Mrs Melvin Scarbrough and Mrs.
Roger Hayes entertained on T h u r s day
evening at a dinner party at
Maple Brook Manor, in honor of
Miss Helen Jex, whose marriage to
Francis Bewley takes place In June.
The table was centered with a
crystal bowl filled with Spring flow-
ers. Green tapers in crystal can-
delabra were used. The bride's
place was marked with a corsage of
white roses.
Five hundred was played, prizes
going to Mrs. Howard Gardner and
Mrs. Donald Luff. A guest prize was
given the bride-elect.
Others present were the Misses
Freda Jex, Mabel Hensel, Marietta
Pletcher, Ruth Cramer, Albertine
Thomas, Margaret Kirch, Mrs. Les-
ter Warwick, Mrs. Milton Sherman
and Mrs. Harold Towne of Middle-
port.

Mrs. Donald W. Luff pleasantly
entertained gueste recently at her
home, North Ridge, for Miss Helen
Jex, whose marriage to Francis
Bewley took place Sunday,
Bridge and five hundred were enjoyed,
favors being awarded to Mrs.
Charles Bewley, Mrs. Frederick Jex
and Mrs. Herman Smith.
Later a luncheon was served from
a prettily appointed table centered
with Japanese iris and ragged robin,
with matching tapers. Dainty pastel
baskets with linen handkerchiefs
marked the guests' places.
The guests included Mrs. George
Bewley, Mrs. Milford Luff, Mrs. Joseph
Bewley, Mrs. Marian Luff, Mrs.
Harold Town, Mrs. Rlehard Bewley,
Mrs. Walter Luff, Mrs. Norval Bowler.
Mrs. Nelson Jex.
Miss Susan Barber, Miss Mildred
Bewley and Miss Freda Jex.

A pretty June wedding was
solemnized Sunday evening at the
Christ Episcopal church when Miss
Helen M. Jex of 248 Clinton street,
was united in marriage to Francis
D. Bewley, the Rev. H. Irvine Lynds
officiating.
Carle ton Drew played the organ
and "At Dawning" was rendered by
MLss Mildred Matthews. The church
decorations were roses and pink and
white peonies.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, Frederick Jex, was
charming in a beautiful white Queen
Anne lace gown made in princess
style with a long train over white
satin. Her long veil of illusion fell
gracefully from a lace cap caught to
a halo of orange blossoms. She wore
white satin sandals and carried a
shower bouquet of white roses, lilies
of the valley and gypsophila.
She was attended by her sister,
Miss Freda Jex, as maid of honor.
Her gown of white mousseline de sole
was made with tight bodice and
swing skirt. She wore an orchid
picture hat and orchid satin slippers.
She carried an arm bouquet
of talisman roses orchid sweet
peas and gypsophila.
Mrs Donald Luff of North Ridge
and Mrs. Harold Towns of Middleport,
sisters of the bride, and Miss
Mildred Bewley. sister of the groom,
were bridesmaids. Their gowns
were fashioned on pricess lines,
Mrs. Luff wearing pink mousseline
de soie with blue slippers. Mrs.
Towne wearing blue mousseline de
soie with pink slippers. Each car-
ried an arm bouquet of pink roses
and delphinium. Miss Bewley wore
acquamarine with white sippers, her
bouquet being of talisman roses and
delphinium. each bridemaid wore
a flowered halo of roses and sweet
peas to match her bouquet.
The bride's mother wore a gown
ol Wind.sor blue, Mrs. Bewley wearing
a gown of pink lace. Joseph H
Bewley was his brother's best man.
George Bewley and Charles Bewley,
brothers of the groom, acted as
ushers.
Following the ceremony a recep-
tion was held at the Park hotel for
immediate members of the family.
Covers were laid for 30 at the
bride's table, which was decorated
with baskets of white and pink
roses and white candles in silver
holders. The attendants' boouquets
were placed along the center of the
table and a bride's cake was placed
at one end.
Mr. and Mrs. Bewley left for a
trip to New York City, Atlantic City
and Washington. The bride's travel-
ing gown was a peach wool suit with
brown accessories.

Burt, Newfane and Lockport
