In a house nearly filled with fragrant
flowers sent by well-wishers
Mr. and Mrs. Henry S. Tompkins, of
642 Ninetieth street, today are receiving
the congratulations of neighbors
and friends on the celebration of their
sixty-sixth wedding anniversary.
The prominent La Salle couple was
married on March 2, 1871. by the Rev
Z. N. Hurd. of Pekin. For many years
Mr. Tompkins, who owned a large
fruit farm, served as justice of the
peace of the village. Since his retirement
they have spent the winters In
Florida, returning to their Ninetieth
street home for the summers.
While friends continued to drop in
throughout the day with personal congiatulations.
Mr and Mrs. Tompkins
received numerous letters and congratulatory
telegrams from acquaintances
who were unable to be present
Wires were rereived early in the
day from two sons, Cester, of St
Marys, Idaho, and Harry, of Forth
Worth, Texas, and two grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Tompkins also have two
daughters at home. Mariam H. V , and
Kathleen I. V.
