- John L. Gravanti, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, under the compassionate care of his children, Gabrielle and Jon, as well as Hospice Buffalo, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Niagara Falls, John was the beloved son of the late Luca and Maria (D'Agostino) Gravanti. He graduated from Niagara Falls High School and proudly served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1959.
For many years, John owned and operated with his wife, Karen, the well-known Mico's II Hair Designers on Haeberle Avenue in Niagara Falls. His passion for his work brought him immense joy and resulted in lasting friendships with his loyal clients. John was notably honored to serve as the hairdresser for the Miss USA Pageant in Niagara Falls from 1974 to 1976.
Beyond his professional life, John found happiness in tending to his garden and decorating his home. Above all, he dedicated his life to his family, who will miss him dearly.
John is survived by his children, Jon Michael (Kasandra) Gravanti, and Gabrielle (Carl, USAF) Hall; his adored grandchildren, Giuliana Christian, Alessia, and Giada; his best friend and love of his life, Karen (Croisdale) Gravanti; and his father-in-law, Clarence (late Betty) Croisdale. He is also fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
John was predeceased by his siblings, Anthony (late Josephine) Gravanti, Theresa (late Robert) Palmisano, Marge (late Dom) Rotella, Helen (late Ron) Zito, and Bobby (Doraine) Gravanti.
Private services will be held with Military honors and interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Arrangements by M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, Niagara Falls, NY.
