WEST LAFAYETTE, IN — Mary Jane Lenz Barr, 74, of West Lafayette, IN, died February 2, 2011 at her residence. Born November 15, 1936 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Cecile Roth Lenz.
She was a 1954 graduate of Niagara Falls High School and a 1978 graduate of Ivy Tech. She married William Holloway in July 1955 in Niagara Falls. Her second marriage was to Harry L. Barr on September 4, 1984, and he preceded her in death on February 21, 1997. Mrs. Barr was an L.P.N. at the Indiana Veteran’s Home for 22 years before retiring in 1998. She then worked at McAllister Recreational Center. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed bowling and playing cards.
Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Beck (husband, Timothy) of Pendleton, Diana Holloway of Pittsboro, IN and Tammy Kerr of Brookston, IN; a step-daughter, Cynthia Stogsdill; a sister, Nancy Haviland of Niagara Falls; and a brother, Edward Kelly of Colorado Springs, CO. Three granddaughters and three step-granddaughters also survive. She was preceded in death by two sisters, JoAnn D’Aloise and Patricia Lenz.
Visitation from 3 PM to service at 4:30 PM on Tuesday at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Chapel. Celebrant, Carla Ellis officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the American Lung or Cancer Society.
