  Niagara Gazette - 5/15/1944 GRAND ISLAND-Henry Ackerman, 68, died suddenly of a heart attack Saturday evening at his home in the Staley road. Mr. Ackerman was bom on Grand Island, a son of pioneer settlers, and had resided here all his life. In former years he was a successful farmer and for more than 20 years served as town superintendent of highways, for the last few years he had been employed on the south Grand Island bridge. Mr. Ackerman is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elvlna Staley Ackerman. at home; three daughters . Mrs. Alice Benton, of Grand Island. Mrs. Andrus. of Buffalo, and Miss Betty Ackerman, at home; one son, Lorn Ackerman of Kenmore, N. Y. Funeral services will be held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. Marvin Rickert will officiate. Interment will be In Staley cemetery.
