Mr. and Mrs. Raymond J. Brigham,
Slayton Settlement Rd., Gasport,
announce the engagement of
their daughter, Karen, to Roger
Chester Payne, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Chester Payne, Hartland
Rd., Gasport.
The future bride is a graduate
of Royalton - Hartland Central
Central School. Her fiance is a
of Barker Central School.
Nov. 11 is the date set for the
wedding.

Baskets of orchid, white,
and pink pompons provided
the setting on Saturday, Nov.
11, when Miss Karen Marie
Brigham and Roger Chester
Payne were married before
the Rev. Edward Kolhe, p astor
of Gasport Congregational
Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond J.
Brigham Sr., Slayton Settlement
Road, Gasport, are the
bride's parents. The bridegroom
is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Chester J. Payne, Hartland
Road, Gasport.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride was attired
in a chapel length gown of
satin. Lace embroidery accented
the petal neckline and
the waist of the princesssleeved
bodice. Lace rose petals
outlined with pearls held
her bouffant veil, and she held
a cascade of white roses.
Pink roses formed the bouquet
carried by Miss Sua
Ann Brigham, the bride's sister,
who was dressed in a
street-length violet satin gown
with matching headpiece.
Attired in similar ensembles
and carrying bouquets of
pink roses surrounded by orchid
pompons were bridesmaids,
Miss Judith King, Miss
Marilyn Roszman, Miss Patricia
Payne, all of Gasport,
and Mrs. Loretta Harrod of
Barker.
The bride's sister, Carrie
Lee Brigham, served as flower
girl, and was dressed in a
white satin gown with a
matching pillbox hat. She carried
a basket of orchid and
pink pompons.
For his best man the bridegroom
chose his brother,
James Payne, while another
brother, Raymond J. Brigham
Jr., shared ushering duties
with Gary and William Harrod
of Barker, and John O.
Thompson of Burt.
A yellow rose corsage highlighted
the blue sheath dress
and blue and gold accessories
worn by the bride's mother.
Beige accessories complemented
the brown costume
worn by Mrs. Payne with a
yellow rose corsage.
Approximately 450 guests
were received at the evening
reception held at CIO-UAW
Hall. Bouquets of pompons
decorated the bride's table
which held a five-tiered wedding
cake topped by a miniature
bride and bridegroom.
Miss Carol Just and Miss
Donna Oesterle presided at
the punch bowl.
When the couple left for
their honeymoon trip to Canada,
Mrs. Payne was wearing
a grey suit with lemon-colored
trim and silver accessories.
They plan to make their
home on the Slayton Settlement
Road.
Out-of-town guests attended
from Akron, Newfane, Niagara
Falls, and Pulaski,
The former Miss Brigham
is a graduate of Royalton-
Hartland Central School. The
bridegroom served in the U.S.
Air Force after graduating
from Barker Central School.
