Traditional wedding music was
played by Miss Dolores Batterson
before the ceremony which united
in marriage Miss Grace Victoria
Westcott and Mr. Clarence Elsworth
Swearengen in the Hope Lutheran
church. Town of Niagara.
The Rev. Fred W. Van officiated
at the ceremony between the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis P. Westcott.
Woodside place, and the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence F. Swearengen.
Elsa place. The candlelit altar
was set with white gladioli. Mrs.
Fred W. Van sang "Because" and
'The Lord's Prayer" accompanied
by Miss Batterson.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride was attired in a marquisette
gown with a wide lace band
centered with a string of seed pearls
giving an off-the-shoulder effect.
Matching lace, used in the peplum,
extended into panels on each side of
the full skirt, which cascaded into
a train. A satin heart-shaped headpiece
held her illusion veil and she
carried a white prayer book; topped
with a white orchid.
The gowns of the bridal party
were fashioned along similar lines.
Miss Lucille Westcott, sister of the
bride and maid of honor, wore light
green, and the bridesmaids, Miss
Diane Winquist and Miss Gloria
Beemer, wore orchid and yellow respectively.
Styled similar to the
bride's gown the ensembles had a
small pleated bertha giving the offthe-
shoulder effect. Miss Westcott
carried a colonial bouquet of yellow
roses and mums while the
bridesmaids carried colonial bouquets
of red roses.
Mr. Donald Swearengen was best
man for his brother. The ushers
were Mr. Francis Bernier and Mr.
Gordon Hayes.
The mother of the bride favored
a gray satin dress with matching
accessories and a corsage of red
roses. The bridegroom's mother
chose a gray dress with red acces-
sories and a red rase corsage.
Mr. and Mrs. Swearengen, upon
their return from a motor trip
throughout New York state, will re-
side at Rt. 47, Liberty avenue. Town
of Niagara. For traveling the bride
wore a gray suit with black accessories
and an orchid corsage.
