LOCKPORT, Nov. 19.-Fifty years
ago, on November 19, 1887, Mr. and
Mrs. August Bluhm, 74 South Niagara
street, were married in the
town of Lockport by the Rev. Arthur
Hanser, who was then pastor
of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran
church, this oity.
This afternoon, on their golden
wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs.
Bluhm, both still in good health,
received the congratulations of
many friends and relatives at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. William
Sewar, 74 South Niagara street.
Mrs. Sewar is a daughter of the
happy couple.
A day of celebration which recalled
many Joys and sorrows of
a fleeting half century will be
brought to a close this evening
when the honored couple will be
feted by members of their family
at a dinner to the Park hotel.
Mr. Bluhm was born in Germany,
September 1, 1863, and his
wife first saw the light of day in
the same country two years later
on December 22, 1865- Both came
here In their early twenties and
have lived ln Lockport ever since.
For 22 years Mr. Bluhm was toployed
in the old Indurated Fibre
corporation plant. Then he obtained
employment at the Federal
Milling company and remained
there for another 21 years. He la
now retired.
Mr. and Mrs. Bluhm have lived
in South Niagara street for many
years. Both are members of Trinity
church.
Joining with them ln the celebration
of their golden wedding are
four sons, three daughters and 15
grandchildren. The children are
Fred, Frank. William and Herbert
Bluhm. Mrs. Fred Pratt, Mrs. Lee
Taylor and Mrs. William Sewar, all
of this city.
