Tegland, RD No. 3 lockport, and George Borner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Borner, East Canal Road, Pendleton, were united in marriage by the Rev. Anthony Nichter. The church was decorated with white chrysanthemums and white pompons. The bride chose a white satin gown with long train, Queen Anne collar, finger-tip veil edged with lace und caught to a pearl beaded crown. Her cascade bouquet was made of white roses and white pompons. The maid of honor was Miss Frances Tegland, and she was dressed in blue satin with illusion neckline. The bridesmaids were: Mrs. W. Stowell, and the Misses Evelyn Tegland, Carol and Marie Borner. They wore Nile green, shrimp and gold, and car- ried Colonal bouquets. Albert J. The bride wore a hunter green suit wth black accessories for their three-day motor trip, after which they will live in Kenmore. The groom was in the U. S. Navy as Seeaman 1st Class in World War II. 9512 | Lockport NY Union Sun Journal - 11/29/1972 Anthony Brent, 50, of 7999 Ridge Road, Town of Hartland, died unexpectedly Tuesday after being stricken with an apparent heart attack at his home. He was taken by ambulance to Lockoorl Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Born Jan. 19, 1922, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a son of John and Theodisa (Kajawa) Brzezinski, and had been a resident of the Hartland area for the past 21 years. Mr. Brent was a member of H a r t l a n d United Methodist Church and its Official Board. He coached Little League Baseball for four years in Rural Niagara League (Barker Gasport area). His hobby was golf. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Asian Theater from 1941 to 1945. He had been employed for the past year by the Town of Hartland Highway Dept. Prior to that he worked eight years at Meadow Lane Dairy in Medina and for 15 years at the Olin .Mathieson Co. in Niagara Falls. Surviving are his widow, the former Betsy Ann Swift- and two sons, Curtis A. and John M., both at home; Also, six brothers and eight sisters, Joseph Brent of Niagara Falls. 9515 | Lockport NY Union Sun Journal - 11/30/1959 AKRON - The crushed body of Town of Newstead farmer Lloyd Bruning, 48, of Teanow Rd., was discovered in his car shortly afternoon Sunday by four hunters in the Town of Alabama in Genesee- County, Hidden by foliage and partially ausmeigaJ in the old Feeder Canal near the Tonawanda Indian Reservation, the car apparently failed to negotiate a curve in Judge Rd., near Feeder Rd. The vehicle had leaped across the 20-foot-wide canal and slammed into the steep opposite bank, its rear in the water. Mr Bruning was trapped in the front seat by the steering wheel. Genesee County Coroner Dr. Raymond Warn of Oakfield estimated the time of death as 12:15 Sunday morning. An autopsy performed In the Genesee County Laboratory at Batavia revealed Mr. Bruning died of a crushed chest. DEPOSITED MONEY Mr. Bruning, who left his home for a hunting trip with $2,200 in cash, was reported missing about 10:30 Sunday morning by his son Richard. Investigation showed that all but $200 of the money had been deposited in a bank before Mr. Brunning left late Saturday night for Medina. State Troopers B. C. Mustek of the Clarence Sub-station and Warren Terryberry and E. J. Fechter of the Batavia Barracks investigated. Mr. Bruning was born Sept. 4, 1911, in Wolcottsville, a son of the late Rudolph Bruning and Mrs. Minnie Bruning of the Tesow Rd. address. He was a resident of the Town of Newstead for the past 29 years and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Akron. SURVIVORS LISTED Besides his mother, survivors include three sons, Richard, Donald and John, and three daughters, Millicent, Shirley and Betty, all at home; three brothers, Walter and Albert Middleport, and Carl, Akron; two sisters, Mrs. John Schubel, Lockport, and Mrs. Herbert Reaboldt, Akron, and five grandchildren. Bowen, 40 Chestnut St., and the late Edith Bowen, was among the remains of 556 Americana returned to the States from the Mediterranean area aboard the U. 8. Army Transport Lawrence Victory, the Army announced today. Pvt. Bowen was 21 when killed In action Aug. 27, 1944 during the Italian campaign. He was a former employe of the Niagara Hudson Power Corporation. Entering service February, 1943, Pvt. Bowen trained at Camp Sibert, Ala. He went erseas to June, 1943 and served in North Africa before going to Italy. 9520 | Lockport NY Union Sun Journal - 11/4/1971 William J. Bicker, 76, formerly active with volunteer firemen's associations, died this morning at Lockport Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Bicker was born Aug. 27, 1895, in Lockport, a son of John and Mary (Burke) Bicker. He was in the U.S. Army in World War I. M r. Bicker worked at Harrison Radiator Division, General Motors Corp., for 47 years, before retiring in 1960. He worked as a shear operator there. After retiring Mr. Bicker operated the Exempt Volunteer Firemen's Association Club on Elm Street, until it closed Aug. I, 1971. Mr. Bicker was a member and served as president for 23 years with the Lockport Exempt Volunteer Firemen's Association. He was a member and past president of the Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association, a member of the New York State Volunteer Firemen's Association, the Western New York Volunteer Firemen's Association and the Frontier Volunteer Firemen's Association in Niagara Falls. He was also a member of St. John the Baptist Church; the Old Guard; B. Leo Dolan Post 410, American Legion; VFW, No. 2535; B.P.O.E. No. 41; and a member and past commander of World War I Barracks No. 1334. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ella S. Bicker; a daughter and a son, Mrs. Thomas (Bernice) Hammond and Wallace A. Mrs. Baldwin was born Oct. 12, 1883, the daughter of Fred and Minnie Neverman Kolbow. She had lived in Newfane for the past 42 years where for many years she did papertianging. She and her late husband were married in Wilson July 4, 1904. Mr. Baldwin died Nov. 1, 1947. Surviving are a son, Leon R. They had a happy reunion and the daughter, Mrs. Gladys Hud son, returned to her home in Ireland a month later. On Thursday (Nov. 5, 1959) the mother, Mrs Clementina F. Braddell, died at the home of another daughter, Mrs. Ena Hatt, 77 Elmwood Ave. She was 85. Born Jan. 29, 1874 in Ireland, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Furlong. Mrs. Braddell came to this country in 1901 with her husband, George R. Braddell, and a daughter, now Mrs. Arthur B. Smith of Lewiston. She left her daughter Gladys, who was three years old, in Ireland because her grandmother could not bear to part with her. She came to Lockport soon after her arrival in this country. Mr. Braddell died in 1918 and Mrs. Braddell raised the family. After living in Tonawanda since 1918, she came here to live with her daughter about three years ago. Survivors Include two other daughters, Mrs. Eileen Powell, Boston, Mass., and Mrs. Eva Ripka, of Center Hall, Pa.; three sons, Henry Braddell, North Tonawanda; Walter Braddell, Kenmore, and James Braddell, Grand Island; 32 grandchildren and 37 great • grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late John R. Braddell. She was born Feb. 15, 1893 in the Town of Newfane, daughter of William and Martha Bowman Branch. She was married June 24, 1915 at the Branch homestead, Hess Road, Town of Newfane. Her husband, Paul R. Sutton,, died Aug. 3,, 1958. Mrs. Sutton attended the former Bettinger Business School in Lockport, and was secretary to her father who was a wholesale produce and cold storage operator in Gasport for many years. More recently, she was employed in the cafeteria at De Sales Catholic High School. Mrs. Sutton was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lockport, Lockport Grange and Niagara County Home Depart- ment Extension Service. Kresge Co., opening major stores in the United States and Puerto Rico. He served in World War II and attained the rank of captain in the U.S. Army. His home address in Orlando was 5215 Ashmeade Road. Coroner James W. Heary is Investigating the death, following Mr Grantor's wounding on the John Pollow farm,, a quarter of a mile east of Ransomville, on the Youngs- town-Lockport Road. Trooper Kenneth W. Hemmer of the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, found that Mr.. Grant- er was shot at 2:30 P.M. on a rabbit hunting trip by his broth- er-in-law, David Henry Bonnett, 33, of th Moore Road, Ransomville. Edward Woodland, 36,, of 4408 Adele Ct., Niagara Falls, was with them when th tragedy occurred. Mr. Granter suffered a blast through the right kidney from a 12- guage shotgun which Mr. Bonnett was trying to cock four or fivve feet behind Mr.. Granter. Mr.. They lived on thai farm, which was a part of the original Holland Land Grant and was in the family for five generations, until the government purchased It as part' of the tract of land acquired for a government project in 1942. At that time they purchased a farm on the Slayton settlement Road, where they now reside. PROGRESSIVE FARMER Besides being a progressive dairy farmer, Mr. McCollum was for many years a member of the Ransomville Grange, Ransomville Men's Club. director of the L. F., president of the Dairymen's League Local and member of the Farm Bureau. He was one of the first tanners to practice conservation of soil In his area, and has a modern farm fully equipped and stocked with 100 head of registered holstein Fresian cattle. Which is a partnership with his youngest son, Kenneth Day McCollum. who owns a farm nearby. 15 GRANDCHILDREN The couple have two other sons. A Jerald McCollum of Ransomville and Melville C. McCollum of the Upper Mountain Road, and a daughter,, Mrs. Roy M. Schul of Cambria Road,, Sanborn. They al- so have 15 grandchildren. T, Walter Sheehan, Baltimore, Md., and William Sheehan, Cincin °nati, Ohio, one sister and two brothers, Mrs. William Salter, Buffalo, N. Y., Michael Donnelly, Lockport, N. Y., and Edward Donnelly, Chicago, ill., and fourteen grand children. The funeral will be held on Monday morning, December 16th at 8:30 o'clock at the family residence 131 Gooding street and at 9 o'clock at St. Patrick's church. Barry. 80. director of the Citizens' State Bank of Lyndonville, died of a stroke today at his home, 112 North Main street. Services will be held at the home at 2 30 Saturday, the Rev. W Edward Gill officiating Burial win be in Lvnhaven cemetery, Mr. Barry. son of the late Rich- ard and Mary Barry had been a lifelong resident of the Town of Yates and until his retirement five years ago he operated a produce business. He was a member of the Methodist church and had served on the village school board Three sons, Frank, Mark and Stanley Barry, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren,, and five great-grandchildren, all of Lyndonville, survive. | BARRY, Newton J (I125764)
