NIAGARA FALLS — Thomas W. Beahen, 80, passed away suddenly on March 31, 2013. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Monte and Martha Beahen. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Peggy Ann Beahen (nee Holt) in 2006. He was predeceased by siblings, Philip Beahen, Monte "Bud" Beahen, Rene Gabrielle and Betty Hotchkiss.
Tom is survived by his children, Thomas W. Beahen, Jr. (Barbara), Timothy J. Beahen (Sharon) and Martha "Marty" Beahen-Templeton; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Norman and many nieces and nephews.
Tom was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and attended local schools. Tom served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1955, serving as an electrician aboard the USS San Pablo and the USS Briareus, until his honorable discharge. Tom received the National Defense Service Medal for his service. Following his discharge he worked for N.Y. Telephone Company-Verizon until his retirement, starting as a lineman and working his way up to supervisory positions.
Tom enjoyed tending the old family farm in Virginia. He was a member of Niagara LaSalle Lodge 132 F & A. M. in Niagara Falls, NY. He loved reading, playing chess and was an avid sportsman. Tom loved fishing, boating, canoeing, riding his 4-wheeler, woodworking and keeping up the house. One of his favorite pastimes was taking photos of the beautiful scenery along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia.
No services will be held. He will be interred at the Teel Family Cemetery in Bent Mountain, VA, at the family's convenience.
