Charles W. Heylmun

NEWFANE — Charles W. Heylmun, age 86, died Saturday, October 27, 2012, at Newfane Rehabilitation Center, after a long illness. Born in Lackawanna, he was the son of the late Willard and Edna (nee Walker) Heylmun and had been a resident of Tonawanda for the greater part of his life. A Navy veteran of WWII, he had been a research chemist at Spaulding Fibre before retiring. Chuck was a member of the City of Tonawanda School Board for many years, a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tonawanda, and was an active member of the community. He was the husband of the late Gloria (nee Greenman) Heylmun, who died in 1976.
He is survived by his three daughters, Gail (Gary Sandusky) Heylmun, Paige Heylmun and Lisa (Bob) Trakas; and a brother, George (Doris) Heylmun. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There is no visitation. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in the spring. If desired, memorials to the Wounded Warrior Program are preferred by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the HAMP FUNERAL HOME, Inc., Tonawanda.
