Mrs. Elmer McCloy of Lockport is
entertaining several guests this evening
at a variety shower in honor
of her sister, Miss Jessie Wilber of
West Avenue, Newfane, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Rollin Wilber, whose
engagement to Roy Beakman of
Lockport has been annouced. The
wedding will take place this month.

West avenue, Newfane, who this
week will become the bride of Roy
Beakman, son of Mrs. Lena Beak
man of 78 Erie street, this city, has
been feted at many delightful affairs.
Mrs John Kenific of 24 Howard
avenue was the first hostess, entertaining
Miss Wllber recently at a
variety shower and bridge.
A shower of gifts was presented
to the honor guest and a lunch was
served from a table centered with
yellow roses and daisies, and lighted
with yellow tapers. Covers were
laid for eight.
The Metropolitan Insurance company's
staff entertained Misa Wilber
at a dinner dance held in the
Park hotel with 40 guests attending.
Misa Wilber received a handsome
hospitality tray and toaster set, the
presentation being made by Edward
W. Deckro; who also presented her
with a silver four-piece coffee set
upon a silver tray, a gift from Mr.
and Mrs. Deckro and their daughter,
Marjorie.
Miss Wilber was entertained on
Friday evening by her sister, Mrs.
Elmer McCloy. of 93 Elm wood avenue,
at a variety shower. Prises
were awarded to the bride-elect,
and a lunch was served from an
attractive table decorated in pink,
with a .miniature bride marking
Miss Wllber's place.
On Saturday evening she was
again entertained with Mr. Beakman
by Mr. and Mrs. James Mosure
of 87 Spalding street. Games were
played. A buffet supper was served
to 14 guests and a guest price was
presented to the honor guests who
also received a shower of red and
white kitchen utensils.
Miss Wilber was entertained on
Monday evening by Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth Lichtenderden of 270 Willow
street at an orchid bathroom
shower. Sixteen couples were received.
Mrs,, Donald Urtel of 62 Prospect
street will be hostess at a small
linen shower this evening.

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Rolland
Wilber of West avenue, Newfane,
was the scene of a lovely autumn
wedding at 4 o'clock Thursday,
October 14 wnen their daughter
Miss Jessie Louise became the bride
of Roy Beakman, son of Mrs, Lena
Beakman of 76 Erie street, Lockport.
To the strains of the Lohengrin
wedding march played by Miss Jean
Allen, the bride and her matron of
honor, her sister, Mrs. Elmer McCloy
of this city descended the stairs
and took their places in the living
room before an. embankment of
ferns and autumn flowers. Here
they were met by the groom, his
brother Carl Beakman of Lockport
and the officiating clergyman, the
Rev. Grover C. Bucher pastor of
the local Methodist Episcopal
church.
The bride, who was given in marriage
by her father, was attractive
in a gown of blue velvet and she
carried Talisman roses. Mrs. McCloy
wore a Dubonnet velvet gown
and carried cream roses. Mrs. Wilber
wore a blue flowered crepe and Mrs.
Beakman black crepe with lace.
A reception to twelve guests followed
the ceremony, the bride's
table being centered with a threetiered
wedding cake and yellow favors
were used.
Mr. and Mrs. Beakman left on a
trip to Atlantic city, the bride wearing
rust crepe with brown accessories.
Upon their return they will be
at home at 71 Erie street, Lockport.
Among the pre-nuptial entertainments
were a dinner dance by
the Metropolitan Staff; a variety
shower by Mrs. John Kenlflc of
Howard avenue; a variety shower
by Mrs. Elmer McCloy of Elmwood
avenue; a black and white kitchen
shower by Mr. and Mrs. James Mosure;
an orchid bath room shower
by Mrs. Kenneth Llchtenberger and
a linen shower by Mrs, Donald Urtel.
