Mr. and Mrs. Edward O. Helwig
of 39 Llnwood Ave., Tonawanda
will celebrate their 45th wedding
anniversary, which occurred
Nov. 2, at an open house reception
for family and friends Saturday.
Guests will be received from 4
to 9 p.m., in the home of the couple's
daughter, Winifred (Mrs.
Howard Fischer) in 4330 Chestnut
Rd, South Wilson. A buffet supper
will be:served.
Mr. Helwig and his wife, the
former Mary Bartel, are lifelong
residents of the Tonawandas.
They were married in Friedens
Church, North Tonawanda. Attendants
at their ceremony were
Hattie Helwig Astalos and Ervin
F. Bartel, now of Burney, Calif.
They are the parents of two
daughters, Mrs. Fischer, and Mrs.
George Wands (Lois) and a son,
Edward 0. Helwig of Wantagh,
Long Island. They have five
grandchildren, S h a r o n , Shirley
iand Gail Fischer and Lyn a n d
Keith Helwig.
Mr. Helwig retired in 1956 from
Spaulding Fibre Co., Tonawanda
and now spends much of his leisure
working in his "home shop"
making furniture and other articles.
Mrs. Helwig 'keeps b u sy
with church and community af-
fairs and sewing for her five
grandchildren.
