Two wedding anniversaries were
celebrated in Tonawanda over the
week-end by couples, whose families
include two members of the
city police department. Mr. and
Carl Ullrich of 378 Broad street,
one of whose sons, William Ullrich
is a desk sergeant on the
Tonawanda police department, observed
the 50th anniversary of
their wedding at their home last
night, surrounded by members of
their family and friends. Patrolman
and Mrs. Max Pagels celebrated
their silver anniversary at
the home, 73 Minerva street, on
Saturday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Ullrich, natives of
Tonawanda, were united in marriage
50 years ago Saturday by
the late Rev. Mr. Wittlinger, then
pastor of the Salem Evangelical
and Reformed church, located at
Morgan and Main streets. Mrs.
Ullrich, who was Miss Anna Mungold,
is 69, Mr. Ullrich is 75.
They have two sons, William
and Harold, and two daughters.
Mrs. Albert Sponholz and Mrs.
William Probst, and one grandson,
all residents of Tonawanda.
They had charge of the celebration,
which was in the nature of
a surprise. The couple received
many valuable gifts, flowers and
felicitations from relatives and
friends. A large wedding cake
centered the dinner table.
Married 25 years ago by the
Rev. F. O. Scholz of the Emmanuel
Evangelical Lutheran church,
Mr. and Mrs. Pagels celebrated
their silver anniversary with a
dinner, dancing and cards. Among
the 40 participants in the event
were four generations, Mr. and
Mrs. Pagels, their son, Donald,
23; their granddaughter, Judith
one, and Mr. Pagel's father,
Charles. 80.
Mrs. Pagels was Miss Martha
Goerke before her marriage.
The couple were the recipients
of many presents, mostly silverware.
The wedding cake ^that
surmounted the dinner table, at
which Mr. and Mrs. Pagels sat,
was decorated with a miniature
couple in wedding attire.
