9651 | Lockport NY Union Sun Journal - 12/4/1935 OLCOTT, Dec. 4-Funeral services for Fenton Bullard, 73, who died Monday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harold Sage, were conducted at the home of Mrs. Sage, this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Dr. George T. Webb of Newfane officiated. Bearers were Clesson Outwater, Ira, L Dickinson, Christopher Wolf, George C. McCarty, William Phillips and Louis Brado. Interment was In Corwin cemetery, Newfane. Mr. Bullard was born on the Lake road east of Olcott, In the same house in which his father was born and where both father and son were engaged for many years In farming. After disposing of his farm he entered the employ of the Lockport Felt company at Newfane, which position he held 20 years until last May when ill health compelled him to retire. Married hi 1888. He then came to Olcott to reside with his daughter Mrs. Sage. He was married March 21, 1888 in Rochester to Ella L. Godfrey. His wife died, June 15, 1031. He was a member of the Olcott Methodist Episcopal church. Mr. Sage, his son-in-law, related a peculiar incident which occurred a few hours before Mr. Bullard's death, be asked for his watch, which had not been running for months. After winding it, it was put away and the watch had stopped at the exact time of his death. Other children, surviving besides Mrs. Sage are three sons and a daughter, Harry and Claude of Newfane, Ray of Lockport, and Mrs. Leah Williams also of Lockport. | BULLARD, Fenton (I187050)

9665 | Lockport NY Union Sun Journal - 12/8/1954 In a house built in 1861 on Gow Road, Appleton, on the farm purchased in 1831 by his grandfather, J. Reid Gow and his bride of 50 years ago entertained Tuesday afternoon and evening at a reception in honor of their Golden Wedding anniversary. Approximately 100 guests called to congratulate the couple, seven of whom were present at the wedding 50 years ago. Mr. Gow was born April 18, 1876 in the house which replaced a log cabin on the farm at the time of its purchase. Mrs. Gow, born April 24, 1881, is the former Myra Branch, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Branch of Hatter Road, Newfane. The couple was married Dec. 7, 1904 at the home of her parents, witnessed \ Mrs. Jessie C. Waring and Mrs. Sarah A. Branch. Eighty-one guests attended the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Gow had six children: Gladys Agnes, who died at the age of three years; Helen, married Frederick Strebe of Tonawanda; Walter, of Appleton, married Pansy Lucas; Robert, of Hartland, married Jean Bower; George, at home; Myrabelle, married Walter McPherson, spending the winter at Lakeland, Fla. They also have nine grandchildren. Engaged in dairy farming. Mr. Gow raises guernseys. He is a former school teacher, having attend ed District Two School, Town of Hartland and Lockport High School. He began teaching in 1895 and taught in many of the districts throughout the county. He retired from teaching to devote full time to farming. Mr. Gow is a Mason of 35 years standing, belonging to Newfane Lodge 947. He also belongs to the Niagara County 'Farm Bureau, of which he has been a member since its organization in 1914. The couple are members of Newfane Methodist Church, where Mrs. Gow is a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service. She also is a member of the WCTU and Home Bureau of North Hartland. 9673 | Lockport NY Union Sun Journal - 1928 Nicholas L, Brass, one of Niagara Falls' best known and respected citlzens, who for many years was engnged in the contracting business and has had a major part In the upbuilding ef that city, passed away peacefully Tuesday at his home, 923 Michigan avenue, Niagara Falls, He had been ill for several months. Born In Concord, N. Y., 62 years ago, Mr. Brass went to Niagara Falls 41 years ago and has resided there ever since. In 1888 he and his two brothers, Charles F. and Michael M. Brass organised and incorporated the firm of Brass Brothers company. This firm came to be the oldest contracting firm In the Cataract City and erected a large number of the Industrial, commercial and residence building, as well as public edifices, in Niagara Falls, These buildings now stand as a memorial to Mr. Brass. He was a member of the Niagara Falls Council, Knights of Columbus and of the Exempt Firemen's association. He was formerly a director of the Cataract National Bank. Mr Brass' wife died about ten years ago. He Is survived by five children. Charles J, Paul N Mary H, Claude E., and Nicholas L.. Brass. Surviving him also are his brother, Charles F and two sisters. He was born in North Platte, Neb., Dec. 23, 1896, son of the Rev. John G. and Grace (Phairn) Wirth. Mr. Wirth had lived most of his life in Lyndonville and the Town of Yates Until his retirement six years ago he was employed as a maintenance man at the H. J. Heinz Co., Medina. His first wife, the former Lucy Albone, died in 1941. In 1950, Mr. Wirth married Mrs. Frances Young Bentley who survives. Others survivors Include: two sons, Robert B. Wirth of Spencerport and Blaine of Lyndonville; three daughters, Mrs. William (Audrey) Munn of Spencerport, Mrs. Leslie (Marilyn) Trinder of Lakeview, and Miss Penuel Wirth of Lyndonville; five stepsons, David and Donald Bentley of Lyndonville; Norman of North Rose, N. Y., Curtis of Medina and Elton of Montana. Two brothers, William Wirth of Gasport and John G. 9680 | Lockport NY Union Sun Journal - 2/10/1958 MIAMI, Fla. - The search at sea for Mrs. Darts Bradley, St, of Ransomville, has been discontinued, the Coast Guard said today. Mrs. Bradley has been missing since Saturday whan the 16-foot motorboat in which she waa riding with a Wilson couple, a Town of Lockport man, and two Floridians, capsized. The six were thrown into the cboppy Atlantic about 80 miles south of Miami. Rescued were Stephen M. and Ann Carveth of Wilson and Harry Mawhiney, Upper Mountain Rd. Two Floridians also on the boat when it capsized, Jack Carlton and William Weldow, also were rescued. 2 SUFFER SHOCK Mrs. Carveth and Mr. Weldow were taken to a Key West hospital suffering from shock. The Coast Guard sent a helicopter to search the area for Mrs. Bradley. The survivors said she was wearing a life Jacket. Mrs. Bradley's husband, Roy L. Bradley, 60, was in another craft some distance ahead of his wifejs when the accident occurred The Bradleys left Ransemville by automobile last Monday for Florida where they were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Carveth and Mr. Mawhiney. Bil, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Bil of of 210 Washburn St. The Rev. Herbert L. Siegner officiated. Given in marriage by her fa- ther, the bride was exquisitely gowned in fine Chantilly Lace. The taut bodice and scoop neckline with jewelled tiny lace flowers was complimented with long sleeves, and the very full skirt fell over crinolines and terminal ed in a chapel length train. Her fingertip veil of French il- lusion was caught to a lace clip edged with pleated tulle and out Lined with pearls. She earned a cascade of white carnations and roses. MAID OF HONOR Miss Mary Lou Frombgen at s tended her sister as maid of hon- or. When Mr. and Mrs. Bil left for a two-week wedding trip to Flor- ida, the bride wore a white ine sheath with brown and black pol- ka dots, a white straw hat and patent leather purse and shoes. Surviving besides her husband and mother, Mrs. Merrill of Waterport, are two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Manning of Kenyonville and Mrs. William Rogers of Akron; one son, P f c . Wirt Bane stationed at Fort Lee, Va.; two granddaughters, one sister, Mrs. Warren Bulnan of Fairport; two nieces and several cousins. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Smythe Funeral Home, Lyndonville. The Rev. Bixler. 84 a lifelong resident of the Town of Newfane, died Sunday (Feb. 12, 1961) in Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital, where he had been a pa- tient for a week. He had been in ill health for a year and had been a resident of Restwell Nursing Home, Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls. Mr. Bixler was born Aug. 28, 1876, in Newfane, the son of Joshua and Alice Brown Bixler. He was a farmer on the Hess Rd. for over 60 years. His wife, Emma Bixler, died in 1959. Survivors include three daugh- ters, Mrs. Irving Cunningham, Tonawanda; Mrs. Ray Byerly, Lockport; and Mrs. Anthony Pag- ano of Niagara Falls, two sons, Lewis Bixler of Rochester and Leon Bixler of Newfane, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was born Nov. 29, 1892, in LeRoy, the son of Louis and Anna Bossart. His wife, the for mer Helen L. Heywood, died in June, 1954. Before his retirement, he had been employed as a tool a n d die grinder. Mr. Bossart was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church at Stafford.
