   BRANDON'S OBITUARY

Brandon J. Wellington, 41 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully, unexpectedly at
his home on February 26, 2024. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 16, 1982, he
was the son of Kathleen A. Del Prince (nee Winker, Wellington) and John D. Wellington.
He is survived by his loving mother Kathy Del Prince, and his 3 brothers: Adam (Sarah)
Wellington, Tory (Wendy) Del Prince, Brandon (Joanne) Del Prince; his cherished nieces
and nephews Sam (Jessica) Del Prince, Amber Del Prince (Tristan Thompson), Addison
and Parker Wellington; his cousin Tina Winker and her son Zachery, and many good
friends and neighbors. He is predeceased by his step-father Carl H. Del Prince, his step-
brother Carl Jr., and his dear cat Kiki.
Brandon had a very generous heart and spirit, and to him family was everything. He
enjoyed fishing, cooking and baking, tending to his “special garden”, and enjoying time
with his loving puppy Layla Violet. Brandon will be greatly missed by all of his friends and
family.
No prior visitation, the family will receive guests at his home.

Brent Joseph Graham, age 36, of Akron, NY, unexpectedly passed away, January 24, 2025. Beloved husband of Christina Graham (nee Schasel). Dear father of Kyleigh Graham. Son of Shelley (Dan) McDonald and the late Joseph Graham. Brother of Gabrielle (Zach) Misiak, and Garett (Ari Warriner) McDonald. Grandson of the late Donald and Joan Hoak and the late Richard and Betty Graham. He is survived by his best friend and cousin Adel Nero, and by many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.


Brent was a fun loving person with the heart of a kid. He cherished every minute he spent with his daughter. He was a collector of treasures, especially silver. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. He looked forward to traveling and vacations in Disney. He loved being outdoors and camping.


Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd. in Tonawanda, on Tuesday from 3-7 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:00 AM. (Middleport) Brent R. Ginty at age 71 passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, after a fierce three-year battle with an extremely aggressive form of Alzheimer’s Disease.
 
He was born October 26, 1952, in Lockport, a son of the late Henry Eugene and
Jeanette Bertha (Donner) Ginty.
 
After his 1970 graduation from Royalton-Hartland Central School, Brent served proudly in the New York Army National Guard from 1972-1978. He volunteered for over 30 years for the American Red Cross in Orleans County. He was a First Aid and CPR instructor and an instructor trainer. He was also a member of the Disaster Action Team, responding to local disasters, and took the
lead for the chapter during the 9/11 response. He was a life member and volunteer for Tri-Town Ambulance for 17 years and served several years as president. When his sons were young, he was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and never missed their sporting events. He attended most sporting events. for his grandchildren. Brent retired from Harrison Radiator (Delphi) in Lockport after 30
years, where he worked as a Forklift Operator. He enjoyed fast cars and the freedom of his motorcycle, bowling, golfing, hunting, camping, and being in the center of any party or family gathering. But most of all, he loved spending time.
with his family, especially his grandchildren. He never turned down an Ice-Cold Beer.
 
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Darlene L. (Childs) whom he married on December 17, 1977; sons Regan K. Ginty, Middleport; Eric D. (Stacey) Dodge, Middleport; Craig S. (Hollie) Dodge, Mullica Hill, NJ, and Jason A. (Lisa) Dodge,
Lockport; grandchildren Curtis (Kristen) Rucker, Mantua, NJ; Alyssa (fiancée Tyler Measel) Dodge, Woodstown, NJ; Austin (Heidi) Dodge, Boston, NY; Hannah Dodge, Middleport; Mikayla (Patrick Smith) Dodge, Philadelphia, PA; Colin Dodge, Erie PA, Evan Dodge, Arlington, MA, Tanner Dodge, Mullica Hill, NJ, Mackenzie Dodge and Hailey Dodge, Lockport; great-grandchildren Peyton Epke, Andrew and Emily Rucker, Mantua, NJ; a brother Dale (Diane) Ginty, Conway, SC, Sister Rita (Salvatore) Liuzzi & Family, Gasport; a brother-in-law Keith E. FacebookTwitterredditBrett Chamberlain, of Lancaster, SC, died unexpectedly on June 23, 2022 at the age of 54. Brett was born on October 31, 1967 in Kenmore, NY.
He graduated from Lockport High School in 1986. After high school, Brett's adult education continued at Stan's Home Plate with classmates and friends old and new.
Brett and Carol married in 1995 and welcomed their sons and a series of beloved dogs (Buddy, Bella, Piper, and Luna) as they built their life together. Brett was an entrepreneur who started many of his own businesses before building a career as an insurance adjuster, working as a large loss adjuster for Liberty Mutual at the time of his passing.
Brett was an accomplished woodworker who had the biggest heart and loved to make people laugh, especially with his Joke of the Day. Some of his favorite memories were made camping with his family and friends, and enjoying bloody Mary's and breakfast. Always the first one up and the first one to bed. He was a founding and dedicated member of the Six Pack Cruiser Club, who loved long rides through the mountains and hanging out at the clubhouse. He had a strong faith and loved his church community. His loyalty and integrity were some of his strongest traits
Brett is survived by his loving wife of 26-plus years, Carol Chamberlain of Lancaster, SC; his two sons, Braden Edwin Chamberlain and Carter Phillips (Jessica) Chamberlain; mother, Judy Chamberlain; siblings, Dale (Lisa) Chamberlain and Aaron (Charlotte) Chamberlain; father-in-law, Ron (Anne) Phillips; brothers-in-law, Tom and Tim (Maureen) Phillips; sister-in-law, Christine Clements; and many dear aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Keith Edwin Chamberlain; and his mother-in-law, Judy Phillips. Brett was eagerly awaiting the birth of his first grandchild, due in December.
The family will hold two Celebration of Life ceremonies to honor his memory in both his current home and his hometown. On June 30th the family will receive friends at New Spring Church, 4034 Charlotte Hwy., Lake Wylie, SC 29710, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, with services at 6:00 PM and light refreshments immediately following. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Brett's life.
On July 3rd, the family will receive friends at New York Beer Project, 6933 S. Transit Rd., Lockport, NY 14094, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, with services at 2:00 PM. According to Brett's wishes, there will be beer and bar food.

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Brian Lederhouse, who left us too soon on July 1, 2024. Born on July 16, 1985, in Amherst, NY, Brian was a man of the earth, cherishing the simple beauty of life under the open sky. A man of quiet strength and resilience, he was a beloved son, a loving father, and a cherished brother.

He was a farmer by occupation, a craftsman of the soil, who loved the land he worked upon in his residence in Lockport, New York. Brian's life was a testament to hard work and dedication, qualities he applied both to his work and his personal life. Brian's love for the outdoors was not limited to his professional life. An avid hunter and fisherman, his love for the natural world was evident when he was in the midst of nature. Despite never having married, Brian was a family man at heart, deeply devoted to his loved ones.

He was the beloved son of Richard (Debbie) Lederhouse and Barbara (Steve) Smith, who will deeply miss his presence. As a father, Brian's love for his daughter Abby Fisher was boundless, and he cherished every moment spent with her. His brother Cory (Stacey) Lederhouse and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him, each holding onto fond memories of Brian.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, located at 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron, NY, 14001. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him. Brian's life, though short, was filled with moments of joy, love, and laughter. Bruce was employed at the Bridge Commission as a Shift Supervisor for 47 years until his retirement. He enjoyed music, animals, and going to concerts.
 
Bruce is survived by his wife Sue E. [Johnson] Baer, daughters Alicia Walker, Michelle Menzel and Chelsey Baer, grandsons Joseph and Connor Menzel, brother Jimmie (Ann) Baer, sister Joy (Dana) Colbert and several nieces and nephews.

Son of the late Marian and Jeanette Wojick. Beloved father of Bruce (Cindy) Wojick, Matthew (Julie) Wojick, Jessica (Maria Rosa) Wojick, Mark (Mikaela) Wojick and Joshua (Leah) Wojick. Dearest step-father of Michelle (Thomas Brown) Mulvena, Michael (Michele) Mulvena and Denise (Aaron) Clause. Greatest Papa/Grampa Bruce of Benjamin, Leah, Michael Jr., Emily, Vito, Alexandrea, Mia, Liam, Austin, Brennan, Maxwell and Grace. Predeceased by grandchildren Cameron and Keagan. Bruce was employed by Niagara Falls Public Schools, retiring as a special education teacher at Gaskill Middle School after 28 years.  Bruce’s true passion was as a US Custom and Border Protection Agent (later as an Agent for US Homeland Security) for 17 years where he received many accommodations for his service. He was very active in the Charles N. DeGlopper VFW Auxiliary where he was the treasurer for the organization for many years. Recently he participated with the VFW’s Honor Guard and played taps during all services. Bruce loved being outdoors spending time fishing and hunting. On most days you could find Bruce sitting outside on his porch looking out over the river and keeping an eye on activities in the neighborhood. Visiting Bruce meant that you would be greeted with the soft sounds of jazz music playing in the background, and if one of his favorite songs came on you were required to get up and dance with him!

SHAFFER - Bruce R.
85, formerly of Grand Island, NY passed away on Thursday, May, 18, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born on January 30, 1938 to the late Earl and Helen Shaffer in Seneca Falls, NY. Bruce graduated from North Tonawanda High School in 1956, He went on to study Business at SUNY-Buffalo. He then spent a career in the dental industry, eventually retiring from Patterson Dental in 2000. Bruce spent his free time playing bridge, wood working, golfing, being a Master Gardener, and traveling with his wife, Nancy. Bruce is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Nancy (Johnston) Shaffer; 2 sisters, Sue Weinheimer of North Carolina and Anita Zebulske of NorthTonawanda, NY; 3 sons. Scott Shaffer and his wife Pamela of Rowlett, Tx, Steven Shaffer and his wife Natalie of Buffalo, NY, Greg Shaffer and his wife, Sharon, of North Carolina, and daughter Dr. Margaret Clark and her husband, Dr. Dan Clark, of Indiana, PA. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Bruce donated his body to the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where his granddaughter is a medical student. As a result, there will be a private Celebration of Life hosted by the family on June 10th in Amherst. 912 Bruno P. Pacini
January 21, 1922 — April 19, 2024
Bruno P. Pacini of Medina, New York, formerly of Middleport, passed peacefully in the early hours of April 19, 2024 after a brief illness. He had celebrated his 102nd birthday this past January.

Born in North Tonawanda, New York on January 21, 1922, he was the son of the late Guy and Leontine (Bourdon) Pacini. He graduated from North Tonawanda High School and was ready to enter Niagara University on a football scholarship when WWII intervened. He entered the Army in October of 1942 and served as a Staff Sergeant until February 1946. Upon leaving the service, he went back to Niagara University to continue his education. He earned his BS degree in Social Science in 1950 and his MA in 1951.

His teaching career was spent at Royalton-Hartland in Middleport where he taught Social Studies for 27 years. In addition to his classroom duties, he coached his favorite sport of football and at his retirement in 1977, this respected coach had the football field named in his honor. After his retirement he went on to be elected Royalton Town Justice, a position he would hold for 12 years.

He was also a member of the Clute Phillips Post 938 of the American Legion in Middleport and the Knights of Columbus. He was the last surviving member of the original inductees of the Foundation Award Winners of the Niagara Orleans League. He was proud to have been inducted into the North Tonawanda Football Hall of Fame, the Niagara University Hall of Fame and the Roy Hart” Proud to be a Ram” Wall of Fame.

Beside his parents, Bruno was predeceased by his wife Bertha (Pope) Kilworth Pacini and his brother Charlie and sister-in-law Shirley.

He is survived by his step-daughter Gina (Mike) George, step-granddaughters Audrey (Casey)Tuohey and Emily (Michael) McLaren, as well as great grandchildren Brayden, Gavin, Shay and Camryn, two nieces Sandra (Edmond) Hess and Charlene (David) Gwinn He will be missed by many long time friends from his years in Middleport, his friend Jean Chatt of Medina as well as the many young men he coached over the years who long after graduation still kept in touch with their coach. He was deeply touched by the many former students and friends who attended the re-dedication of the football field.

There are no prior calling hours. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, April 26th at 10:00am.

Burial with military honors at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Wednesday, May 1st at 10:00am.

June 24, 1970 - November 26, 2022

Bryan James Arthur Phillips passed away peacefully at his home of Saturday, November 26, 2022.  He was 52.  He was born in North Tonawanda on June 24, 1970, a son of Dennis James and Janette Marie (Bryan) Phillips.  He attended local schools and graduated from Williamsville North High School.  He continued his education at Niagara County Community College and then graduated from SUNY Brockport with a degree in Business. 
Bryan became a volunteer firefighter with the Getzville Fire Company when he was 16 and at one point was the Fire Marshal of the Trophy Club with the Roanoke, Texas Fire Department.  He was currently employed by Pilot Catastrophe Services of Mobile, Alabama as a adjuster, just returning home from assisting Florida residents to rebuild after Hurricane Ian.
He was a passionate firefighter and loved cooking, especially with his smoker, but his greatest joy was interacting with his family and all the people he met during the course of his life.  Family was very important to him and he was a great friend to anyone that was in need.
Bryan is survived by his parents Dennis and Janette Phillips, three children: Shaya Damron and Lily and Georgia Phillips, his grandson Lincoln Damron, his sister Denise (Joseph) Sorci, his niece Samantha Sorci and many cousins.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at10 A.M. at St. Marks Episcopal Church, 61 Payne Avenue, North Tonawanda, New York 14120. Entombment will follow in the columbarium in the church.  Donations may be made in Bryan’s name to the Getzville Fire Company, P.O. Box 111, Getzville, New York 14068.

June 30, 1952 - February 4, 2020

Byron J. Pierce of Niagara Falls, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2020.   He was 67. He was born in Buffalo on June 30, 1952, a son of the late Byron and Gloria (Zeisz) Pierce. He attended Buffalo schools and moved to Niagara Falls in 1973.
Byron served in the National Guard and then worked at TAM Ceramics for 35 years until his retirement in 2018. He loved to travel to The Thousand Islands and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, loved dogs and was interested in history, especially the Civil War.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Melodi (Moeller) Pierce, three children: Eric Moeller, Dan (Cassandra) Pierce and Jon Pierce and granddaughter Isabella Moeller. He is also survived by three siblings: Marilyn (Harry) Freiert, Nancy (Doug) Vanlear and Sandy Richmond, sister-in-law Esther (Nicholas) Butera and brother-in-law Earl (Jan) Moeller.
There will be no visitation and burial will be at 11 AM on Monday in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in Lewiston.

April 30, 1945 - February 9, 2023

Carl F. Horst, lifetime area resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 9, 2023 after a lengthy illness.  He was 77.  He was born in Niagara Falls on April 30, 1945, a son of the late Harold and Dorothy (O’Keefe) Horst.  He attended local schools and then entered the United States Army in 1964.  He was stationed in Germany and served his country proudly until his honorable discharge in 1966.
Carl was employed at Carborundum where he served in many capacities during his career, retiring as a manager after 40 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge No. 346 in Niagara Falls and he enjoyed doing crafts and hobbies in his garage and going to estate sales and the casino with his wife.
He is survived by his loving wife Karen (Stumpf) Horst and his two grandchildren: Colton and Jacob.  He is also survived by two siblings: James (Diane) Horst of Charlotte, North Carolina and Helen (Rick) Bailey of Grand Island, his sister in law Gloria (late Lance) Horst of Plymouth, Massachusetts and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two siblings: Lance (Gloria) Horst and Joseph Horst.
As per Carl’s wishes there will be no visitation and burial will be private.

916 Carol Anne (nee Tickett) Lafler, 64, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed from this life on July 12, 2021.  Born on December 12, 1956 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Richard R. And Louise E. (nee Laur) Tickett.

 
Carol is survived by her longtime companion, John Siejka; a daughter, Christina Hain; grandchildren, Thomas Altman, Jr., Michael Altman, Jeffery Hain and Katelynn Hain; sisters, Roxanne (Dan) Schultz and Donna Norton and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Timothy Lafler, Jr. and brothers, Ricky Tickett and Robert Tickett.

 
Carol’s funeral service and life celebration will be held on Monday, July 19th at 1:30 p.m. at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY (716-297-9007) with Rev. Carol D. (Parent) Cody, lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2024.  She was 94. She was born in Niagara Falls on December 28, 1929, and a daughter of the late Raymond L. and Violet May (Vincent) Parent.  She attended local schools including Evershed Elementary and LaSalle High School.
Carol married John V. Cody in 1950 And they remained happily married for 43 years until his passing in 1993.  She was the Personal Secretary for Mr. Sims, a lunch aide at 79th Street School and then was the rental agent for Krull Park Apartments for many years.
Mrs. Cody and her husband were avid horseback riders and enjoyed their Triumph TR-7 sports cars.  She also enjoyed oil painting but her greatest joy was her time with her family.
She is survived by two children: Michael Cody and Jo Anne (Frank) Balsano.  She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Christopher (Michelle) Romanchock, Maureen (Dale) Evans, Maureen Edmunds, Erin Cody, Kevin Cody, Meghan Cody and Eileen Cody, 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three siblings: Violet (late Lee) Witnauer, Lorraine (late Albert) Stahl and Raymond (Linda Tollner) Parent.
As per Mrs. Cody’s wishes there will be no visitation and services and burial will be private.

Carol Ann (Anderson) Gage, 75, of Lockport, NY, passed away on December 18, 2024.  Born on September 15, 1949 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Anderson and the late Grace (Williams) (late Roy) Lewis and the wife of the late Craig R. Gage.

Carol was a lifelong area resident.  She graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School and earned her Masters Degree in Special Education from Buffalo State College.  Carol was employed as a Special Education Teacher, working for Orleans-Niagara BOCES.  She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Getzville, NY and enjoyed reading and loved her dog, Shelby Rose.

Carol is survived by a son, Craig (Susan) Gage, Jr.; a daughter, Kelli (Douglas) Ward; five grandchildren, Gavin, Addison, Sophia, Owen and Nathan; sister, Ann (Anthony) Wiertel and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Brian (Iona) Anderson.

All are welcome to gather for visitation on Saturday, December 21st, from 2-4 p.m., at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME AND NIAGARA COUNTY CREMATION CARE, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007), where Carol’s funeral service will follow visitation at 4:00 p.m., with Rev. Mrs. Smith was the manager at Arby's in Niagara Falls for many years. 

She was wife of the late Gary L. Smith, Sr, mother of the late Gary L. Smith, Jr., Chrisopher M. Smith and Lisa Marie Smith.

Survived by her daughter Chantel Fronczak, granddaughter Hailey C. Smith, sister Suzanne Vullo, brothers Donald L. (Diana) Hermanson and Richard W. N. Hermanson.

Catherine M. (Roath) Taylor, 70, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on December 1, 2023 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.  Born on July 1, 1953 in Lockport, NY, she was the daughter of Kathryn (Sullivan) (late Robert) Roath and the late Perry E. Wheaton, Jr.

Cathy was a lifelong area resident, graduated from Wilson High School and earned her associates degree from Bryant and Stratton College.  She was currently retired, however, when working, Cathy was employed as an accountant for various local nursing homes.

In addition to her mother, Cathy is survived by her beloved husband, William J. Wheaton; her son, Jason Roath; granddaughter, Marissa; siblings, Robert, Craig, Brenda, Wayne, Barbara, and Jackie; her dog, Sassy, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Besides her father, she was predeceased by a brother, Alan.

James K. Shingledecker, age 63, of North Tonawanda, died Monday, August 6, 2018 at his residence after a long illness. Born September 1, 1954 in the Town of Tonawanda, he was the son of the late James and Betty (nee Witkopf) Shingledecker. A lifelong resident of the Tonawandas, he worked construction until becoming ill.
He was the husband of Nancy (nee Solack) Shingledecker; father of Hope Linville of Amherst, Bridgette (Bruce Howitt) Alringer of Depew, Jolene (Sebastian) Zirilli of Tonawanda, Jacob (Lisa) Shingledecker of North Tonawanda, and the late Robert Linville and James P. Shingledecker; brother of Terri Maracle of Canada, Frank Shingledecker of North Tonawanda, Andy (Cynthia) Shingledecker of Tonawanda, Malissa (Michael) Kuntz of North Tonawanda, Norman Shingledecker of Tonawanda, Jessie Shingledecker of Cheektowaga, Billy (Patty) Shingledecker of Akron, Florence Matters of North Tonawanda, and the late Harold Shingledecker and Bonnie Matthews; and nephew of Alice Lorich of North Tonawanda.      CHARLENE'S OBITUARY

Charlene (Reeh) Wilson, 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving children on January 30, 2024.  She was born in 1941 and lived in Niagara Falls, NY her entire life.  On February 27, 1960, she married the love of her life, William (Bill) Wilson and lived a long and happy life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William (Bill) Wilson.  She is survived by her daughters Donna Fournier (Steve) and Lori Rozanski (Mike), son Kevin Wilson (Gina), grandchildren, William, Rachel, Michael, Michelle, Zachary, Chelsea, Christopher, and Monica along with many great grandchildren.

Charlene attended St. Mary’s High School in Niagara Falls. She was a lifelong member of St John de LaSalle Church; she made meals for grieving families, gathered baskets and items for church sales, prepared food for Friday fish fries, and served on many other church related programs.  
Charlene famously had every imaginable type of bird, squirrels, raccoons, rabbits, and even ducks at her backyard bird feeder.  She single-handedly kept the Cayuga Island animal population alive.  Her favorite word to shout out loud was BINGO – which she did often when playing at home with family.

Charlene loved to travel with her husband and family. She was a supporter of the arts, attending many gallery exhibits and shows, while lending support and opinions to her sculptor husband. 
Her greatest joy was her family. She made sure everyone was fed, on time, and didn’t forget their hats and gloves.  She nurtured generations of children and showered them all with unconditional love and support.  Mom, Grandma, Grammy will be deeply missed by all.
We wish to extend our most sincere gratitude to Apryl, Jessie, and Jackie and everyone at Niagara Hospice for their compassionate care and guidance. Our parents were blessed to have kind and loving neighbors, especially Oscar and Judy, who were always there for them in times of need. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 10am at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC. 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. John de LaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.  The interment will be private.

926 Charles Edgar "Chuck" Learn
September 7, 1932 - January 3, 2021

Charles E. “Chuck” Learn, Jr., age 88 of Niagara Falls passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 following a brief illness.  Chuck has gone to Heaven to be with his lovely wife Mary Jane, who he loved dearly.  Chuck was born on September 7, 1932 in Niagara Falls, the son of the late Lillian M. Learn Bodie and Charles E. Learn, Sr. and Kenneth S. Bodie.
Chuck left school in 1950 to join the United States Army and it wasn’t until the year 2011 that he received his high school diploma at Niagara Falls High School.
Chuck was employed at Hooker/Occidental Chemical Corporation for 34 years, retiring in 1994.  After retiring he drove school bus for Niagara Coach Lines for 12 years taking final retirement in 2007.  He was a member of the New York State Army National Guard originally enlisting in March 1947 for 27 years with 3.5 of those years served in the regular Army, Military Police Units from 1950 to 1953 during the Korean War, serving 14 months in Japan and Korea.  During his service with the Guard he was in the 1st Battalion, 174th Infantry, 27th Infantry Division, also the 336th AAA Gun Battalion, the 127th Tank Battalion and the 274th Tank Battalion.  He retired from the Army in 1975 as a Major. 
During his 27 year military career Chuck was awarded the United States Army Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, Japan Occupation Medal, American Defense Medal, the Korean President’s Award Medal, American Defense Medal, New York State Long and Faithful Service Medal and the United States Meritorious Service Medal.  He served as President of the 127th Tank Battalion Association and was past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge #346 of Niagara Falls and served on the Niagara Falls Board of Appeals for 12 years and in 2015 became President of the Sertoma Club of Niagara Falls.  In 2018 he became Eucharistic Minister for Prince of Peace (St. Vincent DePaul) Church.  He was also a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Niagara Falls.
Chuck enjoyed fishing, golfing and dancing to country music, spending time with friends and family and vacationing with his wife Mary Jane and then his current companion Grace Patricia Goss of Wrights Corners, Lockport, NY.
Chuck is predeceased by his loving wife Mary Jane Bird, the love of his life for 70 years, his son David and his daughter Cynthia Ann.  He is survived by his daughter Deborah Batley and grandson Dylan Batley, and a brother Danny (Barbara) learn of Canada and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation and burial will be at the convenience of the family in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lewiston.  Donations may be made in Chuck’s name to Niagara Falls Firefighters Toy Fund or to St. Judes Childrens Hospital in Memphis Tennessee or the Niagara Falls Veterans Memorial Commission and the Lions Club of the Town of Niagara.

Charles Edward “Bud” Mundy, Jr., lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 6, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was 85.  He was born in Niagara Falls on March 26, 1937, a son of the late Charles E. and Norah (Longley) Mundy, Sr. 
He attended local schools and graduated from LaSalle Jr./Sr. High School.  Bud served in the United States Army and then worked at Carborundum retiring as a shipping/ receiving clerk.
He was an expert photographer who was well known for his work throughout the area.  He was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge, enjoyed woodworking (especially making walking sticks and canes), gardening and cooking but his greatest joy was his time with his family and many friends.
Bud is survived by four children: Mark (Laurie) Mundy, Michael (Anita) Mundy, Scott (Jennifer) Mundy and Melissa Mundy.  He is also survived by his sister Pamela (Gibb) Prince of Lauderdale, Mississippi, his best friend Glenn Quarantillo, 8 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years Patricia (Richmond) Mundy in 2012.

Of Lewiston, NY, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY.  He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on February 16, 1930, a son of the late Kenneth and Grace [Beach] Woolcutt.
Mr. Woolcutt was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School in 1948 and served with the US Navy from 1951-1955.   After returning from the service, he became an electrician with Local #237 IBEW until retiring in 1990.  He was a member of IBEW for 75 years.
Mr. Woolcutt was a member of the Lewiston Writers Group and the New York State Designer Blacksmiths.  He was interested in history and sharing his talents of woodworking, jewelry making, stained glass art, and much more with his family. He loved playing cards with friends and a good Euchre game with family.
He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy  [May] Woolcutt, who passed away in October of 2013.  He was also predeceased by his daughter Diane (late James) Biniecki and a brother Richard Woolcutt and sister Ellen Stark.
Mr. Woolcutt is survived by two sons Kenneth (Ruth) Woolcutt and Darryl (Pamela) May,  six grandchildren Margaret (Ron) Nowak, Susan (Steve) Moretti, Kevin May, Sabrina May, Jacob (Andrea) Woolcutt and Sarah (Ben) Buckeye, also ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services were held at the wishes of his family.

930 Cheryl Lynn (Duncan) Wicks, 69, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on December 18, 2024, following a lengthy illness.  Born on December 24, 1954 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Burnard and Gloria (Hartwig) Duncan and the wife of the late Alan ‘Jay’ Wicks.

Cheryl  graduated from Lasalle Senior High School in 1973 and attended Cheryl Fells School of Business.  She was a manager of DuPont Credit Union, that later became Encompass Niagara Federal Credit Union, where she retired from.  Cheryl graciously was an organ donor. She was an amazing sister, aunt, and friend to all who knew her.  Cheryl loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with the people most important to her, laughing and enjoying her Coors Light. 

Cheryl is survived by her brother, Randy (Patty) Duncan; step-sister, Sherrie Norton and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.  Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Linda (Duncan) Malfa.

Christopher P. Lepine, of Cheektowaga, NY and formerly of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 13, 2022 in Hospice. Chris was 56 years old and the son of Mary Carol Pierce (formerly Lepine) nee Weigel and Ronald Lepine. Chris was born and raised in Niagara Falls, NY where he attended local schools and graduated Niagara Falls High School.  He was a member of the DeMolay branch under the Order of the Eastern Star. He entered the United States Navy in 1982 and after the Navy, he attended NCCC, Niagara University,  and later graduated from ITT Technical Institute with Honors in the top 5% of his class.   He enjoyed camping at Allegany State Park, playing computer games, and working on puzzles. His greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends.  Chris is survived by his loving wife Alicia(Mowry)Lepine, his mother Mary Carol Pierce, his brothers  Phillip (Donna) Lepine,  and Ronald (Melinda) Lepine. He is also survived by his three sons: Jonathen (Mary Wendy) Smith, Kyle (Kelsey) Mack, and MarkChristopher Lepine.  He has four wonderful grandchildren: Nathan, Phoenix, Rhiannon, and Luca. Clara Wanda Benny Bucolo went to be with the Lord on November 25, 2017. Born in Pembroke, New York on July 3, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Genevieve (Young) Benny. Clara was the sister to pre-deceased siblings Louis Benny, Victor Benny, Richard Benny, Theodore Benny and Genevieve Benny Loeffert. Clara graduated from Newfane School and was employed at the Lockport Felt Mill in Newfane, NY and later employed at Harrison Radiator. Clara met and married the late Tony Bucolo on December 7, 1946. They were married for 56 years. They were the owners of Bucolo Greenhouses on Lake Avenue for over 40 years. Clara loved flowers and gardening. She was called the "Flower Lady" by all her devoted customers, friends and family. Clara also enjoyed cooking and vacations in Lancaster, PA. Clara was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Lockport, NY. Clara is the dear mother of Joanne Bucolo; son and daughter in law Tony and Sharon Bucolo, predeceased children William and Teresa Bucolo, Charles and Dorthea Bucolo. CAMPBELL, Clifford Darwin, “Dusty”, age 67, of Middleport NY, passed away Wednesday March 19th, 2025, and is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Dear Son of Bette Jane Campbell and the late Edward Jack Campbell. Loving husband of Nancy Campbell (nee Quaintance). Loving father of Donald (Miranda) Campbell, Steven (Stephanie) Campbell, Daniel (Erin) Campbell and Stacy (Randall) Smith. Grandfather of 11 Grandchildren and 1 Great-grandchild. Brother of Jim (Niris) Campbell, Partick (Wendy) Sandy (Junior) Hill, Joanne (Timothy) Gallager and Kathy (Alan) Heseltine. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and his dog Rosie.
Dusty was a proud veteran of the US Navy, serving our country for 13 years as a radioman aboard the USS Saratoga, USS Aubrey Fitch, and the USS Vreeland from 1976 to 1989. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was loved by everyone.

936 Colin “Coke” Trow, age 78, of Medina, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.
Colin was a son of the late Charles Trow and Ruth (Heidemann) Trow. He was born on January 26, 1944 in Medina. He graduated from Medina High School in 1962. Shortly after graduation he went to work at Eastman Kodak in Rochester. Colin retired as shift supervisor in 1991 and then went on to drive school bus for Medina Central School District for several years, a job he enjoyed very much. Coke married the former Sue A. March on September 28, 1974. He was an active parishioner at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medina. There, he sang in the choir and was a member of the church council. Coke enjoyed riding his motorcycle, golfing and watching sports. He was a fan of the Buffalo Bills and the Syracuse Orangeman. Coke especially enjoyed music and loved singing in the choir and at special occasions for family and friends.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Sue Trow; daughter, Christine Trow; brothers in-law, Bruce (Kate) March, Douglas March; sister in-law, Cherie (Dennis) Conley; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by siblings, Connie (Norman) Bruning, Carol Trow and Clint Trow; in-laws, David and Doris March; and a sister in-law, Mary Ann March.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medina at a later date. Interment will be in Millville Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.

Collis "Duane" Smeal
Born September 20th 1938, in West Decatur, PA passed away on July 3rd 2024, after a heroic but short battle with cancer under the compassionate care of Hospice House.
Duane was predeceased by his mother Mildred (Kanouff) Smeal, his father Collis Smeal and his brother Marvin Smeal. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary (O'Bresly) Smeal, and his (3) three Children Rebekah Rogers, Mary Susan Smeal-Montoro, and Earl Smeal, spouse Lynette (Bolea) Smeal.
Duane a fan of classic Westerns movies is also survived by his "Magnificent Seven" grandchildren, Aliana Rogers (partner Lukas Wienstien) , Andrew Montoro (spouse Kayla Brophy), Aubrey Combs (spouse James Combs), Vincent G. Montoro, (spouse Stephanie Evers), Christina Montoro, Nicholas Smeal, (fiancé Courtney Fell), and Adrienne Wright (spouse Jared Wright). Duane is also survived by the pride and joy of his life, his (4) four great-grandchildren, Weston Combs, Elliott Montoro, Eliza Combs, Amelia Montoro.
Duane was a 1957 graduate of LaSalle Senior High School, he was drafted into the US Army in 1960 for the Berlin Crisis, after a short stint in the Army, Duane returned to Niagara Falls where he worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 41 years before retiring in 1999.
Duane was a member of the First Church of The Nazarene, and had a hand in building it's original location on 93rd Street in Niagara Falls.
Duane was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and hunting. But, most of all Duane enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate to have known him.
Visitation will be Monday from 4-7 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 AM.  The interment will be private for the family.  In lieu of flowers the family would like to encourage donations to Hospice House of Lockport NY.

(Middleport/Medina) Cora E. Handrich age 100 entered into eternal rest on February 16, 2018. Born in Lyndonville she was one of five daughters of the late Frank and Alice (Thompson) Howes, who moved to Lyndonville from Catfield England.

Cora recently celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends at the Willows in Medina where she resided for the past several years after moving from Lakewood Village in Medina.

She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Middleport, Ladies Auxiliary of the Middleport Fire Department and the Medina Moose Club. She and her late husband Melvin, of 50 years, loved to travel around the country and often wintered on the West Coast of Florida. Cora retired after 35 years of service with Harrison Radiator Division of GM in Lockport. She loved playing tennis, golf, bowling, and was on several leagues during her life time. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, fashion, playing cards with friends and entertaining.

In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her sisters Alberta Herriven, Phyllis Miller, Doris Day-Hall, Mildred Thomson; nephew Lee Herriven. Survived by nieces Kathy Keller of NC, Christine (Rick) McGaughey of VA, Edith Rock of OR; nephews Gary (Beverly) Herriven of Barker, Douglas (Carol Ann) Herriven of Middleport, Rodney (Joanne) Herriven of Lockport; dear friends Margaret and Jim Lustumbo, Sandy and Gordi Smith and their sons Timothy, Paul and Jamie, Gordy Herman and Pat Volkosh as well several great-nieces and nephews around the country.

940 Dale M. Selbert, 64, of Wheatfield, NY, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, after a brief illness. Born on November 27, 1960 in Buffalo, NY, he was the beloved son of Mary Ann (Moore) Selbert and the late Ronald Selbert and the devoted husband of Tracy (Fritz) Selbert.

Dale graduated from Cheektowaga High School in 1978 and earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Erie Community College.  He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and the New York Air National Guard, 107th Air Wing, as an Aircraft Engine Technician. After 31 years of dedicated service, Dale retired as a Senior Master Sergeant, having participated in numerous deployments, including Operation Enduring Freedom.  

In his free time, Dale found joy in attending concerts, cheering for the Buffalo Bills, watching NASCAR, tending to his vegetable garden, fishing and hunting. 

In addition to his mother and his beloved wife, Tracy, Dale is survived by his children, Chad Selbert and Amanda (Nick) Gonnella; his cherished granddaughters, Raelynn, Eleanor and Adeline Gonnella; his siblings, Mark (Jenn King) Selbert, Jason (Shelley) Selbert and Christie (Craig) Falkowski and nieces and nephew, Jayson (Lisa) Selbert, Katlyn Kicak and Rachael Fritz.

Daniel P. Coia, 77, of Ransomville, New York, passed away at home on October 18, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
Dan was born August 9, 1947, the son of the late Alma Jane Coia.
Dan proudly served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam as a member of the 1st of the 50th Mechanized Division.  Dan received the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze service stars, the National Defense Service medal, a Combat Infantry Badge, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Expert Rifle Medal.
Dan was an electrician at Niagara DuPont for 34 years, retiring in 2008, to travel on many worldly adventures with his wife, Patti.  Dan enjoyed fishing, traveling to 1000 Islands, and spending time with his loving family.
Dan was a devoted husband to Patricia (Colpoys) Coia, a proud father to Dawn (Brad) VeRost, a loving Papa to Maxwell, Olivia, Bradley, and Edward VeRost, dear brother of the late David (Barbara) Coia, Victor Coia, Judy Mesko, Linda (late Bill) Brown, Michael (Bethann) Colpoys, and William (Sharon) Colpoys; loving “Uncle” to Haleigh (Mia) Bianco, Katherine (Ed) Hanson, and Gianna & Shyah Bianco and many other nieces and nephews.

944 Daniel Zimmer Life story

Daniel J. Zimmer, a longtime resident of the Town of Niagara, age of 76, passed away unexpectedly on September 6, 2024 at his home.  Born on April 5, 1948 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Leo and Ann (Murphy) Zimmer.   

Dan was a graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School.  He was employed by the Town of Niagara Highway Department, where he worked as a motor equipment operator, retiring in 2005 after 36 years of service. He was also an auto mechanic for many years. Dan married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Hoch, and remained happily married for 58 years until his passing. 

Dan treasured spending time with his family and friends.  He could always be depended upon to lend a helping hand, regardless of how small or large the task was.  His hobbies included hunting, camping, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, old cars and vegetable gardening.

In addition to his loving wife, Dan is survived by two children, Faye Marie (Kevin) Udut and Daniel Jay Zimmer; five grandchildren, Joshua (Josh May), Tyler and Paul Donovan and Darian and Daniel Zimmer; brothers, David (Tammy) and Richard Zimmer; former daughter-in law, Dineen Miller and many nieces nephews and cousins.

Darlene Ann Stinis, of Niagara Falls, N.Y.,  passed away Thursday December 10, 2020 at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center due to a long-term illness at the age of 56. She attended Trott Vocational High School and Niagara Beauty School. She was a kind, caring person with a big heart who loved her family and friends. Darlene was particularly fond of her grandchildren and spent most of her free time with them. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, and decorating. Darlene is survived by her longtime companion Eric Walker, Children: Dominique A. Walker and Eric S. Walker. Grandchildren: Layanna, Domini’ca, Januari, and Ry’lee. Predeceased by her daughter Athena Walker (November 27, 2020). 946 David Boorom Life Story

On November 21, 2023, David Reed Boorom, of Lewiston, passed away unexpectedly. Born on October 30, 1956 in Batavia NY, he was the son of Leanna (Gateson) Boorom and the late Robert Boorom. He married his wife, Susan (Barry) Boorom on April 27, 1985.

David always had a story to tell, he was a friend to all, and would talk to you as if you were his best friend, even if you had just met him. David loved to read. He loved spending time with his granddaughter, the two of whom were inseparable. They could often be found fishing together, spending Saturdays at Home Depot’s kids crafts, eating at the “Pig” Restaurant, and making memories.  David enjoyed spending time at Jenna and Randy’s home, checking out their latest renovations, and lending a helping hand. He loved stopping by randomly at his Son-in-Law Randy’s auto shop to check out his latest projects, but mainly to sit and talk with him and all the guys. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He always had a joke to tell and wanted nothing more than to make you smile and laugh.

David was employed by Empire Merchants North for several years as a sale representative. He loved meeting and talking with his customers, many of whom grew to become like family. His other job was as a delivery driver; he could be found every Saturday dropping off coffee to his daughter Jenna, lunch to his granddaughter Rachel, and bringing home DiCamillo’s bread to his wife Sue.

David was predeceased by his father, Robert Boorom. In addition to his mother, David is survived by his wife, Susan (Barry) Boorom; his daughter, Jenna Boorom (Randy Martell Jr.); his stepdaughters, Christie (Boss) Caldwell and Deanna (Boss) Quarantillo; his granddaughter and best friend, Rachel (Mrs. Murphy) Quarantillo; his siblings, Connie (Kevin) Literman, Lawrence Boorom, Jeff Boorom, and Linda (Frank) Toczek, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dave was a proud graduate of Lew-Port High School and later attended business school. He was a member of Colonial Heights Free Methodist Church.

, age 72, of Lyndonville, NY entered into rest on Saturday, December 14, 2024 following a brief illness.
Born November 1, 1952 in Lockport, he was a son of the late Harold and Betty (Melloon) Lockwood. Dave worked as a truck driver and mechanic for many years. He was known as a jack of all trades who could fix just about anything. Dave loved his dogs. He especially cherished spending time with his daughter and grandchildren and attending all of their school events. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four siblings, Joseph Melloon, Daniel Lockwood, Darlene Penwright and Patricia McGuire.

David Charles Schroeder, 87, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at home with his wife at his side on Sunday, December 10, 2023. Born January 19, 1936 in Springville, NY, to the late Roland and Evelyn (Anderson) Schroeder.


David entered the United States Army on August 12, 1959 and he was honorably discharged as a PFC on August 11, 1961.


David was the beloved husband of Jacqueline (Fallon) Schroeder, and the devoted father to John (Nancy Scofield) and Matthew (Carreen).


He is survived by his sisters, Marie (late Richard) Marshall, Caroline (late Ward) Knight, and Jane; brothers, George (Linda Adamczyk), Timothy (Maria), Robert (Bridget), James (Joyce), Thomas (Jean), and Peter (late Patricia); his three loving grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by one sister and two brothers.


A Celebration of David's life will be held on Thursday, December 14th from 12-2PM at Zajac Funeral Home Inc. 319 24th Street cor. of Welch Ave. Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services with military honors will begin at 2PM, with Pastor David Ellis officiating. A private inurnment will be held later.
