White gladiolas, palms and light-
ed candles adorned tha altar and
white satin bows and clusters of
red asters decorated the pews of
the Third Presbyterian Church
Saturday evening Sept. 21, for the
marriage of Miss Lucille Goodman,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs Stanley
Goodman and Robert Schmitt, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Schmitt.
The Rev. William H. Saye, officiated
at a double ring ceremony.
Miss Arlene Lubs, cousin of the
bride, presided at the organ, playing
soft music throughout the
ceremony, and sccompanying Mrs.
Gunnison, soloist, who sang, "Because"
and "The Lord's Prayer."
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride was lovely in a gown
of white satin and net, fashioned
with high rounded neckline, with
net and beaded yoke, fitted sstin
bodice with peplum snd long
sleeves forming points over the
wrists. The full net skirt faffing
in a long train. Her finger tip circular
veil fell from a beaded tiara.
She carried a showed bouquet of
white roses, pompoms and gyosophilia.
She also wore a single strand
pearl necklace, a gift of the groom.
Mrs. Kenneth Holmes, cousin of
the bride, sttended as matron of
honor, while Miss Anne Goodman,
sister of the bride and Miss Dorothey
Rhoadhouse acted as bridesmaids.
The sttendants all wore
identical gowns of white faille and
carried bouquets of red roses,
white pompoms, and aypsophilia,
tied with red satin ribbons, and
each wearing a small cluster of
white pompoms in their hair.
Kenneth Holmes was best man.
and the ushers were Glenwood
Zimmerman. cousin of the sroom
and Gerald Dischinger.
The mothers' of the bride and
groom each chose black crepe
with matching accessories, and
wore corsages of mixed flowers.
Following the ceremony a reception
for 123 guests was held
at the home of the bride In Wilson.
A buffet lunch was served
from a lace covered table. centered
with a tiered wedding cake and
lighted tapers. Miss Kay McCann
and- Miss Helen Rhodehouse pre-
siding at the urns
Mr. and Mrs. Schmitt left for a
motor trip to West Virginia, visiting
tha Luray Caverns, and returning
by the way of Washington
D. C. The bride traveled in a
brown wool suit with matching
accessories, and a corsage of yellow
roses.
Upon their return and after Oct.
1, they will be at home at 1009
Nash Road.
On Thursday evening Sept. 19,
after the rehersal. Mr. and Mrs.
Ward Hagle entertained the bridal
party and the two immediate families
at which time the bride
presented her attendants with gifts
of bracelets, and the groom presented
his with wallets.
Pre-nuptial affairs were given
by Mrs. Ward Hagle. Oorothy
Schmitt, Mrs. Kenneth Holmes.
Arlene Lubs, Mrs. Oberan and
Miss Dorothy Rhoadhouse.
