Dorothy (nee Rech) Marohn, age 95 of the City of Tonawanda, Monday, December 22, 2014 at Garden Gate Health Care Facility. A lifelong resident of Tonawanda, she was the wife of Alvin R. Marohn who died in 1967 and daughter of the late Fred A. and Agnes (nee Johnson) Rech. A 1937 graduate of Tonawanda High School, Dorothy had been employed as a Dental Hygiene Teacher in the City of Tonawanda School System for 24 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was a former Elder and Deacon. She was also a member of the Circle Three Women's Group of the church and a founding member of the Memorial Garden Foundation. She was also a member of DeGraff Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and several Dental Hygiene Associations.
She is survived by four children, Gerilyn (Timothy) Oldenburg of North Tonawanda, Dan (Rosemary), Alvin A. (Laura) and Randy (Lynn) Marohn, all of Tonawanda; four grandchildren, Timothy A. (Kelly) Oldenburg, Jenna (Douglas) Sybert, Dana (fiance Charles Spiliotis) Marohn and Rosellen Marohn and six great grandchildren, Oscar, Ezra, Zaris and Imogene Sybert, Griffin and Gavin Oldenburg and her brother, Peter (the late Marilyn) Rech of St Paul, MN. She was the sister of the late Emily Rech, Genevieve (the late Glen) Demmin, Audrey (the late Robert) Kirkpatrick, Imogene (the late John) Haacker, Charles (the late Ruth) Rech and Fred Rech; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday from 4-7 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St., (between Morgan & Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda. Funeral sevices will be conducted at 9:30 AM Saturday in First Presbyterian Church, 149 Broad St. in Tonawanda. Friends invited. The Rev. Dr. Lance Brown will officiate, Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden Fund.
