Gaston B. Routhier, Sr., a longtime Wheatfield resident, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015, at University of North Carolina Hospital, Chapel Hill, NC. He was born in Marshfield, VT on February 25, 1926, the son of the late Albert and Rose (Goupil) Routhier.
Mr. Routhier served his country in the U.S. Army shortly after WWII in Tokyo. After his honorable discharge he came home and married the love of his life Dorothy I. (Beach) Routhier, on August 21, 1946, in Holy Rosary Church, they were married 59 years.
He is survived by five sons; David G. (companion of Lynne Fries ), Gaston B.(Sharon ) Jr., Ronald E. (companion of Rose Opera), Michael J. (Kathleen) and Timothy K. (Margaret ). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Verna (Dwayne) Cromwell, Pauline (Charles) Fuhrmann, Irene Stazak, Ernest (Donna) Routhier, Madeline Eiss and late Lillian, Rene, Rita, Florette, Antonia and Gerard.
The family will be present at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, SANBORN, 5893 Hoover Road on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Immaculate Conception Church , 4671 Townline Road Ransomville, NY 14131, with Rev. James Bastian officiating. Interment with military honors at North Ridge Cemetery, Town of Cambria, NY. Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Church.
