William Zwiefka
The Tonawanda News
NORTH TONAWANDA — William "Billy" Zwiefka, of North Tonawanda, passed away peacefully in his sleep after a brief, but valiant, battle with cancer, while under the tender care of his brother, Leon, and the wonderful people at Niagara Hospice. He had a mere 42 years to share his love and kindness with this world, but in that glimpse, he managed to infect all those around him with a child-like sense of wonder and joy, as that is how he viewed the world. Always full of hope and love, Billy could destroy even the rain's plan to spoil a picnic and the frown's intent to sully a smile; and a smile he had for everyone, friend and stranger alike. Billy was truly a unique and purely contagious man; the world was made a little more beautiful because of his life, his love, and his style.
He embraced his Father in Heaven as his true light and guidance, always leaving Him to steer his will and never faltering from faith even when life hit him the hardest. He is wrapped in the light of his Lord, now, free from pain and disability, knowing only the love He provides. Billy was predeceased by his most beloved mother, Shirley McNair, in June of this year; and his precious little brother, Sean, just two years ago.
He is survived by his father, Matthew Zwiefka; his brothers, Eugene Zwiefka, Leon (Michelle) Zwiefka, Joseph (Maria) Zwiefka, and Rusty Rubino; and his baby sister, Margaret Grennon; and many nieces and nephews, who were his darlings in life.
The family will celebrate Billy and his light by receiving friends after 7 PM tonight (Thursday) at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., 37 Adam Street at Seymour, Tonawanda, where funeral services will be held at 8 PM this evening. Friends invited. Interment will be cared for privately at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Lewiston. If desired, memorials to Niagara Hospice or Roswell Park Cancer Institute are preferred by the family.
