TONAWANDA-Arthur F.
Semper, 68, of 49 Harriet St.,
died Sunday (Feb. 26, 1961) at
DeGraff Memorial Hospital
after a brief illness. He was
employed as a barber at the
Wagner Barber Shop for 56
years and owned and operated
the shop since 1949.
A lifelong resident of this
city, Mr. Semper was a Navy
veteran of World War I, a
member of Salem United
Church of Christ, a life mem-
ber of Tonawandas Post No.
264, American Legion, a 46-
year member of Delaware
Hose Co.No. 2, a member of
the Tonawanda Exempt Firemen's
Association and a member
of the 272 Club.
Surviving are his wife. Clara
Sprenger Semper; a daughter,
Mrs. Gerald Berndt; a sister,
Mrs. William Ross; and a
grandson, all of this city.
Rev. Karl H. A. Rest will
conduct the funeral service at
2 p.m. Thursday at the Hamp
Funeral Home. Burial will be
in Elmlawn Cemetery.

SEMPER - Arthur F. Semper,
68, of 49 Harriet St., Tonawanda,
died Sunday (Feb. 26, 1961) in
DeGraff Memorial Hospital after
a brief illness. Born in Tonawan-
da, he was a lifelong resident of
the city and was employed for 56
years at Wagner's Barber Shop.
Since 1949, Mr. Semper had been
the proprietor of the barber shop.
He was a member of Salem United
Church of Christ, was a life mem-
ber of Tonawar.das Post 264.1
American Legion: a 46-year member
of Delaware Hose Company, ai
member of the Tonawanda Exempt
Firemen and the 272 Club.
Surviving are his widow, Clara
(nee Sprenger); a daughter, Mrs.
Gerald (Norma) Berndt; a grand-
son, Dennis Arthur Berndt, and a
sister, Mrs. William Ross, all of
Tonawanda. Friends may call at
Hamp Funeral Home Inc., 37
Adam St., Tonawanda, where
services will be conducted at 2
p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Karl
H. A. Rest will officiate. Burial in
Elmlawn Cemetery.
