Richard R. "Dick" Ellman

NORTH TONAWANDA — Richard R. "Dick" Ellman, age 76, a native of North Tonawanda before moving to the Town of Niagara in 2001. He was born on March 27, 1935; his parents were the late Reuben and Bernice Ellman.
Dick was a very active Volunteer Fireman in the 1960s and 70s. He was a 54-year member of Gratwick Hose, where he served as Financial Secretary, 1st Lieutenant and Captain. He belonged to the Niagara County Volunteer Fireman, the Niagara County Volunteer Chiefs, the Fireman's Association of the State of New York, the W.N.Y. Volunteer Fireman's Association and the North Tonawanda Volunteer Benevolent Association.
Dick's working career spanned 43 years in the oil industry, starting at Canlake Petroleum, Ashland Oil and NOCO Energy Corp. He retired from NOCO in 1997 as a Service Manager.
Beloved husband of Judith (nee Mye) Ellman for over 55 years. Father of Richard P. (Debra) Ellman, Randal (Laura) Ellman and Kristin S. Curry, all of North Tonawanda. The love of his life were his grandchildren, Matthew Ellman, Erin (fiancee', Bill Kinmartin) Ellman, Alisha (Mykle) Gaynor, Amanda (Tim) Taylor and twin granddaughters, Suzanne and Lindsay Curry. Great-grandfather of Makaela Lovell and Andrew Gaynor. Brother of Marcia (Edward) Fernbacher, Ned T. Ellman and the late Larry Ellman. Brother-in-law of Judy Ellman. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Son-in-law of Vera (late Herbert) Mye.
No prior visitation. Private services and cremation will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
