- Marion Ida (Pletcher) Soforic Osborne, entered into eternal rest on May 25, 2019 in Gasport, NY, at the age of 97, while surrounded by her loving family. Marion was born to the late Orlee and Arena (Musall) Pletcher on August 30, 1921, in North Tonawanda, NY, where she continued to be a lifelong resident until her move to Absolut Care of Gasport in 2012.
Marion was a loving wife to her first husband, the late Edward Soforic, who passed away in 1957, and to her second husband, the late Charlie Osborne, who passed away in 2009.
She was preceded in death by one brother, LaVerne Pletcher; two sisters, Ora Graham and Lucille Goldsworthy; two step-children, Kathy (Don) Smith and Charlie Osborne; an infant grandson, Branden Lee Ohar; and infant twin granddaughters, Christine and Jennifer Warblow.
Marion is survived by three children, Diane (Gary) Popovice of Palmetto, FL, Janice (George) Ohar of Wheatfield, NY, and Ronald (Darcy) Soforic of Lockport, NY.
She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Kristin (Jay) Niles, Jill (Richard) Walker, Laura (Derek) Goforth, Aaron (Maureen) Ohar, Rebecca Ohar, Rachael Ohar, Jordan (Mandi) Ohar, Lindsey Soforic, Christien Soforic, and Danielle Soforic; as well as twelve great-grandchildren, one step-great-great-grandchild; four dear sisters in law, Ruth Soforic, Juan Pletcher, Ima Lee Jones, and Betty Lawter; many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Marion was known for her sweet disposition. She did not have an easy life, yet never complained. Marion never had a bad word to say about anyone- a beautiful soul. She enjoyed crafting, socializing, and most of all spending time with her family every chance she had.
Marion was employed by Dr. Schopp, in her earlier years and retired from Niswander Eye Center, where she served as an Ophthalmologist Assistant. Marion was a lifelong member of Payne Avenue Christian Church, in North Tonawanda. She was a proud member of the Inter Amicos Club, which was a club that consisted of a continued high school sorority, that remained together as a close group of friends for approximately 65 year.
A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. Michael A. Keicher, on July 2 at 7:00 p.m., in the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in Marion's memory.
