9001 | Lillian H. DuBois, age 96 of the Town of Niagara, was called to her heavenly home on March 25 at Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. Daughter of Adolph and Hulda (Beutel) DeVantier. Predeceased by her husband, Edwin DuBois on December 27, 1985. Lillian was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Walmore, and an active member of the quilting group. She also served as a Town of Niagara Election Inspector for 40 years. Surviving are four children, Judy (Gerard) Baribeau of Toronto, ON, Grant (Mary) DuBois of Atlanta, GA, Glenn (Carolyn) DuBois of Niagara Falls and Mark (Diana) DuBois of Elko, NV; a sister, Edna Walck of Sanborn; seven grandchildren, Kari (Todd) Birchfield, Jenna (Chris) Tenaglia, Lilyanne DuBois, Katherine (Taylor) Housworth, David, Jonathan and Anna DuBois; two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 9002 | Lillian Haseley, of Port Washington, passed away surrounded by her loving family in the early morning hours of Friday, May 10, 2019 at Heritage Health Services in Port Washington. She was 90 years old. Lillian was born in Johnsburg, WI, on August 19, 1928, daughter of Corbin Wagner and Leona Krause Wagner. She grew up in the Town of Barton, and attended school in West Bend. On October 9, 1954 she married Donald Haseley at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Barton. The couple moved to Port Washington to start their family. Mrs. Haseley was a member of St. John XXIII Parish (St. Mary’s) and was is a former member of the church choir. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the “Chicks with Sticks” knitting club at the Port Washington Senior Center. She enjoyed golfing, knitting and was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Lillian is survived by her husband Donald of Port Washington, six children: Jeanne (Joe) Kunzelmann of Mt. Juliet, TN, Donald “Jim” (Maribeth) Haseley of Saugatuck, MI, Lori (Mike) Lanser of Sheboygan, Richard (Mary Kay) Haseley of Windemere, FL, Diane (Mike) Trowbridge of Germantown, and Robin (Jay) Hommel of Greer, SC. She is further survived by eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one brother, John Wagner, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters: Marie Haendal, Kathleen Mehlos, and Joan Koch. Funeral services will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 14th at 2 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will preside over the service. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery, Port Washington. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Funeral Home from 12 noon until the time of services. 9003 | Lillian M. (Arnone) Ricotta, 98, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Monday, January 16,2017 at N.F. Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Catherine (Valenti) Arnone. Lillian was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls until moving to Lewiston in 2007. On January 26, 1935, she married Leonard J. Ricotta at St. Joseph Church. Mr. Ricotta predeceased her on February 8,1999. During World War II she worked at Bell Aircraft and later at the former St. Mary’s Hospital in Niagara Falls until retiring in 1980. Lillian was a devout Catholic and lifetime member of St. Joseph Church. She was also faithful member of the Madonna Del Perpetuo Soccorso Society, the Ladies Cristoforo Colombo Society and the I.S.D.A. Cataract Lodge #240. In her leisure time, she enjoyed cooking and tending to her garden. She also loved animals and playing bingo. Above all, Lillian’s life was dedicated to her family. She cherished the times spent together during family gatherings which she loved cooking for. Lillian was truly the center of her family’s heart and she will be greatly missed, but forever loved. Lillian is survived by three children Samuel (Patricia) Ricotta, Marilyn (Paul) Nicoletti, Nardene (Richard) Bradt and was predeceased by one daughter Mary Louise Ricotta. She is also survived by seven grandchildren Andrea (Tim) Carroll, Anthony (Assunta) Nicoletti, Lennie Ann (Marcan) Giannini, Samuel D. 9005 | Lillian Smead Neumann, of Ransomville, NY, entered into the presence of her Lord Jesus on December 13, 2018, at Niagara Hospice House. She was born on November 1, 1916, in Buffalo, NY. Lillian was the wife of Laurence Neumann for 76 years. Lillian's late parents were Hartwell W. and Lillian M. Smead. She was educated at Buffalo State Teachers College and taught grade school at various locations in New York State: Big Flats, Youngstown, and Ransomville at the Harry Stevenson Elementary School where she retired. During her retirement years, she taught in the Ransomville Free Methodist Preschool and Frontier Christian Academy at the Niagara Frontier Bible Church in Lewiston, NY. She was a longtime dedicated member at the Ransomville Free Methodist Church and the Niagara Frontier Bible Church. She loved to study the Bible and share her insights with people of all ages. Lillian was also a member of the Ransomville Rural Retirees for many years. She loved to be with her six children, 20 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. Her favorite longtime vacation spot was Lake Mazinaw in Cloyne, Ontario, where she had sweet memories of sitting around the campfire and singing praises to God as the sound echoed out over the lake at night. Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Larry; her only brother, Neil Smead; and her son-in-law, Kenneth Hockenberry. She was also the mother of Neil (Cindy), David (Carol), Marcia (Kenneth) Hockenberry, Richard (JoAnn), Mark (Lonnie), and Kelly (Mark) Ritchey. After several years in Palo Alto, CA, she moved with her family to Lake Forest, IL, later to the Atlanta, GA area where she attended Greater Atlanta Christian School (Norcross, GA) and Centennial High School (Roswell, GA). After high school, she attended Auburn University, where she was a scholarship athlete as a pitcher on the Auburn University Softball Team, and later graduated from Georgia State University.. Following completion of her university education, Lily worked in many retail positions in the Atlanta, GA and Phoenix, AZ areas where she demonstrated skills in sales of consumer products ranging from sporting goods to vacations. She also ran a training program for young girls in softball pitching for several years.. Lily loved animals, especially small dogs and horses but even including insects as she never wanted to kill insects in the house, preferring to escort them outside. Born in Lockport on August 6, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Helene Steblein Duwe. Linda graduated from Lockport Senior High School, Class of 1960, worked as a nurses aide at Briody Health Care Facility and also was a hairdresser out of her home. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the 1960’s Club and volunteered with the Lockport YMCA swim team. Linda was the mother of Kristine Hamilton, Jeffrey (Teresa) Bobzien, Curtis (Marla) Bobzien, and the late Kimberly Bobzien; grandmother of Seth Hamilton, Kimberlee Hamilton, Ryan Townsend, Taylor Bobzien and Jordyn Bobzien. Linda married Jerry Broeker onApril 15, 1961 and she worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Myland, Dr. Kramer and Dr.Pallone for many years. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, was a 13 year volunteer at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital and she enjoyed walking, bicycling, lawn bowling, cross country skiing, bowling and trips to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Linda is survived by her loving husband of almost 54 years, Jerry Broeker, four children: Gary (Keith Cohn) Broeker of West Hollywood, CA, Jeff (Melissa) Broeker of Monument, CO, Kyle (Maria) Broeker of Doylestown, PA and Shaun Broeker of the Town of Niagara. 9017 | Linda Ann (nee Moll) Sommers, 74, of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport, NY. Born on May 1, 1943 in North Tonawanda, NY, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Glendora (Bronson) Moll. In 1964, she married Leonard Frank Sommers. He predeceased her in 1995, following 30 years of marriage. Linda was a lifelong North Tonawanda resident. Throughout her career in retail, she worked for Lane Bryant as well as Service Merchandise. Long time member of the Lockport Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ladies Auxiliary, Linda was a Past President six times and member of the award winning “Ritual” Team. Linda was also installed into the Eagles NY State Hall of Fame, for work with the Eagles and her community. A Dedicated NASCAR and Buffalo Bills Fan, Sundays gave the TV remote a real workout. Daughter of the late Emmett and Sylvia (Haseley) Mahar was born on November 28, 1940 on the family farm in Hartland, NY with her 5 Brothers. Her education started in a one room schoolhouse in Hartland and eventually graduating from DeSales Catholic High School in 1958. She furthered her education at Canisius College and Sisters Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1961. Linda was employed at ICMH Hospital in Newfane for 47 years retiring in 2008. Many of her retirement years were spent with her grandchildren. It was always a priority of hers to attend any school function, dance recitals, sporting events and high school and college graduations. She enjoyed camping trips to Darien Lake and Allegany as well as trips to Ireland, Cancun and Florida with family and friends. Linda enjoyed taking care of her lawn, gardening, family gatherings and bird watching right up until the present. She was born in Kane, Pennsylvania on April 7, 1940, a daughter of the late Marvin and DeFrance (Zahniser) Ray. She attended local schools and graduated from LaSalle Senior High School. Linda worked at New York Telephone in 1958 and married Richard P. Credicott in 1961 and they remained happily married for 56 years until his passing on May 20, 2017. Shortly after her marriage she became a stay at home mom to raise her family. She then worked at D&K Stores from 1984 until 2005. She loved country music, baking, reading, going to the casino and Tuesday shopping trips with her sister Louise but most of all she enjoyed her time with her family and the family pets, Stella, Baxter and Diesel. As a devoted nurse she showed compassion and a positive presence to lift the spirits of the families, comforting the babies in their absence. She had an individual love for each one of her patients. Being a published author contributing to research and development in the field of respiratory studies, her education, experience, and commitment assisted in the ongoing survival and care of these premature infants. Her health issues took her back to the very hospital where she proudly helped so many others - finally surrendering to her own physical struggles. Born in Medina, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Janet (Sullivan) Kitcho. Linda was raised in Sanborn where she graduated from Starpoint High School. On February 25, 1969 she married the love of her life, Anthony V. Giannone. Linda retired from the Niagara-Wheatfield School District as a custodian after many years of dedication. She also co-owned and operated Mr. G’s Pizza alongside her husband on Lockport Road in the 1980s. Linda was an exceptional baker and especially known for her apple pies. She enjoyed going out to dinner and spending time with her grandchildren. An avid fan of Big Foot and Jurassic Park, Linda also enjoyed watching sports. Above all, Linda had a kind-hearted soul, and will be greatly remembered as a loving caregiver to her family and friends. Linda worked as a Central Service Technician at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for several years. She was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Leo’s Church and their Altar and Rosary Society. She actively served as a volunteer in various roles while her children attended Niagara-Wheatfield Central School District schools. She was also a former Cub Scout leader, and received the Unit Leader Award of Merit for her outstanding service. Above all, Linda cherished the time spent with her beloved family who will miss her dearly. In addition to her husband of 55 years, Linda is survived by her children, Brian (Rachel) Fending and Thomas M. Linda attended local schools and graduated from the former LaSalle High School. She was employed by St. Peter’s Church as the head cook for many years until her retirement. Linda joined the Lewiston Fire Company #2 and proudly became their first female firefighter and EMT. She also served as their former Treasurer, Financial Secretary and was a longtime member of the Fire Hall’s Ladies Auxiliary. Linda was also a devoted member of the American Legion Wheatfield Post #1451 in Sanborn, NY. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing Bingo and crocheting, but above all she took great pleasure in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her husband of 54 years, Mrs. York is survived by her children, David (fiancé Lori Mix) York and Jeffrey York; her cherished granddaughters, Colleen, Lindsey, Cassie and Kendra; one loving great-grandson, Chanse; as well as several nieces and nephews. Lindsay was raised in Ohio and obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Pathology from Ohio State University. While at college she met the love of her life, Kevin Canali who she married on October 6, 2012. Lindsay received her Registered Nursing degree from D’Youville College and was currently employed at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. While working as an RN, she also received her MBA in Health Care Administration from Western Governors University. Lindsay was an active member of the Renaissance Club of North Tonawanda. She also enjoyed boating and cooking, and especially loved to travel. Her generous and caring personality will be deeply missed by her cherished family and countless friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Lindsay is survived by her beloved daughter, Ruby Mae Canali; one brother, Bradley Caudill; her father-in-law, Gerald D. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Linus and Kathy were married June 13th, 1964 and celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this year. Linus graduated from DeSales Catholic High School in 1962, where he received awards for baseball and football including All American in Football. A man of many hobbies, including piloting airplanes, racing stock, modified and super modified cars, Linus also built and flew model airplanes. He served as a fireman and paramedic for the city of Lockport Fire Dept. for 13 years and received an award for Fireman of the Year. Linus was the owner of L. J. Faery Construction and with his wife, Kathy, also owned and operated L. J. Faery Kitchen & Bath. After retirement, they moved to Boynton Beach, Florida, and returned home to Lockport after 16 years.
