patterson and daughter, Virginia (Jerry) Keller, Bradenton; life-long companion of 40 years, Betty Winters; two sons, Kevin P. Patterson and Joseph C. Patterson, Jr.; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Joe was a Korean War veteran who was honorably discharged from the United States Army, member of Moose Lodge 1072 (Bradenton),Fraternal Order of Eagles #4424 (Bradenton) and Disabled American Veterans. Joe was also an avid New York Yankees fan and avid pool player. He retired in 1978.

LEWISTON - Antoinette D. (Furnary) Lynn, 87, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. Born June 16, 1926 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Quarantello) Furnary and attended local schools. Antoinette worked as a Teletype operator for Western Union.

She is survived by her husband, Terrance Lynn and son, Douglas (Dawn) Lynn, all of Niagara Falls, NY. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Florence DeSantis, Anthony Luciano, Anna Paella, Angela Gangloff, Rose Edwards, Mary Furnary and Barbara Taibi. Also predeceased by her mother-in-law, Jean Lynn.

There will be No Prior Visitation. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Arrangements entrusted to ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC.

BUFFALO — Charlotte J. Bruening (Voelker), age 76, of the Town of Lewiston, was called to her heavenly home on June 9, 2011 in Buffalo General Hospital. Born in the Town of Niagara, NY on June 23, 2011 to the late Frederick and Viola (Collins) Voelker. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant with the Niagara Wheatfield School District, until her retirement. Charlotte was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls, member of the Sanbornite Seniors, enjoyed astrology, crocheting, rock collecting and was an avid reader.

Survivors include her son, Mark (Susan) Bruening of Mechanicsburg, PA; five grandchildren, Blaine (Brie) Bruening, Stephen Bruening, Daniel Bruening, Casey Coull and Cody Coull; and one great-grandchild, Colin Bruening. She was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Coull and a sister, Shirley Hileman.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, June 11 at 1:30 PM in the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road (Bergholz), in Wheatfield. Visitation will follow the service from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Interment will take place in Mount View Cemetery, Town of Cambria, on Monday at 9:30 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
