Two sudden deaths in North
Tonawanda required the investigation
last night and today of
Coroner J. E. Helwig. Driving
along Oliver street near the Spillman
Engineery Company's plant
shortly before 8 o'clock this morning,
Frank Heim, an employe of
the company, saw a man sitting
on the sidewalk in a helpless condition.
Heim learned that the
roomed at the Lincoln Hotel,
Main and Goundry streets, and,
placing him in his car, drove rapidly
to the hotel. Hurrying inside
to secure help, Heim and several
guests returned to the car
and found the man dead. Dr.
Helwig said that death was due to
a heart attack.
In the man's pocket was found
a card, on which appeared the
riame of William Carpenter, 77
years old, 134 Main street, North
Tonawanda. The police and Coroner
Helwig were trying this
afternoon to learn if this is the
man's name and whether he has
any relatives.
Dies Eating Apple.
Dr. Helwig was called to the
home of Gerhardt Zuch, 1521
Kingston street late last night
because of the sudden death of
Warren Hill, 53 years old, a
boarder, who was employed as a
cabinet maker at the Wurlitzer
company's plant on the Niagara
Falls boulevard. Hill was eating
an apple when he was stricken,
passing away almost instantly.
Dr. Helwig gave the cause of
death as apoplexy.
Mrs. Frederick G. Voss of Buffalo,
a daughter and the only
surviving immediate member of
Hill's family, came to North Ton-
awanda this afternoon and made
arrangements for services Sunday
afternoon and cremation at
Forest Lawn, Buffalo.
