- Obituary for Thomas Lavender Pendleton
Thomas Lavender Pendleton, 96, of North Tonawanda, Thursday (April 27, 2023). Thomas was born in Springfield, Ohio on September 12, 1926 to Richard and Evelyn (Oelkers) Pendleton.
Thomas was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda, member of Columbia Hook & Ladder No. 1 for 69 years, and recipient of New York State “Firefighter of the year”.
Thomas was predeceased by his wife Arta Mae (Pinck) Pendleton who died in 2007 and Thomas Henry (Suzanne) Pendleton in 2020.
Thomas is survived by his children, Marjorie (David) Switala, and Henry G. (Cindy) Pendleton, and 6 grandchildren.
Dad worked very hard to provide a good life for his family including Buffalo News Sports writer, Dupont, National Grinding Wheel, Sterling Amherst Milk (SAM) the milkman, his favorite job, Office Max and M&M Transport.
Tom was a Veteran of the Navy, serving on the USS Lake Champlaiin in WW II. Thomas was a member of North Presbyterian church, & served devotedly on many committees throughout his life. Tom will be missed by his Family, Church & Firefighters Family and friends.
Friends may call Friday, May 5, 2023 from 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the Wattengel Funeral Home, 533 Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda, where funeral services will follow. Inurnment will be held in White Chapel Memorial Park.
