Paul J. Zito, 60, of 827 16th
St., a consultant with the Alvin
E. Katz agency of the John
Hancock Life Insurance Co. for
22 years, died in Memorial
Hospital Tuesday (April 4,
1967) after an illness of about
a year.
He was born in this city, was
graduated from St. Joseph's
Parochial School in 1920 and
Niagara University in 1924, and
attended St. John's University
Law School for on%.year.
He studied to be an insur-.
ance consultant at Purdue University.
As well as being- associated
with the Katz agency he arlso
was associated with the former
John V. Zito real estate and
insurance agency.<
Mr. Zito played football' for
Niagara University, Niagara
Falls Rangers and Stone Gordon
Rangers.
He was past president of St.
Joseph's Holy Name Society,
the Columbian Retreat League,
the First Friday Club, president
of St. Vincent dePaul Society
of St. Joseph's Church, a
member of the Ushers Club of
the church, a third-degree
member of the Knights of Columbus
Council 247, and for
more than 10 years served as
co-chairman of the large gifts
committee of the Catholic
Charities Drive at St. Joseph's
Church.
Also, he was a past president
of the Niagara Falls Life Underwriters
Association, p a st
president- of. the Pine Avenue
Businessmen's A s s o c i atiori,
charter member of the Sertoma
Club, was active with the Niagara
Falls Area Chamber of
Commerce and was on the advisory
board of the Niagara
Falls Housing project.
Surviving .are his widow,
Mrs. Sara (Critelli) Zito; two
daughters, Mrs. Frank (Dolores)
Massaro, and Miss Carol
Zito at home; his mother,
Mrs. Catherine Zito, this city;
five brothers, Anthony, Samuel,
Joseph and Ralph Zito of this
city and Brother John of the
Salesian Order in New Rochelle,
N.Y.; four sisters, Mrs.
Charles (Jennie) Ruggirello,
Mrs. Anthony (Mary) Catalfamo
and Mrs. Dominic (Margaret)
Certo, all of this city,
and Sister Josephine of the
Salesian Order, Rosetta, Ra.
and three grandchildren.
A brother, James V. Zito
predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held
Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the
M. J. Colucci Funeral Chapel
and at 9:15 a.m. in St. Joseph's
Church where a Mass of Requiem
will be offered. Burial
will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Friends may call after 7
p.m. today and 2 to 5 p.m. and
7 to. 10 p.m. Thursday and
Friday.
The family said that contributions
to the St. Vincent de
Paul Society will be acceptable
as tributes.
The Holy Name Society of
St. Joseph's Church, the St.
Vincent dePaul Society and the
Knights of Columbus will meet
Friday at 8 p.m. at the chapel
to recite the Rosary.
