Gerald I. "Gerry" Harris

BUFFALO — Gerald I. “Gerry” Harris, 79, of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into rest, unexpectedly, on Monday, November 7, 2011, in Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Born on March 19, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Mildred (Parks) Harris.
Mr. Harris was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. Gerry, as he was known by family and friends, served in the United States Air Force from April 30, 1952 until his honorable discharge on April 29, 1956. On September 6, 1952, he married the former Beverley E. Creekmore in the chapel of Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX. Mr. Harris worked as a production worker for Nabisco, until his retirement in 1993. Gerry was a member of Colonial Village Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his beloved wife of 59 years, Mr. Harris is survived by two children, Anne Harris Stamp of Gasport, NY and Stephen (Renee) Harris of Lewiston, NY; seven grandchildren, Derek (Lisa) Wisnieski of Niagara Falls, NY, Jessica Stamp of Lockport, NY, Kevin Stamp of Gasport, NY, Venessa Haley of Rochester, NY, Amelia Harris of Lewiston, NY, Jackson Harris of Lewiston, NY and Haleigh Harris of Zeeland, MI; four great-grandchildren, Brett Andrzejewski of Niagara Falls, NY, Eian Haley of Rochester, NY, Mikayla Karnyski of Lockport, NY and Jayden Rivera of Lockport, NY; and many step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Gerry was predeceased by one son, David Harris; two sisters, Betty Gusky and Marion Bax; and two brothers, William Harris and Richard Harris.
The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Chapel of the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (297-9007), where a funeral service will be held on Friday, November 11th at 11:00 AM. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Colonial Village Presbyterian Church, 4813 Kline Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.
