NIAGARA FALLS — Sallie M. Volpe, 86, of Niagara Falls, NY, died, peacefully, on Saturday, August 6, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Elba, AL, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Willie Bell (Sasser) Mack.
Sallie moved to Niagara Falls in August 1942. She was employed at the Carborundum Corporation for 15 years. On April 28, 1951, she married Anthony A. Volpe in St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. For the past 40 years, she worked for the Food Service Department at Niagara University, where she developed lifelong friendships. Sallie was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She also enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
Sallie was predeceased by her loving husband of 37 years, Anthony A. Volpe, who passed away on February 10, 1988. Sallie is survived by one son, Daniel A. (Lori) Volpe of Niagara Falls, NY; two daughters, Kathryn (Robert) Schul and Janet (Joseph) Rulli, both of Lewiston, NY; seven grandchildren, Anthony and Michael Volpe, Carly and Connor Schul, and Paul, Mark and Dianna Rulli; one brother, William (Virginia) Mack of Lewiston, NY; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by sisters, Pearl (William) Simpson of Youngstown, NY, Ruth (William) Donovan of Lewiston, NY; and a brother, Bennie (Josephine) Mack of North Tonawanda, NY. She was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters in Elba, AL.
Visitation will be on Monday from 2–7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 9th, at 10:00 AM, at St. Peter’s Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
